Leading Student of Green Heart to Give Speech about
Sustainability in Empower Youth Meeting
The leading student of Green Heart, Akarapan Taweesak was appointed as youth ambassador for
sustainable development goals (SDGs) and to give special presentation about sustainable
development goals, modern trend, and Thailand with sustainable development goals for aspiring
youths in the Empowering Youth Meeting held by Young Thai for Sustainable Development
Assembly (YSDA) on 25 January 2021. The special presentation was delivered Online on ZOOM
application for youths inspired by sustainability. The meeting was aimed to be exchanging forum
for knowledge and experience as well as to encourage cooperation in the network both
domestically and internationally and will eventually elevate the environmental quality and
sustainability of Thai universities as role model for sustainable development. This activity worked
in accordance with SDG 2030 article 17: to build cooperation in university network for
sustainable development.
Leading Student of Green Heart Represents Thai Youth
in The Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Program
The leading student of Green Heart, Akarapan Taweesak was chosen as student represent for the
46.1 Next Generation Leaders Conference in the Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Program :
SSEAYP along with other representatives from ASEAN countries and Japan (total of 11 countries
present). The conference was held for 4 sessions on 24 and 31 January then on 7 and 21
February 2021. The conference was held Online via ZOOM application as per defensive measure
against COVID-19 pandemic. The participants attended the conference to share their knowledge
and experience from various countries and encouraged the extensive cooperation of the
network to the academic fields both domestically and internationally and will eventually elevate
the environmental quality and sustainability of Thai universities as role model for sustainable
development. This activity worked in accordance with SDG 2030 article 17: to build cooperation
in university network for sustainable development.
Green Heart Online Camp under the Concept
of “Green School Network:
Green Heart Junior”
Leading students of Green Heart led the activity, Green Heart Online Camp under the concept of
“Green School Network: Green Heart Junior” as an online event. On 14 February 2021, the
student team led the activities to propagate the knowledge in energy conservation,
environment, safety, and awareness toward health and climate change to the communities, and
schools through their attending members. It was expected that such understanding in energy
conservation, environment, and safety will grow and beneficially affect the surrounding
communities as sustainable improvement to the nation. The activity was held on ZOOM
application to comply with social distancing measure and KMUTT New Normal policy. The
activity interested students and teachers nationwide and had accommodated more than 200
participants. As a result, the Green School Network has extended even more.
KMUTT Donated Old Calendars to Make
Teaching Medium for Visually Imparied
Green Heart student group donated over 1,000 sets of calendar (disinfected) to “Educational
Technology for the Blind Center” on 16 March 2021 to make word cards and other teaching
media for the visually impaired. The “Old Calendar Donation” project supports the idea and
actions of environmental conservation emphasizing the importance of efficiency and
sustainability. The Green Heart group was the core of operation and promotion of this project.
Out of date calendars were collected from various organizations, faculties, departments, staffs,
and students within the University.
Seminar and signing of cooperation on Low Carbon
Industry Development Project according to
the circular economy concept
On 23March 2021, Department of Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, King
Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi, held a seminar to open a Low Carbon Industry
Development Project, according to the circular economy concept, together with Thailand
Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization). There was a ceremony to sign
a memorandum of cooperation with 20 factories of pilot industrial plants in 2021 participating in
the project in the area of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya. Mr. Kiatchai Maitreewong, Director of
Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suwit Saetia, Dean of
KMUTT, presided over the opening remarks of the seminar and press conference at the Espresso
Conference Room, The Cavalli Casa Resort Hotel, Ayutthaya Province. At the seminar, Mr.
Pathom Chaiyaprukthon, Manager of Carbon Market and Innovation Promotion Office and
Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization), gave a lecture to
introduce the project, and Dr. Tapat Silalertraksa, Project Leader, gave a lecture on the topic of
developing a low-carbon industry according to the circular economy concept. In this event, there
were 20 pilot industrial plants participated in the project.

Solar Cells Testing Center (CSSC)
On 23 March 2021, Renewable Energy Industry Club, The Federation of Thai Industries, led by
Mr. Suwit Thoraninpanich, Chairman of the Renewable Energy Industry Club, with the delegation
visited CES Solar Cells Testing Center (CSSC), Pilot Plant Development and Training Institute
(PDTI), King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi, Bang Khun Thian. The objective of
such visit and discussion is to create cooperation and support about the investment plan for
photovoltaic system standard testing tools of CES Solar Cells Testing Center (CSSC).
Earth KMUTT Joined in 1-Hour Blackout to Fight Back
Climate Change in “60+ Earth Hour 2021”
@Central World 2021”
King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi joined in solidarity with other sustainable
universities in anti-climate change campaign as one of the Bangkok network organization and
imposed 1-hour blackout to fight back climate change (60+ Earth Hour 2021) on 27 March 2021
at Central World department store. KMUTT was selected as a role model for Thung Khru and
Bangkhunthian district for turning off unneeded lights for 1 hour from 20:30 to 21:30 in unison
with the rest of the world, showing the capability to adjust our behavior in order to reduce
environmental impact from unnecessary electrical usage.

