jnanamanjari final 2019-20

One mosquito bite can cause the disease. Therefore, proper waste
disposal is a quite important step to be taken to control the
proliferation of the virus.

Rarely, dengue can be spread through blood transfusion, organ
transplant, or through a needle stick injury.

Methods of prevention:

The way to prevent dengue fever is to prevent from being infected.
The only way to do so would be to prevent being bitten by the
Aedes species mosquito. This selective avoidance is impossible and
thus the solution is to prevent from being bitten by any and all
mosquitoes. This can be achieved by measures such as the
application of mosquito repellant, and wearing long sleeve shirts
and long pants, which are treated by mosquito repellant.

For this, we could even keep the mosquitoes from reaching us. For
this we could utilize mosquito nets, bed nets, and mosquito traps.

We have thus far talked about defending from the virus. Along
with this, a very effective method to prevent being infected is
going on the offensive, against the mosquitoes, and breaking down
their territory and breeding grounds. This means removing
stagnant water, and keeping a hygienic environment.

Insecticide is a very good way to eliminate the mosquitoes.
However, over time and repeated use, insecticide resistance can
occur in mosquito populations. Insecticide resistance is an overall
reduction in the ability of an insecticide to kill mosquitoes. This
means that, when used as directed, a product no longer works, or
only partially works. This may cause some insecticides to be
ineffective or non functional. This issue is overcome by using a
different insecticide (chemical).

Severe dengue

About 1 in 20 people who get sick with dengue will develop severe
dengue. Severe dengue is a more serious form of disease that can
result in shock, internal bleeding, and even death. You are more
likely to develop severe dengue if you have had a dengue infection
before. Infants and pregnant women are at increased risk for
developing severe dengue. Severe dengue is a medical emergency
and requires immediate medical attention or hospitalization.

PROCRASTINATION IS THE THIEF OF TIME

Procrastination means the action of delaying or postponing
something. Adapting to such dilatory tactics can be compared to
stealing time duration. This proverb “Procrastination is the thief of
time” was told by Edward Young. When a man can complete a
work in an hour, if he purposely delays and takes more time, then
his intention is obvious. We are not procrastinators basically but
we have the habit of procrastinating. .

The more we delay or procrastinate, the more we tend to lose out
on many things of life. Time is a treasure that is insoluble – a
mystery we must set out to figure. By procrastinating, we are
rescheduling the things in our lives that shouldn’t necessarily be
overlooked. The time lost is a loss forever and it can’t be
retrieved. Therefore the proverb ‘procrastination is the thief of
time’ is one adage whose words are effective and truthful in real
life.

Time is a rigid conception of life for humans, something that is
immune to our system. If you are punctual and do things on time
or before time, you are a respected member of society. The ability
to remain consistent with your choices is a proficiency that
necessitates a lot of will-power. Being punctual requires prodigious
values, self-discipline and vigorous determination to do a task on
hand at once. One who does not procrastinate will be more
successful in life emotionally, physically and mentally.

He/She not only wastes his time, but other’s time also. About the
importance of time a lot have been told by many. Anything spent
can be earned and the loss can be made up. But when an hour or a
day passes, it would not come back. Stressing this vital aspect,
Oliver Wendell Holmes had said, “Pick my left pocket of its silver
dime, but spare my right - it holds my golden time!” According to
Holmes, he was ready to sacrifice his silver, but not time. He rated
time on par with the gold.

A student who wastes a lot of time and reads his lessons just a day
before the examination cannot score well. Instead, if he reads the
lesson taught on the same day, then he can simply revise the
portion before the exam. This way he would never get confused.

Be it a student or an employed or a business baron, one has to
plan his own work for the day and for the upcoming days as well.
Students must prepare a time table for studies. The working class
can jot down the day’s work to be done and plan in such a way
that at every stage, his work would be completed and he gets the
pleasure of achieving many things on time frame.

Henceforth, avoid postponing the work. Plan and execute it on
time-bound limit. Keep at it for a few days though it might seem
to be boring or tedious. Once you get used to it, upon completion
of every job, you will feel the exhilaration. Be a master of time, or
otherwise the time will quietly kill you.

MUSIC IS LIFE

"Music is like a dream. One that I cannot hear.”
“Without music, life would be a mistake”
“I can chase you, and I can catch you, but there is nothing I can do
to make you mine.”
“Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the
imagination and life to everything.”
“How is it that music can, without words, evoke our laughter, our
fears, our highest aspirations?”
“If I were not a physicist, I would probably be a musician. I often
think in music. I live my daydreams in music. I see my life in terms
of music.” ― Albert Einstein
“Music is a language that doesn’t speak in particular words. It
speaks in emotions, and if it’s in the bones, it’s in the bones

Cool Facts about Schools around the World

We always criticise our schools almost all the time – too much
homework, too many exams, my school is stressing me out, etc.,
etc. But what we do not know is how other schools in the world
function. There are students who undergo much more hardship in
their schools than what we experience in ours. Of course some
schools are very student-friendly. Let us now dig up some
interesting facts about schools in other countries.

