SYNOPSIS
Project Utilization of Amorphous in RHA bubbles brick use a mixture of clay, rice husk and light
marbles. Problems encountered in this project is of disposal of rice miling in density in Malaysia and
elsewhere in this world, Then analysed the construction process that used a brick is always facing a
similar problem that the brick were easily to break Unstable structure will causing economic losses.
We choose the topic of utilization of amorphous in RHA bubble brick because compressive strength of
the brick and marble is well usable instead of the usual cement brick production . Objective and scope
of the project is to identify the durability of brick RHA is to discuss the waste of rice husk in paddy field
,to develop the uses of rha in clay brick. The present research is an attempt to incorporate waste of rice
husk in the production of cement clay brick .Basically the research is aimed to investigate the
mechanical properties of cement sand brick containing waste rice husk used is limited to 0%
,10%,20%,30% ,40%,50% only . All the specimen is subjected to water curing, compressive strength
test were conducted at the age of 7,28 and 60 days , Besides ,this study will become helpful to the
government of Malaysia .As the green brick using wastes such RHA materials to produce common brick
before this such as clay ,bubbles and for the methodology is the purpose of this research is to study the
properties of the cement sand brick being added with three different ratio of rice husk in terms of
compressive strength ,water absorption and soundness test .There are three motives of this chapter
which are to outline the research methodology of this study , clarify the calculation of rice husk ratios,
and explaining the parameters and testing conducted to achieve the objective of this research. The
compressive strength of most RHA decreased when the RHA replacement is increased. This is
happened as the RHA has coarser grain size than the clay and bubbles which produced porous surface
and more voids inside the mixtures. These characteristics affected the compressive strength of For I : 6
to RHA + clay .

SYNOPSIS
Currently, the widely used machines for painting road lanes in Malaysia are manually operated. The
nature of the operation was not only labour-intensive but also time-consuming. Furthermore, the
operator was being constantly exposed to high risk situations such as potential hazard inflicted by hot-
melted paint and collision with passing vehicles especially on heavily used road. To overcome these
issues and yet maintaining the operational cost lowest as possible, this project was aimed to design and
develop a semi-automated road lane painting system comprising of an automated paint delivery
mechanism that is capable of producing different line patterns on a road surface mounted on a mobile
platform as digital road marking as the prime mover. The automated paint delivery mechanism was
designed using a mechatronic approach. An Arduino microcontroller was employed to automate the
sequences of operations of various devices by means of a computer program controlled by human via a
remote control device (touch screen). A crude work prototype of the semi-automated road lane painting
device was developed and experimentally tested on actual road conditions.

SYNOPSIS
Soil stabilization is a process of changing physical properties of soil to increase shear strength, bearing
capacity and stability, as it achieved by use of controlled compaction or adding admixtures. It is required
when the soil available for construction is not suitable to carry structural load. An understanding of the
stabilized soil properties is of great importance for the design of deep stabilization in peat land for
highway construction. If we are using plastic as stabilizer, it’s remove the disposal problem in the
environment as well as increase the density and bearing capacity of the soil. This new technique of soil
stabilization can be effectively used to meet the challenges of society, to reduce the quantities of waste,
producing useful material from non-useful waste materials. Since the use of plastic in diversified forms
such as chairs, bottles, polythene bags and others has been advancing speedily and its disposal has
been a problem all the time regarding the environmental concern, using plastic as soil stabilizer would
reduce the problem of disposing the plastic as well as increases the density and California Bearing Ratio
(CBR) of soil in an economical way. A plastic material is any of a wide range of synthetic or semi-
synthetic organic solids that are moldable. Plastics are typically organic plastics of high molecular mass,
but they often contain other substances. They are usually synthetic, most commonly derived from
petrochemicals, but many are partially natural. In this study, plastic waste from Polypropylene (PP) type
which grinded into fine particle will be used as additional material with different plasticity indexes at four
different percentages (0%, 0.5%, 1%, 1.5%) from weight of peat soil. Laboratory tests used to find
optimum moisture content, identify stability, durability and bearing capacity are Atterberg Limit Test and
California Bearing Ratio (CBR).

SYNOPSIS
Plaster Blaster is a product made from stainless steel for plastering work purpose. This product is
composed with four parts which is tank, base of tank, air pressure switch, and air pipe connector. After
all the parts have been assembled, this product will work by connecting it with an air compressor that will
provide air pressure for Plaster Blaster to spray mortar mixture. Plasterwork is construction or
ornamentation done with plaster, such as a layer of plaster on an interior or exterior wall structure, or
plaster decorative mouldings on ceilings or walls. The objective is to preserve and protect the surface
from atmospheric influences by acting as a protective coating meanwhile in case of internal plastering,
the basic object is to protect the surfaces against dust. Next, based on the “Design Of Automatic Wall
Plastering Machine” journal, for manual plastering technique, the crucial factor is skilled labour because
of which plastering has been done on the walls, but presently there is lack of skilled labours due to which
it is very inconvenient to complete this process. The labour requires more time to finish the process.
Therefore, the main purpose of the Plaster Blaster is to make the plastering work more easy and faster
to be done. In addition, duration test, water tightness test, and tap test have been done in order to test
the effectiveness of this product. Duration test that will be conducted can show the differences between
Plaster Blaster and conventional plastering work in covering wall with plaster. This will test the time taken
for each plastering method in covering a 27 m² wall. Besides, the water tightness test and tap test are
performed to ensure the quality of the plaster produced. As conclusion, the Plaster Blaster is a tool to
facilitate construction work in plaster work.

