A “Great Catch” is an event or circumstance that has the
potential to cause harm to a patient but never reaches the
patient due to the actions of a staff member. These type of
events are encouraged to be reported by placing an event in
Meditech. Each month, these are reviewed and one is
chosen to receive the “Great Catch Award”. All staff
members are responsible for patient safety standards but
this award recognizes a staff member that demonstrates an
exceptional commitment to patient safety.

someone to call her in order to have the
opportunity to convey her appreciation for the
care her husband received. He was discharged
from MS5 yesterday, 3/23/22. The patient’s wife
stated that her husband’s night nurse, Dominica
Rock, exemplified professionalism and gave
excellent medical care. She went on to explain
that she was attentive and had a wonderful
personality. She said her husband felt reassured
and comfortable that he was receiving the best
care he could. She was very thankful and
wanted to make sure these nurses knew how
they felt.”