 Schools in Chile start their summer vacation from mid-
December and end in early March. That's three whole
months away from school. Aren’t they lucky?

 French schools have the shortest academic year of 9 months.
Every Wednesday is a half working day. They have two snack
breaks, and one and half hour lunch time. Very tempting to
join a school in the city of love right? Hold on, I haven't
finished yet! Students have long working hours – about 9
hours a day!

 German schools have devised a clever tactic to make children
come to school. Children in Germany receive a special cone,
which is filled with pens, pencils, books and snacks. But the
catch is that they can only open it when they start school. I
guess, they are the only kids who'll be excited about school,
all because of the presents.

 In Holland, children start school on the day they turn 4,
which means that there will be a new student every other day!

 Finland's education is the best in the world where schools
have a lot of recess time, less homework and less test. The
education is completely free for the natives there.

 Schools in Brazil have the shortest working day – from 7am
to 12 noon. This is done to ensure that the kids can have
lunch with their families. Pretty cool!

 In Japanese schools, students are required to clean their
classrooms. It believes that making students mop, sweep and
wipe , would teach them to respect other's work. Yet 99.8%
of the Japanese population are educated. We would refuse to
go to such schools. Then why would they go? It is because
there is no tuition fee and the textbooks and stationary are
distributed free of cost.

 Students in China receive the most homework in the world.
At an average, teenagers do a whopping 14 hours of
homework in a week. Consider yourself lucky, you don't have
to!

TRUE FRIENDSHIP

Making friends for a lot of us comes naturally, but maintaining
these friendships may become somewhat difficult. This is because
true friendship cannot survive without these three aspects: love
respect and honesty. If any of these aspects are lacking in the
friendship, it will slowly disintegrate. True friendship needs equal
shares of love, respect and honesty. Therefore, to maintain true
friendship you need the whole package, just not a part of it.

Love is naturally a part of any relationship in a friendship; love can
mean so many things. It means being there when your friend needs
you, no matter what the circumstance may be. It means listening to
your friend's problem and giving them advice to solve it.

Love ties into respect, which is another important part of true
friendship - Respect in a friendship is just not given, its earned.
Friends usually earn this respect is also giving each other. But
respect is also giving each other personal space and knowing went
back off if they invaded in that space. Also respect each other
opinions, even though they might not be the same as yours.
Standing behind your friend when they are facing a problem
caused by another person or situation also shows respect for each
other. When each person in the friendship feels loved and
respected, they feel that they can trust each other and that's where
honesty comes into the picture.

Honesty is a fragile aspect of true friendship. It can easily make or
break a relationship. Honesty means to be yourself, do not pretend
to be someone else. Your friend will love you for who you are.
Don't keep secrets that could destroy your friendship, if they ever
came to surface. Tell your friend the secret as soon as you can and
they will respect you even more for being honest. The biggest part
of honesty is betrayal. Never betray your friend by talking behind
their back because once you say something, if you don’t mean it,
you can never take it back

A TRIP TO CHERISH

On May 2019, I went to Yercaud with my family and friends Sachit
and Abinav. We took a train to Salem. We boarded the train at
7:00am from Chennai. From Salem we took a mini-bus to
Yercaud. On the way we saw many hairpin bends. At Yercaud, we
stayed at Happy Nest Resort. Soon after we reached it started
raining. We danced and played and we enjoyed playing in the rain.
That night we went for bonfire. We danced and sang many songs.
We had delicious food.

Next day we went for sight-seeing. The most wonderful part of the

trip was Poppy Hills. Abinav and I went for Bungee Jumping and

Sachit and I went for Ball-ride and Boat Ride.

This is the most wonderful and exciting trip I’ve ever had.

THE STRUGGLES OF OUR LIFE

Once upon a time there lived a Son and his Father. He was
upset of fighting and struggling with the problems all the time.
His Father, a Chef took him to the kitchen and filled three pots of
water and placed on high fire. He placed potato in one pot, eggs
in the second pot and ground coffee beans in the third pot.

He made them boil. The Son moaned and impatiently waited
what he was doing. After twenty minutes he turned off the
burners and took potatoes, eggs and coffee and placed it in a bowl
and a cup. Turning to his Son and asked “Son what do you see”?
Potatoes, eggs and coffee he hastily replied.

Look closer he said. He did and noticed that the boiled
potatoes were soft. He noticed hard-boiled eggs after pulling off
the shell. Finally he sipped the coffee and its rich aroma brought a
smile on his face. He asked his Father “Father what does it
mean”?

He explained that potatoes, eggs and coffee beans face the
same boiling adversity but each reacted differently. First potato
was hard and then it became soft and weak. The egg was fragile
then after boiling it became hard. However the ground coffee
beans were unique and changed water and created new. Father
asked “which one are you my Son”?

