Mr and Mrs Thapa lived near a town. They lived in a house which was very
old. A river flew nearby. This old house had
dull yellow walls, and dull yellow doors and
dull yellow windows. The doors and windows
had dull grey curtains. But Mr and Mrs
Thapa were very happy here. They loved
their old house.
One day Mr and Mrs Thapa got invitation
from Mr and Mrs Rai for dinner at their house. Mr and Mrs Thapa came to Mr
and Mrs Rai`s house. Mr Rai`s house was small but beautifully decorated. It
had red walls and bright green doors. The windows were also bright green.
There were yellow curtains. There was a small garden in front of the house.
The garden had green grass and colorful flowers.
When Mr and Mrs Thapa came back home they said, “our house is very dull.
Let us sell this house and buy another pretty house”.
So they put up a board in front of their home, “House for Sale”.
One day Mr Verma was passing through the way. He saw the board “House
for Sale”. He wanted to buy a house. When he looked at the house, he said.

“No I can't buy this home. This house is too yellow for me. I like a red house”.
And he went away. Mr Thapa heard this. He said to his wife, “Let's paint the
house red. Maybe some one will buy it then”.
So Mr Thapa got the house painted a bright red.
Another day, Mr Gurung came to the house. He also wanted to buy the
house. But he said “I like a house with bright green doors and windows and
bright yellow curtains on them”. Then he went away.
Mr Thapa got the doors and windows painted bright green. He arranged
bright yellow curtains on them.
One day Mr and Mrs Tamang came to see
the house. They wanted to buy a house.
They liked the outside beauty of the house.
“But it is too dark and grey inside”, they said
and went away. Mr Thapa heard this. He
said to his wife, “Mr Tamang is right. Our
house is too dark and grey from inside”.
Then he got some inside walls of the house painted sky blue and some pink. After
some time a young man and his wife came to buy this house. “This is a pretty
house”, said the young man. His wife said, “but I want a house with a beautiful
garden”. And they also went away.
Mr and Mrs Thapa began to work on the garden. Soon they were able to
make a beautiful garden with many colourful– red, green, yellow, pink and
blue flowers.
“Now someone will surely buy this house”, Mr Thapa said.
“And we will be able to buy the house we want”, said Mrs Thapa.
Suddenly Mr Thapa looked at his house. “What kind of house do we want? he
said.
“We want a pretty house”, said Mrs Thapa. “Painted bright red outside and
blue or pink inside?”, asked Mr Thapa.
“Oh yes!”, answered MrsThapa. “And with a little garden in front of it.”
“Yes, yes!”, said Mr Thapa. Mrs Thapa laughed. She said, “Look at our
house. Isn't it a pretty house? Just as we want!” Scan Here

He came running to his palace. He touched the walls. He touched the table,
chair and the bed. They also turned into gold.
Now he felt hungry. The food was brought.
But the moment he touched food with his
hand, the food turned into gold and became
hard. He was unable to eat. Then he tried to
drink water. But alas! The water also turned
into gold when he touched it.
His little daughter was looking for him. She
came running and sat on his lap. But the
moment she sat on his lap, she also turned into gold. King Midas was now
very sad. He started weeping. Now he did not want his golden touch. He
wanted his daughter. He wanted food and water. He prayed to God to forgive
him and requested him to take away the gift.
God forgave him, “Go and take bath in the special river. You will become
normal”, God said.
King Midas went and took a dip into water.
He was cured of the golden touch. He took
water and sprinkled it on his daughter. He
also sprinkled it on everything which he
had touched. His daughter and all other
things became normal. King Midas once
again became the happiest person on the earth, but with a difference.
