“SINGING IN DARK TIMES”
‘Take risks: if you win, you will be happy! If you lose you will be wise!’
Trying times test one’s character and the grim situation unfolding over the COVID-19 pandemic will put on trial
that of ours as a nation. Of particular worry is our creaky healthcare infrastructure that seems hard-pressed to cope
even at normal times.
With the unfolding global coronavirus pandemic leading to people being confined to their homes, borders being
shut and economic instability, it can be hard not to feel overwhelmed by the state of the world at the moment. Even
in times of stress and anxiety we can lift up our mood.
The science of emotions is incredibly complicated but it is also well studied. There are many tips for coping better
with stress. We can improve our mood by focusing on small things that bring happiness to us each day. At a distance
it can be really useful to have specific friends to discuss coursework in a positive way. Using mindfulness, a state
of mind and form of non-spiritual meditation practice can also be very helpful in managing mood and emotions.
Always find time for the things that make you feel happy and alive. Coming to come together for the greater good
especially in these difficult circumstances, provides the best hope for our future.

MY EXPERIENCE DURING CORONA
Corona has changed our life like never before. The changes caused by corona virus are huge but slowly we are coping up
especially children. My routine was changed a lot with no regular school. I was overjoyed when the new routine of online classes
came into effect. No more getting up early, no more heavy bags, no boring uniforms, no more school! It seemed so wonderful.
But was it really so wonderful? After a month of this supposedly brilliant routine, I started experiencing frequent headaches.
Why? My ophthalmologist answered that it was due to increased screen time. Then I realized that this was because of the harmful
blue light of the laptop. I was not allowed to go outside so no sunshine no exercise. I even developed a backache due to increased
hours of sitting at one place. Online classes were becoming very demanding. I felt pressurized as I helplessly stared at the screen
learning my answers, I got highly nervous and messed up my online exams because I was worried about how to attempt them,
with slow network speed adding up to my misery. With the TV blaring news on corona fatalities my anxiety level was increasing.
As if this wasn’t enough my whole family contracted corona with only me to spare. The difficult days of isolation, quarantine
stressed me out.
However, we children are very ingenious. So, I have also found new ways of coping up, for example, yoga and meditation. It
has made me mentally strong. I have started doing eye exercises which have really helped. In corona times the biggest challenge
is to adapt and surprisingly children have adapted the best. I am doing exercises of various types at home. I have become more
tech-savvy. I have also more or less adapted to the ‘new normal’ hoping that very soon I will be back in the classroom with my
friends creating a din in the class and will get to hear the affectionate rebuke of my teachers, the world will be more alive with
everyone back to their old routine, me being one of them.

CHILDREN COPING WITH THE STRESS OF BEING ALONE
Millions of children have been adversely affected by the global coronavirus pandemic. This widespread calamity
has claimed around 1.6 million lives globally. Countries, in an attempt to quell the pandemic, have enforced
lockdown and self-quarantine - closing schools, colleges and offices. Encountering new realities of homeschooling
and lack of physical contact with our colleagues and friends, we need to take care of our mental and physical well-
being. Schools have started taking place online through video-calling based applications like Zoom and Microsoft-
Teams. Likewise, examinations are being conducted through emails and online forms.
According to the World Health Organization, fear and isolation due to the virus is triggering mental diseases and
increasing previous complications. Children have also not been able to play outdoors with their friends due to the
scare of contracting the virus. Hence Covid-19 has affected children mentally as well as physically.
Now, as the case count is dropping, life seems to be coming back; children have started playing with their friends,
talking to them through mobile phones and video calling them as well. This has helped everyone to cope with this
disaster in a better way. Since parents are also working from home, this has led to a better bonding in the families,
whereas earlier the parents had time for the kids only during the weekends. Parents are also supervising their
children more often now, which may feel constraining at times, but it will also help them reassure that they are not
alone. The schools may have closed but the studies have resumed. Even online competitions have been organized.
The examinations have also begun, but they are easier as students can write them in the comfort of their homes.
However, it remains a challenge, both for teachers and the pupils to navigate through this new normal.

