Thailand Energy of Innovation and
Technology Awards 2019 (TEIT 2019)

The Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency under the Ministry of Energy
hosted an award presentation ceremony with the concept “Thailand Energy of Innovation and
Technology Awards 2019 (TEIT 2019)” on 13 July, 2020. This ceremony was organized at Grand
AB Room 4 Miracle Grand Convention Hotel Bangkok. KMUTT received 2 awards including
individual award and special award in individual category. Moreover, KMUTT also received a
special recognition award for the most interesting project of 2020.

On July 17, 2020, BrilliantPower Co., Ltd. presented a 22kVa Huawei Solar On grid Inverter worth
over 100,000 Baht to KMUTT Electrical Engineering Department to support the leraning ad
teaching of the department. Brilliant Power Co., Ltd, which is one of KMUTT Alumni, is the
expert in design, distribution, installation and consulting solar power systems for residential
homes, buildings and offices, factories and farms.

KMUTT joins 15th Thailand Research
Expo 2020

National Research Office of Thailand (NRCT), Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research
and Innovation (MHESI) organized the "15th Thailand Research Expo 2020” under the theme
"Research for developing the country to stability, prosperity, and sustainability” between 2-6
August 2020 at Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Center, 22nd Floor, Central World. This
is a national event where it presents high-quality technical and innovative work, focusing on
knowledge and usefulness towards country development in social policy / people and
commercial/industry. KMUTT joined the event with innovative work under the BCG Economy
Model and won a bronze award on July 6, 2020.

On August 22, 2020, KMUTT lecturers in partnership with PTT Global Plc. (PTTGC) demonstrated
underground water management for sustainable farming to mango farmers in Rayong province.
Geospatial Engineering and Innovation Center (KGEO) and KMUTT lectures from Faculty of
Science showed the farmers the benefits of underground water management and gave
guidelines on how to use underground water. PTTGC pointed out needed collaborations to make
this project become true. Finally, the representatives of the mango farm agreed to use the
underground water management and would follow the recommended procedures for the best
outcomes.

CPRAM together with Media Arts and

“Zero Waste” concept

CPRAM together with Media Arts and Technology, School of Architecture and Design held a press
conference for the 3rd year media contest under the “Zero Waste” concept at GREAT ROOM,
floor 3, Double You Hotel. The contest invites students to create a 3 minutes video to support
Zero Waste or waste reduction in order to raise awareness and promote creativity. This project
aims to create a sense of the importance for food waste in the new generation with the wish to
change and reduce the need for food by changes in behavior.

On September 1, 2020, Multidisciplinary Learning Exchange Building or LX was TREES (Thai’s
Rating of Energy and Environmental Sustainability) certified at the Platinum level by Thai Green
Building Institute (TGBI) as it was designed to support environmental sustainability.

Press Conference on "Progress on the
development of the national
biopharmaceutical products"

Thailand Center of Excellence for Life Sciences (TCELS) of Ministry of Higher Education, Science,
Research and Innovation, National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA),
Mahidol University, KMUTT, National Biopharmaceutical Facility (NBF), National Blood Center,
National Vaccine Institute (Public Organization), Kin Gen Biotech Co., Ltd., Berli Jucker Public Co.
Ltd and Pharma Nueva Co., Ltd. held a press conferece on "Progress on the development of the
national biofuel drug." It is stated that this is a Phase 1 of the project, with a period of 5 years,
with objectives to increase the potential of Thailand to produce pharmaceutical products by
themselves and increase opportunities for high quality products with affordable price. This
project also aims to reduce the import of medicine and create independence for Thailand.
Currently, it has been 3 years and the project is moving forward to the production in accordance
with GMP standard to achieve both medical and financial results.

Progress Report Meeting on Education
Quality and Local Development Project

On September 9, 2020, Community Relations Unit , Office of University Relations, KMUTT held a
meeting to follow up the progress on Education Quality and Local Development Project at the
Ballroom, Floor 38, Pullman Bangkok G (Si Lom) Hotel. The aim of this meeting is to follow up
the use of the 2020 budget to share the learning among schools and higher educational
institutes from the network institutions in the lower central region. Over 22 institutions joined
the meeting to learn the framework of the project as a whole.

