All Employees
ROM: AFC Basketball Concessions Committee
ATE: September 10, 2019
It’s that time of year again! Time to choose the Chipola basketball game your staff would like to serve in the AFC
concession stand! This is a great team building opportunity for our Chipola departments and a wonderful way to give back
to our employees and their children through the AFC Scholarship Fund.
The 2019‐2020 Basketball Schedule can be accessed from the Shares/Concessions Schedule folder or by clicking on this
link. Currently, there are 10 days/nights of Chipola fall schedule games and 6 nights of conference games that need to be
covered. Some tournament nights include two shifts so workers will not have to work extremely long periods of time. If
possible we ask that each department volunteer for an entire night, and then assign their workers to different shifts as
needed. Scheduling is done on a first come – first served basis, so let us know quickly which date you want to work!
Working in the AFC Concession Stand requires no previous training! All procedures and “recipes” are posted for easy
use. If you decide to use your staff in shifts you should remember the following:
1. The first shift of workers should choose one captain that will be responsible for picking up the money box and being at the
concession stand at least 30 minutes before game time to open up.
2. The concession stand window should open no later than game time (7 p.m., not 7:15 or 7:30). Earlier is better!
3. Concurrent shifts are scheduled to come in 15 minutes before the last shift leaves to receive any instructions and to make
sure the workers that have been there will be able to leave on time.
4. The last shift of workers should also chose two people who will be responsible for counting the money and seeing
that the Business Office receives the money box and the change fund back by 9 a.m. the next workday and that MATT
WHITE (AFC Treasurer) receives the profit funds by 9 a.m. the next workday.

AFC SCHOLARSHIP AWARD AND
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
The Chipola College AFC Chapter will offer, annually, scholarships to qualified degree or
certificate-seeking students. This scholarship is available for a maximum of four semesters for
students who maintain the Eligibility Criteria. The amount of the yearly scholarship will be equal
to the total amount of available funds divided by the number of qualified, First Priority
applicants. The yearly scholarship per student will not exceed $2000 for First Priority applicants.
If funds are then available, yearly scholarships will be made available to Chapter Members who
are part-time students. The amount of the yearly scholarship will be determined by the amount of
available money remaining after the awarding of the First Priority scholarships, divided by the
number of qualified, Second Priority applicants. Awards are not to exceed $700 per year. Part-
time student awards will be made in priority order: (a) $200 maximum for books and fees for
Chapter Members taking a course under the Chipola fee waiver policy, (b) $300 maximum for
Chapter Members taking a course not covered by the fee waiver, and (c) $200 maximum for
books and fees for a course not covered by the fee waiver.
If funds are then available, yearly scholarships will be made available to Third, then Fourth, and
finally Fifth Priority applicants. Available remaining money will be divided by the number of
qualified applicants at each level of priority.
Each year’s award will be for tuition, books, and fees. Recipients must be enrolled in an

AFC EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING MINUTES
August 14, 2019 – 1:00 p.m.
Members Present:
Evelyn Ward Dennis Everett
Rachel West Paige Vanderwerf
Terolyn Lay Stephanie Ward
MacKenzie Johnson Matt White
Vikki Milton Kristie Mosley
Lillie Hamil Pat Barfield
The AFC Executive Board met for an organizational meeting on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at 1:00
pm in Building Z, Room 106. President Evelyn Ward called the meeting to order and thanked everyone
for attending.
Open Positions. Several positions are open on the Executive Board at this time. Pat Barfield has agreed
to be the Chapter Secretary. It was decided to combine the Luncheon and Social Committees giving that
committee four co-chairs – Vikki Milton, Kristie Mosley, Kelly Lanier, and Angie White. Positions still
open are: President-Elect, Fundraising, and Scholarships.
Treasurer’s Report
Matt White reported that the balances are: Regions account - $2,500; Credit Union - $2,600.
Old Business
Dennis Everett reported that nine students received scholarships in the amount of $1,140 or $570- per
semester. He noted that two of the scholarship recipients will not be full-time students this year,
therefore they cannot receive funds from AFC. Discussion ensued concerning disbursing those funds
among the remaining recipients or leaving them to roll over to next semester. A motion was made and
seconded to roll the money back into the scholarship account for next semester. Vote taken; motion
passed.
Calendar Building
Annual Conference – November 6 – 8 – President Ward encouraged everyone to decide soon
concerning attending this conference. We would like to have a good showing since Matt White
is the incoming State President. Check w/supervisors, do a leave form, complete registration at
www.myafchome.org (choose “invoice me” for payment and an invoice will be emailed to you).
When you receive the invoice from AFC, forward it to Evelyn. Be sure to reserve your room
prior to October 4. A question was raised about taking a college van to Innisbrook and Evelyn
said that would be a possibility if enough people are interested.

Greetings Association Members, Colleagues and Friends!
As a product of the Florida College System, I am humbled and honored to serve this year as the 2020 President of the Association of Florida Colleges. I am
grateful for this opportunity to represent our awesome association!
The Association of Florida Colleges represents the “Great 28” state college chapters. My focus this year will be at the chapter level to ensure that ALL our
chapters are active and serving our members. When we build our chapters, membership in our commissions, and membership as a whole WILL increase.
This year, we are “Looking for dedicated people with 2020 vision.” Our main goal is to find dedicated people at each chapter that can help further our
association’s mission. To that end, I ask every member to let your chapter know if you are interested in getting involved. You can also let me know that you
want to be involved and we’ll find somewhere at the state level for you. I was on the “sidelines” looking for a way to get back into the game when the
opportunity came along to be President. I am sure there are others just waiting to be asked or waiting for the opportunity to be involved. Let’s find these
dedicated people together.
Our colleges impact the lives of our students daily through the dedicated service of the Florida College System employees. As President of the Association
that serves these employees, I look forward to a wonderful year and to the many things that we will accomplish!
Best regards,
Matthew White