ACADEMICS ALWAYS GO ON
‘CHILDREN COPING WITH STUDIES DURING PANDEMIC
‘When today’s children will grow up, they will forever see themselves as more intuitive and dignified youth of
the world.’ The power and the aim to keep studying come what may, have truly shown their capability.
While some children are not able to cope up with the new change due to the lack of resources, others are in full
swing to maintain their studies. Here, we will be looking at both the negative and the positive aspects of the
system of online education. According to the recent survey, many children are unable to continue with the
academics due to the assets needed for the new change. In India many underprivileged kids can’t experience the
joy of learning since the beginning due to abject poverty. However, with the distinctive rise of e-learning, it has
become a far-fetched dream for those also who were trying due to technological insufficiency.
“The world is a race” but still there are very few people to tell them, what to do when the track abruptly changes.
No one teaches these kids from disadvantaged backgrounds on how to handle this sudden change. Online
learning is effective but unplanned and rapid move to online learning- with insufficient bandwidth and little
preparation has resulted in poor user experience especially in under developed countries.
To get the full benefit of online education, the government should provide access to free online learning
platforms so that children from all backgrounds can access them. There should also be more focus on
development of critical thinking and adaptability rather than traditional academic skills and rote learning.
Right now looking forward to a positive beginning, and keeping faith that ‘when we all defend, this shall too
will end’, remain the only choice until the end of the pandemic.

THE NOVEL COVID
The Novel Covid-19 pandemic has made our lives worse than what anyone could imagine. Most of our thoughts
in this pandemic were negative, some rarely being positive. But if we dive deeper in our own thoughts, we will
find ample of things to get out of our gloomy thoughts.
Probably, the first ones that we can reflect upon are related to the environment. Even before the pandemic
everyone was concerned about the welfare of the environment. Campaigns, schemes and protests could do no
better to our environment. Surely, it is a true saying that ‘Nature always finds a way to heal itself.’ Factories,
vehicles and normal life came to a stop and life was left confined just to our homes as a result the pollution level
decreased to such a level, that some of us could even see the Himalayas far away!
Also, another positive is that vaccines have been invented by Pharma companies like Pfizer, Moderna. The UK
and US have started vaccinating their population and other countries will follow soon. The Pfizer vaccine has
given immense relief to everyone concerned about the pandemic. Also, it is stated that by mid-2021, this
pandemic will be under control. This is also a great alleviation for the economy of the countries which have
drowned in these months. Each country will try and gain back their own economy with these means. It is also
giving us our normal lives back which we used to live a few months ago.
At last, I would like to end by saying that we will face and should face everything in life, light and dark, warmth
and coldness, happiness and sadness, as with time things get back to normal. Whatever may be the condition, we
should be positive!

CHILDREN ARE COPING WITH THE STRESS OF ACADEMICS INDOORS UNDER
CONSTANT PARENT SUPERVISION
Children are adapting to the new study environment and system; however, they are facing constant stress while
working on academics in their homes. They are under constant parent supervision which puts a lot of pressure
on them to work hard on their academics.
Even though they remain in their houses, it is not easy for students to work as efficiently as they did in school.
It is very normal for children to get distracted at home while working. But with online studies, it is more likely
to happen. So, they are under a state of stress that they have to keep working hard as there is no other place to
study. Teachers are working hard but they cannot keep an eye on the students at all times, so the duty falls to
parents. Students, along with peers and teachers studied while having fun with no additional place to put their
minds to, but now a lot of them feel less motivated as it is not the same so they are anxious that their work ability
has weakened. They are stressed about the fact that they may not be able to work as efficiently as before by only
remaining indoors while their parents constantly push them to work even though the situation has changed and
their methods have to change too.

ARE HUMANS SMART?
Humans are considered to be the smartest creatures. But the truth is that we are much more than ‘smart’. We are
‘over smart’. We experimented with nature and the world. Whenever we couldn’t adapt to it, we made it adapt to
us. To say that ‘humans’ made progress is to say that humans made their surroundings more advanced.
Have we as humans really made ‘progress’? Nurtured by our excessive ‘smartness’, we never realized that we were
losing our adaptability. Now when our experiments with nature are backfiring upon us, we are helpless. They are
posing a threat to our very survival, yet we cannot think of making even small amends to our lifestyle which will
hugely improve the critical situation we have landed ourselves in, like using water more judiciously or planting
more trees. We have spoilt ourselves by making our lives over-convenient, and now cannot adapt to what the
inevitable future will be.
We still have a chance, to right our wrongs. And that too, we will only be able to accomplish if we make a better
use of our ability to think wisely and execute judiciouly.

