jnanamanjari final 2019-20

jnanamanjari final 2019-20

MESSAGE

“You have to set goals that are almost out of reach. If you set a
goal that is attainable without much work or thought, you are
stuck with something below your true talent and potential”

My best wishes to the Principal, staff and students of Kalalaya
in aiming high, setting extraordinary benchmarks and achieving
their goals this year with hard work, integrity and sincerity.
Swami Vivekananda said, “Arise, Awake, and stop not till the
goal is reached.” May all of you be blessed with good health and
happiness in your march towards your goals.

-Dr. Smt. Vathsala Narayanaswami

Have faith in yourself

11 September 1893 is an important landmark in our country’s history.
On that day at the Parliament of Religions gathering in Chicago, Swami
Vivekananda, one of our greatest spiritual leaders, rose up to give a
very brief speech representing India and Hinduism. “Sisters and
brothers of America”, he began and was greeted by a two minute
standing ovation. He then went on to talk about tolerance and universal
acceptance of all religions. Vivekananda strength came from his own
belief that he could help the poor and change the world. “Have faith in
yourself — all power is in you” he exhorted his disciples, which is of
great relevance even in today’s world. Every day brings us new
experiences and it also brings in infinite possibilities to do new things.
All we need to do is work with passion, with good attention to detail.
And keep faith in ourselves that we are capable of pulling off a great
achievement. “This world is a great gymnasium where we come to make
ourselves strong”, he has said in one of his writings. Let’s become
strong to serve humanity!

Best Wishes,

MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK

The thought uppermost in my mind as I pen
down a message for this edition of

GNANAMANJARI is the importance of

gratitude. This essential quality seems to
be in short supply and people always seem
to want more, rather than being thankful
for what they have. My dear students, be
thankful for all your blessings – your
family, teachers, friends and everything
else that you have. Make the best of these
which have been bestowed upon you.
Gratitude and contentment are the keys to
unlock your inner potential and scale
greater heights.

FROM THE VICE PRINCIPAL’S DESK

I was surprised to see my son using
something called a PROMODORO timer –
looked more like a plastic tomato to me.
When questioned he explained that this is
a time management method which uses a
timer to break down work into intervals of
25 minutes separated by short breaks.
Promodoro is the Italian word for tomato –
explaining the shape of the timer as used
by its developers Francesco Cirllo in the
late 1980s. This technique not only
improves focus and concentration – the
breaks dispel the monotony.

In today’s scenario where students are
bombarded with so many distractions –
focussing on the task at hand has become a
great challenge. This technique will prove
very effective. Divide the time available into
25 minute capsules. After 2 capsules take a
10 minute break. Decide on your to do list,
focus, work hard, work smart take breaks

and ensure completion of the task at hand
– be it academics, sports, time on social
media, friend time, reading TV time and
scale the heights to success.
Wishing all Kalalayans all the very best for
a wonderful year ahead.

Vice Principal

Editor’s Note

“Reading gives us someplace to go when we have to

stay where we are” -Mason Cooley

They are uniquely portable magic. Books can transport you to
a totally different world. It can be the best option to relax in
the mundane everyday life that poses a lot of stress to our
brain. It paves a way to understand the different characters
we encounter in our life.

Reading a variety of books enables us to expand our
vocabulary and change the way we look at people, our
surroundings, or the world at large. Some books are to be
tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed
and digested.

Our school magazine “Jnanamanjari” is our humble effort at
encouraging students to write creatively and keep the joy of
reading alive in a world dominated by technology.
