2 FOREWORD Shakespeare said, I believe, “Brevity is the soul of wit” and Neil Gaiman said that short stories are journeys you can make to the far side of the universe and still be back in time for dinner. In addition, our students have abided by both these maxims and have produced some of the most wonderful pieces replete with their own art, their own characters and some of the most wonderful stories. I would like to congratulate the fantastic Home Room Teachers, on their stellar efforts to elicit this work from their students; the students, for their perseverance on this task every single day over many weeks; and to all our parents, who have supported our reading program and the development of reading skills at home. I do hope you will enjoy this book as much as we have all enjoyed creating it and this will occupy a proud place on your bookshelf for many years to come and, God willing, just the first in the many literary successes in the lives of our students.

THE LION AND THE JAGUAR By Aarav Achan PYP 4 A Once upon a time in the deep, dark woods, there lived a Jaguar called James. He lived with his wife and son. Every day the Jaguar would go out, to look for food for his family. James would trap his prey and take it home. The family would then have their dinner and anything left over was kept for the next day. In the afternoon, James would go down to the river and meet his brother there, they would swim in the water and wait for a group of peacocks, that came there every day! The Peacocks would roam around the trees near the river, drink fresh water and look at their reflection in the river. James and his brother would pounce on the nearest bird and that would be their family’s dinner. One day James came out of his den in a cave near the trees and spotted a lion in the distance, he thought to himself, I have always wanted to be the king of the jungle, maybe this is my chance to kill the lion and be the king of the jungle. He tried to pounce on the lion from behind, but the lion put him down and asked him what he wanted. James the Jaguar said, “I want to be the king of the jungle”, to which the lion said, “we will ask the animals of the jungle to vote for one of us to be king”. Two trees were selected kapok tree for the lion and palm tree for the jaguar. Each of the animals in the jungle had to vote by scraping their name on a rock and placing it below the tree of the particular animal they choose to be their king. All the animals voted for the lion, as he was kind and helped and protected the animals in the jungle. The jaguar, James was sad but he decided to go on with his life, as usual. He walked back to his den and was happy being back with his family and jaguar friends.

Close Call By Armaan Nayak PYP 4 A Chapter 1: Flight Information +2:15 UTC 14/09/2015 Haneda Tokyo International airport, boarding starts at gate 3. A flight from Tokyo to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysian airlines MH498 registered as 9M-ALK (9 Mike- Alpha Lima Kilo). Today 3 captains are operating, captain Deepak Sharma from India, co-pilot Abdul Mohammad from Malaysia, and flight engineer Zaharia Shah from Malaysia too. The flight is scheduled to depart HMD (Haneda International airport) Airport, Tokyo, Japan) at UTC +2 :15 and arrive at KUL (KualaLumpur International airport in Malaysia) at UTC 10:30. Chapter 2: About the Aircraft The aircraft was a Boeing 777-300ER a very successful aircraft built by Boeing an American aircraft building company, the aircraft was bought by Malaysian airlines in the early 2003 the bird is almost 13 years old. This airline`s aircraft was only once met with an incident with this aircraft of suspected fuel leaks, the flight was from Manila to Kuala Lumpur, and it was again diverted to Manila that was not that old incident it was only 2 years ago. Everyone was safe after that incident. So the Filipino and Malaysian civil aviation authorities came to an conclusion that, to triple check all the aircraft before departure and after arriving in Malaysia and Philippines to any other country in the world, and minimal time to inspect was 30 minutes. Therefore, the aircraft was triple checked by the captains and ground crew. Chapter 3: Initial start of this flight. The pilots when they reached the airport they went to their office and got information about the aircraft that they will be flying in. They had to do many things and checklists. The pilots came to the aircraft at 12:30am and started inspection of the aircraft. The 2 pilots checked the aircraft, and the flight engineer did the checklist, pilots and cabin crew then boarded the aircraft after the inspection, but the procedure was yet not complete, so captains did some more checklists. Now it was 1:50 am it was nearly boarding time then the cabin crew and ground crew were both ready. Boarding started and it was going smooth, the captains checked the flaps and spoilers all working perfectly fine. Then the pilots and cabin crew welcomed all the passengers and gave information about the flight. Everything was ensured then the captain made an announcement telling the ground crew to kindly deboard the aircraft and told the cabin crew to please close the aircraft doors. Then the cabin crew explained the emergency procedures and told everyone to kindly read the safety manual.

The captains of flight MH498 contacted HND ATC and requested pushback. “Flight MH498 approved to pushback,” said the ATC. “Thank you,” said the captain. Pushback started. After pushback the captain asked, “Requesting engine startup,” said the captain. Shortly ATC replied, “Request approved MH498”. “Thanks” said the captain. Chapter 4: Taxing and Takeoff Shortly after the engine startup request the captain asked the “Requesting to taxi” the ATC replied “Request approved MH498” “Thanks” said the captain. Then afterwards taxi started (taxi meaning to go on a road for airplanes called a taxiway leading to a runway or a gate) the captain asked, “What is the runway number” (just to reconfirm) ATC replied saying that “Runway 34R” (R meaning right) captain replied, “Thank you”. The taxi had started runway 34R was in the opposite of gate 3 so the passengers had a blast, because they saw various airplanes like the A380, B787, B777, A320, A340, B747 and many more aircraft. Then the pilots extended the flaps nearly before reaching the runway. Then they asked the ATC “Requesting runway lineup” the ATC replied “Please wait at taxiway and let the aircraft in front of you takeoff” captain replied “Roger that”. The pilots were religious, so they did a short prayer that they would have a smooth flight. They waited for ten minutes then they lined up the runway. The captain asked ATC “Requesting takeoff” ATC said, “Request approved”. Then the captain said full thrust the co-pilot did what the captain said then it was V1 speed was 149 knots (meaning the aircraft can`t abort the takeoff) then at 155 knots the captain said rotate (Rotate meaning to pull the yoke/ the handle so the aircraft could takeoff) then shortly after takeoff at 160 knots said the captain V2 ( V2 meaning positive climb rate) then the co-pilot retracted the landing gear. The flight took off before time. Chapter 5: The surprising part 1 hour into the flight MH498 was flying over the Devil's sea where the Dragon's triangle is located. The Dragon's triangle is just like the Bermuda triangle but located near the Philippine Sea and East China sea. It is near Japan, Taiwan, and the Philippines. KUL ATC asked MH498 to connect to radio 19820.5 the Taipei ATC. Then MH498 said good night ATC bye, then the ATC replied to bye good night. Afterwards the crew switched the radio to 19820.5 and greeted the Taipei ATC so did the ATC. They were passing through the Devil's sea when suddenly 38,000ft from land engine 1 stopped working pilots saw and heard the alarm that the engine stopped working. Then the pilots tried to do what was in there in the procedure, the unthinkable happened they lost control with ATC and the ATC could not see MH498 in their radar. The aircraft started to dive up and down moving 1000ft at each dive despite triple checking. Then ATC said to another aircraft nearby MH498 that please try to contact MH498. The aircraft was an ANA airline JA146 from Osaka to Manila. JA146 tried to contact MH498 but it failed. Captains in MH498 are trying to solve the issue but nothing is working. Then suddenly pilots saw a thunderstorm approaching directly at them the nose dives more down at the sea they reach 1000ft then the pilots got the control back they recover just at 378ft then there was still a problem on engine 1 then engine no.2 also had failed so they sorted that issue using a Ram turbine engine. Ram turbine is a small turbine attached to an aircraft that can last up to 3 to 4 hours. So, captains used Ram jet turbine. They tried to contact ATC this time god was on their side and could connect to Taipei ATC the captains said “ Mayday Mayday Mayday” (meaning we have an emergency) ATC asked “What is your emergency” then the captains told their emergency. Afterwards Taipei ATC

gave them a priority landing (meaning any runway landing and no aircraft can go under the aircraft) then the pilots told their location. So the resolution is that MH498 has a priority landing at TPE. They are 10 nautical miles from TPE and they are using Ram jet turbine. After the pilots end the conversation they tell all passengers that “We will be doing an emergency landing at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport located in Taipei, Taiwan due to our engine failure, all passengers are requested to stay calm thank you and sorry for the inconvenience.” The TPE ATC contacts the TPE emergency unit to stay at all the runways and help in evacuation to flight MH498. Chapter 7: Landing The ATC informs MH498 that the emergency unit is ready on all runways then ATC asks how many nautical miles are from TPE. Pilot replies “ 1.75 nautical miles from TPE ,we will maybe land on runway 5L” then the captain says to the cabin crew to get ready for landing. The co-pilot extends the landing gear. They are 0.54 nautical miles from runway 5L. Passengers and crew are praying to god. Then the aircraft came near the runway and it stay stable but the skilled captain Deepak Sharma tells that he is going to land then the aircraft touches down then evacuation immediately started the slides inflated outside the aircraft the emergency unit was helping in the evacuation and the media telecasting the event live on tv everyone was praying flight attendants helped in evacuation everyone was off the aircraft except the pilots fire was trying get extinguished outside the aircraft and pilot using a rope evacuated safely then everyone was took to the terminal and they went on another flight to Kuala Lumpur safely. Chapter 8: Investigation After all this had happened the Malaysian, after all this had happened the Malaysian, Taiwanese, and Japanese aviation authorities started an investigation then later on they found out that there was a small spark in the main unit and fuel leaks in the wings of the aircraft so due to these reasons this incident happened. The fuel leaks before that incident were from Manila to Kuala Lumpur so they repaired the aircraft temporarily. It could stay for a maximum of 3 years.

Chapter 9: The awards ceremony So, after all this had happened all the pilots got a reward as best pilots. The awards were given from the government of Malaysia, Taiwan, and Japan. This award isn't any small grade reward it is a great grade reward and achievement that nobody even got a minor scratch in this incident that is absolutely amazing. This award in the aviation community is a great achievement for a pilot. The end Thank you for reading.

