Pratibimb - The Reflections

School Magazine_2020-21

DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL
JAIPUR

A WORLD OF ENDLESS OPPORTUNITIES

Mr. Ravi Jaipuria & Mrs. Dhara Jaipuria

When we set up DPS in Jaipur many years ago it was with a view to provide the best kind of
education to the children of Jaipur. As we look back at the years we feel very happy and
content at the kind of progress the school has made. The school boasts of beautiful
infrastructure spread over 17 acres of land.
The teachers who joined the school have stayed on with us which speaks volume of about
their commitment and dedication. The children who are part of DPS Jaipur have brought
laurels not just in academics but also in co-curricular and sporting activities. As the patrons
of the school, we feel very proud at the progress school has made and will continue to make.
The school magazine is a mirror of the events that have gone by in the previous year and we
feel very happy as we go through the content of the magazine and see what all has gone into
making the school what it is.
Congratulations and best wishes to the Principal, Ms. Rita Taneja and the editorial team for
bringing out the magazine which reflects all the activities of the year gone by.

Ms. Devyani Jaipuria

For me, Jaipur holds an old world charm filled with history, tradition and culture.
Therefore, DPS Jaipur also in my mind stands for all these things. Each time I visit the
school, I feel proud to see the way Indian culture is being imbibed and established. I
feel happy to read about the good academic results of the school and the various
activities that are undertaken to keep the children engaged.
I think going forward we want the school to do much more so that the children get every
opportunity to shine in academics, sports and co-curricular activities. As a family we
stand together to support these endeavour and I feel sure that with the Principal, Ms.
Rita Taneja and her team of dedicated staff this will become a reality. I like to
congratulate the editorial team for bringing out the magazine despite being in lockdown.
I think it just shows that the schools were in lockdown but all the activities that make
part of the school were very much on!
Best wishes to each one of you for the year gone by and for the coming session.

FROM THE DIRECTOR’S DESK

Putting together a magazine at the end of year is like revisiting every event, every function
all over again and enjoying it all the more. As the unusual year comes to an end we may
remain in lockdown physically but our minds have not been lockdown.
I can say with conviction that the Principal, Ms. Rita Taneja has left no stone unturned to
ensure that the kind of work that should be happening in a regular school has happened even
when the school was in lockdown ,so whether they were activities, Orientation Programmes
or Inter School events. She has being there to make sure that the children do not lose out on
anything.
Bringing together the magazine during these unusual months must have been a challenge
but hats off to the team at DPS Jaipur which has ensured that whatever work has to happen
will happen. They have turned obstacles into opportunities and made sure that the magazines
come out the way it should have.
My congratulations to the editorial team, to the teachers and the students who were part of
this endeavour. I am sure that we will enjoy going through the contents of this magazine and
look forward to many more.

Director
Delhi Public School, Jaipur

FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK

"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world".
– Nelson Mandela

The session 2020-21 is a testimony to it. It has been a journey of
transition and transformation not only for the students but for the
teachers and parents alike. What a year!
DPS, Jaipur , has lived up to the expectations of everyone in terms of
evolving and coming to terms with the new normal. Not even for a
moment that we succumbed to the pandemic rather we emerged as a
more powerful team of warrior teachers who battled all the odds and
remained invincible throughout.
The exposure that we provide, the knowledge that we impart and the curriculum that we focus
on prepares young minds to develop an in-depth understanding of fundamental skills in the arts
and sciences, current world events, intercultural dialogue and fluency in the new technologies,
thereby preparing students for the global challenges of the present and the future. We value and
treasure the uniqueness each child brings to the classroom. The very diverse cultural
backgrounds and learning styles of our student community makes DPS an ideal setting for
positive and healthy learning. The richness of our academic programs encourages students to
connect separate elements of knowledge to form a coherent perspective of the whole, thus
producing insightful, creative and analytical thinkers. At DPS Jaipur, we focus to create a
learning centre which enables young learners to take flights of fancy, to academic brilliance, to
artistic creativity, to athletic supremacy and most importantly, to the tomorrow of their dreams
and the session 2020-21, despite all odds, could not digress us in our endeavour. We, as a
community of teachers, students and parents kept thriving and kept achieving.
We believe there can be no higher calling than to deliver an outstanding education for your child
and we have an excellent faculty and staff who are committed to that very purpose. Be it online
or offline, we are dedicated to bring out the best in our students who are ready to embrace the
changing world with vigour and gusto.
I wish them the very best in their endeavours.

Headmistress, Delhi Public School, Jaipur

HEAD OF THE DEPARTMENTS

The pandemic has shown us the lucrative side of online teaching and
learning. The teaching of English language has seen a new dimension as
the previously tech-shy educators determined to take everything in their
stride and march ahead with undaunted courage. The shift to online
education had meant rethinking lesson plans to fit a very different format.
But the teachers of the English Department quickly adapted, reconfigured
their lesson plans, familiarized with video conference platforms, learnt
terminologies like synchronous, asynchronous learning, adapted shortcuts
to overcome bandwidth or hardware constraints. All this despite not having
the right infrastructure at home or the right social support. They have been
incredible as they leapt with zeal, commitment and creativity into this new way of online teaching. The
integration of information technology in education will be further accelerated and online education will for
sure become an integral component of school education.

Ms. Anjana Swami
HOD - English

The pandemic posed an excellent opportunity to change the way we teach
mathematics in schools.

Innovative teaching techniques for Mathematics were explored and implemented
during the out break . Online teaching of Math which was initially viewed as an
uphill task brought forth the latent skills which were fruitful in enabling the
students and enhancing their problem solving aptitude.

