It was a sunny Friday morning and we went on a trip with our family friends. The sight from the airplane was fascinating. Our road journey started from Kochi in Kerala. We went to Munnar which is a mesmerizing hill station situated in the Western Ghats. We went to the Eravikulam National Park created in 1877, which is 2600 m above sea level. It is famous for its lush green mountains, valleys and rare Neelakurinji flowers which blooms every 12 years and will bloom next in 2030. When we reached, it was drizzling and the peak was surrounded by clouds. We also went to the Kochi beach, The Kaddy, spice and tea garden. I enjoyed it more than I had thought I would. BEING FREE Birds of the free sky, we are called, aren't we? They say they rescued us, but did they really? They put me on a cage, said I was "locked freely" They say I'm looking happy trying to fly inside freely Little do they know, I WILL BE ESCAPING...... Gauri Gupta VII-B An Unwanted Visitor I had just finished my homework when I heard my younger brother, Jitu, yell from the kitchen. I rushed downstairs to check because I was unable to understand what was happening. I noticed a pigeon clawing at the window, attempting to escape. I had to remove the bird from the house. I gave Jitu some chocolate and scattered some seeds on the windowsill. For the first few minutes the bird did not notice anything except the fact that his friends were in the garden enjoying the weather and worms. He then suddenly turned his head around, spotted the seeds, and dashed at them. Jitu looked at me as if I had saved his life, hugged me and gave half of his chocolate bar. I smiled, hoping that such a moment of anxiety and surprise won't happen anytime soon. Aditi Singh VIII-B Himaksh Lala VII-B MY TRIP TO KOCHI

The Forest Saga I was lost on my trip to the forest. I turned towards the mysterious jungle road. The clean, soft breeze blew intermittently, travelling against my arms and legs. The loud chirping of the birds seemed to be a humming sound. The Koyal cooed in an accession of her spasmodic voice. The mesmerizing, abstract earthen smell of the fertile ground synced with the breeze. Some of the birds seemed to be argumentative. Then there was a loud thump. It seemed like a constraint. Maybe I was not welcome here, I subsided towards the ground. My heart started racing, and to my surprise, it was a Bengal Tiger. I tried to be a fugitive in front of it, perhaps, behind it. Thankfully, the Forest Department's jeep was on its way to my rescue. Both the tiger and I, were safe.