The Son understood that “If things happen around us, things
happen to us, the only thing is that, “how you choose to react it
and make out of it”

Life is all about learning, adopting and converting all the struggles
we experience in to something positive.

One flag, one land, one heart, one nation evermore

The Indian Air Force (IAF) is the air arm of the Indian Armed
Forces. After it became independent from the British Empire in
1947, British India was partitioned into the new states of the
Dominion of India and the Dominion of Pakistan. The chief of
Indian air force is Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauria.
Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman (born 21 June 1983) is
an Indian Air Force officer. In the 2019 India-Pakistan standoff,
he was held captive for 60 hours in Pakistan after his aircraft was
shot down in an aerial dogfight. He was conferred the Vir Chakra
gallantry award in August 2019.
On 27 February 2019, Varthaman was flying a MiG-21 as a part of
a sortie that was scrambled to intercept an intrusion by Pakistan
aircraft into Jammu and Kashmir. In the dogfight that ensued, he
crossed into Pakistan territory where he was struck by a missile.
Varthaman ejected and descended safely in the village of Horran in
Pakistan administered Kashmir, approximately 7 km from the Line
of Control. It was claimed by local villagers that Varthaman could
be identified as an Indian pilot by the Indian flag on his parachute.
Upon landing, Varthaman asked the villagers if he was in India, to
which a young boy replied in the affirmative. Varthaman
reportedly followed up with pro-India slogans and asked for
drinking water while informing the locals of a back injury. The
locals responded with pro-Pakistan slogans, after which
Varthaman began to run while firing warning shots. He ran for
approximately 500 metres, to a small pond, where he attempted to
sink and swallow some of his documents.

Subsequently, he was captured and manhandled by the villagers
before being rescued by the Pakistan Army. On 28 February 2019,
Prime Minister of Pakistan announced that the government had
decided to release Abhinandan. Varthaman crossed the India-
Pakistan border at Wagah on 1 March 2019. Indian Prime Minister
Narendra Modi welcomed the release of Abhinandan at a political
rally, asserting that the nation was proud of him. Not only had the
prime minister, the whole India welcomed him.
We are proud our Indian Defense forces. This is just one example
of how our Indian Defense forces showed their courage and
heroism.
No agony, no pain, shall make me cry soldier was I born soldier
shall I die.

What is beautiful is different for each person

Apparently, it is not true that beauty is same for everyone. There
are certain things on which all people would agree on. For
instance, Catriona Gray, the miss universe, is seen beautiful in the
vision of most people. I would not doubt that you would be
appalled by seeing her spunky smile, charming cheeks, pointed
nose, curly, flowing-hair and a fanciable face. Altogether, we would
approve that she is the 'Queen of Beauty'.

She is nevertheless portrayed ugly in the eyes of many people.
According to my friend's perspective, she is just an ordinary
person! What I have been taught from my childhood is, "Everyone
is unique." Take for example, I also know a person who is black,
even blacker that the color of our hair! Yet she's beautiful to me. I
could even accept that she should be considered as the miss
universe! It's not because of the color of her skin; it's because of
the features of her face.

For making oneself beautiful, people use lots of products for their
skin, hair, and so on. I say, it is completely a waste of time. The
beauty of a person's heart matters. So to conclude, to change
someone's beauty, it is essential to change the purity of their heart.
Most importantly, you can't always be alluring, as there are lots of
people who are unique out there! Eventually, from this article, I
have mastered "People are beautiful just the way they are!" They
don't need to change them for others.

The 'Rebel'

The world around her
Was one of chaos
Wanting to wither
Her down into pieces.
They commented on her dressing
They said it's just for impressing
And said it's modest to be submissive
Rather than expressive.
She, an engineer
Is given dolls to play with
Being her, they thought
She was only fit for that.
Her whole existence
Was mere persistence.
For being who she was
A 'rebel' she was called.
For wearing what she likes
She was labelled unladylike.
Nevertheless, she resisted
Became the self crowned queen.
Became the CEO
The world wanted her to marry.
To all the warrior queens out there
Your courage is your beauty
And your sole identity.

SUPPANDI- THE GOOFY CHARACTER I LOVE

My favourite character in comics is Suppandi. He is from
TINKLE. He made his debut in January 1983. He was illustrated
by Ram Waeerkar; currently his daughter Archana Amberkar
illustrates him. Suppandi is basically a simple-minded and goofy
employee; he has worked on multiple jobs and never lasted in one
past a day or two. He earnestly listens to instructions from his
employees but then applies his own literal logic to them. What
happens then? Utter mayhem!
I like this character very much because of his simple-minded
answers that make his employees go really crazy which make me
laugh. I got introduced to this character two years back and after
hearing about him I immediately bought a series of nine books. It
was hilarious. Everyone should read Suppandi books and you will
get a big barrel of laughter.