THE BEST THINGS IN LIFE ARE FREE
Money? Check. Expensive gifts? Check. Cool toys? Check. Gorgeous perfumes and handbags? Check. Awesome
gadgets? Check, check, check!
“The best things in life are free”. What does this ancient yet deep proverb mean? It means that there are things in
this world that money cannot buy. The most valuable things in life don’t have a price tag. They don’t cost any money.
They are free.
I love this proverb. It summarizes the essence of life in one phrase.
We, as individuals run after money. There’s always this one more thing that we WANT and NOT NEED. We never
try to appreciate the things in life that truly matter rather we embrace temporary happiness.
The things in life that truly matter to me and are free are- some of the loveliest green parks along the road, a secluded
stretch of beach, sound of and feel of rain, that feeling I get after a good morning run, that small nap that I have
cuddled in my bed and in my comforter on a cold day, banter of/with friends and “I have your back” kind of special
friend, travel memories, spending quality time with your father, watching a movie with him sitting on the same
recliner, blessings of a loving family, listening to the gaggle of your sibling and having their adoration (read worship)
and last but not the least- THAT YEARNING TO KNOW AND LEARN MORE…..
These things can be enjoyed to the fullest anytime! They are remembered for a lifetime. Gaining many dollars is
short-term happiness, but traveling along with my family and having a great time enjoying the pool and those endless
chocolate ice-creams together, that memory is invaluable.
You might have come across young children saying “My father owns an awesome sports car. It has a sunroof and it
is so cool!” Likewise, someone else might say “Do you know? My dad owns a private jet and we travel in that”.
Some people think that being rich/super rich will get them, friends. Well, I don’t think that’s true. Money can attract
people who might act as friends, but friendship cannot be bought. One gains a friend by being honest, kind, and
having distinctive qualities in themselves.
We have a badminton court in our building, when I go there to train, all the others leave/adjust their timings as per
my coaching, and this feeling is priceless. This willingness to help me achieve my dream cannot be bought with
money. Furthermore, an individual may be happy for some time with the wealth he/she has but when it comes to
family matters, one will always cherish the pleasant moments and fun with siblings.
Last of all, my message to all is realize and pay attention to the real and priceless things in life. Don’t give money
more importance than yourself, your family, and your life’s best moments. Cherish the life and blessings given by
God instead of chasing money and the things related to it.

LIFE: AN ONGOING LEARNING PROCESS
Anticipation is something which humans love to do. We can predict cyclones, economy, emotions and in some
cases football matches too.
But could anyone envision the 366 days of 2020? We were clueless of a pandemic of this severity. Could anyone
imagine that we wouldn’t go to school this academic year? As is well said: ‘Necessity is the mother of all
inventions’. Human mind and body has the remarkable potential to acclimatize and adapt to the given
circumstances. Did life stop in these 366 days? NO!
Humanity which is ready to learn, adapt, hope and think out of the box very promptly adopted and accepted the
‘new normal’, implemented it so suddenly and in most cases effectively. This absolutely different phase of life
introduced us to our innate capabilities, potentials, capacities and fertility of human brain.
Dalgona coffee, baking and what not. People found some or the other activity to spend their time, showing a
progressive and versatile nature of the human mind.
But we must continue with this. This is not the last pandemic. It’s just a wakeup call. We must be prepared for the
toughest of the upcoming situations.
It’s the COVID-19 pandemic which has taught us something deep, something holistic. It has made us learn the fact,
that Earth is not a human property. We are just a part of the larger eco-system of this beautiful planet. We must
contribute in protecting and preserving it, not annihilating, eroding or destroying.
Entering 2021:
a resolution to be more alert and aware;
more sensitive and empathetic;
more global and broad minded;
more altruistic and co-operative is imperative.

PLANET EARTH HAS HEALED DURING THE PANDEMIC
All it took was a global pandemic shut down, and there it is. Less industrial pollution, less vehicular pollution, less
noise pollution at air ports, and lot lesser litter on roads!
The earth has been healing itself while we have stayed locked in our houses. There are reports of Ganges water
being sparkling clean again like it was few years ago; the Himalayas being visible from the towns of Punjab; ozone
layer sealing itself eventually; air quality index improving significantly; birds singing in chorus in our cities;
flamingos flocking Mumbai; animals coming out of hiding and roaming on the streets across various towns; Venice
streams running clear and many more. Earth is regaining its beauty eventually.
If all it took for the earth to heal was a month and half of no human intervention, it shows the power nature possesses
to make things right; and the power humans possess to just make them wrong. While we were panicking about
corona virus, mother earth was healing itself.
It will heal itself with or without our help. Now is the high time we realize it.
This pandemic has been both a devil and a blessing in disguise.

