Clean House

This is a clean house. There is a beautiful garden. The
surrounding of the house also looks neat and clean. There is a
dustbin to throw wastes. There is a clean toilet and bathroom.
There are no garbage and flies. Like this house, my house is
also neat and clean.
We can live a healthy life in a clean house. We like to live in a
clean house. A clean house looks attractive and beautiful.

Dirty House

This is a dirty house. We don't like to live in a dirty house. The
surrounding of the house is very dirty. There are flies, garbage
and germs. Germs may cause various diseases like diarrhoea
and dysentery. There is no toilet and bathroom. I don't want to
live in this dirty house.

Clean School

This is a clean school. It looks beautiful. There is a beautiful
garden. There are different types of plants and flowers in the
garden. The surrounding of the school is also neat and clean.
The classrooms are also neat and clean. We do not pluck flowers
from the school garden. We throw wrappers and waste papers
in a dustbin. The toilet is neat and clean. We flush the toilet
after use. We like to study in a neat and clean school.

Dirty School

This is a dirty school. I don't like to study in this dirty school.
There are plastics, waste papers and wrappers on the ground.
The classrooms are also very dirty. There is no toilet. There is
no dustbin. The walls of the school are also dirty. In the ground,
there are cows, pigs and dogs. The students of this school make
the school dirty but do not help to clean the school.

To live a healthy life, we should live in a neat and clean
environment. So, we should keep our house and school clean.
We should throw wastes in a dustbin. We should not pluck

Our Foods

We eat a variety of foods in our daily life. We eat rice, bread,
meat, fish, eggs, fruits, vegetables, milk, curd and ghee. Most of
our food items are obtained from plants. The various food items
that are obtained from plants and animals are given below:

1. Cereals

Plants like rice, maize, wheat and barley are called cereals. We
use cereals for making chapati, bread and rice.

2. Running
The act of moving fast with the help of legs is called running.

ó Explain static skills of physical exercise to the students.
ó Introduce and demonstrate body-bending, hanging, swinging and

climbing one by one to the students.

ó Find a suitable place to play games.
ó Evaluate the students on the basis of their performance in games and

asking them various questions related to static skills of physical exercise.

Static Skills of Physical Exercise

Static skills of physical exercise include activities like bending,
hanging, swinging and climbing. These exercises are done at
a proper place. Static exercises are done by sitting, lying down
and standing.
1. Bending
We can bend our body as shown in the figures.

2. Hanging
We enjoy hanging on poles or ropes. Let us practise.

3. Swinging
Swinging is done by using a rope. Let us practise swinging as
shown in the pictures.

4. Climbing
We can climb on a rope, a pole or a tree. But we should climb
carefully.

Learning Objectives

After completing the study of this unit, students will be able to:
a. introduce physical training (PT).
b. how to perform the PT No. 1 to 4.

Teaching Instructions

ó Introduce PT (Physical training) to the students.
ó Tell the students that PT is practised counting upto 16.
ó Warm up the students before performing PT.
ó In PT No. 1, hands should be kept up from the front in counting 1 and 2 and

down from the side in counting 3 and 4. Then hands should be crossed. Then
hands should be kept crossed in counting 16.
ó In PT No. 2, knees should be bent right and left keeping hands up and crossed.
We should stand straight in counting 1 and we should stand on legs' paw keeping
hands down in counting 2.
ó In PT No. 3, hands should be crossed over forehead and then should be kept
down extending right and left in counting 1 and 2. Similarly, in counting 3 and
4, hands should be crossed in front of the belly from up and down.
ó In PT No. 4, left leg should be kept aside stretching crossed hands right and
left in counting 1. Hands should be lowered and kept crossed in counting 2.
Similarly, the chest should be stretched extending both hands back in counting
3. Hands should be kept crossed in front of the belly in counting 4.

Physical Training

Physical training is the act of moving different parts of the body.
We should perform physical training daily. It makes our body
strong, fit and healthy. In physical training, we count upto 16.
Let us warm up and perform physical training as follows:
1. PT No. 1: Exercise of hands

3. PT No. 3: Exercise of shoulders
