A Study of Knowledge, Attitude and Practice on Occupational Safety and Health Among Student in University Kuala Lumpur (MESTECH) 1 Introduction: Institute Medical Science Technology (MESTECH) is part of educational institutions where the students are dealing with real workplace hazards and safety and health risk. There are numerous potential hazards and health risk that may arising through the student surrounding, even it also were exposed during their learning process. Objective: This study determined the level of KAP toward occupational safety and health risk among UniKL MESTECH students beside looking at the relationship between those domains. Method: The methods that being using in this study are by using cross-sectional survey was performed involving 31 students of any different programme in UniKL MESTECH from 6 different courses. Respondents were selected using simple random sampling. Knowledge, attitude and practice on safety and health risks were assessed through a self-administered questionnaire. Data were tabulated and analysed using SPSS version 26.0. Results: The results shows that students of UniKL has a high knowledge with (n=71%) in occupational safety and health risk. Then students also shows a good attitude with (n=64.5%) and poor practice with (n=12.9%).After being analyse through the KAP results (p-values>0.50) the knowledge shows the data with score (1.00), attitude score shows that (0.037) and the practice score is (0.063). Conclusion: Every education needs to provide good safety and health education for students in universities or any educational center on how to better manage safety and health risk assessment to develop a solid knowledge base and positive attitude toward safety practices, apart from that there are also opportunities to improve in translating awareness into consistent safe practices. Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice on Laboratory Chemical Safety Among Students in Universiti Kuala Lumpur MESTECH 1 Introduction: Scientific breakthroughs and discoveries are made in active laboratories. To protect everyone’s health, working in a research facility necessitates paying close attention to safety because chemical products are an essential component of modern living. Among other things, they are utilized for agricultural fertilization, equipment operation, disease treatment, cleaning, and disinfection. While everyone who comes into contact with potentially harmful substances should be concerned about their safety, people who work with chemicals on a regular basis such as students and lab personnel are especially at risk. Objective: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of students about laboratory chemical safety in academic settings. Laboratory security measures include risk assessment, safety control methods, cleaning, hygienic procedures, chemical storage, emergency response, waste management, and accident investigation. Method: The sample personnel will be comprised of Unikl MESTECH students that is required for them to fill out an online questionnaire to gauge their knowledge, attitude, and practice regarding laboratory safety. Results: A total of 103 respondents were collected and from this, a total of 51% know the procedure to follow for chemical waste disposal, this show that the student has high knowledge regarding chemical safety. The questionnaires were distributed randomly and designed by a bilingual in English and Bahasa Malaysia. The questionnaire covered three sections: Section A was about demographics, Section B was for knowledge, and the last Section C was for practices for food safety. Results: The data was analyzed by using descriptive and spearman correlation test on SPSS version 26.After being analysed, the median score for knowledge is 21.00 (2.00) while score for practical is 18.00 (4.00). Spearman correlation test showed no significant correlation between knowledge and practice score -0.810, p = value 0.422. Conclusion: It can be concluded that the respondents in the study have a low level of knowledge about food safety. The study suggests that food safety education among university students is necessary to improve knowledge and practice, further preventing foodborne diseases. It is also mentioned that the respondents can still practice and have a positive attitude when preparing food at home. A Study on Knowledge, Attitude and Practice on the Awareness of Scheduled Waste Among Students in UniKL MESTECH 1 Introduction: As an institution that focuses on allied health science, the laboratory of Universiti Kuala Lumpur, Institute of Medical Science Technology (UniKL MESTECH) has been a significant source of scheduled waste (SW) that brings concern to public health and environment if not carefully managed. For that reason, it is crucial for the students to contributes in managing SW. Objective: The ground of this study is to evaluate current level of knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) of the students of UniKL MESTECH regarding the management of SW. This study is also done to determine the association between academic level and knowledge level on SW. Method: The questionnaire used to gather the information for this study consist of 33 questions that is split into 4 sections– sociodemographic profile (3 questions), knowledge (10 questions), attitude (10 questions), and practice (10 questions). With the use of SPSS Software Version 26, data were analysed with descriptive statistics (frequencies) and Chi Square test. Results: The result finds that the students of UniKL MESTECH possesses a high knowledge (x = 8.74) in scheduled waste. The students also shows positive attitude (x = 8.21) and good practice (x = 15.68) towards scheduled waste management. After being analysed, the results showed the p-value for the association between academic level with the level of knowledge is 0.029 (p<0.05) which is significant. Conclusion: From the results, it can be concluded that the knowledge, attitude and practice rates of the students are in a good range. On top of that, the result of p-value being less than 0.05 shows that there is a significant association between academic level and level of knowledge.