MUSIC CAN BRING CONTENTMENT TO THE SOUL
Covid-19 has brought turmoil to our lives. The year 2020 or the Corona year made us all think negatively a lot but
still something kept the spark of positivity alive that is MUSIC. Music brings contentment and happiness to one’s
soul.
This year might have made all of us sad to a certain extent but ‘Dynamite’ by the K-pop sensation BTS lit the
hearts of many people. This track made people all around the world dance to its tune. Later in the month of
November, BTS released another song ‘Life goes on’. By listening to the song, you can feel that even after
being inside the house for months, we still have to let ourselves be productive and not lose hope.
BTS also represented the lives of the people who suffered from home sickness through the music videos. They
also conveyed the message that after handling these difficult times, we have come across some beautiful memories
with our families.
Even though we thought that COVID-19 had totally ruined everything, sometimes small things might change the way you
live your life and the way you think, completely.

A STRANGELY UNIQUE PHASE
When was the last time you went to the mall with your friends? Our lifestyle has drastically changed because
of the Covid-19 crisis. This phase is going to be one of the strangest moments of our lives – a time when we
had a dramatic change in our routine and life. This phase is not exactly terrible but a path for new opportunities
and learning. Could you find a change in your mindset?
During this pandemic crisis, most of the activities have stopped in the country. This stopped the ongoing noise
and chaos and allowed us to think and contemplate in silence. Even if our lives have suddenly turned
monotonous, we have learnt a lot in these months. There are some who learnt to cook, bake or play an
instrument, there are some who studied or were busy in their work all the time and there are some who did not
do much. For many, this period provided ample time to prepare for the future in the post-Covid era. We eat
Maggi more frequently than before! We have spent quality time with not only our families but with our inner
thoughts and feelings.

NATURE: NEW LEASE FOR LIFE
The pandemic has presented a rare opportunity to our planet to heal itself while we stayed locked down in our
houses. During this period of lockdown while factories remained shut and cities devoid of vehicles, the air quality
improved significantly and the clear sky indeed looked blue. Not only Delhi, one of most polluted capital of the
world, but also the other cities around the world showed a drastic drop in the pollution levels giving the earth a
breather to recover a bit from global warming.
The lockdown enabled the wildlife to flourish and rare species of animals were sighted walking into cities joyfully,
revisiting old habitats. Remarkable qualitative changes that occurred in several water bodies gave a new lease of
life to the aquatic flora and fauna. Although the pandemic caused several untimely deaths, it has shown us a way
to save and nurture our planet before it becomes too late.
Unfortunately, as humans are getting hold of this pandemic, we are returning to our bad old habits. Let us not
forget the lessons that nature has taught us in this pandemic period and continue to work for the betterment of our
planet, the Earth.

STUDENTS AND STRESS MANAGEMENT
“Every day brings a choice: to practise stress or to practise peace.”
Stress is a feeling of emotional or physical tension that makes you feel frustrated, angry, or anxious. Stress is an
average individual’s reaction to a challenge or demand. So, stress can be positive when it helps you avoid danger
or meet a deadline, but would affect your health when lasts for a long time.
Students too experience stress just like adults. The Covid-19 pandemic resulted in the social isolation of the
students. Closure of schools, online classes, increased screen time, homework and virtual exams have added to
their stress level. Peer pressure, not being able to meet their friends and being stuck in their own homes for
months juggling responsibilities in the family with schoolwork also cause stress.
However, students can reduce their stress by simply doing activities that they like. Listening to music, dancing,
drawing, playing with their siblings, and even writing a journal can prove to be immediate stress busters. When
they want to meet their friends, they can catch up with them via a phone call or a video chat. One should therefore,
stay strong and positive even during hard times because ‘Storms don’t last forever’.

ONLINE EDUCATION IS THE FUTURE OF EDUCATION
Due to the corona-pandemic, we all have been shut inside our homes. From this lockdown, we all have learnt
that many of the things that were done offline, can be done online as well. One such thing is online learning.
Online learning has changed the scenario of education. It is a flexible way of attaining education and helps save
time and money. One can learn or teach any time and from anywhere in the world. Online education also offers
a wide range of programmes. We can access online study material, modules, tests, quizzes etc. using a computer
or mobile with an internet connection. Students can also get diplomas, degrees and certificates without the hassle
of going anywhere. Online classes also help children to communicate and interact better with their teachers.
Online education has opened a world of opportunities. Recently, students have started developing interest in the
fields like robotics, programming, coding, creating web pages and other tech related courses to prepare
themselves for the future. Looking at the present scenario, it can be presumed that e-learning would continue to
benefit the learners.

