української ікони Х-ХХ століть», «Іконологія та іконо-
C вященне церковне мистецтво Дмитро Степовик графія», «Мистецтво ікони: Рим, Візантія, Україна», «Су-
вивчає з 60-х років ХХ ст. В умовах шаленого часна українська ікона» автор поламав деякі контра-
версійні стереотипи іконознавців стосовно домінування
опору безбожників-атеїстів усьому, що пов’яза- у світі лише двох національних осередків іконотворчості
- грецького та московитського, а також переглянув у
не з Церквою, йому пощастило лише 1975 року світлі вчення Церкви доцільність застосування в іконі
різних деформацій - в іконографії, композиції, колори-
опублікувати свою монографію про гравера Олександра- стиці тощо.

Антонія Тарасевича - відомого ілюстратора богословсь- Дмитро Степовик народився 1938 року поблизу Бер-
дичева Житомирської області. Освіту здобув у Київсько-
ких книг ХVІІ ст. у Литві, Білорусі й Україні. Згодом ав- му державному університеті ім. Тараса Шевченка,
аспірантурі Національної Академії наук України (в
тор публікує, теж не без труднощів та опору влади, кни- Інституті мистецтвознавства, фольклористики й етно-
логії цієї Академії, де й працює вже 36 років), докторан-
ги про давніх мистців Леонтія Тарасевича, Івана-Іно- турі Українського Вільного Університету в Мюнхені, Ба-
варія. Має наукові ступені кандидата мистецтвознавства,
кентія Щирського та концептуальну працю про ілюст- доктора мистецтвознавства, доктора філософських наук,
доктора богословських наук; вчені звання доцента, стар-
ративну й естампну (станкову) графіку доби Гетьманщи- шого наукового працівника, професора. Паралельно ви-
кладає історію християнського мистецтва й візанто-
ни «Українська графіка ХVI-XVIII століть: Еволюція об- логію в Київській Духовній Академії Православної Цер-
кви Київського Патріархату та Івано-Франківськиій
разної системи». У визволеній, незалежній Україні Дми- Теологічній Академії УГКЦ. Має академічні й церковні
нагороди, премії та відзнаки. Іконотворчість мистців ук-
тро Степовик безпосередньо зайнявся дослідженням раїнської діаспори проф. Степовик вивчав безпосеред-
ньо, відвідавши після здобуття Україною незалежості
США, Канаду, Італію, Францію, Німеччину, Велику Бри-
танію та інші країни, де живуть українські емігранти.
