Remembering the Past, Celebrating the Present
Xavier University of Louisiana has been an institution with a rich history of academic excellence and service to the community since its founding in 1925. As Miss Xavier University 2006-2007, I plan to continue this tradition of service. I will lead by example through my service to the University and to the community-at-large.
I chose as my Homecoming theme, “Remembering the Past, Celebrating the Present.” Although we all have been challenged over the last seventeen months as the city and university recovers post-Katrina, we should not dwell on the past, but move forward with faith and determination. It is one of my most strongly held beliefs that we should re ect on the past in order to appreciate how far we have come. Celebrating the present is more important and Homecoming is a time to reunite and to rejoice. After homecoming week we should continue each day that God a ords us. is year, I challenge every Xavierite to demonstrate school pride by actively participating in this week’s festivities. In celebration let’s remember those who came before us, those who began Xavier’s legacy.
I would also like to sincerely thank Angel Bradford, Miss Xavier University 2005-2006, for her continuing support. To my advisors, the homecoming committee, court, my friends, and family I extend my heartfelt appreciation for your undying love and encourage. Fellow Xavierites, in remembering the past and celebrating the present, let us also be ever grateful for our many blessings.
