Hasan Abdullah Sahal explained. “Insult to Islam is always happening ubiquitously, and there will always be, and I am sure that it will not stop. Hence, if Allah’s Messenger is being insulted, it will not be the first time, the betrayal will be repeated. Infidels have always been the same! Innallazina kafaru sawa`un ‘alaihim a anzartahum am lam tunzirhum la yu`minun (QS. Al Baqarah: 6).” K.H. 8 THE SUPREME COUNCIL OF DARUSSALAM GONTOR WARDUN; A BRIEF INFORMATION ON GONTOR VOL. 74, SYA’BAN, 1442 to 11.30 am WIB with the topic United Against the New Style PKI in 2020. Also attending the FGD series 10 were some experts, including Prof. Aminuddin Kasdi (PKI His-tory Expert), Prof. Suteki (Law & Society Expert), Prof. Daniel M. In addition to commemorating the September 30 Movement of Indonesian Communist Party events in 2020, this FGD aims to anticipate the possibility of a revival of the PKI relevant to the current conditions and situation. Communism is still a living ideology and side by side with Secular Capitalism which always tries to eliminate Islam, as an ideology. By spreading the issue of radicalism and anti-diversity. K.H. Hasan Abdullah Sahal emphasized that communism is atheist, and atheist means kafir. Currently Muslims are facing kafir or infidelity. A an zartahum am lam tunzir-hum la yu’minun (QS. Al Baqarah: 6), since the prophet’s time until now, unbelievers have remained the same until now. “No new style PKI, it’s the same! kafir is still kafir; people who do not believe in God are kafir! “ stated K.H. Hasan Abdullah Sahal. K.H. Hasan Abdullah Sahal was pleased with the FGD regarding the anticipation of the PKI’s emergence in 2020. “I am happy with this event (FGD). They are the Islamic boarding school to fortify people from infidelity, expel invaders, and occupation. It cannot be said that a pesantren does not have these two missions; in other words, it is a fake pesantren. “This is our responsibility, instilling good morals, that is what we have to do; namely Islam moderation (wasathiyatul Islam), mercy for the world (rahmatan lil alamin) is the messenger of Allah. The method (minhaj) is the human being, and Islam is the deen. And the arrangement of the life of material and spiritual, and has the pillars of the Islamic faith and Ihsan. So that morals must be fought for, we educate our children with our totality,” explained K.H. Hasan Abdullah Sahal. “So, the main subject for our nation is to answer questions with attitude, action, by deed, the question is: what is colonialism? What are the indications? What is independence? And what are the indications? Then what are after that?” added K.H. Hasan Abdullah Sahal. From this, he invited everyone to return to their conscience to foster the totality of life in the world so that they can enjoy the joys of side by side with Allah’s martyrs and messengers on the Day of Judgement.

12 EDUCATION AND INSTRUCTION: ITTC WARDUN; A BRIEF INFORMATION ON GONTOR VOL. 74, SYA’BAN, 1442 within the country. It has been impacted to their departure suspension to their campus. Therefore, the Syaikhs of Gontor deemed to the severe circumstances that whole foreign students should remain in their countries and held a self-quarantined in a specific zone. For those who could not attend at Gontor Family Association headquarter, they should stay at their homes under control and supervision of Gontor Family Association and should report to the ITTC office monthly. The learning and teaching system are being performed by the assistance of Gontor Family Association branch Malaysia and several contributions from the Alumni who were involved in Darussalam Changlun Modern Islamic Institution and Darussalam Pinang Island Modern Islamic Institution. Indeed, it was not only the students who are contained their departures, but new teachers who come from this country also should remain with the students at the alumni institutions. They are appointed to guide and to supervise the students within 24 hours. As a matter of fact, they still have a studentship status, while other are assigned as teachers of Gontor, however, they are only performing the learning and teaching program in the diverse places due to restrictions and constraints to Gontor. When this learning and teaching activities were passed for several months, the report has been shown that in early 2021 a departure to Gontor could be conducted. But apparently, there have been a new extension of the quarantine period or lockdown in Malaysia and it has emerged to the extension of the quarantine period at the alumni Institution. Despite, they study and carry out their routines independently, but it was not reducing their enthusiasm for learning. The evidence of it was coming from the first-semester examination conducted at the alumni institution where students could achieve the very satisfied result. It is greatly expected when pandemic disappears soon they can sharply return to Gontor and receive an appropriate education. ITTC Gontor Campus 6 Inaugurates Azerbaijan Building as a Learning Facility. On Thursday, 18 J. Ula 1442/2 January 2021, the Azerbaijan building was inaugurated. The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Director of ITTC K.H. Masyhudi Subari, M.A, Dr Al-Ustadz. Mulyono Jamal, M.A., Al-Ustadz Ismail Abdullah Budi Prasetyo, S.Ag., Al-Ustadz Suraji Badi’, S.Ag., and Al-Ustadz Mahbub Al-Aziz, S.Ag. This building will be allocated to support teaching and learning programs. The number of classes is around 20 rooms and some are used for supporting the needs such as room for subject’s mastery, warehouse, and computer laboratory. It is hoped that this building can be beneficial to all students at Gontor Campus 6, Kendari as good as possible, given the distance between the old classes building and the institution is quite far away, and the increasing number of prospective students registering this year. Furthermore, this year Gontor Campus 6, Kendari purchased several Islamic classical literatures directly from Egypt, which funded by the main campus of Gontor to add their books inventory. So, through this quality improvement, it is expected that all learning and teaching programs could concurrently run optimally. Implementing the on line Subject’s Mastery and New Books to Support the Quality of Education. The current pandemic atmosphere does not constrain the learning and teaching programs of ITTC to carry on improving the quality of learning for students. By adhering to health protocols such as wearing masks, keeping the distance, washing the hands, and performing wudlu (ablution), the learning and teaching activities are running as usual. 