Objectives

After completing the study of this unit, students will be able to:
 develop different types of story-based games.
 play the story-based games.

There are different types of games. Some games are played based on
stories. The games based on stories are known as story-based games.
In these games, we play by acting as the characters of the story.

Objectives

After completing the study of this unit, students will be able to:
 design different types of acting-based games.
 perform the formulated acting-based games.

We can imitate sounds, actions of people and animals. We
really enjoy acting games. We now act like some animals.

Jumping like a rabbit

In this acting, we sit on the ground on our legs and hands as shown
in the picture and jump like a rabbit.

In this acting, we can walk like an elephant.

BALL GAMES Unit

Objectives

After completing the study of this unit, students will be able to:
 state different types of ball games.
 play the ball games.

We enjoy playing ball. We play ball games by running, jumping
and catching balls. Volleyball, football, basketball, etc. are some ball
games.

We need different skills like rolling, dribbling, throwing, catching,
passing, etc. to play volleyball, football and basketball.

ACTIVITY 1

Dribbling a ball

The process of moving the ball along with several short kicks, hits
or bounces is called dribbling.

We can control the ball with this skill. Let’s practise dribbling
making a line of friends.

Throwing a ball

We enjoy throwing the ball with a single or both hands. We pass
the ball by throwing it to our friends. Let’s make a circle and start
our game.

ACTIVITY 3
Passing a ball

We pass the ball to our friends with our hands or legs. Let’s play.

ACTIVITY 4
Catching a ball

We catch the ball when our friends pass it to us. We pass and catch
the volleyball, football and basketball. We enjoy while playing it.

Hints for some games
a) Stand in a queue. Dribble a ball five times with a single or

both hands and then run and take position in the same place.
b) Stand in a queue. Dribble a ball with feet and take position in

the same place. Give everyone a chance.

Teaching Instructions

ƒƒ Warm up children before playing games.
ƒƒ Manage ground and materials as the game requires.
ƒƒ Engage all children in the games.
ƒƒ Instruct children clearly on the rules of the games.
ƒƒ Encourage children with words of admiration and physical touch when

they play.

 perform different types of gymnastics.

ACTIVITY 1

Gymnastics is a body balancing game. It makes our body flexible.
Let’s practise gymnastics.

We can roll our body to the left side.

ACTIVITY 2
Rolling body to the right

We also roll our body to the right side. We can practise as shown
in the given figure.

ƒƒ Be cautious about accidents while children are doing gymnastics.

ƒƒ Instruct children clearly how they should play.
ƒƒ Demonstrate additional activities along with the activities given in the

 balance the body in different conditions.

Balancing is a way of keeping the body straight in difficult situations.
We need to develop skills of balancing our body. Let’s practise some
exercises.

Balancing body on a plank

Take a wooden bench of
a low height. Step on the
bench and walk swinging
your hands to balance the
body. Let’s practise.

ACTIVITY 2

Balancing on steps

Practise to balance your
body on steps. Walk on
a ladder putting it on the
ground. Let’s practise.

ACTIVITY 3
Balancing body

We balance our body standing on two legs. We stretch the hands
up in vertical position. We raise the heels and keep our body in
balance. Let’s practise.

ACTIVITY 4
Balancing on single leg

We balance our body standing on a single leg. We stretch one leg
forward. Let’s try to remain in this position as long as we can.

ƒƒ Be watchful about accidents while children are balancing their body.
