LANGKAWI INTERNATIONAL MARITIME AND AEROSPACE EXHIBITION 99 GETTING TO LANGKAWI BY ROAD Visitors travelling by road have to drive to Kuala Kedah or Kuala Perlis on the northwestern SANI EXPRESS coast of Peninsular Malaysia, the main take-off points by ferry to Langkawi. The journey from Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Kedah takes about six hours while Kuala Perlis is another one hour away. Car parking facilities are available at both points. BY AIR The Langkawi International Airport is about 20 km from Kuah and 8 km from the Cenang Beach. Direct air services from Kuala Lumpur to Langkawi provided by Malaysia Airlines and its subsidiary, Firefly also by Air Asia and Malindo Air on a daily basis. Malaysia Airlines also flies direct from Penang to Langkawi. BY RAIL The Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) or also known as Malayan Railway provides comfortable and economical rail service called the Senandung Langkawi express train. The train departs from KL Sentral in Kuala Lumpur and disembark at Alor Setar in Kedah or Arau in Perlis. Another option is by KTMB’s electric train or ETS which provides daily services from Kuala Lumpur to Alor Setar and Arau From Alor Setar or Arau, you can take taxi or bus to Kuala Kedah or Kuala Perlis respectively and then proceed by ferry to Langkawi BY FERRY Express ferries provide regular service daily to Langkawi from both Kuala Kedah and Kuala Perlis. The journey from Kuala Kedah and Kuala Perlis takes about 75 minutes and 45 minutes respectively. The journey from Penang to Langkawi takes about 3 hours.
L ANGKA WI LANGKAWI INTERNATIONAL MARITIME AND AEROSPACE EXHIBITION 100 INTERNATIONAL MARITIME CULTURE & FOOD FESTIVAL An international Maritime Food Festival Night will be held on 26th May 2023 from 2030 to 2230 at The Grand Ballroom, Resorts World Langkawi, Tanjung Malai. All ships participating in the LIMA ’23 are requested to show / display their respective countries’ cultures performance and serve food & beverage for this event. The arrangement for stalls will be provided. Dress code for naval personnel in this event is Red Sea Rig or equivalent. However, crew from participating ships are encouraged to dress up in their respective traditional costumes. Music performances from respective countries are also encouraged during this event.
LANGKAWI INTERNATIONAL MARITIME AND AEROSPACE EXHIBITION 101 LAW AND CUSTOMS IMPORTATION OF PROHIBITED AND RESTRICTED GOODS The importation of the following goods are absolutely prohibited : 1. Any articles bearing the imprint of reproduction of any currency notes or coins. 2. All types of Piranha fish. 3. Turtle eggs. 4. Cocoa pods, rambutan, pulasan (Nephelium Mutabile), longan and nam nam fruits from Philippines and Indonesia. 5. Intoxicating liquors containing any lead or compound of lead of more than 3.46 miligrams per lite, whether in the form of copper or any compound of copper. 6. Daggers and flick knives. 7. Broadcast receivers capable of receiving communication within the ranges (68-87) MHz and (108-174) MHz except those designed to receive meteorological broadcasts at spot frequencies. 8. Sodium arsenide. 9. Cloths bearing the imprint or reproduction of any verses of the Holy Quran. 10. Pen, pencil and other articles resembling syringes. 11. Poisonous chemicals such as Crocidolite, Polybrominated Biphenyl, Polychlorinated Biphenyl, Polychlorinated Terphenyl and Tris (2,3-dibromopropyl) phospate. 12. Lightning arrestors containing radioactive material. DRUG ABUSE Drug abuse is dealt with severely in Malaysia. The mandatory punishment for dangerous drug trafficking is the death penalty. If found gulity for an offence against the Dangerous Drug Act, where the offence is not punishable with imprisonment for life, or for term which shall not be less than 5 years, he/she shall also be punishable with whipping of not less than 6 strokes. Persons found in possession of an amount of drugs as listed below can be sentenced to death, life imprisonment of not less than 5 years. a. 5 grams or more in weight of heroin. b. 5 grams or more in weight of morphine. c. 5 grams or more in weight of monoacety / morphine. d. A total of 5 grams or more in weight of heroin, morphine and monoacety / morphine or total 5 grams or more in weight of any two of said dangerous drugs e. 250 grams or more in weight of raw opium f. 250 grams or more in weight of prepared opium, or g. A total of 250 grams or more in weight of raw opium and prepared opium.
