1984

• Civic Tour to Sibu organised and sponsored by
RASCOM visiting places of interests like Oya Road Army
Camp, etc.

• NCOs Training Course was organised.
• Spiritual Retreat with MJF & MYF members.
• For the first time since formation, we put on white

angklets with marching boots and white gloves when
taking part in the State Level Hari Kebangsaan Parade.
We were the smartest & best contingent during the
Parade.

• Organised a 4 hours hiking to Jakar through Baji &
Merudu on 6th June.

• Lt. Camillus attended the Sarawak District Council
Inaugural Meeting in Kuching on 1st July.

• Formed the Guards-of-Honour during Bishop of
Methodist Churches, Bishop Dr. Denis C. Dutton’s visit to
Sarikei.

1985

• Our Chaplain, Rev. Chiong Nguong Siong left us on
transfer to Bintangor on 29th December.

• Captain Wong Sing Ai led 18 Boys for a hiking trip from
Bintangor to Sanikei through swampy rocky, deep pools
land.

• Chaplain Rev. Chiong led 10 Boys to attend the Sarawak
Boys’ Brigade Silver Jubilee Camp in Miri from 29th July
to 6th August.

• Organised a buffet party in celebration of the Silver
Jubilee at Company level.

• Had telematch with members of Bb & GB Bintangor, GB
Sarikei, Red Crescents & Scouts of Bintangor in
Bintangor.

• We were honoured & proud to be the only uniformed
youth organisation along with our GB to be present to
welcome & send off our Agung during his Majesty’s visit
to Sarikei on 23rd & 24th June. His Majesty also
inspected our contingents and gave good comments for
our presence and smartness.

• Started operating a mini library with the books donated
from Mr. Lau Pang Hung, BB & GB members.

• Tea party gatherings with 2nd Bintangor and 2nd
Kuching Company during their visits to our Company
respectively.

• 2 Boys attended the Anti-Dadah Course organised by
the Ministry of Culture, Youth & Sports at Sg. Paoh





1986

• S/Sgt. Peter Tong King Ching was appointed W/O on
17th June, ex-Boy, James Ling Mun Inh as W/O on 13th
July while Vincent Lay Say King, also W/O on 9th
August. Hon. Captain, Mr. Daniel Chung left on transfer
to Kuching. Our new Chaplain, Rev. Lee Kieng Kwong
joined us on 1st January.

Ministry of Science, Technology & Environment,
Malaysia, launched off our BB Fortnight on 27th April.

• Captain Wong Sing Ai & Mr. Law Kung Ing led 10 Boys
for a cycling trip to Sibu

• For the first time our Officers participated in the BBM-BBS
Officers’ Fellowship in Singapore, represented by our Captain,
Wong Sing Ai, Lt. Camillus Wong & W/O Christopher Tiong
from 8th to 10th August.

• Our Music Instructor, Mr. Law Kung Ing represented our
Company for the 10-days 218 km. Raft Expedition from Kapit
to Sarikei organised by the Ministry of Culture, Youth &
Sports.

• W/O Christopher Tiong was selected by the Ministry of
Culture, Youth & Sports for the Youth Exchange
Programs to West Malaysia, Sabah & Sarawak.

• Officers were putting on the full ceremonial uniform for
the first time during Enrolment Service on 29th June.







1987

• Members were given for the first time Chinese New Year Ang
Pows, sponsored by Mr. Lau Pang Hung during the Chinese
New Year Party.

• 9 Boys were baptised during our BB Founder’s Day Church
Service on 25th October.

• Walkie talkies License approved by Jabatan Telekom
Malaysia and purchased 2 units of walkie talkies.

• Our Company also took part in the 1st Sibu Brigade Display.
• for Science, Technology & Environment, Malaysia as our

Guest-of Honour and Inspecting Officer.

• Had our first Brigade Display on 31st May with YB Datuk Law
Heng Ding, Deputy Minister for Science, Technology &
Environment, Malaysia as our Guest-of Honour and
Inspecting Officer.

• For the first time, we had a massed band performance with
BB & GB band members from Sibu and Bintangor as well.

• Also took part in the 2nd Bintangor Company Brigade Display
• Enrolment Service on 4th October with Guest-of-Honour,

YB David Teng Lung Chi represented by Mrs. YB David.
• Formed the welcoming parade for Mrs. Pilley’s visit to Sarikei.







1988

• 5 Officers & 22 Boys had a picnic camp at Farm Kiwi at
Ulu Sarikei. We had to hike for 2 hours from the main
road to the camp site.

• Lt. Camillus Wong and 30 Boys attended 1st Sibu
Company 20th Anniversary Camp.

• 2 Officers & 8 Boys attended the Santubong Camp
organised by the Trinity Methodist Church, Kuching.

• Our poster for the anti-dadah, anti-gum sniffing and anti-
littering campaign won 3rd prize.

• Our Brigade House declared open by Mr. Lau Pang
Hung on 29th October.

• Bought a computer system.
• Our Band was the champion in the Sibu, Sarikei &

Bintangor BB Bands competition held in Sibu.

• Took part in mini sportsmeet organised by our Church on
13th July. Formed the welcoming parade and Guards-of-
Honour for Bishop Dr. Denis C. Dutton’s visit to Sarikei.

