relevant field.
7. The referees of the abstracts may be remunerated with honoraria.
8. Proceedings of the symposium containing the abstracts that are accepted for

presentation should be printed before the symposium to be distributed among
participants.
9. The proceedings should contain the university vision and mission statements.
10. Three copies of the proceedings should be handed over to the main library of the
University within one week from the last day of the symposium.
11. PDF version of the proceedings should be handed over to the Research Council within
one week from the last day of the symposium. This will be published in the university
e- repository.
12. The organizers are encouraged to send the copies of the proceedings containing the
abstracts to other universities and relevant institutions.
13. Additional funding, if required, may be sought from other sources.
14. Members of the organizing Committee are not entitled to any payment.
15. All the applications should be submitted to the Chairman, Research Council at least
four months before the event by the Coordinator of the symposium through the
recommendations of Director/FRC, HOD and Deans as applicable. The applications

been made public. Google scholar account should have the University of Kelaniya
address and kln.ac.lk email verification.
8. Applications prepared as per the format approved by the Research Council should be
sent to the Chairman of the Research Council with the recommendation of the Head of
the Department and Dean of the Faculty.
9. A reprint of the paper should be submitted with the application, which will be deposited
in the Library.
10. A PDF version of the abstract should be submitted with the application to be published
in the University e-repository.
11. The printed version of the papers should be available in order to issue the cash prize
and certificate which would be awarded at the Senate.
12. Online journals that do not have a printed version will be considered for
recommendation upon submission of the relevant DOI, (Digital Object Identifier).
However, the applicant should provide sufficient evidence to support that such journals
do not have a printed version, (e-journals only).

5.2.1 Introduction

for Senate Honours, if those are published in journals indexed in Science Citation
Index, Social Sciences Citation Index or Arts and Humanities Citation Index.

9. The abstract of the paper should be published in the ResearchGate profile of the
applicant.
10. If a particular applicant becomes eligible for both Senate Honours and cash prizes
simultaneously, only the award with a higher cash amount will be awarded.

11. A letter of acknowledgment to the co-author /s affiliated to other institutes is sent for
the contribution to the publication that received Senate Honours and cash award or
cash prize.

12. Applications prepared as per the format approved by Research Council should be sent
to the Chairman of the Research Council with the recommendation of the Head of the
Department and Dean of the Faculty.

13. A reprint of the paper should be submitted with the application, which will be deposited
in the University Library.

14. PDF version of the abstract of the paper together with the web link to the paper should
be submitted with the application to be published in the University e-repository.

5.5.2 Terms and conditions

i. The applicants should be members of the permanent staff of the University of Kelaniya.
ii. The achievements from November of the preceding year to October of the year concerned

iii. Applications with self-evaluation prepared according to the guidelines given separately

should be submitted to the Deputy Registrar/Senior Assistant Registrar of Academic
Establishments through the Director/FRC, Head of the Department and Dean of the
Faculty.
iv. Reprints/certified photocopies of research papers, copies of books and other publications
and certified copies of all other relevant documents should be submitted with the
applications.
v. Reprints of research papers and copies of books submitted will not be returned to the
applicants and will be deposited in the University main library.
vi. The 03 Outstanding Senior Researchers (Senior lecturer Grade I/Associate
Professor/Professor/Senior Professor) and the 03 Outstanding Early Career Researchers
(Probationary lecturer/unconfirmed Lecturer/Lecturer/Senior lecturer Grade II) will be
awarded for each faculty separately.

vii. The applicants should have Google Scholar and ResearchGate profiles which have been
made public. The relevant web links should be indicated in the application.

viii. Applicants for the most outstanding Senior Researcher or the most outstanding Early
Career Researcher awards are not precluded from applying for the awards for the most

ix. In order to qualify for the most outstanding Senior Researcher or the most outstanding

x. The abstracts of the research papers considered for the most outstanding Senior
Researcher or the most outstanding Early Career Researcher awards should have been
published in the e-repository of the University website and the applicants should indicate
the relevant web links in the application.
xi. If the criterion 10 is not fulfilled at the time of application, PDF versions of the abstract of
each paper considered for the award should be submitted with the application. These will
not be returned to the applicant.
xii. The abstracts of the research papers considered for the most outstanding Senior
Researcher or the most outstanding Early Career Researcher awards should have been
published in the ResearchGate profile of the applicant at the time of application and the
applicant should indicate the relevant web link of these abstracts in the application.

xiii. Regarding the Vice chancellor’s awards, the decision of the Evaluation Committee
appointed by the Vice Chancellor shall be final.