Pizza Mr. Bean By Bhargav Reddy PYP 4 A Mr. Bean says lunch time for Teddy and sees pizza menu and chooses Pepperoni pizza in pizza menu and calls Don Crustyoni's Pizza delivery and Mr. Bean waits for pizza and the bell rings and Mr. Bean picks a pizza box and buy for £5 and opens the pizza box. Mr. Bean sees a small pizza on pizza box and picks a pizza menu and he looks in pizza menu. He sees a big pizza in pizza box which is small, and Mr. Bean eats a pizza and questions Teddy for a bit of pizza and says no and still hungry and Mr. Bean says "I wonder if I can make my own pizza..." Mr. Bean picks a recipe for pizza and alleged Teddy with the flour. And makes a flour and crusting pizza and falls into Mr. Bean's head .and makes a Teddy bear and cooks a pizza and Mr. Bean eats a slice of pizza and says "Ah! Yummy!" . Mr. Bean draws a pizza menu and goes to photocopies and gives to peoples and Mr. Bean goes to door mail for a pizza menu and gives pizza menu into Don Crustyoni's deliveryman. Mr. Bean buys a recipe for a pizza and pizza box and Mr. Bean buys to a pizza box and gets a first call and makes a pizza crust and rotates tomato sauce and Mr. Bean delivers now a pizza and gets a first money and Mr. Bean got too many calls and Mr. Bean draws a pizza machine and Mr. Bean gets a relax. Mr. Bean gets a call and opens a pizza machine and Don Crustyoni's Delivery man sleeps and Mr. Bean's company names Pizza Bean looks too many money and orders. Don Crustyoni is angry because there's no orders and looks Pizza Bean menu and calls Pizza Bean and Mr. Bean gets a last call for a first day and says "No more! We're closed!" and Don calls pizza bean and Mr. Bean goes to Don Crustyoni's palace and clicks a doorbell. Bodyguards coming took him to Don's desk. Don saw the menu and decided to put him out of business (payback for Bean who took orders from other people, willing for Pizza Bean instead of Don Crustyoni's). Don Crustyoni's took Mr. Bean on to the top of the palace they both started fighting the pizza fell on Don Crustyoni's face he ate it he said mm!!!! So tasty and left Mr. Bean. Thank you

The Secret Keys By Avni Jain PYP 4 A Zele: Zinger Zack Zad Introduction Zele was 13 and Zack was 14. Their stepmother’s name was Zad, and they had a dog called Zinger. They stayed in Tarina a beautiful city, in a friendly and rich neighborhood called Zilla, in block 7 mansion 366. Zele loved books so much, her room was like a library. On the other hand, Zack didn’t love books that much, but he loved adventurous stuff. His room had treasure chests filled with trea…trea… treasury stuff. Zad’s room was parenty cooly stuff (I don’t know if that made sense, but it means parent + cool stuff). Chapter 1: The map Zinger went to Zele and showed her a key with a note that said, ‘UNDER YOU’. Zele called Zack and Zad, to help her move the enormous sofa. There were 3 key slots and the first key fit in one of the slots! Beside them was a map, it said something in Zaraliva, a language spoken in north Tarina. Zad knew that language because she was from north Tarina. She read it out loud “find the 3 keys and give it to god Curen, look around house ‘367’ in the neighborhood Greninjo, you should find 2 hints. When you find the two keys then go to a city called Falowre, that’s where Curen stays”. Map: Chapter 2: In 367 Greninjo “Ok this is 367” said Zad and rang the doorbell. Nobody opened the door for 10 minutes. “It must be an abandoned house” said Zad.

“If it's an abandoned house where is the key to open the door?” asked Zack. “Check under the doormat that’s what they do in all movies” suggested Zele. Zad checked under the dusty doormat and found a key. They tried to put the key in the door and it fit, no wonder Zele was right. They went around searching for hints and Zinger found one. It said ‘Nafilogas Luxury Hotel Jack’. Luckily their map was with them, and their next place to go was Nafilogas. They took the hint and went home. They planned to come later to get other hint. Chapter 3: Going to Nafilogas Zad was trying to understand what the hint meant. Zele typed Nafilogas Luxury Hotel on her laptop. It showed hotel’s contact number as 5673988873, Zele called that number and they responded. This is how the conversation went: Luxury Hotel: “Hello this is Luxury Hotel, Jasmine speaking”. Zele: “Hello my name is Zele, I would like to book one room with 3 beds.” Luxury Hotel: “Sure we can do that.” Zele: “Thank you um….” Luxury Hotel: “Anything else?” Zele: “Um…… is there anyone called Jack that works or stays in your Hotel? If there is, we would like to talk to him when we come.” Luxury Hotel: “Yes, Jack works here, I will inform him.” Both: “Bye have a nice day!” “I booked a room” said Zele “and I booked a flight at 10:45 pm because that's the earliest flight I could find,” said Zack. They all started to pack their bags to go to Nafilogas. They went to the airport at 4:00 pm after lunch. The airport was 4 hours away!! Chapter 4: In Luxury Hotel Zad was checking-in, while Zele asked Jasmine where Jack was? Jasmine instantly remembered and asked Jack to come to the reception. They told him the whole story from beginning. He told; he will meet them the next day to give them they key in their room. Jasmine handed over the card and all 3 of them went to the room. They all rested because it was a very hectic day. Next day, Jack came to their room to hand over the key #2. They checked out a day early and went back home to Tarina. They dozed off right away as it was 4:00 am when they reached home. They put the key# 2 in the slot and it fit!! Chapter 5: Quest for The Last Hint

Back to 367 Greninjo. “I found one, I found one”, screamed Zack. He read the hint out loud “333 Grand Road, Camer, Sophia Williams”. It also came with a picture. Zack kept it in his pocket. They looked at the map, it said to find 2 hints and they found both!! Sophia Williams Chapter 6: In Camer “Um…. can you take us to this address” asked Zack, showing the hint to the taxi driver. “Sure”, he nodded. They arrived in half an hour. ‘DING DONG!’ Sophia opened the door, and this is how the conversation went: Sophia: “Hello” Zack: “Hello” Sophia: “Do you need anything?” Zack: “Um…. yeah, we actually found this hint about our quest, it says your name and address on it, so we came here.” Sophia: “Actually Jack told me everything, I do have the key. Before you take it, do you want to come inside and rest for some time?” Zack: “Thanks for inviting us, we don’t want to be rude, but we are in a hurry.” Sophia: “No problem, here is the key.” Zack: “Thank you.” They were headed to the bus-stop, Zack exclaimed “Oh nooo!”. He had dropped the key in poop, on the roadside!! Soooo disgusting. When they came back home, Zad saw that the kids had found the last key and she told them that they can now continue without her.

Zele said squinching her nose,” Zack you are stinking so much that I can’t even describe!!”. Anyway, like always the key# 3 fit in the slot, no surprise. I know it’s boring (BUT KEEP READING THE INTERESTING PART IS ABOUT TO COME!). Chapter 7: Giving Keys To Curen “Finally, we are in Falowre” exclaimed the three at the same time. “Jinx”, said Zele. Then a paper fell out of nowhere, it said: ffffff. Using the map, they reached the lava river, and had to cross it using the burning hot metal bridge. When they made it to the graveyard, they heard a big “ROAR”. They got scared and started running, something big jumped out. It screamed, “I am the Graveien Monster a.k.a. guardian of Curen”. “I remember reading a book about Graveien Monster” said Zele. “This is not the time to talk about your book, can’t you see we are about to die!!” fumbled Zack. Zele ignored Zack (not like it the first time she ignored him) and opened a book called ‘MONSTER IN REAL LIFE’. She went to page 1024, chapter 3 ‘Graveien Monster’. It said to go past him, show the 3 keys and the hints and tell him ‘We need to go to Curen’ and give the keys to him. Zele followed the instructions exactly, he calmed down and let them go. He showed the way, even if they had to walk up exactly 342 stairs it was worth it. When they came up (after hours) they gave the keys to Curen, he joined them into a single key (cool, right?). Curen gave them two options: First one: Get to see the past and the future for a month. Second one: Bring their parents back to life and get to live with them till Zele is 20. They both choose the second option together. Curen opened the door using the key. “MOM DAD, WE MISSED YOU SO MUCH” Zack & Zele screamed, and they all pulled in a big hug. THE END

The Unique Boy By Dhanush Alam PYP 4 A Chapter one: The unique boy On an auspicious day, a unique boy with ……was born to a curious family in the city of …... After turning one month old he already learnt how to walk! So they chose his name as…” Bolt”. Once he turned five, his teachers were surprised because he understood and learned addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. He also scored A+ in all subjects. His parents were surprised and very happy with him. Because of that they also gave him an allowance of 10,000₹. In school he was very popular. But there was one very special thing about him… But after all of this, he started taking everything for granted, which was bad. You know that people shouldn’t take everything for granted. Or God will take away what he gave just to make you appreciate the things that you got. Chapter two: The Midnight Snack (At this point of time Bolt is 8 years old) In the middle of the night there was a loud grumble, to that sound he woke up and realized it was his stomach. He was awfully hungry, so he ran downstairs. THUMP! THUMP! THUMP! His hair was all messy, his shirt was wrinkled, he was wearing red and black checkered pajamas. He opened the fridge door and immediately searched for some fruit ice cream that was left over from dessert. While he was searching for the ice cream… an enormous purple and black portal opened right beside him, but it was very quiet, so he didn’t realize it. From it came a green, hairy hand with sharp claws, sharper than an iron sword. But when it grabbed him tightly, he turned around slowly and screamed very loud. He yelped for his parents, but they were fast asleep. He got kidnapped by monsters… Chapter three:” The Monster World”

