2.1 In case of Thesis Defense, the document to submit to propose
the Defense comprises the Thesis Composition and Academic Article
according to the approval of the Thesis Advisor Committee; the number of
copies is according to the number of members of the Thesis Defense
Examination committee.
2.2 In case of Independent Study Defense, the document to submit
to propose the Defense comprises Academic Article and Defense Examination
of the Academic Article; the number of copies is according to the number of
members of the Defense Examination Committee.
3. Submissions of Thesis and Independent Study must be processed as
follows:
3.1 All students in plan Gor (plan 1) of all programs are to comply
with the announcement of Graduate School of Khon Kaen University
(Announcement No. 72/2548), for students who started their program since
year 2005 to present.
(a) In the case that the thesis is not published, students are to submit
the thesis as a copy of academic article and a copy of CD to the Faculty; the CD
consists of:
-The thesis in the form of an academic article, file name:
Journal.doc
-The abstract as a part of the article in Thai, file name:
Abstract_T.doc
-The abstract as a part of the article in English, file name:
Abstract_T.doc
(b) In the case that the thesis is published or accepted to be
published or to be a part of an academic paper accepted to be published in
a journal or a periodical publication or presented in an academic conference
with proceeding, students are to submit the proof of presentation or
publication enclosed with the document stated in (a).
3.2 For all students in plan Kor (plan 1)

3.2.4 After the Defense Examination, students are to submit
the corrected academic article to the officer of Graduate School in the
Faculty within 45 days after the Defense Examination date for the approval of
graduation. If students do not submit the document and other materials as
stated in 3.2, the Faculty is unable to approve his/her graduation due to
incomplete qualification.

Independent Study
Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences
To obtain decent process for request of Proposal Examination of
thesis / independent study of graduate students of the Faculty of Humanities
and Social Sciences in all programs and to benefit to the students and to
comply with approval of Graduate Study Committee in the meeting 12/2550
on 6 July 2007, the guidelines for request of Proposal Examination for thesis/
independent study are set as follows:
1. This announcement is referred to as “Announcement of Faculty
of Humanities and Social Sciences (Announcement No. 65/2550) on the
subject: Guidelines for Request of Proposal Examination for Thesis/
Independent Study, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Khon Kaen
University”. Other announcements that collide with this announcement are
annulled and must comply with only this announcement.
2. This announcement is active to all students since the first
semester year 2008.
3. The guideline for request of Proposal Examination of thesis/
independent study is as follows:
3.1 Students, who have enrolled in Thesis/ Independent Study
course, must take an examination and propose his/her thesis/ independent
study proposal within two semesters.
3.2 Students must submit a request form (Bor Sor 01) together
with the proposal of thesis/ independent study at least 5 days prior to the
examination date.
3.3 The Chairperson of Program Committee must nominate at
least two proposal examination committee members. The proposal
examination committee must include:

- A fulll-time lecturer who must not be the principal advisor
or a co-advisor; or he/she must be an expert from outside institutions. One
examiner can be selected within this category.
- The principal advisor and co-advisors (in case that there
are co-advisors of the thesis) but the Chairperson of the Proposal
Examination Committee must not be either the principal advisor or co-
advisors.
3.4 On the proposal examination day, at least two committee
members must be present in the examination room. If not, the examination
must be postponed. In some cases, the change of examiners is possible. The
new examination date must be determined considering that the examiners
have sufficient time to finish reading the proposal of thesis/ independent
study.
3.5 If students pass the thesis/ independent study examination,
they must submit 5 copies of proposal which is approved by the proposal
examination committee to the Graduate Study Section within 30 days after
the examination date. If the students fail to submit the proposal within the
timeframe, the examination must be annulled.

