L ANGKA WI LANGKAWI INTERNATIONAL MARITIME AND AEROSPACE EXHIBITION 2 Message From CHIEF OF THE ROYAL MALAYSIAN NAVY Selamat Datang and welcome to Langkawi, the 'Isle of Legends' for the 16th Edition of Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2023 (LIMA `23). LIMA is the largest maritime and aerospace exhibition in the Asia Pacific. It is known as one of the leading platforms for defence agencies as well as industry players to interact and display the latest technologies for both defence and commercial sectors. Since its inception in 1991, this biennial exhibition has evolved and become a major attraction to the international maritime and aerospace industries, as well as to governments and military leaders around the globe. Despite the global fiscal challenges, the participation of industries and Navies from all around the world in LIMA `23 is very encouraging and has surpassed previous records. LIMA ‘23 set to record as the biggest event ever. There are 14 vessels representing 12 friendly Navies from all around the world namely Brunei, China, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Pakistan, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, the United States of America and Vietnam. They will be accompanied by another 26 Malaysian vessels from various government and private agencies. As for conference, besides the Chiefs of Navy Roundtable Talk (CNRT), this year’s LIMA will also have the Langkawi Maritime Conference (LMC) and Naval Engineering Conference (NEC) in its line-up. The LMC will be focusing on maritime security issues and targeting the maritime stakeholders as its participants. The theme for this LMC is aptly titled; “Malaysia a Maritime Nation: Steering the Course” specifically chosen to share and discuss issues associated with the maritime domain that could impact the security, safety, economy and environment of the region. Meanwhile, the NEC’s theme is “Technology Advance - New Challenges in Ship Configurations” which will discuss the development challenges and revolution in maritime technology.

LANGKAWI INTERNATIONAL MARITIME AND AEROSPACE EXHIBITION 3 This handy booklet will be useful as it contains the overall programme and schedule of events, ceremonial procedures, specific instructions and general information on services available. It also provides an overview of local customs and traditions, aimed to assist our international guests in understanding Malaysian culture. All this information is also made available to facilitate administrative requirements. I believe it will help participants in planning their activities during this event. Once again, it is my pleasure to extend a cheerful welcome to all participants of LIMA `23. I wish all of you an exciting and pleasant stay. Have fun and enjoy your stay in Langkawi. Terima kasih! Admiral Datuk Abdul Rahman bin Ayob Chief of Navy