When he woke up from being unconscious, he realized that he had been kidnapped by monsters and adding to his fear he realised he had been locked in a cage. The room that the cage was in looked like a secret lab with lots of liquids, machines and buttons. One of the machines looked like an armchair, and it looked suspicious because of a head rest, and two chains connected to the arm rests. He tried many ways to escape. At first, he tried to break open the bars, but it was metal, so he couldn’t get it to open. Second, he tried to slide through the bars, but that didn’t work because the bars were too close together. Lastly, Bolt searched for the keys but didn’t find it. Just then a monster tumbled in through a giant door. He grabbed Bolt out of the cage and dumped him into the deadly armchair. Bolt questioned, “Why did you bring me here, what do you want?!” The monster blurted out, “To extract your super-fast speed of course.” “What, what do you mean?!” Bolt said. The monster responded with a “Ha, you don’t know about speed capability?” You can run up to a million kph! He spoke. “So, I need to extract it from you and give your power to my master.” He said. Immediately, Bolt asked to look at the keys, thankfully the monster wasn’t smart enough and gave it to him. Bolt tried to concentrate to activate his speed, then it worked! He quickly released himself from the chains and pressed every single button, to see which one opened the portal again. Finally, he pressed the correct button, and ran into the portal and immediately closed it again. He got back home, but noticed it was the exact same time he got kidnapped. He realized that while the time was running in The Monster World, the time would stop in his world. Then he went back to sleep without getting his midnight snack. Chapter four: The Lesson The next day he woke up and told the whole story to his parents, but he thinks they don’t believe him. But he learned a lesson, never to go down in the middle of the night to get a midnight snack even if you are hungry. Everything went well that day, but just then he remembered that he has super speed. So he wanted to start a new adventure… a race.

Afonso’s Amazing Amazon Adventure By Dhruv 4A A Few Decades Later…: (See the picture after you finish reading) Chapter 1: A Rambunctious Red Surprise One Saturday morning in a house bordering the amazon rainforest, Afonso was finishing up a diorama for school. It was about the effects of deforestation on animals. As he was constructing a paper tree, he heard a voice calling from his window saying: “Hello my name is Redwood. Startled, Afonso ran to the source of the voice. “Have you seen my mom?”, the voice continued “She looks like me except bigger.” When Afonso reached the window, he found a Maned wolf pup on his window sill. He stood in shock because he was confused as to why Redwood had entered his house. To answer Redwood’s question he said “No, but what happened?” “Well, I was napping while my mom went hunting. I adruptly woke up to the buzzing sound of chainsaws. I knew there were some humans cutting down trees near my den. I heard them calling themselves the Trucgers of Ulisses. I assumed that Ulisses was their boss. But, I had more important things to do like looking for my mother, and so I ran off. But I think I lost my way and ended up here.” Chapter 2: An Exciting Escape and a Family Reunion Afonso felt bad for Redwood, he decided he would help the little maned wolf pup find his mother and stop the Trucgers of Ulisses. Together they hatched a plan to find his mother without being caught by the evil gang of loggers led by Ulisses. First, they had to cross the dense forest and follow Ulisses gang as Redwood suspected the Trucgers had captured his mother somwhere near in the middle east of the jungle. Second, they had to figure out how they would break Redwood’s mother free if she was indeed captured by the Trucgers. Third, they had to stop the illegal loggers from causing any harm to nature anymore. After a grueling trek through the jungle they finally spotted the Trucgers. They heard Redwood’s mother, Kiki, yelping in pain. This confirmed Redwood’s suspicions. They hid in some bushes as the Trucgers set up camp for the night. Redwood spotted some keys hanging from Ulisses’ wallet. Redwood was sure these were the keys to the cage holding his mother. They waited for the Trucgers to fall asleep and then they slowly emerged from the bushes. Now all they had to do was to quietly steal the keys from Ulisses’ wallet. Afonso crept towards Ulisses and managed to grab the keys without waking him up. They unlocked Kiki’s cage, and Kiki nuzzled Redwood and

quietly thanked Afonso. They escaped without making any noise. They decided to teach the Trucgers a lesson so no more animals would lose their habitat. Chapter 3: Trucgers Learn a Lesson Since they were hopelessly outnumbered, they prepared a trap for the Trucgers. They stole a long, strong rope slung the other end of the rope over a branch of a rubber tree close-by. They then tied the other rope around the base of another tree. They tied the last part of the rope to a big fallen log nearby. As the Trucgers woke up they saw the cage was empty, they scanned the area and saw Kiki. Next to her was Redwood. The Trucgers immediately readied their pistols and ak47s. They aimed at Kiki and Redwood who backed away until the Trucgers were under the hovering log. Kiki made the rarely heard roar-bark of the maned wolf they use to signal to Afonso to cut the rope with a chainsaw. They heard the buzz of a chainsaw and the log plummeted and crushed the Trucgers. They would no longer be doing any harm to the Amazon Rainforest. Kiki and Redwood thanked Afonso again for all his help. They also said they would repay him in some way. Redwood told him that if he ever needed help then he could just make a howling noise. With that they left to do whatever a mother Maned wolf does when she is reunited with her son. Chapter 4: Trapped by a Sneaky Snare After a long trek back home, Afonso finally reached. It was Sunday and the time was 11am. He rushed in to find his parents. When they saw Afonso, they cried with joy and hugged him as they thought he was lost. After they calmed down the three of them sat on the dining table and ate lunch. During lunch he told his parents about his adventures. They were shocked, worried but extremly relived that their son was safe. Later that afternoon Afonso made changes to his diorama from what he learned this weekend. On Monday Afonso’s teacher asked him what he did on the weekend. Afonso told his teacher about the exciting adventures during his weekend. Everyone listened intently, their eyes wide in shock. By the end of his story all his classmates and his teacher were dumbfounded. The week quickly passed by and the weekend finally came. On Saturday, Afonso was taking a walk enjoing the morning breeze. After a while he got tired and he sat down under a tree, only to find himself victim to a snare trap! He saw Ulisses who had somehow not been crushed by the log that Redwood, Kiki, and himself had dropped on the Trucgers. Ulisses’s intention was to torture Afonso until he told him where Kiki and Redwood’s den was. Chapter 5: Help Arrives Afonso immediately started howling for help. After a while Ulisses realized that Afonso might be calling for help, so he shushed and gagged him. Afonso saw that Ulisses was underprepared, but it would take a lot more than 2 Maned Wolves to take him on. The rope etched marks on Afonso’s skin as it slowly tightened. Just as Afonso gave up hope of help arriving, he caught a glimpse of two red wolf-like figures in the underbrush. He recognized them as Redwood and Kiki. If not for Kiki’s long legs they would have never seen Afonso hanging to a rope that was tied around his waist or Ulisses who had a knife strapped to his belt. Kiki told Redwood this and he decided that he would call his friends to help them. Redwood and Kiki rushed of to find help. After they rounded up all of Redwood’s friends, he told them about Afonso’s situation. Redwood told them to run at Ulisses and keep on nipping his ankles while he stole a knife from Ulisses’s belt. Redwood’s friends followed accordingly while he stole the knife from Ulisses’s belt and passed it to Kiki who passed it to Afonso who cut himself free. Afonso tied Ulisses up with his own rope. Redwood, Kiki, and Redwood’s friends assisted by pinning Ulisses to the ground. It took the whole group’s effort to drag Ulisses to the nearest Police station where he was arrested. Afonso thanked Redwood, Kiki, and the others and bade them farwell.

The Mysterious Shell By Humisha Reddy PYP 4 A On a bright sunny day, Mia was on a holiday with her Family. They went on a beach vacation. As soon as she reached, she was so excited, and she ran towards the beach. She saw so many seashells, she saw a seashell and she noticed that it looks very different from the others, so she decided to take a close look at it and once she touched it took her into outer space. She started to panic and wonder if her parents are going to get worried and look for her. After some time, she closed her eyes and held the shell and she wished to be back where she was. At first, it did not work she kept on trying and trying but it did not work and Just when she was about to give up she made that wish one more time and after making that wish something weird started to happen and when she opened her eyes she was back where she was and she was so happy and she let go of the shell but before that she threw it far out into the ocean so that no one would ever touch it and go through so much trouble. After that, she decided to go play with her friends and have fun with them. They swam, played in the sand and they also played in the playground. After some time, they went back to the resort and had dinner and slept. The next week they went back home and she painted the shells and stuck them on a piece of cardboard paper to remind her about all of the fun things they did Just when she thought all of the crazy adventures were going to end it was just the beginning THE END