• 20th Anniversary Celebrations:
Spiritual Camp at Kabong Beach on 14th to 16th April;
Band Displays at Roban and Kahong towns;

 Table-tennis competitions for both Company & Junior
sections;

presentations from BB & GB members from all
Companies in Sarawak on 11th November with YB Law
Hieng Ding, Deputy Minister for Science, Technology &
Environment, Malaysia and YB David Teng Lung Chi
(represented by Mr. Chan Kam Wuai) as our Guests-of-
Honour. BBM National President, Mr. Tham Leong and
National Secretary, Mr. Thomas Tan were also present to
witness our celebration.

 A massed band comprising band members from various
BB & GB Companies in Sarawak led BB & GB
contingents from SRB Methodist Anglo-Chinese through
Repok Road to the Dewan Suarah with about 350 BB &
GB members taking part;

 Leadership Camp with speakers from Police, Medical
Department, Ministry of Youth & Sports and our Church
was conducted on 13th November, Thanksgiving Service
on 12th November with Bishop Dr. Deals C. Dutton
giving the sermon & baptised 2 BBs & 8 GBs.

• Bought a Panasonic 136 columns printer for our
computer system.

• Captain Wong Sing Ai was elected Treasurer of the
Sarawak District Council of state until 1991.

1990

• Chaplain, Rev. Lee Kieng Kwong left us on transfer on 30th
November and was Rev. Ling Tao Shun was our new
Chaplain as from 1st December

• Had our own 6 channels amplifier PA. system. -
• National Chaplain, Rev. Daniel Lim, Asst. National Chaplain,

Mr. Kan Weng Woo and Executive Secretary, Mr. Lawrence
Tay visited us on 17th August.

• Sarawak District Council for the first time, had meeting
held in Sarikei on 8th September at our Brigade House.

• Lt. Wong Sing Ai was selected as Sarawak District
Council Treasurer till 1991.

1991

• 25 Officers & family members of The Boys’ Brigade in
Singapore paid us a visit on 27th May.

• For the first time, on 31st March, we had our enrolment
service in the evening

• Our Officers also helped in organising The Boys’ Brigade
in Malaysia 27th Annual General Meeting and the BBM-
BBS Officers’ Fellowship 1991 in Kuching. This is the
first time the BBM AGM & Officers’ Fellowship were held
in Sarawak.

1992

• Farewell Party for our Captain Wong Sing Ai was held on
3rd March and we held a BB Day barbeque gathering on
4th October.

• Educational visit to Batang Air Hydro Project & Sri Aman
on 21st & 22nd March.

• Took part in the Aerobic Exercise organised by the
Pejabat Sukan dan Belia at Dewan Suarah on 29th
November.

• Ag. Captain Camillus Wong attended the BBM 28th AGM
in Johor Bahru and BBM-BBS Officers’ Fellowship in
Singapore. W/O Christopher Tiong attended the 11th
National Pesta and Convention in Kota Kinabalu.

• 4 W/Os & 20 Boys joined the 2nd Kuching Company for
their 25th Anniversary Camp at Camp Permai.

• Mr. Jacob Ling Hau Ching was appointed Captain as from 8th

May.
• W/O Rickie Ling attended the Youth Leadership Seminar organised

by Pembangunan Belia dan Sosial, Sarikei.
• Organised a 50 km cycling trip to Bayong for a pinic.
• Company Camp held in SMK Bandar Sarikei.

• Attended 2nd Bintangor Company 10th Anniversary Church Service on
11th December.

• Attended the Officers & NCOs Training Courses in Sibu organised by
Sarawak District Council.

• Talk on Anti-Drugs Abuse by Police personnel on 10th July.
• One of our former Captains, Mr. James S. Rajah visited us on 15th

December.

and Cpl Wong Pak Hui as platoon first chairman.

• In conjunction with our 25th Anniversary, we organised the
first Pan-Sarawak BB & GB Games Carnival from 1st to 3rd
June where BB & GB members from other Companies in
Sarawak also took part. Competitions included basketball,
volleyball, badminton, table-tennis, chinese chess,
international chess and carrom. Our Company won the
Overall Champion Trophy.

• Obstacle Race at Rejang Teachers Training College with
BB & GB members from other Companies in Sarawak on
2nd June.

• 2 Officers & 20 Boys attended the East Malaysia
Methodist Youth Convention in Sibu from 15th to 17th
June.

• Educational visits to Pepper Marketing Board, Standard
Printing Co., Straits Seafood Co. and Eastern Bakery.

• Spiritual Camp with GB, 1st Sarikei Company at Belawai
from 25th to 27th August. Also visited the Wood- chip
Co. and Water Treatment Plant nearby.

• YB David Teng Lung Chi presented the Hari
Kebangsaan 1993 Participation Certificate to our Band
members on 27th August.



1995

• SDC Annual General Meeting held in Sarikei with 37 BB
Officers from Companies in Sarawak.

• Lt. Camillus Wong, W/O William Wong & W/O Billy Wong
attended the 31st National Council Meeting in Kota
Kinabalu from 19th to 21st May and East Asia Regional
Officers’ Fellowship from 21st to 25th May also in Kota
Kinabalu.

• Chaplain Rev. Ling Tao Shun left us on 31st December.
