communities stronger in the places where we do business.
We are proud to support the AJHL because they empower their
players to deliver excellence—both on and off the ice.

THE AJHL

op·por·tu·ni·ty

Noun: a set of circumstances that
makes it possible to do something.

Welcome to the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s 55th Sea-
son. Nothing compares to the anticipation, optimism and
enthusiasm of the start of a new year. I know those feelings
well. Twenty years ago I was an athlete in the AJHL; naïve to the opportunities within my grasp
and unware of how the life experiences within the game shape one’s foundation.

With the privilege of entering my sixth season as AJHL Commissioner, and in collaboration with
League Staff and our Members, it is our responsibility to create an environment that encourages
success and provides the infrastructure for our athletes to flourish and take advantage of the
opportunities within the AJHL.

The upcoming AJHL season will offer a plethora of opportunities; to play for a National Champi-
onship, to don the Team Canada jersey, to hoist the AJHL Inter Pipeline Cup, to be a First Round
NHL Draft Selection. But I also encourage our athletes to take advantage of the opportunities to
be a great teammate, impact their community, and be reliable, honest, and trustworthy.

Our athletes have a responsibility to themselves. Every single one has something that they excel
at. Every single one of them has something to offer. And they have a responsibility to themselves
to discover what that is. That’s the opportunity the AJHL can provide.

I am confident in the potential of our athletes because they have important advantages. Their
commitment to education and athletics gives them an enormous advantage in the 21st century
- this is an investment the athletes and their families have made. The bottom line is this…We
believe in our athletes.

Our League is driven by people and I respect all of those involved in our game. Volunteers, bil-
lets, officials, family and team staff are all integral to our League and provide our athletes with the
opportunity to develop and mature within a safe environment.

I thank you for your commitment to the game, our athletes, and the Alberta Junior Hockey League.
I wish everyone the best for the 2018-19 season and look forward to seeing you at the rink.

Regards,
Ryan Bartoshyk
Commissioner, Alberta Junior Hockey League

Mom’s from Sherwood Park forgot a bag including medication.
Terri was going into Edmonton the next day and offered to drive
the bag out to Sherwood Park for the mom. She couldn’t
believe that we would do something like that. With a grin,
the mom gave Terri a big hug and a hearty thank you.
At Canalta we will literally go the extra mile for you.