CHAPTER:3-THE ROCK After the the building team arrived jack demanded the team to demolish the rock because It was right next to the FIFA building and everyone was crowding around the rock so they were surrounding the building too. CHAPTER:5-SUPERPOWERS Next day while going to work he saw the crystal but…there random building teams destroying the crystal jack ran to stop them. Jack ran and met the leader of the building company and sed why are you destroying my crystal? The leader of the company told who said it was your crystal? And the said that it was a distraction to the whole city. But jack thought deeply and thought that it was technically in his building land so he ran back to the leader of that company and sed you have no rights to destroy something that is in my land! The leader agreed that it was only fair that he would leave the man’s crystal alone. CHAPTER:6-THE WAR The crystal was still remaining there and now he even thought that it was a distraction, so he thought lets break it and keep it somewhere safe so he called a company and told the company to destroy the crystal but it felt like it was glued with 20 bottles of glue to the floor. So jack finally got the crystal out of the floor and spend rest of the day filling the hole were the crystal was, and acting like nothing ever happened, but all the people who took pictures of the crystal noticed that the crystal was not there they all assumed that it was the company’s fault. So they crowded around the company’s building and made huge signs that said give the crystal back! But it was their property, But luckily security got them to get out of the building. They continued to use the well for special events like Birthdays and get togethers. She also took help of the librarian to offer some books for the school as donation. Soon there was a handbag shaped school in the village and all the children loved to be at the school. They called her “princess Mitness” and every one gave her the nickname “Mitty” She always had the perfect grades and perfect manners and queen Lily just adored her. And she always gives her homework on time to her teachers and they always tell king and queen that their daughter is such a good student and she always gets an A+ in her test and never cheats or fails. And she is very smart too. Every one likes Mitness so much and she is very popular and never lands in detention at all. But her little sister Jenna was a ill-mannered mermaid. She always has bad grades and bad manners and she is always one mean little child. Her homeworks are always late and she always bullies kids in school and lands in detention every now and then. During parent teacher meetings, she always gets the report that Jenna is a very bad student. She always gets an F- in her test an always cheats her teachers. And she is very mean too. No one at school or home likes Jenna. Because she is always blowing at her parents, relatives, neighbours, an teachers the every one loves Mitness more then Jenna. Queen Lily and King Edward were giving an amazing gift to Mitness. A white fluffy female puppy. For being responsible and achieving good marks in her test. “ I will name you fluffy” said Mitness Just beside to room’s entrance was the evil Jenna. She had been watching every thing from the past and followed her parents to see what they are up to. When she saw that her parents were giving the white female puppy to Mitness, she was furious. She immediately pounced on them like a wild cat. “ What makes you think that Mitness is so special?!” Asked Jenna in a stern voice. “ She is a lame mermaid, I’m the Queen mermaid here!!” said Jeena angrily. “ Don’t be rude and give respect to elders. We think Mitness is so kind and well mannered that we decided to give so many goodies. Now please out of this room you unkind girl.” Said king Edward angrily.

Jenna became more angry and started pulling king Edward’s hair! “ Where is my present?!” she shouted Queen Lily pulled Jenna away from there and kicked her outside Mitness’s room. What a witch!! “ I’m sorry Jenna but, i think I have to take all your goodies away” said king Edward. He and Queen Lily took all of her goodies away and when Jenna caught them doing that, she started to become very dangerous!! From now on king Edward and Queen Lily were no longer the King and Queen any more. It was Jenna!! Because of her parents and relatives adoring Mitness, she had to do something to teach them a lesson of what they did to her. And poor little Fluffy was getting too scared because of this! 10 days passed and Jenna had enough with it. Edward and Lily had to go to the market to buy some important things and Mitness had to stay at home to look after Fluffy and Jenna Lily told Jenna “ Jenna, I want your room to be clean and all your work to be done before me and Edward come back.” She said and they went to the market and slammed the door shut. Jenna thought it was enough. She threw her crown away and went to her room and started studying. When Edward and Lily were back, They were surprised! Jenna had changed a lot! And they finally got to see a nice and kind Jenna. And now every one started to adore Jenna also and her grades were no longer Fany more, it was an A+! Edward and Lily were back to be King and Queen. After many years passed, Malnimal grew jealous of his brother's abilities and started to read prophecies that turned him to the shadowy darkness of the dark side. He arrived at his kingdom and corrupted the mystical, powerful Elemental Crystal. The Crystal was able to withstand the corruption of the dark side of the Elements. But as that happened petrifying wormholes sucked the kingdom inside of the utter blackness. Eerie noises crept from the depths of the wreckaged city as a gleaming light waited to be discovered. Chapter 2: The heroes Just as gale winds blew across the desert, Aaron, an explorer rode on his pearl white horse with a mane that could have been seen across miles on the barren land. He was searching for an adventure that could be written in history. As he rode for miles, he came across a village suffering the heat. The desert once had a balanced heat temperature but for 100 years the heat has been unbalanced and people have started to gather a powerful, relentless disease called the life drencher. People think ever since the crystal was corrupted a tiny bit the elemental balance has started to alter. Aaron approached the burning village and felt sweat as salty as the ocean began to erupt outside his body. He absorved as a child got infected with an dreadful disease that was not willing to exit his evolving body. Aaron left the village entering the ice biome finding villagers being frozen by the intense cold that lay ahead of him. Aaron began to remember his father that he never knew. But then he met another explorer that was trying to find an adventure that will go into the pages of history. Aaron greeted him politely and asked him what his name was. His name was David and agreed to join Aaron on his mysterious quest. Aaron went deep into his brain scavenging for ideas for  what Quest they would go on. Then David said they would rescue the 4 brothers From the eerie shadow realm which acted as an eternal prison.Then Aaron said they would find the elemental crystal and defeat malnimal. 

Chapter 3: The Journey The adventuring duo set off on their Quest attempting to retrieve the one and only elemental crystal and stop Malnimal. They climbed aboard their horses and sprinted off into the lush, emerald green jungle that lay ahead of them.  When they entered the jungle they met a community filled with monkeys that could talk. They stepped inside the monkey community but just then a commander came and asked what they wanted to ask . David replied do you know of a city that is abandoned and has a flickering light inside of it. The tribe leader reluctantly agreed to tell them but he asked Aaron to help him defeat the jaguar tribe since they were destroying monkey homes and terrorizing innocent citizens. Aaron and David agreed and readied themselves for a bloody battle. As the sun began to set on the horizon Aaron raced along the jungle floor targeting himself towards the Jaguar base . At that time the long lost kingdom of Elementia was the Jaguar base and they had the Elemental Crystal without knowing. Chapter 4 : The battle The monkeys engaged into battle destroying each and every Jaguar they saw. The dreadful battle raged through the night and the monkeys won the war. Then the monkeys were overjoyed and returned to their base. Aaron replied to the monkey leader and said that they had found their abandoned city. The monkey leader replied that if Aaron needed any help in things they could call upon the monkey army to help. When the sun rose to the calls of feathery roosters  Aaron and David set off on their journey inside the city. They were petrified to see people turned into grey,lifeless stones that covered the human ‘s body. They were shocked to see that the human ‘s spirit was stuck inside of the shadow where malnimal ruled the people including the 4 other Elemental brothers. Aaron thought about being dark, gloomy, colourless and it would not be very comfortable to live and the beauty of the world will be lost forever. Then David screamed in happiness to find the elemental crystals home in the vault. Thenthey saw a torn note left on the ragged floor. It said… Chapter 5: The Shadow realm Dear Aaron/my son, I know you will come to rescue us from the shadow realm, so I give the code of the vault your name and you have the power of all the Elements. From Astor element of fire, the leader of the elemental brothers. Aaron was shocked to see that his father was the proud leader of the magnificent, legendary Elemental brothers. Now that Aaron had found this out, he was even more determined to rescue the Elemental brothers and defeat his cruel devilish uncle and stop him from his misery.  Aaron requested David to type Aaron in the keypad shown to open the vault opening a portal to the Shadow Realm where Minimal, his uncle, was located.  Just as he thought about that, the door of the rustic vault creaked open revealing the legendary Elemental Crystal. Chapter 6: The ultimate battle  Aaron got ready for the bloodiest battle that he had ever faced, as he stepped into the ink-black colourless world feeling determined to find his father in the shadow realm. Then in a flash of light, they saw the once marvellous scenic castle which now in its current state was corrupted, ink black, malevolent. Aaron thought this is the devilish place his father and his beloved uncles were trapped. So, Aaron and David entered the castle and saw the malevolent, violent, ruthless figure of his demon like uncle talking to his father trapped in chromicised cage hanging atop a pool of dark lava. Aaron met minimal and gripped his sword tightly while praying for good luck. Then in a flash of light, both charged towards minimal but minimal punched both ruthlessly and damaged them severely. Then Aaron felt a surge of energy flow through his body, and he awoke feeling overpowered. Then he raced towards his uncle shadowy figure and furiously said "I'm going to make you pay.” Next Aaron infuriatingly punched minimal with the power of the amazing elements striking minimal to the shadowy earth below. Then as the dusty smoke cleared away from the body of minimalities shadows were submerged by the scenic colours and the kingdom was reunited in its original form and Aaron met his proud, happy father grinning with glee. Well, we now know that our wonderful kingdom has been reunited with the jungle and the shadow realm has been destroyed, all is well in the Kingdom of Elementa. 

Polly and her dog  Sargun Grade 4 A Polly, a 12-year-old girl, loves all kinds of animals. But her favorites are and will always be dogs or puppies. She thinks they are cute. She lives in Miami, Florida, U.S.A. She goes to Seacoast Elementary School. She is in 7B, Ms. Christina’s class. Polly’s birthday is on the 17th of May. Her friends in her community are Zoe, Chloe, Violet, and Shreya.   Chapter 1:     Today was Polly’s first day of school. Things went well for her. She made friends with a lot of students including Myra, Sabrina, Hazel, Clary, Tracy, and all the kids in her class. Also, she found her frenemy (by the way, it is a friend + enemy): Lacey, she is such a show-off! She found that Ms. Christina is very nice! When she got back home, she was surprised to see her parents were nowhere to be found! After looking around, she went to her bedroom and saw a cupcake stand sitting there. Polly could not figure out why it was there. Soon out of nowhere, her parents popped up from behind the cupcake stand! Together her parents shouted, “You survived the first day of school!” Polly got so shocked! She said “Thanks” and her family sat down and asked, “What did you do today?” Polly grabbed a cupcake from the cupcake stand and explained what had happened today in school, and who she made friends with.     Chapter 2:    A few days later, Clary was having a sleepover with her friends and decided to invite Polly too. When Polly got the invitation, she was very excited! It was going to be on the 6th of May, and today was May 5th. Squeeeee! It’s tomorrow! After a very fun and relaxing spa sleepover, Polly was very glad she made friends with Clary! She is such a good friend and very funny too!   The next day was school again. In Art class, Polly drew a very nice abstract painting! Her teacher was so proud! Ms. Leah (her art teacher) put up her work on the board for everyone to see. The art class was so fun! When Polly got home she opened her laptop and checked Youtube. There she saw pictures and videos of cute dogs and cats! She showed them to her parents and explained to them a thousand things about dogs and cats. They smiled and just nodded. 