Mr. AK Sharma
HOD – Mathematics

The teaching of Science has undergone a tremendous transformation due to
the shift from offline to online teaching. Each household emerged as a
treasure of equipments which were effectively and creatively used by the
teachers and students. The novel Olabs make use of cutting edge simulation
technology to create real world lab environments. Remember Science is
simply the word we use to describe a method of organising our CURIOSITY
and CURIOSITY is the SPARK behind the SPARK of every GREAT IDEA.
The FUTURE BELONGS TO THE CURIOUS.

Ms. Meena Bhargava
HOD - Science

"It is only in our darkest hours that we may discover the true strength of the
brilliant light within ourselves that can never, ever, be dimmed."
The pandemic year was taken as a challenge by the entire teaching fraternity and
we all changed in a revolutionary way.
The Social Science teachers are now making PPTs, modules, quizzes, searching
YouTube for videos, and so on. Every possible method was used to ensure that
40 minutes of class is interesting enough for students and that their attention
remains unwavering. Additionally, teachers took short assessments, interacted
with parents, organised competitions such as debates, poster making, etc, did
career counselling, conducted student council selections, and more. It was done
to make sure students don’t feel like their precious student years are wasted.
The Social Science teachers gave the personal touch or tried to create a personal
rapport, which was an integral part of classroom teaching.
Mr. Faisal Khan
HOD – Social Science

Ms. Vibhuti Chauhan
HOD – Hindi

2020 accelerated the e-commerce industry by a decade, revolutionising the way
brands operate, run, and grow their businesses, as well as how consumers choose
to shop and pay. Education has changed dramatically, with the distinctive rise
of e-learning, whereby teaching is undertaken remotely and on digital platforms.
Research suggests that online learning has been shown to increase retention of
information, and takes less time, meaning the changes coronavirus has caused
might be here to stay.

Ms. Latika Chaudhary
HOD - Commerce

Online education seemingly deprived children of open spaces to run, explore,
encounter, interact socially, wonder, and raise questions — the holistic exercise
of mind and body. Nevertheless the sports teachers of the school left no stone
unturned and quickly resorted to online sessions in aerobics, yoga, free hand
exercises and even inter- house competitions. This itself speaks volumes about
the dedication of the teachers – the true warriors at the academic front.

Mr. Magan Singh Shekhawat
HOD – Physical Education

Recognizing the fact, that not all lessons are necessarily learnt in a classroom
and the important role co- curricular activities play in self-development and
connectedness inspired us in developing a range of additional opportunities
for students to join and collaborate in the online space. “Co-curricular
opportunities are where students learn more about themselves, about
working in teams about achieving a goal outside of the classroom. We
looked for possibilities in adversities. The online Taal Tarang was a mega
event, the Frosty Fest was a competition at the international level and many
such competitions kept the enthusiasm of the students at its peak.
Surely, being part of such events creates a sense of camaraderie among
students despite being physically distanced.

Dr. Shalini Kulshrestha
HOD - Performing and Visual arts

In a flash, teaching transformed from a traditional classroom practice to a
remote, digitalized one. This required significant adjustments not only
from children and their teachers, but also from their families, school
administration as well. Technology became an indispensable part of
everyday life . The benefits of technology were highlighted, as well as its
harms and unintended consequences. It was crucial to discuss the ethics
and responsibility of technology and computing with our students. The
department meticulously planned sessions to equip the staff members with
a variety of skills, competencies and resources to effectively take up the
online mode of instruction.

Mr. Walter A Joseph

Tête-À-Tête On NEP- 2020 with

The Principal Ms Rita Taneja

While the country still grapples with a pandemic and the
school-going children sitting at home, some learning online
and the others not being able to afford it, India welcomed the
National Education Policy in July 2020. When the New
Education Policy, 2020, was announced by the government,
my ears perked up. As a student, still being very much a part of
the education system, I was curious to see what the government
had envisioned for millions like me.

Q.1. Ma’am, there is a lot of talk about the NEP 2020 from various quarters. Could you please
tell us what the New Education System 2020 is? As an educator, what are your key takeaways?

Ans. Yes definitely. The Modi government announced the New Education Policy 2020 which
brings about several major reforms in education in India. Among the major reforms, the 10+2
structure in the schooling system has been replaced by a 5+3+3+4 structure. With emphasis on
Early Childhood Care and Education, the 10+2 structure of school curricula is to be replaced
by a 5+3+3+4 curricular structure corresponding to ages 3-8, 8-11, 11-14, and 14-18 years
respectively. The new system will have 12 years of schooling with three years of Anganwadi/
pre schooling. As an educator, I believe this is a wonderful opportunity. I think for the first
time, we're really bringing in the 21st century out of only conversations and into the classroom.
And you can’t possibly do 21st century skilling through rote learning. At one level, we're
looking at creating a future of learning where the child is at the heart of research-based,
individualised understanding—the whole concept of global citizenry, inclusion, project-based
learning, learning at your own pace. For the first time, students are kept as the ‘focal point’ of
the entire policy. The policy reflects the 5 ‘I’s – Indian, Internationalism, Impactful, Interactive
and Inclusive – while beholding itself on the principles of equity, quality and access. Through
the policy, we will bring transformational changes for students making them adapt to the skills
of the 21st century at both school and higher education levels.

Q.2. So, ma’am, at what age would a child formally start his education?

Ans. Three. In this new structure, pre-school (age 3 to 6) will become an integral part of school
education. The current school education system is a 10+2 system,
where formal schooling starts at the age of 6 years, but the new policy aims to change it by
including pre-school education in the formal school system.

