One yellow gold single row chain stamped 9ct. and dated

One 18ct. Yellow gold Mayoress badge of office.

Dated London 1890.
Oval shaped pendant/badge with corded borders and open strap work set with
16 x Old Cut Diamonds surrounding the centre limoge enamelled shield depicting the
‘THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH OF WIGAN’ with the wording on white enamel.

4. MAYOR’S CONSORT PENDANT AND CHAIN FOR WIGAN
One Silver Gilt Chain and enamelled badge of office.
Single row Silver Gilt chain approx. Length 90cm.
Hallmarked Sterling Silver Birmingham 1965.
Comprises 14 x red enamel Rose of Lancashire links alternating with
13 x oval quatrefoil links.
All joined by plain belcher link chain and connected to a central shield with crown
enamelled with ‘WIGAN’. Round in shape
Silver Gilt pendant on hook with limoge enamel depicting Coat of Arms with the words
‘PROGRESS WITH UNITY’
Hallmarked Sterling Silver Birmingham 1970.

5. THE GREAT MACE
One 17th century Silver Gilt Mace with later 19th century additions.
Comprises a tubular stem engraved with sprigs of Oak leaves and Acorns between
gadrooned knops, the urn shaped base having a Coat of Arms and inscription
recording the gift of Alexander Holt, late goldsmith and Alderman of London and
Wigan in 1657 and a Latin inscription recording the gift from his Executor.
The bowl chased with the emblems of England, France, Scotland and Ireland and the
Borough of Wigan below the titles of Charles ll.
The crown with alternating Fleur-de-lys and cross pattée and stamped with Royal
Arms beneath four arches supporting the orb and cross.

6. THE LESSER MACE
One Silver Plated and Gilt mid 19th century Ceremonial Mace with knopped tubular
Consists of urn shaped foot and plain bowl with crown having a Fleur-de-lys and cross
pattée rim fitted with four arches rising to an orb and cross indicative of late 17th
century. Caryatid scrolls fitted on staff below the bowl.

One Pair of early 17th century HALBERDS.
Comprising Steel hands with wavy spear points, the crescent blades pierced with
heart motifs and the pick backs with initials ‘HM’.
Both with Ash wooden shafts.

One Victorian Officer’s Sword with slightly curved blade inscribed ‘WIGAN RIFLES’, the
lancet guard with tied bugle, fish skin grip and plated scabbard.

One Ceremonial sword with two edged blade and red velvet covered scabbard and
Quillons with rounded ends and scabbard bearing the Arms of Charles ll.

The Silver head engraved with leaves and inscription dated 1702. Another Silver
collar inscribed with details of the donor.