KMUTT students win the Second Runner-Up
at the “Innovation for Aging Society”

The Comprehensive Course in Japanese Business Innovation Program is a program held by the
Japanese Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with the Technology Promotion Association
(Thailand-Japan) or TPA for third and fourth year students as a preparation course for future
career. Under the topic of “Innovation for Aging Society”. “Beware wet” project of KMUTT
students won the Second Runner-Up award.

ASEAN SUSTAINABLE ENERGY WEEK 2020

KMUTT presented 6 outstanding energy projects at the ASEAN SUSTAINABLE ENERGY WEEK
BOILEX ASIA, PUMPS AND VALVES ASIA 2020. The event taking place at BITEC Bangna was
organized to promote knowledge and develop post covid-19 business models and long-term plan
toward new normal in a sustainable manner.

KMUTT Hosts the Third Summit of 2020 for Thai
Sustainable University Network (SUN Thailand)

As the leader of Thailand’s Sustainable University Network, King Mongkut's University of
Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) hosted the summit held from 8-10 October 2020 with the
assistance of Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Phuket campus as co-host. This network summit
was held to ensure the continuity and effectiveness of the committee’s operation. In 2020,
KMUTT had received the honor of acting as a chair and host the meeting between 34
institutions. The representatives from each member university participated in sharing about
preparation of data for UI Green Metric World 2020 and were guided through sustainability expo
put together by the 5 campuses of Prince of Songkla University. The representatives then visited
the sustainable community project which plays a key role in elevating the environment and
sustainability of nation-wide universities to be role models for the society.

The Third “Mini Workshop: Make Your World”
Science Learning Space’s Activity

21-22 October 2020, Science Learning Space held an activity: “Mini workshop: Make Your
World” for the third time at the basement “Science Learning Space” of the Faculty of Science.
Participants were allowed to meditate while decorating their own tray gardens and learning
about planting and nurturing the plants. Moreover, there were other mini workshops to
encourage learning by doing, which would help scientific thinking planning and experimenting.
The activities were fun and stimulating. Many students and university staffs attended the
workshop.

Scientific Instrument Center Held
SIC Open House 2020

Saturday 14 November 2020, the Scientific Instrument Center for Standard and Industry, Faculty
of Science held SIC Open House 2020 activity in celebration of the 60th anniversary of King
Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi where there were demonstration of scientific
instruments and academic services it provides. The center offered analyses, training courses,
design, prototyping of scientific instrument, and commission or mentoring for research. The
activities also included the post-graduate programs for staffs of the attending network schools.

EESH Co-hosted the
7th ME Energy Saving Day

Energy Environment Safety and Health Center (EESH) together with energy conservation work
group from Department of Mechanical Engineering co-hosted the 7th ME Energy Saving Day on
17 November 2020 at Witsawa Watthana Building. This activity was held to raise awareness
about water and energy conservation in accordance with King Mongkut's University of
Technology Thonburi’s energy policy and to encourage better understanding about energy
conservation and efficient use of water through exhibition and thought-provoking games. This
activity was received with much attention from KMUTT members, both faculty staffs and over
200 students.

Royal Project’s research direction which need KMUTT researcher join and make problem based
research which help communities to solve the problems which support the SDG 1: No Poverty
and SDG 2 Zero Hunger

SUN Thailand year 2020

On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the university King Mongkut's
University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) was honored to host the meeting.
The 5th Annual Conference of Sustainable University Network of Thailand and the 4th Annual
Meeting of Sustainable Universities Network of Thailand (SUN Thailand) 2020 at the Research,
Development and Innovation Building in Bioprocess ( BRI)
KMUTT (Bang Khun Thian) during 3-4 December as a platform to exchange knowledge and
knowledge for sustainable university development in various fields. as well as disseminating the
results of sustainability in all aspects of KMUTT to all 36 networked universities. In addition, at
the event, there was a keynote speech on the topic "Higher Education Commission Policy
towards Sustainable Universities". Activities to exchange learning about sustainable
development throughout the 2 days of this conference. The 5th Annual Conference of
Sustainable University Network of Thailand and the 4th Sustainable University Network of
Thailand (SUN Thailand) Member Meeting 2020, King Mongkut's University of Technology
Thonburi received host and forwarded the hosting of the next year's meeting to Kasetsart
University Chairman of the Sustainable University Network of Thailand for the year 2021