Q.3. What would be the primary medium of education recommended by NEP 2020, ma’am?

Ans. The prime minister said that in rural areas, parents cannot even remain connected to their
child's school education when the mother tongue is not the medium of instruction. So, till grade
5, the medium of instruction should be the mother tongue or the local language,
according to the NEP. So, the National Education Policy 2020 has emphasised on the use of
mother tongue or local language as the medium of instruction till Class 5 while, recommending
its continuance till Class 8 and beyond.

Q.4. As you just mentioned ma’am, much is being said about mother tongue being the medium
of instruction until class 5. How is the mother tongue important to a person?

Ans. Mother tongue is the language which a child starts hearing after being born and thus, it
also helps in providing a definite shape to our emotions and thoughts. Learning in your mother
tongue also is crucial in enhancing other skills such as critical thinking, skills to learn a
second language and literacy skills. Research shows that children learning in mother
tongue adopt a better understanding of the curriculum. Skills learnt in mother tongue do not
have to be re-taught when the child transfers to a second language.

Q.5. Ma’am, then what about the English-medium private schools like ours? Besides English
being a global language, it might be a deterrent for students. What are Your views on this,
ma’am?

Ans. Listen to me very carefully. The NEP seeks to establish local to global citizens so that
students can in turn imbibe the spirit of becoming vocal for local. The policy recognises that
the young children learn and grasp nontrivial concepts more quickly in their home
language/mother tongue. Home language is usually the same language as the mother tongue or
that which is spoken by local communities. Thereby, ‘Wherever possible’, the medium of
instruction until at least Grade 5, but preferably till Grade 8 and beyond, will be the home
language/mother tongue/local language/regional language.

Also, the policy presents greater flexibility in the three-language formula, and thereby no
language will be imposed on any State. The three languages learned by children will be the
choices of States, regions, and of course, the students themselves, so long as at least two of the
three languages are native to India. Nowhere the policy talks about shedding the English
language or its role instead it emphasizes on the importance of multilingualism which has great
cognitive benefit for young children.

Q.6. So, ma’am, what is the III language policy in NEP 2020? Also, please explain in detail
the 3-language formula in NEP 2020 which you just mentioned.

Ans. The NEP 2020 brings with it a novel concept of early implementation of the three-
language formula with the view to promote multilingualism and national unity. The NEP says
this about teaching foreign languages: In addition to high quality offerings in Indian languages
and English, foreign languages, such as Korean, Japanese, Thai, French, German, Spanish,
Portuguese, and Russian, will also be offered at the secondary level, for students to learn.
The three-language formula sought to serve three functions namely, accommodating group
identity, affirming national unity, and increasing administrative efficiency.

Q.7. Ma’am, could you please tell us the changes in NEP?

Ans. Ya sure. The NEP proposes sweeping changes including opening up of Indian
higher education to foreign universities, dismantling of the UGC and the All-India Council for
Technical Education (AICTE), introduction of a four-year multidisciplinary undergraduate
programme with multiple exit options, and discontinuation of the M Phil.

Q.8. Ma’am, will NEP 2020 affect CBSE pattern also?

Ans. There will be a lot more flexibility to choose subjects in schools and colleges. What needs
to be noted, as a student, is that the new policy will bring major reforms in the way the Central
Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) functions.

Q.9. What is the objective of NEP 2020, Ma’am?

Ans. NEP aims to ensure equity and inclusion in and through education by addressing all forms
of exclusion and marginalization, disparity, vulnerability and inequality in education access,
participation, retention and completion and in learning outcomes.

Q.10. Ma’am, what are the five pillars of NEP 2020?

Ans. Affordability, accessibility, quality, equity, and accountability are the five pillars of
the NEP.

Q.11. Is coding compulsory in NEP2020?

Ans. Yes, National Education Policy 2020 Unveiled; Coding mandatory from class- VI
onwards.

Q.12. Ma’am, is X board cancelled in NEP2020?

Ans. The Class 10 board exams and Class 12 board exams will test primarily “core capacities,
competencies rather than months of coaching or memorisation”. Board exams will not
be cancelled.

Q.13. Will NEP affect NEET or JEE?

Ans. The new education policy will have minimal effect on JEE and NEET aspirants.

Q.14. Who drafted the NEP and what was its need, ma’am?

Ans. The Indian government has revamped its education policy after three-long-decades. And
a big part of the credit goes to Dr Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan — who along with his team
drafted the policy. The new policy aims to increase the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in higher
education, including vocational education, from 26.3 percent (2018) to 50 percent by 2035. For
this, 35 million new seats will be added to higher education institutions.

Q.15. Ma’am, why do you think that NEP is important?

Ans. The Education system of a country is a true indicator of its economic strength, and the
reforms of the NEP 2020, will certainly help India break into the top three economies of the
world in the next 10 years.

Q.16. My last question to you Ma’am, why is education important according to you?

Ans. See, education is extremely important in many ways. It helps people become better
citizens, get a better-paid job, and shows the difference between good and
bad. Education fosters decision making skills and critical thinking. Children who attend school
are taught about values, morals, and ways to solve problems. With the ability to make important
decisions and consider all possibilities, children will no doubt be more successful in their
personal and professional lives. Education shows us the importance of hard work and, at the
same time, helps us grow and develop. Thus, we are able to shape a better society to live in by
knowing and respecting rights, laws, and regulations.

Thank you so much ma’am for taking out the time for the interview and throwing the light on
NEP 2020 for our better understanding. Thank you so much once again…..