Projects and Inventions
On 1 April 2021, Faculty of Science, King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT),
organized awards ceremony for "Learning exchange project through the project contest of
science and science and innovation inventions, in response to technological changes and
innovations" or "mentoring university project" which was held on 20 March 2021 via online
system. The objective of this project is to give a chance to teachers and students who are
science leaders in the schools to develop their potential, creativeness, research, and practice
using scientific process skills to solve problems, through the preparation of science projects and
science and innovation inventions. In addition, such project gives each school an opportunity to
exchange ideas and apply the received suggestions from the lecturers of the Faculty of Science
to improve the production of work and to create then the maximum benefit for the school as
well as create educational cooperation between the Faculty of Science, KMUTT and the network
schools.
EESH Held Workshop for Energy
Environment and Health Management System
at KMUTT, Bangmod Campus
Energy Environment Safety and Health Center (EESH) organized a workshop on Energy
Environment and Health Management System for its staffs and contractors at KMUTT Bangmod
campus, on 20 March 2021 and 3 April 2021. The workshops were to raise awareness in KMUTT
New Normal policy, including energy management system, waste management, Thailand lab
safety standard, and emergency response protocol within the university to the related staffs
(which comprise cleaning, security, maintenance, and gardening staffs). The workshop was led
by lecturer from EESH center and core students from Green Heart. The workshop was aimed to
improve understanding in the KMUTT system for seamless operation within the university and
prime it for becoming the sustainable and green university. The workshop had over 200
attendees.

Runner-Up Prize in ASEAN Energy Youth
Award (AEYA) 2020
The Dean of KMUTT awarded the honorary plaque for ASEAN Energy Youth Award (AEYA) 2020
(college video category) to the student leader of Green Heart, Akarapan Taweesak on 7 April
2021. KMUTT won the second runner-up prize in ASEAN league in the video category in ASEAN
Energy Youth Award (AEYA) 2020 under the concept of “Progress for Sustainable Development in
Efficient Use of Renewable Energy in South East Asia”. The competition was held by ASEAN
Centre for Energy, Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO). The student
team was sponsored by sustainability activity support work group, EESH center, and student
financial support work group.
KMUTT Donated Disused Aluminum Material
to Make Prosthetic Legs in Royal Project
KMUTT donated more than 3,000 pieces of disused aluminum waste to the Pollution Control
Department (PCD), Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment on 7 April 2021 to be
recycled as prosthetic legs for those who need in the royal project. This activity supports the
ideas and conducts of environment conservation with efficient and sustainable use of limited
resource. The Green Heart students were the core in promotion and operation of the activity.
The materials were donated by various organizations, faculties, departments, staffs, and
students within the university.
The 2nd SCIENCE EXHIBITION 2021 focus
on Innovative Science Curriculum
On 8 May 2021, Faculty of Science KMUTT launched The 2nd SCIENCE EXHIBITION 2021 using
on line events by ZOOM. This event aims to promote the Innovative Science Curriculum for
High school students as target groups.145 high school students join this event and give a good
response by joining the admission process for Faculty of Science KMUTT. This event supports
the SDG 4 Quality Education and SDG 9 Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure.
KMUTT has passed the building inspection
according to Building Control Act, B.E.2552
Office of Building and Ground Management, by Mr. Preecha Acharas, Head of Sustainability
Development, has conducted a project to inspect the building safety within KMUTT with the
Building Control Act, B.E.2522, additional provisions, by the Control Act Building (No. 3), B.E.
2543, Section 32 bis provides for owners of 9 types of buildings. It stated that the building
needed to have a building inspector, an engineering, or architectural auditor performs the
inspection and then submit a report on the results of the inspection to the local staff according
to the criteria set forth in the Ministerial Regulation. As a result, King Mongkut's University of
Technology Thonburi meets a good and efficient management system and aims to be a
sustainable green university by promoting and recognizing the safety of building use within
KMUTT. There were 4 buildings comprising the Dean office, multipurpose building, Library
building, and the Faculty of Biological Resources and Technology Building of KMUTT, which have
received a building inspection certificate that is in a safe condition for use from the Department
of Public Works, Bangkok.

King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) led by Green Heart student team
donated over 300 kilograms of used cardboard boxes to the Department of Environmental
Quality Promotion (DEQP) on 21 May 2021, by relaying to SCG Packaging Pub Co., Ltd. (SCGP) to
be recycled as makeshift bed for field hospitals.

Memorandum of Understanding for Academic Cooperation on the topic of teaching, research,
academic service, preservation of arts, culture and environment, and encouragement of special
activities, in order to create the greatest benefit in developing modern academic potential and
all resources of the King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi and, Siam University
Guidelines for cooperation in activities such as personnel development, research working,
innovation development, activities to promote sustainable development in accordance with the
United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with government sectors Industry,

World Environment Day at KMUTT
Bangkhunthian Campus
King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), in honor of Her Majesty the Queen
on the royal birthday on 3 June 2021, participated in planting 99 trees to fight climate change
and reduce the impact of PM2.5 pollutant around the university. The team also planted 9 kinds
of herbs effective against COVID to make available for the community. The herbal plants were
distributed to the nearby community to enhance self-sufficiency and sustainability.
World Environment Day at
KMUTT Bangmod Campus
Energy Environment Safety and Health Center (EESH) together with the Office of Building and
Ground Management held tree-planting activity to celebrate the World Environment Day under
the concept of “Ecosystem Restoration” and to support the conceptual ideas of “Re-imagine,
Recreate, Restore” and adjust to the new normal while caring for the environment. On 4 June
2021, the management team and staffs participated in planting trees around the Institute of
Field Robotics (FIBO) building.

The Energy Environment Safety and Health Office (EESH) organized the 2021 Loy Krathong Rak
Lok Theme “Love Culture with the Green World” on November 19th, 2021. Green Heart students
are the leader on handling the” Natural materials Krathong Workshop” taught by folk wisdom

friendly Krathong using natural waste materials from coconut shells and orchids supported by