THE POSITIVE SIDE
“No, mummy online classes have started!” (Yes, online classes. Are you shocked? Tracie is having her online
classes. It is the time of the COVID PANDEMIC, 2020. It has spread ALL OVER THE WORLD. There is
negativity everywhere. Let’s see ‘The Positive Side’.)
Tracie’s online classes were now over. She said “Mummy, can I get something to eat?” Her mother gave her
some snacks. Several minutes later, Tracie watched T.V. It was now 1:30 pm when lunch was served. She
quickly finished it and told her mummy about the English Project. She started explaining “Mummy, we have
to write an article on the positive things that have happened in this pandemic.” “Wow, Tracie! That’s a great
idea! We should start right from today.” She agreed and started writing.
Tracie thought a lot about how to start the article, what should be the title and such things. “I think it would be
better if I start with the article first and then the title!” She giggled. Time was ticking and ticking and in no time
her article was ready! She took one and a half an hour to complete it. She didn’t even notice! “Mummy!
Mummy! Where are you? Mummy!” Tracie called her mother very excitedly! Her mother replied “Yes! Yes!
I’m here. In the balcony!” Tracie went there as quickly as possible and read out her whole article.
“Ahem… Ahem… So here, we begin!
‘The Positive Side’
Despite having the biggest negativity of the world, 2020 also has many positive things to talk about! I get to
meet my father any time! 24x7! If it wasn’t the time of COVID he must be going to office. The earth is healing!
Less people are going outside from the fear of COVID hence less pollution in the atmosphere. I got to learn a
lot, a lot of things in technology! I can now call myself ‘Tech Savvy’!!! I even learnt cooking! I have been
cooking with my mummy! I learned to bake a cake! I also think sometimes, what would I be doing if my online
classes wouldn’t have engaged me. I enjoy the online classes a lot and they engage me from 8 am to 12 noon!
And, the BIGGEST thing, MY FAMILY! All families have gotten closer to each other!” Tracie stopped.
Her mother clapped and said “Wow dear, wow! AMAZING!!!” She jumped out of joy and submitted her
English Project. Her teacher praised her a lot! Tracie was very happy! She got very good marks and everyone
was happy!

THE CRYING GOD
On the creation of this world, God was elated. He was pleased as he was employed. Yes, He was blissful as He
had work, to nurture people, to impart people with moral values, to rescue people. As the world started emerging
and growing, the need of God started increasing. Every mortal called for the help of God. As God couldn’t go
everywhere, he employed someone to help people in his absence. That someone was none other than mother.
But what happened next was quite unexpected. As mother went to help people, they thought that she was none
other than God. God’s work was to rescue people, now that mother started doing. His work was to nurture
people, now that mother started doing. His work was to teach people moral values, even that mother started
doing. Mother stole all the magical qualities of God one by one, with God oblivious of all this. When he came
to know about people’s affection towards mother, he regretted and wept a lot, as a mother took his place in
people’s heart making him unemployed till the end of this world.
Translation- There is no shade like a mother, no resort-like a mother, no security like a mother, no other
ever-giving fountain of life!

THE WORST BIRTHDAY
Today was my birthday. And it was definitely the worst day of my life. During the horrible time of this
pandemic, what else can one expect? Mom had forbidden partying or meeting even a single friend
because of her infinite fear of the virus. Could there be a worse birthday? It would have been better if I
had no birthday this year!
I had slept early yesterday as I had no excitement about this awful day. Mom and Dad woke me up at
twelve midnight with a cheerful wish of ‘Happy Birthday’. I noticed a plate of Halwa in Mom’s hands.
“Seriously Mom? Halwa on birthday! You could have ordered a cake at least.”
“But it’s not safe to order things from outside unnecessarily, you know. Just taste this halwa. It’s really
very yummy! I have cooked it with so much love for you, my dear!”
“Mom please! I can’t eat this! You should not have woken me up unnecessarily if you didn’t have a
nice present.”
“But beta…”
And I went back to sleep and covered my face with the blanket.
I remembered how last year my friends had come to my house at midnight with the most beautiful gifts
and such a delicious cake on the occasion of my birthday.
A few days later, I was horrified to know that Mr Sharma, who was a neighbour in our previous
residence, had been infected with the virus and had to be taken to the hospital the day before. And
what’s more ghastly is the fact that it was Sakshi’s birthday that day. Sakshi is Mr Sharma’s daughter
and has been a true friend of mine. I got goosebumps. I could not imagine a worse situation.
I felt guilty and realized how wrong I had been in perceiving my birthday as the worst one. Mom had
made the halwa so affectionately for me and I didn’t even eat it! How rude I had been! I went to her
and gathering courage, apologized to her for my moronic behaviour. She smiled and hugged me
lovingly.
That day, I made a promise to myself that I would always try to find positivity in each and everything.