RENDEZVOUS

HEAD BOY – SATVIK GARG

Q1. What do you consider important – being a dutiful son or a popular
Head Boy.

Ans. I assure you; you can be popular even while being a dutiful son. I was
fortunate enough to have grown up around such teachers who guided and
supported me in every step I took. They showered me with such warmth and
affection teaching us not only the concepts of physics or sentences in English but
also moral values, manners and what it means to be good person.

Q2. What/Who kept you motivated and inspired during the pandemic?

Ans. The pandemic was difficult for all of us, personally, loud music helped me
to get hold of my nerves and stay motivated, occasional breaks and sitting out by the sun also gave me hope and
calmed me down, however my teachers and my parents were my light in these dark times, I used to call up my
teachers and used to discuss what I was feeling and sometimes the conversations were so random it didn’t even
matter because I stopped worrying about the problems. Learning offline was difficult but teaching was so much
more work and I am grateful to all my teachers for adapting so quickly and not letting us feel the void of our
offline classrooms.

Q3. What measures would you take to stop cyber bullying?

Ans. Every year our school organises a session with the cyber security expert Rakshit Tandon who briefs us about
the laws and ways to protect us from cyber threats and attacks. We will find bullies in every corner of life, to deal
with them is not always to ignore them but to inform our teachers about them and if need arises to report the
cyber cell. I would recommend one should add only those people whom you know on your social media pages
and keep a check on people who are added.

Q4. How do you manage your academics and the responsibility of a head boy?

Ans. I always believe in working with a time constraint, it helps me spear through my projects with efficiency
and effectiveness. Punctuality being my strong suit I did not have difficulty in delivering myself on time. Being
a team leader I believe in shared responsibilities with a special emphasis on team work.

Q5. What steps did you take to represent your school and make it excel in different inter-school
competitions?

Ans. Different competitions require a different skill set, thankfully Delhi Public School, Jaipur has a variety of
clubs where students pursue their skills and become the best version of themselves. There is no secret to excel or
win competitions but practice, hard work, determination and the will to win.

The luck factor does not work, luck is something that happens when preparation meets opportunity.

Q6. What advice would you give your juniors on how to take quick decisions?

Ans. Spontaneous decisions, analytical and critical thinking are a few important things one should ponder upon,
my advice is simply go with your gut feeling. However, one should keep all the facts in mind and only then
approach the decision. It isn’t as simple as taking a left or a right but faith in oneself goes a long way.

HEAD GIRL – KUNJAL JAIN

Q1. What do you consider important – being a dutiful daughter or a popular
head girl?

Ans. Both are equally important to me. It is not a binary. Who doesn’t want to be
popular? We all want it. I believe that one can be known and be popular for being
dutiful and responsible towards family people, school and society at large.

Q2. Have your priorities changed after becoming the head girl?

Ans. While being in the school I had always dreamt of becoming the head girl.
When my position changed from being a normal student to the head girl, DPSJ my
priorities also changed. Other than my personal priorities, being there for the
school, my teachers, my council and students became equally important to me.

Q3. What topic would you speak if you get a chance to speak as a head girl in front of other school
council members?

Ans. Since they are already in council, its understood that they are hardworking and deserving. But along with
that, they are also perceived as leaders and I will talk about how they can contribute for the bigger purpose as
leaders being humble and compassionate towards others. This will not only make them a successful person and
lead a happy & satisfactory life but also will make a profound difference in everyone around them. This is what
I always have learnt from my school and teachers, hence, I would like to convey the same if I get this golden
opportunity.

Q4. What according to you is the impact of virtual learning on board classes? How can we improvise E-
learning in near future?

Ans. Since childhood we have studied offline. And now suddenly we have to study online. To maintain our focus
online is a bit difficult plus sometimes the poor connection from either the students’ or teachers’ side hampers
communication making it difficult to understand what is being taught. Teachers have to make extra efforts and
repeat things again and again making it hard on the part of teachers as well. To solve the problem we can record
the lectures so that student can view the lessons again and again and go through them thoroughly. Thus making
it easier for both teachers and students.

Q5. What are the duties of a head girl?

Ans. The important duty of a head girl or any leader should be dedication towards the institute they are serving
along with consideration of ideas and thoughts of every member in their team and then coming to a conclusion
which is best. I’ve always believed in the quote by William Arthur Wood, “Leadership is based on inspiration,
not domination; on cooperation, not intimidation.”

HAPPY PARENTS, HAPPY US!

“Delhi Public School, Jaipur has taught my daughter Navya Agarwal
not only about academics, but also so much about herself. The school
model allows her to explore her thoughts and ideas– through both
successes and failures and pushing her beyond her own pre-set
boundaries. I am glad that my daughter received all the support and
love from teachers and help from her classmates, even when she got
admitted after few months of beginning of the session. She has regained
interest in her strong subjects, all the while discovering a new passion
for reading and debating. I am extremely happy to see her performance.
She is always so eager to attend online classes. The school indeed
makes every student strong and active. It truly is a wonderful
environment to grow in.”
Kajal Agarwal
Mother of Navya Agarwal, IX B

Six years ago, a shy child full of potential walked into the gates of Delhi
Public School Jaipur. In a few months, she will emerge a young adult,
with that potential not only unlocked but refined. Being part of the DPS
family has been nothing short of delightful. The faculty is more than just
academically supportive and has been a second family to her. Being a
teacher myself, I realize how tough it is to manage every aspect of the
education of more than thirty students. I applaud the mentors for making
their efforts look so effortless. The opportunities and facilities that have
been provided to Shambhavi have played a great role in her upbringing.
Every morning, she would board her school bus with a wide smile on her
face, knowing she’ll soon be at her favourite place,a place that has surely
left her with lifelong memories of the wonderful campus where she has

“A teacher plants the seeds of knowledge, sprinkles them with
love and patiently nurtures their growth to produce tomorrow’s
dreams.”