Students Led “Green Heart” to First Prize in
SUN Thailand 2020

King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi represented by “Green Heart” student group
presented their project: “KMUTT Volunteer Ants fights against COVID-19: opportunity for food
sustainability from a crisis” triumphed and received first prize for student sustainability project
for “Sustainable Campus by SDGs in Actions:
Best Practice Sharing & Learning Experience” on 4 December 2021 at King Mongkut's University
of Technology Thonburi, Bangkhunthian campus. The Green Heart student group presented
their project results, which they participated in planning out the operation to encourage learning
through promotion of sustainable consumption. The student group were also the major driving
force in the project. Green Heart's work not only contributed to sustainable consumption in the
KMUTT community but also sown the seeds of sustainability to the surrounding communities
with perceptible outcome. The team, consisting of Akarapan Taweesak, Wuttichai Puengrat, and
Anusara Tangpeerasit with Nayarat Wongwate, Thanakarn Koomphai, Kittinat Kaewthong, and
student financial support work group as project advisors throughout the campaign.

Management in KMUTT, Bangkhunthian campus” Won

Best Poster Presentation

Payoong Toomnim and Thanakorn Seuathong, were awarded “Best Poster Presentation” prize in the
topic of “Sustainable Energy” from their article, "Net Zero Energy Building: Sustainable Energy
Management in KMUTT, Bangkhunthian campus: Case Study for Net Zero Energy Building” The
researcher team comprised Phadoong Boonpetch, Seubsakul Samermuean, Phayoong Toomnim,
Thanakorn Seuathong, and Pattana Rakkwamsook members of Office of Physical Resource and
Environmental KMUTT Bangkhunthian campus. The presentation was made during the Sustainable
University Network of Thailand meeting 2020 held between 3-4 December 2020 at King Mongkut's
University of Technology Thonburi, Bangkhunthian campus held by Sustainable University Network
of Thailand as a discussion and sharing forum of knowledge, experience, and operation for
sustainable development that contributed to set the universities as examples sustainable
development. The article presented the results of the sustainable energy development operation to
encourage all parties to participate in energy usage reduction and use the knowledge gained within
their organization for efficient corporate energy management which will contribute to the
organization’s success in energy management according to the Sustainable Development Goals
(SDGs) 2030 number 7: support clean energy, number 11: develop sustainable cities and
communities, number 13: reduce impact to global climate, and number 17: build sustainability
network.

KMUTT Received Electrical Charger for MEA
EV Smart Charging Research Project

8 December 2020, the director of the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) provided 4 sets of
electrical charger for the MEA EV Smart Charging System research project to King Mongkut's
University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) at Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA)
headquarter. The two parties signed an agreement for the MEA EV Smart Charging System
Project aimed for installation of public charging stations and promote the use of BEV and PHEV
to improve the smart charging management system and to analyze charging station usage
behavior in the university in the future.

Poster Design Competition “Gen Z Against
Environmental Crisis”

Wednesday 16 December 2020, the social science and humanities fields held a competition of
poster design “Gen Z Against Environmental Crisis” to celebrate Thailand’s Environment Day, to
promote environment and natural resource conservation, and to raise awareness of the current
environmental crisis.

“New Gen without Food Waste” Raises
Awareness for Food Waste

CPRAM co., ltd. together with the Media Arts Program in King Mongkut's University of
Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) held video clip competition “New Gen without Food Waste” for
the third year to help raise awareness against food waste in the youth and empower their
actions in fighting against the food waste. The competition results were as following. For high
school category: first prize: “Food Waste Break Heart” from “Kai Fa” team, St. Dominic School.
Runner-up: “Why Didn’t You Care” from “Why Didn’t You Care” team, Montfort College. Second
Runner-up: “Life Change Earth Change” from “4 A.M.”, Varee Chiangmai School. For college
category, first prize: “How Could You Throw Away a Heart in a Box?” from “RESET PRODUCTION”
team, Rangsit University. Runner up: “Less Rice Please, Auntie” from “Less Rice Please, Auntie”
team, KMUTT. Second runner up: “Fined for Leftovers” from “Tai Ta Dum” team, Naresuan
University.