NEVER LOSE HOPE
Once upon a time there was a woman named Olivia. She was a very sweet and simple person and lived her
life like we do. Suddenly she became very ill and was diagnosed with covid-19. She had to be quarantined
and had to live in isolation. She became very sad about who will look after her children and her family.
A doctor, Mrs Lily came to her and asked, “Dear Olivia, what happened to you, why are you stressed?”
Olivia replied, “Dr Lily, I am worried about my children and my family. How will they manage without
me?” Doctor Lily comforted Olivia and advised her to take rest and look after herself first. Once she was
alright, she would be reunited with her family.
Doctor Lily was suddenly called as there was an emergency. Another patient Sofia had difficulty in
breathing. She was immediately provided oxygen support and became better after a few hours.
Doctor Lily again went to Olivia and said “This covid-19 can become fatal if you leave hope. So, look at
the positive side, take medicines regularly and have patience. You will be alright again.” Olivia was
satisfied with what doctor Lily said and she kept patience. After several days finally Olivia was covid-19
free and her report was negative. She came back home and lived happily and safely with her family.

THE UNKNOWN
The story you are about to read is a murder mystery.
The main characters of the story are Echo, Alpha, Beta, Charlie, Delta.
Read With CAUTION!
CHARACTERS: Echo (The narrator/main character), Alpha (Teammate) , Beta(Teammate), Charlie(best
friend/Teammate),Delta(Most trusted Teammate),Bob(Head of the agency),Katherine(secretary of the
agency/assassin),John(Bob’s son/ useless spy/new recruit),Dr. Brian(Forensic lab in charge/victim),
Max(Dr. Brain’s son), June(Dr. Brian’s daughter), Bulma(Dr. Brian’s wife), Sarah(The intel gatherer)
INTRODUCTION:
Day 0, Time:11:59 p.m.
It was the same loud and crazy night in New York. Suddenly, I (Echo)received a call from a random number;
the username was UNKNOWN. Although being scared (BECAUSE IT’S THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT),
I picked up the call “Mark my words, after 31 minutes there is going to be a murder at Times Square” and
before I got to say anything the call ended. I had to go there, I had to save that person’s life! As me and my
team were always on a call together, they all said at the same time “Roger that Echo”. I immediately took
my hat (to stay undercover) and rode off to Times Square and took the lift to go on the top of a building for
more information.
Day 1, Time-12:25 a.m.
PART 1: THE CHASE
Charlie arrived at the (meeting point) building whereas Alpha, Beta and Delta were on the roofs on the
adjacent buildings. Suddenly, Alpha said on the call, ‘There is a man with two children walking on the road.’
‘Copy that’ me and Charlie repeated and came to the ground floor via the lift. He (the man) fell and the two
children gasped and ran, ‘there’s blood on the street, catch them Echo!’ Beta, Alpha and Delta said. I was
really good at baseball and started chasing the two kids, whereas Charlie followed. When I got tired and they
didn’t, I said ‘Put your hands in the air and lie down on the street or I’ll shoot, don’t make me.’ When I
approached it was hard for me to recognize them but I did, Max and June, the children of Dr. Brian, our
forensic lab in charge. Charlie said ‘The victim is Dr. Brian, I repeat it’s doctor Brian.’ I said ‘I had a hunch.’
Day 1, Time- 1:05 a.m.
PART 2: THE AGENCY
We took the body and the kids to our outpost, when we reached, everyone started gasping and asking us
irrelevant questions like: ‘Who killed him?’ asked Sarah our intel gatherer ‘How did it happen?’ asked John
the son of our boss. I don’t like to say his name but it is funny it is ‘BOB’. Anyway, I replied ‘Why don’t we
find out?’ and then came our boss and her secretary- Katherine. Her job was to assassinate people and she
did that perfectly, she came to us and asked us a question,‘When did it happen?’ The team replied, ‘12:28’
Katherine said, ‘How do you know, did you kill him?’ Delta replied in negative. ‘How can I trust you, you
are sweating. That means you are lying!’ I stopped Delta because he was turning red. Then our boss came
up and said, ‘You have ten days to find the murderer and prove it, otherwise you and your team will be
executed’. Then we put Max and June in custody. Charlie and Delta were interrogating them and Alpha and
Beta and Sarah were gathering intel. I rested for the hectic night and my phone buzzed, it was the same
unknown. ‘I was involved you know but you would never even question me.’ He was using a voice modulator
because his voice was heavily bass boosted. I couldn’t even question anyone regarding this. Now I started
questioning myself who could it be? Could it be my team? Alpha? Beta? Charlie? I would not question Delta!
He took a bullet for me and did not regret it. I called Charlie and briefed him about the situation and to take