We, as parents can’t thank you enough for your endless support
and guidance that you have provided to our ward here at DPS,
Jaipur. It’s all because of teachers like you that my daughter is
motivated to face every day with renewed vigour, to study and
to take interest in participating in various co- curricular
activities. Her 3 years in DPS, Jaipur were made a fun and
joyous experience only because of you, teachers. We see how
you pour your heart and soul into your daily lessons, be it online or offline. The only thing which didn’t stop
during this pandemic was “learning”, no matter how bad this pandemic was, you decided not to give up. Not
even a single day was wasted during this pandemic, all because of multiple revisions and assignments given by
you. We are, and will always be heartily thankful to you.

Mr. Ashish Saxena
Father of Akshita Saxena, (ClassXI)

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the teachers for the
efforts they are putting together to teach our children. Preparing lessons,
making kids learn through fun, all this through distance learning. It is
very difficult to teach online, however the school is making sure that each
kid gets proper attention and the learning is smooth. The faculty has been
making sure my child is comfortable with the technology and receives
their complete attention. It was overwhelming to see how quickly and
efficiently the new way of learning was adopted by the school and not
only this, the entire parent community was also made comfortable. Co-
curricular activities like debates were also conducted online smoothly.
We all are very happy and thankful for the stupendous amount of effort put in to mitigate the challenges during
the lockdown.

Ms Parul Kanodia
Mother of Nikhil Kanodia, XI-C Science.

When my son asked me if I would want to write my feedback
about how teachers are doing their work in this Covid-19
time, I immediately exclaimed “Yes, I would love to!”, as
emotions of immense gratitude were filled in my heart ever
since my son became a student of this school. No doubt, we
are extremely lucky that my son got lovely teachers in this
school. And then came this pandemic, and suddenly,
everything came to a complete halt. Lockdown was
implemented in every walk of life. Every industry, office,
business and facility was closed, but some messiahs kept on
doing their work even more diligently, to ensure that nothing
stopped even under complete lockdown. Everybody has said
much about doctors, healthcare workers, cleaning workers,
police department and other government departments dealing with essential services, but one category of
messiahs are always left out, and that is teachers, especially teachers of DPS Jaipur.

Due to lockdown, physical teaching was not possible. Teachers had to prepare their teaching material and teach
it online, which must not have been easy. They must have had to learn new technologies and new methods, and
they did so within no time, so that the education of students was not hampered. Not to forget, this was along
with dealing with other complexities of lockdown, like doing all the household chores by themselves and taking
care of their own families etc. I have not seen a single class of my son missed in the last 7-8 months due to any
teacher being unprepared with her/his lectures. Not only the classes, the examinations have also been conducted
in a timely manner. There have also been several co-curricular activities like debates, MUNs, extempores,
quizzes, music and dance competitions etc. All these events were fabulously and systematically organised. I can
proudly say that no other school might have done so much for their students as much as the teachers of DPS
have. I have always been their greatest admirer, but this lockdown has made me feel even more indebted to
them. “Thank you” would be an inadequate expression of the gratitude I feel towards all of them. May God
bless them all!

“Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.”
An effective learning environment is one that raises the quest
to learn, fosters natural curiosity and subtly equips the child
with the right tools to build his or her future.
DPS has carved a niche for itself in the realm of quality
education. When we moved to Jaipur four years back, we
couldn’t think of any other school for our daughter but DPS.
The nurturing and encouraging environment at DPS, Jaipur,
put our minds at ease. We felt assured that our daughter
would surely blossom here. And we are so pleased to see our
daughter progressing and doing extremely well all these years under the able guidance of her wonderful
educators. This year we all have witnessed unprecedented times with the Covid pandemic throwing everything
out of gear. Though we were all confined to our homes during the nationwide lockdown, the school ensured
that learning continued by swiftly switching to digital learning. We understand that this transition from
classroom teaching to interactive online learning entailed great efforts from the teachers and staff and this surely
calls for the highest appreciation. The mode of teaching was modified from time to time (from learning modules
to live classes via Microsoft Teams Meetings) to facilitate effective learning.
It is really commendable that a plethora of online co– curricular activities and events have been regularly
organized by the school to promote creativity and ensure the holistic development of students.
We greatly appreciate all your efforts. Thank you for instilling the love of learning in our daughter and providing
her ample opportunities to explore and develop her interests. She can’t wait to go back to school. Hope she
continues to grow as a learner in this educational journey with you.

Thank you for your hard work in supporting my son. With your guidance, our son has developed into a confident
and capable child. Thank you for being such an important part in our child’s
development. Your expertise in teaching has put our minds at ease. We are so
grateful to have you as our child’s teachers. It is clear that our child’s literacy
and numeracy skills have developed considerably while under your care. Thank
you for helping him. I really appreciate your efforts to make my ward study even
in these kinds of situations we are facing right now and he also studies very
judiciously. We are happy that children are taking these classes seriously and I
hope these classes will help students to get better results in even these situations. My ward’s school is working
very hard to make the students feel that even we are together.

Unfortunately the world has witnessed the worst ever pandemic of the century this year. The covid-19 pandemic
has put life on hold world over and frequent lockdowns ceased the activities
of industries, educational institutions, public and private sectors and all
walks of life.