13 EDUCATION AND INSTRUCTION: ITTC VOL. 74, SYA’BAN, 1442 WARDUN; A BRIEF INFORMATION ON GONTOR S.Th.I. The Research and Curriculum Department has been conducted some coordination meetings with the curriculum department staff of ITTC for Girls Campus 1, Mantingan to revise this book with the ultimate goal that it could be published for the upcoming year. Further quality development which was carried out by the teacher career department of ITTC who has been endeavoured hard to flourish some subject’s mastery including Arabic composition (Insya’), Arabic Reading for class 5, Tamrin Lughah (Arabic Lesson), and Mahfudzat (Arabic aphorisms) conducted for all teachers throughout the campuses, both boys and girls virtually. The event was procured on the direct initiative of the Deputy Director of ITTC H. Farid Sulistyo, Lc. with the assistance of Gontor TV staff. This event aimed to similarize the teacher’s understanding in mastering the subjects and to prevent teachers’s misunderstandings of the subjects that should be taught for the upcoming teaching. Subject’s mastery program is conducted once a week on Wednesday at the third and fourth period and is directly supervised by Al-Ustadz H. Farid Sulistyo, Lc. although the internet signals are often interrupted, this event continues to run smoothly and enables the teachers in all campuses to understand the taught subjects. In addition, some online programs which were performed via Google Meet or Zoom Meeting including as Khutbatu-l-’Arsy (Introductory Week Session), studying on Islamic Classical Literature for class 5, studying on teaching practice (Tarbiyah Al-Amaliyah). This kind of teaching is certainly different from previous years, however, amidst a pandemic of Covid-19, all activities and encouragements should be conveyed even via online media. Al-Munjid (Arabic Dictionary) Revolution and the Library as Supporting the Teaching Facilities. This program is implemented under the commandment of Syeikh of Gontor, K.H. Hasan Abdullah Sahal within Kemisan (weekly meeting) for whole teachers and also the decision of the Director of ITTC regarding to the procurement of Munjid. So, it is a mandatory to provide a Munjid in each teacher’s room as a tool to simplify the process of making teaching preparation. In addition, each teacher’s room has been supplied with a small blackboard, markers, and erasers for writing vocabulary. These teaching instruments were distributed after the responsible persons of every room has been instructed in the ITTC library, Saudi 3 building 2nd floors. Practically, each teacher should write the vocabulary gained from al-Munjid then writes it down on the board, thus it should be rewritten in the report book “Kasykulu-l-Munjid”. It is aimed at improving teachers’ ability in reading habit and encouraging them to observe the vocabulary to proliferate their language skills. Through this al-Munjid revolution, it is expected that teachers can familiarize with literacies and appreciate the process of attaining the meaning of a sentence. Despite, it is permitted to employ a smartphone to find a meaning of a word, the results of attainment could be different. Furthermore, this year, several new book stocks were also supplied due to the additional lesson studied in the study on Islamic Classical Literature for class 5, it was Tafsir. This is certainly different from previous years which only used three lessons including fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudance), hadith, and aqidah. This additional lesson was in line with the suggestion of Al-Ustadz H. Imam Iskarom, Lc which finally agreed with the director of ITTC. While, the titles of the Tafsir discussed in this program were amounted about 80 new cases titles. The books of Tafsir have been purchased from Kediri which were spent around 4 million rupiahs. The additional books and subject of Tafsir are aimed at broadening their horizons about the Al-Qur’an and paving their ways to cope with the problems in this subject. Subsequently, when the inventory of books and other tools have been successfully supplied, the library data collection process also employs a more efficient system with barcode and computerization to ease data collection of the existing books. This system is also applied to the ITTC libraries in every building. Besides, the decorated library will also increase the students’ interest in reading.

This visionary expectation certainly motivated the academic community of the University of Darussalam Gontor to make it comestrue. Therefore, UNIDA Gontor always strives optimally to realize these noble ideals. This year, Prof. Dr. Hamid Fahmy Zarkasyi, M.Phil, whom the Board of Directors has inaugurated as a rector replacing the former rector Prof. Dr. Amal Fathullah Zarkasyi, MA, after being appointed as a professor in Islamic Philosophy through the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture, on December 28, 2020. Many excellent programs have been arranged to develop and improve the quality of the academic and non-academic fields, especially in welcoming the 1st century of Darussalam Gontor Modern Islamic Institution. Gratefully, UNIDA Gontor receives institutional accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) with the predicate “Very Good”. One of the obsessions proclaimed by the chancellor in the celebration of one century of Gontor, it that programs would be accredited as excellent, and several study programs will be internationally accredited. Another thankfullness for, this year is that nine lecturers have completed their doctoral studies both at domestic and abroad. FACULTIES AND DEPARTMENTS After obtaining institutional accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) through decree number 1035/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/PT/XII/2020, on 8 December 2020, with the predicate Very Good, UNIDA Gontor is increasingly existing in organizing while continuing to strive to develop education programs in 7 (seven) Faculties with 18 undergraduate programs (S1), three master programs (S2), and one doctoral program (S3). These study programs have received accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) except for the Aqeedah and Islamic Philosophy doctoral study program, which are awaiting the field assessment schedule process. Hopefully, it will run smoothly and get the best results as expected.