Chapter 3  On Monday after school, Polly decided to walk home with her mom. While walking they passed Fuzzy friends, an animal/pet store. Polly said “Can we get a dog? Her mom thought about it, and said “no”. Polly sighed and said sadly “can we at least see them?” Her mom thought again and said “ok”. They went inside the shop and saw so many cute animals wanting to be adopted. Almost all the animals were sold out! People probably got a lot of animals from here. Polly ran to the dog/puppy section and found such a cute dog! It was white, fluffy, and small and its breed was Shih Tzu. On its name tag, it said “you can name this dog”. She loved that dog! She wanted it so bad! Her mom was slowly walking towards her. Her mom saw what Polly was looking at and asked “Do you like that dog? Polly replied and her answer was yes. Her mom smiled just like the way she smiled on the day Polly had a sleepover with Clary.  Chapter 4    Once Polly got home, she lay down on the bed and thought about what had happened today. Why did her mom smile like the day she had a sleepover with Clary? Why do her parents only smile when she mentions dogs or puppies? And for some reason, a thought occurred to her: What are her parents giving for her birthday? It was in umm… Wednesday... Thursday .. oh wait! 2 days! How could she have forgotten her birthday? She ran downstairs and found her parents sitting on the couch probably not even thinking about her birthday! She told her parents “My birthday is in 2 days!” They said “We know” So Polly asked who we were inviting. Her parents said “ You decide, it’s your birthday, not ours. Make a list of people you want to invite and we will send the invitations by email. Polly ran back up the stairs and went into her room. She started her list... But then she got tired and thought that she would continue tomorrow.  Chapter 5    The next day at around 5 pm, Polly had finally finished her list of guests. There was Myra, Sabrina, Hazel, Clary, Tracy, Zoe, Chloe, Violet, and Shreya. Later she got everyone’s number and her mom sent the invites.

Soon everyone got the invite and replied, and good luck to Polly because all of them could come! Then she said to her parents,” What about the decorations, prizes, gifts, etc” Her parents said they will take care of all that stuff. Polly ran happily to her room and thought “This will be the best party she will ever have! What could go wrong? She was turning 13 and finally a teen! She wasn't a kid anymore! Her party was the day after tomorrow (she didn't want to celebrate on her actual birthday because on her actual birthday she wanted to spend time with her family).  Chapter 6 This was it! Polly’s birthday finally came! She dressed up in the nicest dress she had,  Got ready, and came downstairs. As soon as she got down the last step of the staircase, she saw so many decorations! When she got to the dining room, she found her parents at the dining table, a ginormous present box, and heard a noise coming from the table going like this. It was not her parents, they don’t make sounds like that. Anyway, Polly decided to ignore that noise because it was her birthday and she was not going to let some noise/sound scare her. As she was getting closer to the table, her parents saw her and shouted” Happy birthday!” She quickly said thank you and peered behind them. Her parents looked at what she was looking at and said, “Oh wait, we almost forgot your birthday gift!” They held the big box and handed it to Polly. Polly ran to the sofa and sat down, opening her gift. She again could hear the noise that didn’t scare her earlier (Haha). As soon as she opened the box, Ta-da! Wow! Something amazing was in that box!  Chapter 7    The PUPPY!!   Yay!! It was the same as she wanted so badly at Fuzzy Friends!!!! She could not believe her eyes and ran and hugged her parents for such a lovely and thoughtful gift. She decided to name the dog Scarce. The next day, she had a blast at her birthday party and got many amazing presents. It was the best birthday ever!!    The end

The Dinosaur By Reyansh Srivastava PYP 4 A Chapter 1: Something weird in the forest    Everyone is interested in dinosaurs, in fact, I have studied all dinosaurs and now also know most of their names. Try asking me questions about dinosaurs!   Now my dad is a person who studies animals and he always tell me what new majestic creature he sees every day.  Today my school announced that there will be no school since many people are on vacation.  As soon as I saw this I jumped from my chair and screamed “NOW IS MY CHANCE!”. I always wanted to go with my dad to the forest. I went down and pleased my dad till he finally let me come! We entered the forest when I saw something weird. It had sharp claws, enormous eyes, and a mouth filled with razor sharp teeth. I tugged my dad’s hand until I noticed what it was.  Velociraptor, RUN! I shrieked. My dad told me that dinosaurs are extinct, but as soon as he saw the dinosaur, he said long pause run! We managed to escape the forest and immediately called the government but of course, he did not believe us. How would we make him believe us? It was a huge consequence.    Chapter 2: Want or need?  Me and my dad went home and told mom what happened, we all discussed what to do until I said want or need? Get it? I'm talking to you, readers. We don’t need to tell the government; we can keep it as a little secret of ours. Oh yah, my parents signed, why did we not think of that earlier?   Next morning, we all went to the forest. Seeing the same velociraptor, we took position to run, but all of a sudden, the velociraptor looked sad. As we stopped the helicopter suddenly bounced on me and started to lick me. I understood, the whole time, it was just lonely! I gently patted the velociraptor, in my mind I also thought that I ought to stop calling the velociraptor and give it a name. I asked my parents about that, and they agreed. I then asked the velociraptor would you like the name Blaster? And then Blaster nodded.    Chapter 3:Me, famous!  It was fun having Blaster to be with me and did I ever tell you that I previously had a dog? Sadly, it died. But having Blaster was way better since sometimes I scare my friends! I just wonder how a dinosaur can adapt to this environment. I asked my parents about this, and they told me that legend says an unknown dinosaur was born as soon as the others of its type died and that dino would be friendly. It also said the person who finds this dino would be considered famous. We suddenly hopped into the car with Blaster and reached the government thirty minutes later and showed Blaster and told him about the legend. The government called a meeting with the state. Moments later everyone was aware about the legend, and they were cheering for us out loud. The government said sorry for not believing us and gave us an enormous trophy and we went home. When we reached home the trophy fell and…    The lid came open. A stunning 1000 dollars came out!!!! We are rich! I think we could improve the house since there is little less furniture than other houses, I said. Blaster roared. Oh yes, I forgot to tell that let’s get things for the dinosaur who made 1000 dollars just for us.  The End

My Favorite place to Vacation-is anywhere near the Ocean. By Nivedh Sai Reddy PYP 4 A I remember reading this quote a long time ago in a magazine. It was on the front page with a picture of beautiful sea and sand shores. I imagined traveling to this wonderful place with the cool sea breeze against my face. Finally, my dad and mom planned a trip to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands which I was waiting for a long time. I am writing this story about my most enjoyable trip with my family and friends and sharing my adventurous experiences in the vacation. CHAPTER1 ANDAMAN AND NICOBAR ISLANDS The Andaman and Nicobar Islands is a union territory of India at the junction of the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea. It comprises two island groups, the Andaman Islands and the Nicobar Islands. The territory's capital is the city of Port Blair. This is the basic research which my parents were talking about. I was excited to travel across the sea in a plane. We had to do a lot of packing. My mom was worried about the availability of medicines and food. So, she packed a few snacks and basic medicines for my sister and me. I was curious about the white sand beaches and the different types of shells I am going to collect. Our travel date was nearing and yes, we had to finally board the plane at the Bangalore international airport. It was a chilly morning, we left home along with my aunt's family. The flight duration was two and a half hours. It was my sister’s first time on a plane, she had fun. We planned this trip during monsoon season, it was cloudy and windy. Though the flight journey from Bangalore was smooth as we were about to reach Andaman Islands, the wind was high. The flight was wobbling, and I was too scared to look out of the window. My cousin was also terrified. The pilot couldn't land the flight on the first attempt. It took almost half an hour extra to touch down. We were all thanking God as we landed safe. CHAPTER 2 BIOLUMINOUS THINGS IN THE WATER!!! My cousin picked up a travel guide booklet at the airport. We had a guide and a taxi to take us around. The guide was a very friendly man. He gave us ladoo to welcome us. I was hungry after the scary flight journey. I had three and relaxed in the car on our way to the hotel. Our rooms at the hotel were in Port Blair, the capital of the Andaman Islands. Our first adventure was to go see the bio luminous organisms in the sea. Our guide took us at around 8pm to the backwaters of the Andaman Sea. It was a no moon night, so dark we could hardly see the water depth. There were a few kayaking boats at the dock. Trainers were there to teach us kayaking. It was my first time rowing a boat. As i was still a kid I had to join a trainer on a kayak boat. He did most of the rowing, I just gazed through the dark sea water to spot those illuminating creatures. We went past some bushy trees which the trainer explained as mangrove trees. Mangrove trees are huge, rooted trees in the backwaters. They have thick leaves.