In this period of great doldrum, there have been some institutions which
have turned challenges into opportunities. The Delhi Public School, Jaipur
is one of them. In spite of physical closure of the school, aggressive and
effective online teaching by the learned faculty of the school is well
appreciated across the society. The students through interactive online
classes and other activities have not only enjoyed the learning process but
are also enriched with the knowledge imparted.

I, as a parent, am highly impressed by this sincere effort by the school in this period of crisis.

Dr.Pankhuri Saxena
Mother of Amor Saxena, Class IV C

My child has been in DPS since class Nursery and I never had any issues whatsoever with the school. And the
pandemic time since March 2020 has been no
exception. Online education was a difficult task as no
one had any previous experience with it, but it’s
commendable how school took up this task so
exceptionally well. Teachers ensured that the children
didn’t miss on anything, everything from classroom
teaching, to class work homework, assignments,
projects, exams, PTM, even the extracurricular
activities happened online. This time has been tough
for everyone and the little ones were feeling lost as the
houses suddenly became jails. But with teachers
showing up every morning interacting enthusiastically with the class each day brought in much cheer to the
otherwise sad state of my child. I would like to thank the school and the complete DPS administration for being
the source of hope, happiness and learning for our children in these tough times. Looking forward to better
times.

Ms. Shaheen Dingankar

Mother of Asad Dingankar, Class III A

It is more than 9 months, we are all at our homes due to COVID-19. This deadly virus has also resulted in
schools to shut down. As a result, millions of children are out of the
classrooms. This has dramatically changed the education system of
the world. Schools have now adopted to e-learning and we are
remotely undertaking the digital platforms.

Similarly, DPS Bhankrota, Jaipur has also adopted this means of
teaching, so that their children do not have to pass a year without
getting their share of education. A big shout out to all the teachers
who may not be tech savvy, have tried their best to familiarise with
this new age system of teaching. Not only that, they are doing an
absolutely fantastic job in teaching their students. Every single
teacher of DPS is so honest and dedicated towards their duty. They
are available 24×7 for any kind of issue/doubt/problems of their
students. We personally have called them at odd hours for any kind of doubt and were never disappointed, as
the teachers have always responded with a smile, and have tried to solve our issue to the 100%. Also, I can't
thank them enough for their cooperative nature in every situation.

To conclude, I, as a parent, am grateful to all the educators of DPS Bhankrota, Jaipur who have gladly accepted
this challenge of remote teaching. Every single teacher of DPS is so dedicated and involved in their students
well being and in imparting knowledge that I can proudly say that my son is a Dipsite.

Mrs. Mousumi Sengupta
Mother of Shreyangsh Ray Choudhury,Class III A

With the classrooms closing down due to the dreaded COVID, the nature
of teaching changed abruptly. Alternative models of teaching evolved
quickly and educators stepped up to the challenge and adapted quickly to
ensure that the little ones didn't suffer. Challenges of no physical
interaction for an incoming class to holding the attention of the kids to
mastering newer technologies with infrastructure challenges (at both the
students and teachers' end) to opening themselves up to teaching with an
'audience of parents' sitting in for the classes - the teachers at DPS, Jaipur,
navigated through all the problems smoothly. They put in impossibly long
hours, mentored one-on-one on WhatsApp, asked for constant feedback
and incorporated that feedback to ensure that 'education' never suffered and our kids sailed through this new
and different terrain successfully.

Ms. Shibani Chattopadhyay
Mother of Aabir Banerjee, Class III A

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the teachers for the
efforts they are putting in to teach our children. Preparing all the PPTs,
teaching children with their full potential and enthusiasm, managing
household chores and ensuring that each student understand the
concepts well. Teachers try to engage with as many students as
possible, by encouraging them to speak and ask questions.

Along with the studies the school is also excellently managing co-
curricular activities by organizing online quizzes, MUNs, debates,
ceremonies and much more. The teachers are also available around the clock in case of queries or for clearing
doubts of students. The school and teachers ensure that children do not face eye strain, as they give some days
off along with the regular 20 minutes break between consecutive classes.

Once again I would like to thank all the teachers for their constant support and hard work, learning and acquiring
technology so fast and getting well accustomed to it.

Mother of Saksham Bhargava, Class XI A Commerce

We have been associated with DPS Jaipur for a long time.
My elder son is currently studying in Class X.
He had joined the school in Prep class. The younger son
is in Class I, who had joined the school in Nursery.

Over the years, I have seen my children blossoming into
confident individuals with multiple talents. The school
provides ample opportunities for the holistic
development of children. Talent shows, Education Fairs,
Virtual Tours, Sports and Cultural events, Inter DPS, Interschool competitions and many such programmes are
organised throughout the year for the students.

It is worth mentioning that there is a collaboration between the school and the parents. I would like to especially
appreciate the efforts of the Principal under whose guidance the school has been able to reach new heights.
Hats off to the dedicated staff of the school for tireless efforts.

I am sure the school will continue its pursuit of excellence.

I am Shalinee, parent of Priyanshu of class X-B. From this great
platform provided by the school through the online school
magazine, I take this opportunity to discuss with all of you my
experience of the online teaching. Even in such hard times during
the pandemic, the school has been constantly supporting all the
students right from grade 1 to grade 12. The learning process for
the students did not even stop for one day and we as parents are
grateful to the school for this. Apart from learning, the school
has also been giving several online co-curricular activities like dance, music, art and even sports activities like
football, volleyball, exercise etc. are being offered by the school. Online competitions like debate competition,
self-composed poem competition, music competitions and even inter-school competitions like taal-tarang are
being conducted. The efforts made by the school are clearly visible when we compare the students of Delhi
Public School, Jaipur to the others and see how much our children have improved and that the pandemic never
was a barrier for them. We hope that the school continues its excellent work in the field of education and never
gives us any reason to complain about anything.