To obtain decent process for request of Approval of Thesis /
Independent Study Proposal of graduate students of the Faculty of
Humanities and Social Sciences in all programs and to benefit to the students
and to comply with the Graduate School Announcement No. 88/2555,
Subject: Guidelines and Criteria for Thesis and Independent Study
Composition, approval of Graduate Study Committee in the meeting 2/2556
on 28 February 2013, approval of Faculty Committee in the meeting 3/2556
on 7 March 2013, the guidelines for Request of Approval of thesis/
independent study Proposal are set as follows:
1. This announcement is referred to as “Announcement of Faculty of
Humanities and Social Sciences (Announcement No. 7/2556) on the subject:
Request of Approval of thesis/ independent study Proposal, Faculty of
Humanities and Social Sciences, Khon Kaen University.
2. This is annulment of the Announcement of Faculty of Humanities
and Social Sciences (Announcement No. 65/2550) on the subject: Guidelines
for Request of Proposal Examination for Thesis/ Independent Study, Faculty
of Humanities and Social Sciences, Khon Kaen University. This announcement
is to replace the annulled one and is active to all students since the first
semester year 2013.
3. To propose for the approval of thesis/ independent study
proposal, the Program Committee must consider and select guidelines and
criteria for the students in the program. The options for selection (3.1 and
3.2) are shown as follows.
3.1 Thesis/ Independent Study Proposal Examination
(1) Students must submit a request form (Bor Sor 01) together
with the proposal of thesis/ independent study, which is approved by his/her
advisor, at least 5 days prior to the examination date.

(2) The Chairperson of Program Committee must nominate at
least two proposal examination committee members. The proposal
examination committee must include: a fulll-time lecturer who must not be
the principal advisor or a co-advisor; or he/she must be an expert from
outside institutions. One examiner can be selected within this category. One
of the examiners in this category will chair the committee board while the
principal advisor and the co-advisor (if any) will be a committee member.
(3) Seminar and evaluation among the committee board are
to replace the proposal examination. The students must present their thesis/
independent study proposal at least once in a seminar arranged by the
Program. They must answer all questions arisen in the seminar, listen to
comments and suggestions from lecturers and experts who are invited to the
seminar.
Criteria and strategies designed by the Program Committee must be
properly written, informed, and publicized to all advisors and students in the
program, so everyone will adopt the same rule.
4. When students accomplish 3.1 or 3.2 under the process
supervised by the Program Committee, they must submit 5 copies of
proposal with the Request for Proposal Approval Form (Bor Wor 23) to the
Graduate Study Section. The request will be later submitted to the Dean for
approval.

Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences
To obtain decent process for thesis composition of Master’s Degree
students of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in all programs and
to benefit to the students and to comply with the Annouchment of Graduate
School, Khon Kaen University, approval of Graduate Study Section meeting
No. 1/2556 on 11 January 2013, approval of Faculty Committee in the
meeting No. 4/2556 on 7 March 2556. The guidelines are set as follows:
1. This announcement is referred to as “Announcement of Faculty
of Humanities and Social Sciences (Announcement No. 8/2556) on the
subject: Guidelines for Thesis Composition of Master’s Degree Students (Type
Gor 1. 1.), Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Khon Kaen University.
Other announcements that collide with this announcement are annulled and
must comply with only this announcement.
2. This announcement is active to all Master’s Degree students
(Type Gor 1. 1.), who enrolled in the first semester of the academic year 2013
and semesters afterwards.
3. Students are eligible to enroll in the Thesis course once they are
approved by the Program.
4. The number of credits for the first-time enrollment of this course
must be suggested by the advisor.
5. The criteria of progress assessment of the thesis is set as follows:
5.1 arrange significant of problems, research objective, and
research’s definition of terms 3 credits

5.7 complete conclusion of the study and suggestions, and submit the
final draft of the complete thesis, which consists of all components in compliance
with Graduate School’s guideline. 6 credits
Total 36 credits
Once students achieve all the criteria and the Thesis Advisor
Committee approves, the students shall obtain “S” symbol according to the
credits enrolled.
6. Other procedures must be in compliance with Announcements
of the Graduate School, Khon Kaen University.
