ANNUAL REPORT 2022, FACULTY OF ALLIED HEALTH SCIENCES, TU 67 Progressions and achievements during fiscal year 2022 In 2022, the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences was established research activities range from frontier basic sciences, research innovation and applied sciences to translational and clinical research in the area of emerging and chronic diseases, aging, health promotion, diagnosis and treatment. Prominent fields include research in medical technology, physical therapy, radiological technology, biomedical sciences, forensic sciences, sport sciences and sports development. The two research committees, 1) research ethics committee and 2) research support committee, have played an important role in supporting and facilitating research activities throughout the year. Both committees and the faculty’s research policy have been developed with the goal to facilitate the faculty members to produce high-quality research nationally and internationally. The committee is responsible for developing research policies and allocating funds for researchers. There have been sub-projects aiming to assist and facilitate research activities in the faculty. The committee continued to strengthen the researchers with research clinic project that guides proposal development, statistical software for statistical analyses, and english manuscript preparation. Additionally, Mentor for young project has launched and aims to support and reinforce research projects of faculty’s members. Highlights of the Year • AHS faculty secured $19.1 M baht of research funding in 2022. The budget has been granted by internal and external funding agencies. • AHS faculty had a total number of 59 published research papers with over 29 faculty members actively publishing in an international journal. Most of the internationally published papers in all health science disciplines • 8 Research units in medical technology, physical therapy, sports sciences and sports development and biomedical sciences are formed in the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences • AHS research is highly impactful of Citation Index for papers published in 2022 with over 1,200 times • Several faculty members have received 13 Research Excellence Awards, Presentation Awards, Innovation Awards, and 3 registered Petty Patents. 68 AHS TU Research Grants In the fiscal year 2022, the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences had received grants from different sources including university research budget (13 research projects for total of 3,374,200 Baht), faculty research budget (12 research projects for total of 1,150 ,000 Baht) and the external funding agencies (19 research projects for total of 14,588,900 Baht). Moreover, the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences researchers have continuously received prestige national funding from National Research Council of Thailand, Agricultural Research Development Agency Public Organization (ARDA), Health Systems Research Institute (HSRI), Program Management Unit for Human Resources & Institutional Development, Research and Innovation (PMU“B”), Program Management Unit for National Competitiveness Enhancement (PMU“C”), and National Science and Technology development agency, as well as international funding from the Development Research Centre from Canada. On average, 19 research projects from 15 staffs and researchers are subsidized by various sources of research funding this year. This activity aimed to raise safety standards for research laboratories in university under the audit program. The laboratory that was evaluated consisted of 3 laboratories: Molecular Microbiology (Room 403), Pharmacology and Toxicology (Room 408), and Medical Technology Innovation and Precision Medicine (Room 623). 84 AHS TU 3. Workshops have been conducted during fiscal year 2022, to support laboratory safety and management to protect the faculty environment and health of researchers. The “Laboratory safety and risk management guideline following ESPRel” Workshop is held by the laboratory safety management committee. This workshop has been conducted on 1 June in this year via MS team. The workshop related radiation safety for Healthcare people and radiologist has been held on 27 May 2022 in this year via MS team. International Student Recruitment For international student recruitment, Assistant Dean for International Affairs travelled with Office of International Affairs, Thammasat University under Thammasat International Student Recruitment (TISR) 2023 project. They visited many schools and universities in Vietnam and Laos to promote degree courses in Thai language and international programs in academic year 2023 on 26-30 September 2022. This was the New Student Potential Development Project which was called “Love at First Sight”. This project helps new students prepare and adapt to live on campus. It is also a good relationship between students. The event included a lot of activities such as group activity, recreational activity, CPR workshop, singing, and concert.