In 2005 we were blessed with an angel, Suhani. From the beginning, we
wished to give her the best of education so that she would not only become
a good student, a patriot but also a dignified personality. I am glad that our
decision to enroll her in Delhi Public School proved to be correct, as within
10 years of her schooling, we have seen and felt a lot of positive changes in
her. Delhi Public School has nurtured her behavior, given her plenty of
opportunities to prove herself and discover herself as well; and definitely her
love, affection and respect towards her teachers/elders has grown with age.

In my view, a school is made eminent by its teachers, staff, and the head of the institution who create a positive
domain for all the students. Indeed, it’s the teachers who bind everyone together- just like a family. Truly, I
count Delhi Public School among the best schools in Jaipur- A place where parents as well as their children see
their dreams come true; where moral education and values are kept paramount.

I wholeheartedly thank every teacher of Delhi Public School for always working very hard for our children with
tremendous dedication, passion and inspiring them to become a better person, a better human, and keep their
morale high. I salute you all from the bottom of my heart for your untiring efforts. I convey my sincere regards
and high gratitude to every faculty member of this school.

The sudden leap into online learning brought upon by the COVID-19 pandemic may be an additional challenge
presented during an already stressful time. Considering the fact that
my ward is an extremely new student in Delhi Public School Jaipur
,and perhaps has not interacted with any of the teachers or students
, it had never made her feel that way . The way she was introduced
with the teachers made her feel a part of the school already. The
school made her comfortable to navigation of the applications and
software now being used to receive their lessons and complete
assignments for the student. Online school cannot be a substitute for
in person schooling but it is developing that interest in my daughter.
The goal for online learning during current times has been fulfilled with complete academic engagement, so she
can retain some of the knowledge that she has gained throughout the school year.
As a parent I never felt the need to motivate my child to attend class in the same spirit as normal school due to
the time table created by teachers according to the interest of the students that gives them self-motivation and
encouragement to join in. Seeing children get their doubts cleared by the click of a button , gives me a sigh of
relief and thankfulness to the teachers for trying to give the best to the students in such times and helping them
out. Giving the students the opportunity to participate in all co-curricular just by staying at home had given the
students a ray of hope.
Looking forward for a safe and peaceful future year for the students.

COVID-19 pandemic outbreak is observed in every sector around the world, including the education sectors.
Back in March 2020 where several other educational institutions were
fighting to survive the crises and were dependent on the Government to lift
the lock-down, Delhi Public School (DPS), Jaipur stood out with
innovative ways, carefully blended with technology and efforts to make
learning a fun experience. Teachers of DPS were no less than CORONA
Warriors. They are playing the role of guiding students through online
learning experiences, maintaining overall positive morale, providing
constructive feedback to students. Teaching them on how to be tech-

friendly by collaborating on assignments and projects. Besides studies, DPS continued with extracurricular
activities, competitions on digital platform for overall child development. Encouraging students to learn coding
is one such initiative.
DPS has indeed taken a big leap to turn an epidemiological crisis into an educational opportunity, truly justifying
their slogan “SERVICE BEFORE SELF”.

The school and its teachers are the most important factors and roots of every child’s education and bright
future as school is the first stage of every person’s life.

In the sudden situation of nationwide lockdown, education and
studies of the students was a matter of great concern for all the
parents and the teachers as well. The schools came up with the
idea of providing virtual classes to the students, making it
possible for the students to continue their studies in a smooth
manner.
I really appreciate the efforts of the teachers. In the present
critical situation, the students are able to keep up with the studies,
which is all possible because of your responsible efforts. This is really a great initiative taken by the teachers
to provide us with quality education.
Not only academic, but DPS Jaipur School and its teachers are also focusing on getting the students involved
in various activities through videos, PPT’s and assignments involving their families and friends which helped
our children build social skills and confidence.

The online school is indeed a new gate which has opened into the virtual world for all the students as well as
the schlllool authorities. New experiences, new learning, new surroundings for
everyone but even in these detestable times we all are standing together as one!
The teachers, giving their whole and sole just to teach the students even when
they are far from them is are just a blessing in disguise. Without the enthusiasm
and the zest of the schools, this year couldn’t have made the most of it but I, as
a parent of two children can proudly say that DPS Jaipur has succeeded in
instilling the knowledge in the minds of the students even via internet. Teaching

on screens is surely a tiresome work as we all can agree but, teaching with fun is the desire of all students which
is being fulfilled here. A big thank you to all the school management for making this year not so different from
the normal ones and showing these little minds the pathway to success!

Ken Robinson once said, “All children start their school careers with sparkling imaginations, fertile minds and
a willingness to take risks with what they think.” When Kavya
first became a part of this institution back in 2015, she had
similar expectations. We wanted a school which would help her
grow, which would push her everyday to be not just a better
student but also a better version of herself. Delhi Public School
has played an enormous and principal role in helping her become
the person she is today, assisted her in her transition from a child
to a young adult. The learning experience provided by the
faculty of the school along with the people she met and the
friends she made there has shaped and transformed her personality to a great extent. From MUNs to assemblies,
the school has aided the development of her self confidence and has always pushed her to explore and try out
new activities. Her journey with this institute comes to an end within a few months and we feel nothing but
gratitude that she got the opportunity of being part of such an incredible institution, to meet and mingle with all
the wonderful people.

