GROW AND EAT

sumTmIPerScsrcaualanttdcehrbtaohwnedml tcoionlaotdoudryofluarvour, HOW TO GROW
IN A POT

Nasturtium thrive in pots and make
a colourful display around your back
door – handy for snipping a flower for
the cocktail glass.

YOU WILL NEED

✽ Several medium-sized pots
(nasturtium look great in
terracotta) filled with garden soil or
last year’s compost. They don’t like
rich potting compost.

WHAT TO DO
1 Remove the plants from their
plastic pots. If they are particularly
dry after their journey home, give
them a little soak in a bucket of water
before planting.
2 Fill the pots of your choice with a
mix of garden soil, old compost from
last year or whatever else you have
lying around. Just make sure it’s not
enriched potting compost though,
as nasturtium prefer poor soil. Fill the
pots up two thirds full.
3 Position the plants in the pots and
start infilling with soil until they are
firmly in position. Water thoroughly so
the soil is moist but not drenched, and
your fingertip comes out wet when
inserted. Then position the container
in a sunny spot as nasturtium thrive in
full sun.