They mainly help to hold the water during tsunamis. As we went rowing past the silent waters rowing in the dark, I finally saw tiny glowing dots in the water beneath our boat. It was an awesome experience. The guide asked me to put my hand gently in the water and all these glowing things came near my hand. It was magical. We came back to the room with a memory which will always remain in my mind forever. CHAPTER 3 “THE BEST WAY TO OBSERVE A FISH IS TO BECOME A FISH”- SCUBA DIVING I dared myself to go scuba diving. me, my mom, my cousin and aunt enrolled in scuba diving. I was too young to go deep diving, said the diving coach, so I chose shallow diving. I went diving because I would rather look back and say “I can't believe I did it” instead of “If only I had”. So first we had to fill up some forms as a rule before we started our training for scuba diving. we had a fifteen to twenty minutes training session in the backwaters. They gave us heavy oxygen cylinders and mouth masks and goggles. They taught us how to breathe underwater. Once we all could do it for ten to fifteen minutes continuously, they took us to the ocean on motorboats. We were all very nervous, as our boat stopped right in the middle of the sea. I was the first one to jump into the ocean. I had one trainer along with me all the time. I took a leap of faith and jumped into the sea with all the courage. My trainer guided me through the water. We went to a depth of 8 meters, it was so peaceful. All I could hear was me breathing and the water bubbling above my head. I saw so many different types of coral reefs. They were so beautiful. Then I saw cute nemo fish. We clicked some pictures in our diving suits. I came back to the surface of the sea and back to the boat. These twenty minutes of my dive in the sea was an amazing experience and i will always remember it. CONCLUSION ANDAMAN- EXPERIENCE A WHOLE A NEW WORLD The above lines were written when we landed in Andaman airport. I can say after my trip, it was truly a whole new world. I learnt a lot about the island, its culture, people(tribes), food, beaches. I enjoyed family time playing on the beach, swimming in the pool and walking on the sand shores. It was a memorable vacation and an adventurous story I wish to share with all of you.

Elements of Power By Tara Gabriel Kaitiaki PYP 4 A PYP 4 A Chapter 1 - The elements Pumpkin was a young and curious bunny. Sometimes too curious for her own good. She lived in a cozy little cabin with her grandmother in a beautiful meadow. There was a large tree to the right of their house, where Pumpkin’s friend squirrel, Pepper lived. Behind the tree was a long river. Pumpkin often sat on the lily pads for meditation. She closed her brilliant hazel eyes. Her soft off-white and light beige fur swayed gently along with the trees. Her delicate ears twitched slightly. She stuck her tiny bright pink nose in the air and sniffed. She opened her eyes and dashed to the cabin. For a few seconds all you could see was a pom-pom like tail following behind her. Once in the cabin she opened her eyes wide with excitement. She looked around but she saw nobody. She walked into the kitchen through the flap door. Her small, squishy padded paws softly patted the floor as she walked closer to the smell of fresh pumpkin pie. Her ears folded after gently hitting the door. She saw her grandmother readying the pie. Pumpkin lay down on her fluffy belly and curled in her stubby legs, making her look like a loaf with a bunny head. Granny turned around and adjusted her tiny light blue-ish-turquoise glasses. She untied her foodstained apron and hung it up with all the pots and pans above the yellow stove. “Hello young one.” She smiled. Pumpkin squeaked impatiently. “Now, now, you must be patient. The pie has to cool.” Granny said. “Now would you be a dear and bring me a few pumpkins from the pumpkin patch?” Pumpkin nodded and headed out to the garden. She fetched her granny 3 plump pumpkins. Granny placed one down on the cutting board with a loud thump. She sliced it open showing its vibrant orange insides. She then began to boil the cut pumpkin pieces. “Pumpkin dear, why don’t you make yourself useful and help stir the soup?” she said. She then went to go ice the pie with whipped cream. Pumpkin drew up a stool and hopped on top. She stirred the soup with a large wooden spoon. The soup bubbled and steamed. Pumpkin and her granny were having pumpkin soup for supper and pumpkin pie for dessert. They slurped their soup and gobbled their pie, Then popped off to bed in a lovely warm quilt.

At around midnight, Pumpkin woke to a piercing pain in her fluffy chest. She tried to ignore the pain but she couldn’t. She slowly opened her eyes and sat up. She saw 4 transparent figures crowded around her bed. A cat outlined in red, a dolphin outlined in blue, a dove outlined in white and a deer outlined in green. “She’s awake!” Whispered the deer. “We can see that.” The cat whispered in an annoyed voice. “Do you think she can see us?” Asked the dove. “Seeing that she’s staring right at us, probably.” The cat said smugly. There was a moment of silence. “Look! She still has her amulet!” The dolphin said. “Who are you?” Pumpkin finally said. “We are the elemental spirits.” Explained the dove. “The cat is the fire spirit.” The cat tilted its head and grinned showing its fangs. “She’s Scarlett.” The dove continued. “The dolphin is Layla, the water spirit.” Layla smiled politely. “She’s Daisy, the earth spirit.” The dove said, pointing to the deer who was hopping about happily and not paying attention. “And I’m Iris, the wind spirit.” The dove bowed slightly. “Ok, and what were you saying about my necklace?” Pumpkin asked, esturing to her amulet. “Well, there's an evil spirit in a dangerous forest who stole our elemental amulets. Our amulets hold all our magic and power.” Daisy said. “Without our amulets, the balance of peace is destroyed and the darkness with takeover if we don't find them immediately.” Said Layla. “I’m not magical, why do I have an amulet?” Pumpkin asked. “You are magic. You’re the fifth spirit. The love spirit. Your grandmother used to be the love spirit, along with our grandmothers who passed down their roles to us as your grandmother did as well.” Layla said. “The love spirit is the most important of all. Only you can fix this, only you can find our amulets, only you can restore peace.” Iris said. “I know it’s a lot of pressure, but the world is counting on you.” “Wait, if all of your amulets were stolen, why do I still have mine?” Pumpkin asked. “We’ve been protecting you every night. You’re only safe in the morning, the darkness can only come out at night. If it comes into light its soul would burn.” Daisy said. “Can we ask you a favor since we’ve been protecting you all these nights?” Iris asked. “And what would that be?” Pumpkin tilted her head in confusion. “Can you get our amulets back?” Iris said hopefully. You could see the faith in her eyes. There was another moment of silence. Then, Pumpkin nodded. “Thank you so much! We will provide you with all the information and materials you would ever need!” Iris smiled gratefully. Chapter 2 - Fire and fury “Let’s start with the amulet that was hidden the laziest. Fire.” Iris said. “That will be a good warm up.” Iris gave Pumpkin a scroll. “We stole this map from the evil empress, Agatha. She is the evil spirit that hid our amulets.” Iris said. “The map will show you everything you need to know from the booby-traps to the evil sorceress herself.” Layla explained. “I see. What about gear? You said the forest was dangerous.” Pumpkin asked. “All you’ll need is a crucifix. Point it at the demon and it will vanish.” Scarlett said. “Where would I find that?” Pumpkin asked. Scarlett sighed. “Just follow me and I’ll get you everything you need.” Scarlett took Pumpkin out to a hidden warehouse that was behind her cabin. Scarlett swung the door open wide with a loud creak. Everything was moldy and dusty and there were cobwebs everywhere! Scarlett lead Pumpkin inside. “Here it is. This is where we hide out in the mornings. It has all the tools we use. The place is hundreds of years old, its belonged to all our ancestors.

The place has been around for decades. It was built by the first generation of elemental spirits, so it’s kind of a legacy.” Scarlett explained as she walked further in. “I don’t want to break anything if it’s a legacy. It’s so old, everything must be so fragile if it’s been around for that long.” Pumpkin said worriedly. “Well if you don’t want to break anything just don’t touch anything. It’s that easy.” Scarlett rolled her eyes. She approached a slanted shelf. One of the screws that was holding the other side up had gotten loose and fallen out. On the shelf lay a black Jesus’s cross and a pendant with a ghost jewel on it. “Use the cross to ward away danger and when you find an amulet, wear it over the pendant. The pendant will hold the amulets inside of it so that they will not be stolen.” Scarlett explained. “But what if someone steals the pendant?” Pumpkin asked. “Well once you put the pendant on, you cannot take it off unless you put either your, Iris’s, Daisy’s, Layla’s or my paw-print on it and remove it within the next 5 seconds. To remove something from the pendant just chant its name 3 times after unlocking it. Easy peasy.” Scarlett answered. “You can store anything in the pendant. So, if you don’t want to hold anything you can just keep everything inside. But I recommend holding the cross so you can get away from danger as soon as possible.” “Is there anything else I’ll need?” Pumpkin asked. “Well, you will need a summoning circle to summon our spirits when you need help. But this can be made using mud, leaves, branches, insects, liquid, anything really.” Scarlett said. “But I don’t know how to use a summoning circle.” Pumpkin panicked. “All you need to do is draw a circle with a star inside it, put a light source directly on top of it, then close your eyes and chant the name of the spirit you want to summon until it appears. You can remember that right? “Said Scarlett. “OK…I’m just really nervous. Are you sure you have your facts straight?” Pumpkin said. “Of course! Do you think we’re just sending you on an extremely dangerous mission with our points as beliefs from urban legends? We’ve studied these things for decades in case a situation like this ever rose.I’m actually a bit offended you think we can’t handle this.” Scarlett scoffed. “Now you must go. We can’t keep wasting time like this when darkness is slowly reeking upon planet Earth.” The spirits took Pumpkin to the forest. At the edge of the forest they all said their goodbyes. “Summon us if you need anything.” Layla said. “Use the cross when needed.” Scarlett reassured. “I’m scared.” Pumpkin cried. “Don’t be! You can summon us whenever you need to. You won’t be alone in this.” Daisy said comfortingly. “We’ll always be there if you need us.” Iris said. Pumpkin smiled. “Now go get those amulets superstar! I know you can do this! You’re the bravest person I’ve ever met! If anyone can do this, you can!” Layla said. “Good luck!” The elements all yelled together as Pumpkin entered the forest. Even though it was already morning the sky was dark. The forest was so gloomy and dull. Nothing had any color. Pumpkin was already nervous. She quivered with fear. Her stomach was twisted and felt like it had been tied into a knot. Her legs, arms and hands were all shaky. Her knees and elbows were all knobbly and wobbly. Her eyes couldn’t focus on a single thing. She was all over the place. She felt at any minute she could burst into tears. She had to keep an eye on the path she was taking and the map as well. She felt so pressured. Iris’s words kept revisiting her brain. “The world is counting on you…” When this happened, she would just shake her head and think happy thoughts. Several times during her journey she would randomly burst into song. After a while her limbs started to feel numb from all the walking. She wished someone would carry her. Nothing bad happened to her on her way to the temple. This made her think that maybe the spirits were wrong about the forest. It also made her a little suspicious, but she didn’t think too much of it. Then finally, after what felt like years of hiking, Pumpkin had reached the temple. It was very large. It was made of dried sand, dried mud, rocks, and terra cotta. Now of course this temple was very old, meaning there were many chips, cracks, stains etc on it, but it was very beautiful.