As we all know that we are suffering from the corona pandemic. Initially, we thought that if kids would not go
to school then their studies would be hit very badly. But gradually,
schools started teaching kids digitally.
The concept of online teaching evolved and teachers and students learned
the method of online classes. Especially, DPS adopted the concept of
online teaching very gracefully and achieved the regularity of routine
teaching with ease. School also successfully conducted virtual quizzes,
tests, competitions, art & craft, music & dance and even casual games
along with study/ academics.

Although there will always be some differences in physical and online classes, like we are having 4-5 online
classes daily instead of 7-8 as per usual. Still, we think that this the best we can get in these tough times. All
teachers have adopted online teaching methods very nicely, always motivating the students to do their studies.
We hope that soon we will have the vaccine ready and everything will be back to normal.

THE MOST MISSED PLACE IN 2020 – OUR SCHOOL

Talking about this year, I don’t think I’ll need to ride rollercoasters at
amusement parks anymore. This has been a really bumpy ride. Had it
not been for the constant support and hardwork of my teachers, I
don’t know how I would’ve been able to push myself this far, to my
limits. Actually, I don’t know my limits yet. Judging by how this year
went, I probably never will.

Learning online was rather an unusual experience for a student like me
who never in his 15 years of school life had attended a single online

our teachers left no stone unturned in order to help us out no matter how
far we were. I’ll always be grateful to have them by my side.

Initially when the online classes commenced in the month of
March, we students and the teachers were unaccustomed to the
new way of teaching. The teachers have worked extremely
hard in ensuring that we understand our concepts with ease. I
cannot thank the teachers enough for taking the time to explore
different methods and coming up with innovative ways so that
we students are benefitted. It is indeed amazing how we have
successfully turned around a grim situation of a pandemic to
an uncompromised and engaging learning opportunity.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there has been a paradigm shift in
the way teaching is taking place in all schools these days. This has
not been easy for anyone and, nothing can ever replace the human
touch, the physical presence of a teacher in a class full of students,
buzzing with vibrant activity. However, given the scenario, our
teachers have proved to be covid warriors by shifting to the virtual
learning platforms. Our teachers have encouraged us to be
independent learners, to take onus for our learning. We, as students
must acknowledge and pledge our side of the commitment. The
teachers are doing their best; so must they fulfil their part. Our
teachers make every effort to bring about thematic integration from
local, national and global perspectives so as to give us the opportunity to explore a diverse
range of topics and connect them more meaningfully. They consciously try to balance out the
content with effective delivery. My salute to all the teachers of DPS Jaipur for helping and
guiding us to stand in such difficult times.

Little did I know that the last year of my school life would be spent
sitting in front of a computer screen and not having TRUE offline
teaching. Now there’s only a month left for me to rejoice last days
of my SR. secondary level of education and I hope of making each
day count and living the school’s environment to its fullest. The only
thing that has struck a chord with me, rather a realisation, is that
nothing can replace offline/ real teaching. We may go on debating
on topics like “Can computer replace books “! No, according to my
experience of last year, they can never replace books!

This year, the school life of 12th graders was like the story of a movie
taking an unexpected turn. Classes never felt like classes. Every chatter
of classroom turned into video calls. Meeting our friends in person
became a wish. And so did getting scoldings from teachers, which used
to be the case everyday. Our school life ended a year earlier than usual.
I will always cherish the fond memories of my physical classes but the
online classes were also a super hit as our teachers made the best use of
every opportunity to help us, train us, guide us and instill good values in
us. We are blessed to be mentored by such efficient, hardworking and
caring teachers. Will always be indebted to all my Gurus.

GRAPHIC NOVEL PROJECT REPORT

In continuance to assist and expose the young students to learn in joyful
and innovative pedagogy, Delhi Public School, Jaipur, under the able
guidance of our Principal, Ms. Rita P Taneja, undertook the Graphic
Novel Project to create Graphic Novels in Science, Social Science,
Mathematics, Psychology and Hindi as supportive reading material to
enthuse the young learners for becoming sustained, self-directed learners.

The journey was made easy as all the teachers joined hands for this new
venture by cogitating and collaborating online to sort out the small issues
and speed up the work amidst the other academic concerns and the Project Heads ensured streamlined
completion of work in a harmonious manner.

The experiential learning while integrating art and technology into curriculum opened new avenues to
explore. From conceptualising the script and writing dialogues, clarifying learning objectives and focus
on learning outcomes, preparing periodic reflection sheets to assess and ignite the imagination of learners,
were the core essentials of the Graphic Novels. The Art work done by the students and teachers played a
pivotal role in designing of lively illustrations. The academic topics like Linear Equation, Nationalism in
India, Mental Disorders, Cells and Story of Water were woven into real life incidents for easy relatable
learning to allow the children to comprehend, retain and apply the knowledge.

These Graphic Novels as part of the library will enrich the students and will also be used as tools of
Formative Assessments, SEA in the form of Role Plays, Interviews, Debates, Miming, Discussions, Story-
telling, etc. They will be uploaded on the Deeksha Portal of CBSE for wider reach.

Curation of Graphic Novels was an enriching and exciting task completed with deep cogitation, support
and collaboration of all the stakeholders.
Sincere gratitude to the Principal Ma’am Rita P Taneja, Sandeep Sethi Sir for their constant guidance and
motivation and the entire Team of educators and students who in a time bound frame produced creatively
endowed content which will be a visual extravaganza for the students.