Delta and interrogate him. ‘Don’t leave him until you think he tells the truth, and make it long and painful.’
Day 1, Time- 8:45 a.m.
PART 3: THE FAMILY
We let out Max and June and after an hour because we couldn’t get anything out of them. I went to Park
Avenue house 301 address as given by Sarah and the others. I knocked at the door and heard someone sobbing
and approaching. Bulma (Brian’s wife) opened the door. She was still crying and I entered the house. It was
a beautiful house but the negative vibes made it a lot bad. It was very awkward but I still asked questions
that I wanted to. He was killed by poison, could you or your children have somehow mixed it in his tea? She
shook her head. Did he have any enemy because of land or something? She said ‘ We lived a very normal
and peaceful life , he came home at 8 and took the children to ice-cream and came home till 9’. Ok thanks. I
went to Max now I said, ‘Did you have any fight with any kid at school?’ ‘No’. Now I went to June and said
, ‘Did you taste your dad’s ice-cream?’ ‘Yes, me and Max both did’. Okay I left, it was no use talking to his
family, l slammed the door while leaving. I was halfway there my pocket buzzed I just picked the call
knowing it was UNKNOWN. ‘there’s no point in searching over at their house, I’m not there. And there’s a
surprise for you at the agency, head over there. I knew it was a trap so…...
Day 1, Time- 9:45 a.m.
PART 4: THE PHYSCO
I went there after an hour. When I reached I saw Dr. Brian’s body. At first nothing was unusual but when I
looked closely, there were three holes in his blanket with a patch of blood. He was stabbed three times on
the left of his stomach that meant that the murderer was not only smart but was left handed. And guess what,
there were 7 people in the agency who were left handed, they were me, my team- Beta ,Charlie and of course
Delta, and Bob, Katherine and John and there was an encrypted code only me Alpha, Beta, Charlie, Delta
and Katherine and Bob knew. It took me three days to find the meaning of the code and it meant: “The
murderer is closer than you think and it’s more than one”. I called the entire agency up and then asked
questions from the other people of the forensic lab. I asked them if Sarah found the murderer, they said no
but we were really close and about the poison, it was not meant to kill a person but was meant to make him
unconscious and made him breathe once an hour. That’s why we could not keep track of his breathing. The
CCTV of the entire building was blocked for 2 hours but there is one clip in the entire 2 hours (the clip was
played, in it Brian woke up and after skipping the CCTV static (because the CCTV was again blocked)he
was again on his stretcher with a patch of blood. I said, ‘Zoom on the patch of blood.’ After zooming in,
wheels were marked on blood nothing else) The murderer is in this room and is one of us. I said. Everyone
asked, ‘How do you know?’ I told everything that happened these past days, unknown and the way of the
stab. I went in the front to talk to everyone else and what I saw and heard gave me a minor heart attack, in
the reflection of the mirror I saw Katherine and John pointing the gun at me and everyone gasped. They
threatened everyone.
PART 5: THE END, SORT OF
‘If anyone moves, we are going to shoot Echo. Me and my team were always on a call together. I whispered,
‘Move and get John, I can see Katherine through the mirror. I can dodge because she is aiming for my head,
on my mark do everything’. ‘On it’, said everyone. John screamed ‘What are you whispering! do you want
a bullet to your face?’ and ‘GO!’ Everything went exactly as planned but Katherine shot, I cartwheeled to
the side and she shot again but this time Bob came in front and took the bullet. She shot Bob and then shot
John. ‘You Monster! How could you kill your own companion?!! What are you a psychopath?’, I said
‘Guessed correctly’ ‘Ethan’. (yes, my name is Ethan) ‘How could you?’ I said. ‘It was easy, just shot the
guy, he couldn’t get me a promotion. And yes I am an assassin. It’s easy to kill when your job is to kill
people.’ Katherine said. I was trying to get closer to her so that I could disarm her, but she was stern, she
shot a warning shot towards my feet, but as I am, I dodged it. I decided to run towards her with all my might,
I know it was stupid, and I learned my lesson I took a bullet in my chest and almost collapsed. But still I
rammed in her, and she was out of the window from the third floor and on the street. Alas, I shot her in the
head just for caution. Now I figured it out, John was unknown and Katherine turned on his crime partner just
because she was a psychopath (WHO ADMITTED BEING A PSYCHOPATH!). And I slammed on the
ground and was unconscious for about 3 hours. When I woke up, my ribs felt like they broke (which they
did). Anyways I couldn’t believe it but it was true, I was declared head of the agency for my hard work and
me and my team were always highly acknowledged from that day.

ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS
One fine day, when it was lunch break at school, a boy named Harry went up to see if any notices were
pinned up on the notice board about the upcoming Sports Day in his school. There it was, a list of selected
athletes who would be taking part. Right on top, was “Harry Johnson”. How proud Harry felt! Indeed, he
was the fastest runner in the whole school and had already received five gold medals at the Sports Day.
People called him “The mini Bolt”.
Harry was shocked the next day to see a new notice and a very important one put up. It said that “John Terry,
a runner has been dropped down from the team. He has been replaced by Robert Jones”. Harry was very
disappointed because John was his best friend and John had been dropped down because he had a very serious
injury.
Harry didn’t know Robert’s speed in running. But was sure that no one could beat him. Harry thought that
he would go up to Robert and challenge him. Robert was speechless when Harry talked to him in a mocking
manner. But, he decided to repay Harry by actions. He would ignore Harry’s arrogant manner and would
prove himself by winning the upcoming race and receiving the medal. This he promised to himself.
So now the big day arrived! The Sports Day! When the race began, Robert was determined and confident.
Harry was overconfident and boasted a lot about him. Anyways, when the race began, Robert ran as fast as
lightning. Harry was far behind him…When the race was over; a huge round of applause began. Guess what?
Robert had won the race! He couldn’t believe it. This was his first race and he had secured a gold!
When Robert stood on the podium, everyone clapped for him. After the celebrations, Harry himself went to
Robert and congratulated him. Robert felt proud of himself but he was not arrogant about it. He accepted
Harry’s apology and from that day onwards, their friendship began. Harry never again boasted about himself
and Robert dreamt about going to the Olympics soon.

ONLINE CLASSES EVERYTHING WILL BE OKAY!
Coronavirus has taken so much, When my head goes through a turmoil,
It made our loved one go away from us. And the world doesn’t seem nice,
We are stuck in our homes and we must stay. When something tends to trouble me,
We have cancelled our plans, to go away. And when lots of worries rise,
Our school is off, online classes are on, When everything seems so abnormal,
Still very confusing, but making the way. And nothing happens according to me,
I miss my chats with friends, the food in canteen, When I’m not able to handle myself,
But now we only have online chats and home-school. And life isn’t the way I expected it to be,
Digital classes are in full swing A hand strokes my head gently,
We love the virtual interaction with teacher and friends, And a voice says, “Everything will be
We will do it forever if that’s what it takes okay!”
To keep our loved one’s sound and safe. Yes, that’s my mom who makes,

WHY I DIDN’T MISS MY SCHOOL DURING
THE LOCKDOWN! RAINS
My school, my school The mighty sun when fails to rule the skies,
Beautiful and so cool The blazing, scorching, troubling heat then
I will only be a fool dies.

I was happy and full of fun And winds begin to howl, so pleasing cool.

And nothing to be done. Watering the plants, quenching birds’ thirst.

and they turned my room into my school. Overwhelming me, the droplets so small.
Teams and zoom, where teachers are with me The trees then dance and sway, the winds

When they ask me to keep the video on The drizzle starts so pleasing, soothing slow.
I am just like a big lawn gnome The clouds upon the air then roar and

I’m grateful to my mentors The drizzle starts so light and soft and
