A QUARTERLY E-MAGAZINE (YEAR 2017-18)

JULY, AUGUST & SEPTEMBER
MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOL

ISSUE
LVG/05/2ndQuarter/2017-18

FROM OUR PATRON…

I would like to begin by extending my heartiest congratulations to
Mrs. Anita Malhotra and her dynamic team for the success of the
Scholar Badge Ceremony. The dedicated efforts put in by learners,
teachers and parents were duly celebrated in the grand ceremony
in the month of August.

Best wishes to the young learners in leadership roles who were

formally invested during the Investiture Ceremony 2017. This was

the perfect opportunity to discern and nurture the leaders of

tomorrow ready to take on the world! DR. SHAYAMA CHONA

I would also like to commend the Lotus Valley team for a brand PADMASHREE & PADMABHUSHAN
new initiative undertaken this academic session, the ‘Learners’ Led AWARDEE

League’ for Grades IV to VIII, to let our learners ‘lead’ their parents

through the in-roads of their classroom learning. It is a wonderful platform for our children to come forward

and speak in front of their parents explaining their progress towards academics (content/skill) and character

(habits of work and learning).

The school achieved another milestone this year with the First Inter-School Lotus MUN. The Valedictory
Ceremony of Model United Nations Conference, Lotus MUN 2017-Ubi Concordia, Ibi Victoria culminated with
an upbeat ceremony in September, 2017. It provided a platform for 300 delegates to deliberate on world
issues. It was heartening to see the bright young delegates who came much prepared to participate in the
conference. It clearly showcased that the youth have the power to bring a change in the world with their
knowledge and willingness to talk about the world affairs.

The school is ardently pursuing the goal of nurturing the creative thinkers of tomorrow. This is impeccably
achieved using the methodologies of hands-on and experiential learning. The learners of this institution are
being groomed perfectly well to become the global citizens of tomorrow. The values of strength of character,
compassion, responsibility, humility and righteousness imbibed in them by their school, will guide them
through the path of life today and forever.

I firmly believe that the goal of education is not to increase the amount of knowledge but to create possibilities
for a child to invent and discover, to create ‘people’ who are capable of doing new things with unrelenting
vigour and ardour. With the able guidance of Mrs. Anita Malhotra, I envisage the metamorphosis of our young
minds into potent go-getters.

FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK...

Great Education is a combination of a supporting environment,
dedicated teachers and students who take joy in learning. At Lotus
Valley International School, Gurugram we combine all these
factors to achieve a positive learning environment that ensures
the right psychological as well as physical aspects of the teaching-
learning process.

From ensuring the safety of our learners to enabling their personal
and academic development, we are always eager to adopt the
most effective and innovative methods to achieve our targeted
objectives, which focus on, but are not limited to academic
excellence.

Academic Excellence can be defined as the demonstrated ability MRS. ANITA MALHOTRA
to perform or excel in scholastic activities. Learning is a lifelong
process to be enjoyed and celebrated. The aim of education in the STATE & CBSE NATIONAL TEACHER
current times includes the holistic development of intellectual AWARDEE
capacities and skills for life. At the same time, education is much
more than merely being a preparation for future living. It is in fact
the process of living because true progress is achieved through
the development of new attitudes and new interests.

Being a Future-Ready School, equipped with emerging technologies and innovative pedagogies while being
firmly rooted in indigenous traditions of lasting values makes our school a symbol of integration of modernity
and tradition.

Strong emphasis on problem-solving, critical thinking, group work and development of social skills through
collaborative learning projects demonstrate our educational philosophy that centers on Progressive
education.

I hope you enjoy taking a peep into the world of Lotus Valley International School, Gurugram with the fifth
edition of our quarterly e-magazine.