It had hand carved Tiki faces, markings and various other designs on it. In the corner was a half carved half stone passcode system, and in the top corners were some sort of tube-like things that were connected to the inside of the temple. The tubes faced downward and toward the passcode. Pumpkin was unsure what they were for but she just ignored them. Pumpkin stepped toward the passcode. It was a carved box with many small stones placed in the grooves and held together using mud. There were symbols of some sort on each stone. Upon closer inspection, Pumpkin realized that they were Roman letters. There must have been some sort of system inside the walls to make it usable. Right away, Pumpkin had an idea of what the password could be. She entered it slowly. Nothing happened. Then suddenly an arrow shot down very close to Pumpkin’s paw. Startled, she quickly backed away. Then a ton of arrows shot into place. She slowly approached the passcode again. She put her paw on the ghost pendant and chanted map 3 times. The map appeared in her front paws. She unfolded the scroll and read what it said in the corner for fire. Caesar, one of the Roman kings. The door slid open, it was scratching against the walls. Feeling accomplished, Pumpkin waltzed in through the door. Inside the temple, it wasn’t really that big. Terracotta and stone tiles lined the walls. The dry mud floor scratched against Pumpkin’s paws. In the middle of the room was a dried sand pedestal. And on the pedestal lay the amulet of fire. It had a majestic gold rim and a beautiful red crystal inside the cover. There didn’t seem to be any further booby-traps, so Pumpkin went ahead and grabbed it. Then she heard the doors beginning to close. She quickly ran out of the temple. She ran so fast that when she tried to stop herself she tumbled to the ground. She nudged her face against the soft grass. She was out of breath. She clapped her paws and both the map and the fire amulet vanished. The ghost pendant shimmered slightly then went back to normal. Chapter 3 - Water and waves The next day, Pumpkin found a sunlit area. She pulled a few leaves off of the branches of the giant Banyan tree where she had set up her camp. She then arranged the leaves into a summoning circle and sat in front of it. She closed her eyes and chanted Layla 7 times. After that Layla appeared. “Pumpkin! What amulets have you found so far?” She asked. “Just fire.” Pumpkin said. “I’m doing yours next.” “Ah, I see.” Layla said. She sat down with Pumpkin. “Well, my amulet lay in the lake. It’s actually quite nearby.” “Oh, ok. Thank you.” Pumpkin said. “It’s nothing.” Layla smiled. And then she vanished. Pumpkin put all the leaves in her pendant for her next summoning. She then headed to the lake. The lake was large and vast. The water seemed dark and gloomy. She got a terrible feeling that there was something lurking inside of it. She tried to shake the feeling but she just couldn’t. But, besides that she knew she had a job to do and she wasn’t going anywhere until she completed it. There was a small piece of land in the middle of the lake. On that piece of land lay the water amulet. It seemed too easy. Nevertheless, Pumpkin took a deep breath and SPLASH! In she went. The water was cool and refreshing on such a hot day. All the kicking started to make Pumpkin tired. She grabbed onto the land gasping for breath. She took the amulet in her paw.The amulet had a beautiful gold rim and a stunning blue crystal inside its cover. But was it really that easy? No. It couldn’t be. Then suddenly, a whirlpool began to form. And out of the water a giant sea serpent leapt into the air. It was almost like a Chinese dragon except instead of red and yellow it was blue and white. It let out a large bellowing roar. Then it fell back into the water. Pumpkin screamed at the top of her lungs and began to swim as fast as she could.

She was so scared that she lost her grip and dropped the amulet. She dove deep into the water and snatched it as quick as she could. The sea serpent had almost caught her back paws at this moment. Pumpkin dashed up and latched onto the grass. She hopped up and backed away slowly. The sea serpent jumped up and roared again before finally leaving Pumpkin alone. Pumpkin sighed with relief, still panting. She then clapped her paws together and the amulet got sucked into her pendant. She retreated back to her camp after shaking away all the water that had gotten soaked into her fur. She sat under the tree eating some strawberries and drinking water. Soon after she took a nice long rest, for she had to get a lot of sleep to retrieve the last 2 amulets. All she dreamt about was how this crazy journey was almost over. It was a good experience for her though, she learned to step out of her comfort zone. Chapter 4 - Whimsical wind Pumpkin was sleeping peacefully, all cozied up in the warm quilt blanket and pillows she had taken from her cabin. The giant Banyan tree she was sleeping under gently swayed in the wind. A few leaves fell onto Pumpkin’s head. The birds chirped merrily as they sang beautiful melodies. 2 young rabbits who were playing with each other scampered by. One was quite a bit smaller than the other, this one was white. The other one was brown. A big gray mother rabbit walked by as well. She stopped to sniff the flowers. She chuckled slightly as a large pink butterfly landed on the white baby bunny’s nose. Pumpkin still lay in the warm and soft grass that acted like a mattress, while being smothered by blankets, pillows, leaves and flowers. A cyan Sylphina Angel butterfly landed gently on her nose. Her nose twitched and the butterfly flew away. It was such a peaceful day. But then something happened. The bunnies ran away. Something had scared them off. Pumpkin didn’t notice this, she was fast asleep. The flowers began to lose color, and then slowly drooped downward. The petals closed in, the grass began to turn very dull. Everything slowly started to lose color and die off. A dark liquid-like shadow began to creep up Pumpkin’s blanket. It touched her face and began to ooze down her ears. It felt slimy and cold. Pumpkin immediately jolted awake. She kicked at the shadowy substance off her legs and ran into the sunlight. The shadow followed her into the sunlit area and then vanished. This was the darkness the elements had been talking about. She had to find a way to stop this. She put her paw on the ghost pendant and chanted for the leaf summoning circle she had made 3 times. It popped up right in front of her. She sat down and closed her eyes. She chanted Iris 10 times. The figure of a white dove appeared in front of her. “I see you’re doing my amulet now. What amulets have you collected so far?” Iris said. “I have water and fire with me.” Pumpkin nodded. “Only 2 more to go! Good job. Now these last 2 won’t be as easy-going as the water and fire amulets. As you may have noticed this morning, the darkness has found you.” Iris said. “What do you mean by that?” Pumpkin asked. “Well you see…The evil empress has found out that you are getting all the amulets back. So in an attempt to stop you, she sent out shadows to collect you and bring you to her. That didn’t work because you went into the sun, meaning that the shadow was burned.” Iris explained. “Anyway, my amulet should be on top of some sort of hill. However, there is a thunderstorm coming up.

The rain will be very heavy and there will be lots of lightning. Lightning will hit higher points of land, such as the hill my amulet is on. You will be able to seek shelter under that Banyan tree behind you.” “Okay, thank you for telling me. I must go now.” Pumpkin said. “Good luck! You’ll need it!” Iris smiled before vanishing. Pumpkin clapped her paws and the summoning circle got sucked into her ghost pendant. She headed to the hill on the far side of the lake where she had gotten the water amulet. She began to climb the hill. This was easy, until that thunderstorm Iris had been talking about came around. The rain poured heavily, making the mud all slippery. Pumpkin slid down several times but eventually she made it to the top. She was all wet and cold, this gave her flashbacks to the sea serpent she had faced to get the water amulet. She grabbed the wind amulet in her hand. It had a shiny light weight silver rim and a glossy, airy and astonishing almost white silver crystal inside. A stroke of lightning jutted down from the sky. The sky darkened with the storm clouds. Lightning was shooting everywhere. Pumpkin danced around the hill to avoid being struck by lightning. Everything was intense. She tumbled down the other side of the hill and onto the wet grass. She was so cold and so tired. She could barely move. Lightning was still falling down along with rain. Pumpkin rolled from side to side to stay away from the lightning. Occasionally she would have to do the splits. The thunderstorm began to calm down. The pouring rain turned into a slight drizzle. Everything became sunny again. Still cold and wet, Pumpkin clapped her paws together and the wind amulet got sucked into the pendant. The ghost shimmered slightly then turned back to normal. Pumpkin shook away all the water from her fur and then walked back to the Banyan tree. She rolled up in her blanket, finally warm again and then peacefully dozed off to sleep. Chapter 5 - Enchanted earth Pumpkin took a nice week long break from finding amulets. But when she woke up after her nap, everything was dark and dull. There was no longer any color. All the plants were dead. This was terrible. She had taken too long of a break. The darkness had taken over! But not quite, there was still one spot where there was sunlight and color and happiness. All the animals were crowded over there. Pumpkin put her paw on her pendant and chanted for her leaf summoning circle. It appeared in front of her. She sat down, closed her eyes and chanted Daisy 34 times. Daisy appeared, but her projection was glitching. “Pumpkin! Quickly! We don’t have much time! The darkness has almost taken over completely! If you find the last amulet and return them to us then peace will finally be restored! My amulet is hidden in a giant oak tree but beware of-” Then Daisy’s connection cut off. The leaves from the summoning circle blew out of place. Things were getting out of hand. Pumpkin spent hours searching every tree, but she found nothing. There was one tree left, Pumpkin was avoiding this tree because it had 2 tigers standing in front of it. Pumpkin crept around the back and climbed the tree. She found the amulet fairly easily. It had a beautiful golden rim with vines all around it and inside a beautiful shining green crystal. The tree shook. Pumpkin looked down. The tigers were trying to climb the tree! They scratched and clawed at the bark, they even bit out small parts of the trunk! They pierced their claws inside the tree and climbed up slowly. Pumpkin was scared, she didn’t know what to do. She couldn’t jump down, they were too close to the ground. They would just run after her. She couldn’t outrun a tiger, forget 2! But if she let them get too close they could claw her out of the tree. They certainly had long arms. So Pumpkin hopped too higher and higher branches till she was at the very top. She had to jump, she had no other choice. She gathered up all her courage,and WOOSH! She flew through the leaves and dropped onto the grass.

