1 Drawing

Hello children! Let’s practise drawing. To start with, first pick up
simple objects like flowers, fruits, or objects like chair, desk and table.
After that move on to drawing complex things like human face,
mountains, rivers or a scene or situation of human life. You should
regularly practise your drawing. You should work on different
geometrical shapes like rectangle, square, circle, a straight line, lines
joined in an angle and so on. You should first start with a pencil and
a blank paper fixed on a cardboard. Keep eraser and sharpener with
you all the time to make changes and corrections while drawing. Do
not draw a picture directly with a pen.

Start with a straight line, triangle, circle and square first and then draw the
above patterns.

Learn to draw more complex figures as given above and below.

Teaching Guideline:

Help students see the geometrical shapes and patterns in objects or things surrounding them.
Encourage them to explore relationship in those patterns before they attempt to draw a figure
of the objects or scene or situation.

2 Colouring

Students! Be attentive
about your surroundings
and see the colours in each
and every thing. Nothing
exists without colours.
Know all the important
colours and use them in
your drawings. Bring a
cloth sheet or thick paper
all spread on the hard
background such as table
or plastered floor or card board. Now, draw a figure or bring the
already drawn figure to fill it with colours. Know what colour is to
be used in which picture. Mix the different colours together to see the
changes. Just create different shapes and patterns using the colours.

Teaching Guideline:

Ask the students to get all the colour pencils, painting box or colour paste. Make the students play
with colours by mixing them together and encourage them to apply the colours appropriately
on the drawings. Also guide them to make a picture by painting colours.

3 Printing

Printing is the reproduction of an image or text in colour. A solid
flat object such as hand is immersed in colours of paint to get its
print on a paper or cloth or other solid background. One needs to be
careful in getting such prints. Only natural colours without harmful
mixtures of chemicals are allowed to be used for children. Objects
which are immersed in colours can cast a print if placed against a
solid background. For printing, two surface areas must meet each
other. One with colours casts impressions on the other.

Examples of hand, feet and block printing are given below.

Teaching Guideline:

Get the students on the activity of printing of colours on a piece of cloth or a paper. Make sure
that colours or paints are not harmful when they come in contact with the hands of children.
Different objects such as wooden or plastic blocks of different shapes and designs can also be
used for printing practice in the classroom.

4 Paper Collage

Paper collage is an art of making a picture by pasting small bits of
coloured paper onto another paper (in a background). First choose
a design of which paper collage is to be made. Keep a board/canvas
for proper support, use paint, colour pencils, markers and pens for
adding colours. Glue is used to paste several pieces of papers. Ruler
and scissor will help you to arrange the designs cut for paper collage.
Following are the steps:

Step 1: Choose a Design Step 2: Create blocks for scissoring

Step 3: Cut the paper into pieces Step 4: Paste it on background paper

Teaching Guideline:

Choose different designs for students. Give them instructions with practical training how to
make a paper collage and then get them on to practical session. Ask them to use old newspapers
and magazines to make paper collage and show it to teacher. Give them further instructions for
perfecting the art.

5 Clay Work

Clay work is an art to make different objects out of clay. This modeling
clay art requires exposure to make dough to create various shapes
and sizes of different objects. After making the objects of clay, colours
are also used to paint them. It is a joy to work with hands to create
different shapes. Clay is poked, pinched, twisted and rolled to shape
it properly.

Examples of different clay works are given below.

Teaching Guideline:

Arrange clay for making art for children. Demonstrate how to mix water to make a dough
of clay. Choose a design to model a lump of clay accordingly. Finally, get the children on the
practice of making designs out of clay.

6 Ink Blotting

Dear students, take a sheet of plastic, paper, colourful ink bottles
and a working surface board. Spread the ink first on the plastic sheet
and then fold it properly. Transfer the ink on the paper and fold it
completely. Spreading or sprinkling the ink directly on the paper
needs practice.

Patterns or designs of ink blotting on a sheet of paper are given below.

Teaching Guideline:

Demonstrate how to do ink blotting in the classroom. Let the students practise the art of ink
blotting. Ask them to use different colours and guide them to make patterns from the ink
blotting.

7 Wax Painting

Wax is molded to form several images. Wax board can also be used
to create a scene and then painting is applied on it. Another way is
to rub a wax first on card board or a wooden board to apply colours
to create patterns. Choose the thick colours which stay on the wax to
paint a pattern or shape or scene.

Be prepared for sketching and wax painting Drawing Octopus for wax painting

Wax has been molded into a shape. Wax is used as a background base.

Teaching Guideline:

Show the students what colours and paints are to be used on the wax to create art. First show
them to create different patterns out of wax and then apply colour on them.

8 Children’s Song

Title: Dance and Sing

Trin......Trin...........Trin, Come on in.
Join me now to dance and sing.

Touch my hand, move your leg,
Don’t be idle to be on the fringe.
Don’t be mean, set the stage with music in,
Joy and love......... get them all from within.

Trin......Trin...........Trin, Come on in.
Join me now to dance and sing.

Take the steps with gentle smile,
Hold it on ............. all the while.
Don’t be shy, up in the sky,
Call the stars to give it a try.

Trin......Trin...........Trin, Come on in.
Join me now to dance and sing.

Title: I am feeling shy

Be in the garden of flowers,
Get all the exotic showers.

Open in the sky, birds fly high,
Tell me why I am feeling shy.
Be in the garden of flowers,
Get all the exotic showers.
Do not lie. Or else I will cry.
Tell 9me why I am feeling shy.
Be in the garden of flowers,
Get all the exotic showers.
All to my eyes, colours of butterflies,
Tell me why I am feeling shy.
Be in the garden of flowers,
Get all the exotic showers.

Hey guys, with a gasp of sigh
Tell me why I am feeling shy.
Be in the garden of flowers,
Get all the exotic showers.
Jasmine, Rose and Lily,
Waving on me ‘Hey-Hi’,
Oh No........... once again,
Tell me why I am feeling shy.
