Benefits of Summer Dance (1)

Benefits of Summer Dance (1)

THE BENEFITS OF SUMMER DANCE

With this much merit, who
can afford NOT to take class.

Dance has many benefits. In addition to being a creative outlet for physical expression and just a fun thing to do,
dance also boasts many other advantages. Artistically, dance inspires appreciation for visual and performing art,
encourages imagination and creativity, and fosters expression. Dance also promotes physical health, cognitive
strength, social skills, psychological development and just plain 'ol life skills . See many of the benefits listed below:

PHYSICAL: Fitness, Coordination, Flexibility, Strength, Endurance
COGNITIVE: Right & Left Brain Usage, Spatial Awareness, Counting, Sequencing, Problem Solving, Foreign
Language
SOCIAL: Team Work, Cooperation, Communication, Friendships
PSYCHOLOGICAL: Confidence, Self-esteem
LIFE: Discipline, Focus, Accomplishment, Tenacity/Persistence, Hard Work, Cultural Exchange & Appreciation

Summer dance provides a continuum of these benefits and learning outcomes. Students that attend summer
enrichment programs in dance often accelerate much faster than students that take the summers off. Due to the
repetition of concepts and frequency of learning, these students are able retain vocabulary, technique, and feel
confident quickly and more easily. In summer camps and intensives, students are immersed in dance technique and
culture for extended periods of time daily, therefore challenging their physical, cognitive, and psychological
development simultaneously while providing the perfect incubator for social skills. Summer classes are also offered as
multiple day classes to help the students engage more frequently in class.

With this much merit, who can afford not to take class. Whether you dance for exercise or desire to dance
professionally one day, summer is a great time to start or continue your dance journey. You won't regret it!