The tigers took a moment to realize she wasn’t in the tree. They jumped down as well, but Pumpkin had gotten a head start! Chapter 6 - Peace Pumpkin raced through the forest, the tigers following behind her. Then, the worst thing happened. A drone demon from above picked up Pumpkin and flew to the evil empress. Pumpkin didn’t have enough time to get out her cross. She couldn’t repel the demon quick enough. It dropped her in a large room. Purple and black checkerboard tiles lined the walls. Pumpkin’s paws brushed against the smooth black marble flooring. There were chests filled with treasure in one corner and all sorts of animal skulls in the other. In the middle of the room were a few steps and a purple leather throne on top. On the throne was a black cat with big blue eyes. The cat wore a crown made of all sorts of different colorful and rare crystals. “Well well well…” The cat had a wicked, serious, sinister and sincere voice. “You must be Pumpkin. The elemental’s associate or rather, servant.” “I’m the fifth spirit! I’m no servant.” Pumpkin said. “Ah, you’re so blind young one. Can’t you see? They’re using you. Once they have their amulets back they’ll forget you. Not even a thank you will be given. They’ll betray you…” The cat leaned in closer. “I’m Agatha. The empress of evil. You could forget about those useless little creatures and work for me. Give me the amulets and I’ll give you everything you’ve ever wanted.” “Never! You just want the power!” Pumpkin yelled. “Everyone thinks I am greedy, just doing things for power and fame. Well, they’re wrong. I have a good reason.” “Well, those people are right! You want power over everybody, your ‘good reason’ isn’t enough for the amount you have done.” Pumpkin said angrily. “You’ll never get away with this!” “Oh please, like anyone will listen to you.” Agatha scoffed. “I only want the power so I can give my daughter her power back. She used to have an amulet of her own. The elemental spirits took it from her because she used it to do terrible things to the world.” “Well, I can explain to the spirits why you did it and get back the amulet for you as long as you don’t do any evil yourself.” Pumpkin said. “And how do I know I can trust you?” Agatha raised her head high. “I promise, you can trust me.” Pumpkin smiled. “Okay…But if you break your promise, I will hunt you down and kill you with my bare paws.” Agatha snarled. “Release the foul creature.” A demon picked up Pumpkin and carried her to the edge of the forest. The spirits were waiting there. Before they said anything to Pumpkin, they called out to the demon. It turned around and wobbled. Iris held out her wing. And there lay an amulet with a shiny silver rim and a pretty purple crystal inside. “Give this to your master.” She said, the demon nodded and picked it up. Then it set off. “How did you know?” Pumpkin asked. “We’ve been watching over you since you first set off.” Layla answered. Pumpkin smiled. She put her paw on her pendant and chanted the names of each amulet 3 times. Each spirit wore their respective amulet. Wind gushed through everything and everything was fixed. Pumpkin’s grandmother came too. “Hello dear, I am so proud of you.” She smiled as she hugged Pumpkin tight. Pumpkin, her grandma and all the spirits stood together and took a group photo. Peace was restored……

Harry McDonald and Mr. Octopus By Marie A Christina PYP 4 A Chapter 1 Lily Clearwater Once upon a time there lived a small boy named Harry McDonald. His aunt and uncle used to visit him. But they treated him badly. All though his mother and father were always away they did not see this. One day his aunt said to him,” today you could go outside to play but you should come back in half an hour”. McDonald was surprised to hear this. He was never allowed to play outside since his aunt and uncle came. When he came outside, he saw kids playing cheerfully. Then he felt someone tap on his shoulder. A girl was standing nearby. “Hi said the girl “My name is Lily Clearwater” and” what’s yours “she added. “My name is Harry McDonald” he said looking startled. This is the first time someone had asked his name. “You can call me Lily” she said. The next day was Saturday, his favorite day. His parents have day off on Saturdays. His mother said he could go for a picnic with his new friend. She packed two bags for McDonald and Lily. “Thanks mom” McDonald said and hurried off to Lily’s house. She was so busy that she had no time for picnics, but she said she’d come with him. So, they set off in the evening to a grassy hill where the Sun sets. Soon they were on the top of the hill. McDonald and Lily were talking when they heard a sound like if something was under the hill. It started shaking the hill that all of their food tumbled and fell down. He checked his bag that can get rid of the thing that is beneath the hill. He found his penknife. “This is great. We only have a pen knife and whatever is down there it is going to kill us” he said. Suddenly there came a tentacle behind Lily. McDonald quickly grabbed his pen knife but it was too late. It had already grabbed her. Chapter 2 The unexcepted thing There came a big Octopus from under the ground.” Ha Ha at last, I have found you”. It spoke. McDonald started to shiver. “I am Octs the god of evil “, said the Octopus. “How did it find me “, he thought. “Unfortunately, I have been transformed into an Octopus, “it said. “And at last, I can kill you!” “Now what?” said McDonald.” We are in big trouble. Let’s get out of here”. Octs started to chase them, “Run” said McDonald, holding Lily’s arm. They started to run down the hill. Many villagers who were saw this dropped their bags, and started to run in horror. They raced past the village, the hills and the fields till they reached a cabin. There was a young woman who lived there. Her name was Sita. She saw them and let them inside. After having some hot tea, they told the woman the whole story. The woman, however was relaxed “don’t worry “she said” You’ll be safe in my cabin”

Chapter 3 A desperate run “What are we going to do, “cried Lily. “The Octopus is going to come and kill us”. “Don’t worry, my children,” said Sita. “Octs won’t come here “. “He won’t rest till he kills us,” said McDonald.” I have an idea” Sita said. “We will climb up the hills and wait till the Sun sets. Then we will hide in a cave which is near the river. Before Octs comes we will find the way out of the cave on the other side.” “That’s a good idea “Lily said. “Yeah. Let’s do it then “McDonald said. So, they set off towards the cave. Sita led them towards the path out of the cave. Then finally the Sun set on the west. “I’m hungry “said McDonald while clearing a tunnel in the cave. Chapter 4 The Pot While clearing the tunnel McDonald hit something hard.” What is that” McDonald thought. “Maybe rock or remains of dinosaurs “he imagined. Then he started clearing all the debris around that place. But this time it made a metal sound when he used his pen knife to clear. It went on like that every time he used his penknife. “Hey, there’s something in here” he said. He could see glittering gold in the sand. After some work with his pen knife, he found a golden Pot. “Did you find something McDonald “Lily asked from behind. “Yes “he said. He turned the and showed them the pot. Both of them were surprised. “But I don’t know why it is buried here,” said McDonald. “It’s a signal “Sita said.” For what” asked McDonald. “For Octs to find us”, Sita said. “Come, Let’s Jump in to the tunnel “ And so, they went to the tunnel which McDonald made and to their surprise it took long to reach the end. Chapter 5 Lily in danger

“It’s the end “said Sita after reaching a safe place. It was the palace of Octs which they did not know. His evil guards were searching for them. Suddenly they heard a screaming noise. “What was that?” McDonald asked. He looked back,” Where is Lily?” “” Hide “Sita hushed to McDonald. They hid in a bush nearby. The soldiers came searching for them. “We have found the girl”” But where is the boy?”. The soldiers were talking among them. “I don’t know yet. We will find him” “Let’s take the girl to the prison”. Hearing them “Oh no “McDonald said. “What shall we do? They have taken Lily” “Let’s make a plan, “said Sita. Meanwhile Octs returned to his palace from the hill. His guards had kidnapped Lily. But McDonald and Sita had already hid near the prison where Lily was kept. Lily was made to sleep by the guards so that she won’t shout and cry for help. After her sleep she woke up to find herself in prison. “ Where am I “she cried. Just then McDonald from the corner of the prison said “You are in big trouble and was kidnapped by Octs”. Lily asked for help. McDonald managed to open the prison door and with the help of Sita they fled towards the end of the cave. At last, they reached the hills. “Now let’s go back home, “said McDonald. “I have one thing to tell you” Sita Said “What” asked McDonald. “I am your god mother” Chapter 6 The Silver portal. They walked towards home in the dark under the moon light. On the way they heard familiar sound. “What was that’” Sita asked. Shivering from fear Lily said “it’s Octs”. “Octs? No way! How did he find us” McDonald exclaimed.

enly Octs came and rose with his tentacles. “Ha You won’t escape now “roared Octs. McDonald checked his pocket, but his penknife was not there. He looked back and found a portal looking like a silver mirror. In a flash all three of them jumped in the portal and reached Sita ‘s cabin. Octs was left stranded in the hill and went to his palace after sometime. “ How extraordinary, “said Sita. Then they all had supper at her cabin. Early next morning McDonald and Lily went home. Chapter 7 Home again The next day a letter from McDonald arrived for Lily with a parcel. Lily was overjoyed. She opened the envelope and it read: Dean Lily, I wish you a good day. Tomorrow, I will be shifting to Canada. But I will come back next year. Wish you good luck again. Also, I am sharing the gold coins with you which we found yesterday. Please find them in the parcel. Sincerely, Harry Mc Donald. Lily was sad and came to know that McDonald had shared gold coins with Sita too. She was very happy to have a friend like McDonald. All three are waiting for the next adventure.