SYNOPSIS
Aggregate is the major component used in road construction. Aggregate have to bear the stresses
occuring on the roads and have to resist wear due to abrasive action of traffic. According to A.K.
Upadhyay (2010), the tests that are carried out in order to decide the suitability of the road aggregate
in construction are Impact test, Abrasion test, Crushing strength test and etc. Based on Occupational
Safety and Health Administration, OSHA (2011), laboratory workers can be exposed to a number of
physical hazards. Repetitive motion injuries develop over time and occur when muscles and joints are
stressed, nerves are pinched and the flow blood is restricted. Standing and working in awkward
positions in front of laboratory hood/biological safety cabinets can also present ergonomic problems.
Nooser (2006), also stated that the road construction projects are always dynamic, complex, unique
and involving multiple feedback processes. Furthermore, road accidents are mainly due to insufficient
maintenance of the road network and lack of effcient (G. Yannis, 2007). Therefore, according to CIDB
(2007), indicated that machinery-oriented can increase productivity through rapid constructing time
and produce more consistent work quality. Hence, the use of mechanization and automation in the
industry clearly can give benefits to construction contractor in Malaysia (S.S. Kamaruddin, 2013).
Based on the previous statement, there are two objectives that can be include in this study. The first
objective is to illustrate of Rechargeable Automatic Machine for Aggregate Impact Value test.
Secondly, to compare Rechargeable Automatic Machine for aggregate Impact Value and existing tool
in terms of time and safety. The main purpose of rechargeable automatic machine are for
construction work and laboratory. As conclusion, the rechargeable automatic machine is required to
be used at Malaysia’s construction site and laboratory which can enhance quality of work and ensure
the safety of workers and students.

SYNOPSIS
Barrier is defined as a road furniture to be used on the road such as federal roads and state
roads for the purpose of prevent errant vehicles from entering the opposing carriageway of
traffic, help to reduce head-on collision, to be struck from either side and protect vulnerable
areas for the road user safety. Now days, concrete barrier were taken in all construction to
road safety. This study about the determination of material in concrete barrier product. Cement,
sand and aggregate are essential needs for any construction industry. Sand is a major material
used for preparation of mortar and concrete and plays a most important role in mix design. In
general consumption of natural sand is high, due to the large use of concrete and mortar.
Hence the demand of natural sand is very high in developing countries to satisfy the rapid
infrastructure growth. Instead of sand, we plan to use glass powder as an additive. This is
because glass has a physical resemblance to sand. Glass is a common solid material formed
when non-crystalline liquid materials cool down rapidly, thus not giving enough time for the
normal crystal lattice network to form. It is transparent, strong, corrosion resistant, inert, and
biologically inactive and can be formed into a durable and smooth surface. These properties
make glass a very useful material. The main component of glass is silica which is a type of
mineral containing silicon (IV) oxide. Silica exists naturally in the sand, and even glass is
sometimes formed naturally from volcanic lava in the form of obsidian. For the testing the
concrete cubes were cast for compressive strength test, replacement 10% fine aggregate with
glass powder in different proportion. The result of this test conducted on hardened concrete
with 10% glass powder for 28 days. The result shows that the compressive strength increases
with increasing time. For workability as the glass content increase and workability is
decreasing. The result of variation of flexural strength of concrete with fine aggregate replace
by glass powder is increasing compare for 7 and 28 days.

Delineator string is a temporary product for construction road that made from reflector tape and
polypropylene rope and can be used as warning sign for construction site. It can be classified as one of
the important item on construction road that needs to be installed in road under maintenance to avoid
fatalities for road user. However, the durability of existing product is poor and the position of reflector is
not static when come with wind, so road user did not see the reflector clearly. Therefore, the objectives
of this product is to promote the capability of a new delineator string made up with a combination of
delineator string and piece of zinc aluminium for road maintenance purposes. The material used in this
project is zinc metal, polypropylene rope and reflective tape. Compression strength of polyvinyl chloride
(PVC) test have been tested in order to evaluate the strength of the product. The compression strength
value is 234 MPa and higher than existing product. This is because the type of material zinc used is ZA8
(zinc aluminium). Meanwhile, the capability of reflection was measured with laser diffuse reflection.
Based on ASTM International Standard, the data shown that the capability of reflector is accepted and
can reflect the light 15m from vehicle. As a conclusion, the new delineator string can be more useful for
road construction or maintenance works.

SYNOPSIS
Porous concrete is a type of concrete with significantly high water permeability compared to normal
weight concrete. Porous concrete also known as pervious concrete, no fine aggregates, permeable
concrete or enhanced porous concrete. Usually, it consists a mixture of gravel or stone, cement, water
and little or no sand which creates an open cell structure that allows water and air to pass through it. In
addition, Rice Husk Ash (RHA) generally referred to an agricultural by-product of burning husk under
controlled temperature. Rice husk ash also has a very high water demand due to its porous structure.
When added to a concrete mix, rice husk ash particles like a sponge absorb water into their pores. The
ability of pervious concrete with Rice Husk Ash (RHA) is to allow water to flow through itself recharges
ground water and minimizes the extent of pollution and storm water runoff. However, Clogging is an
unavoidable problem due to the existence of voids in porous concrete. The open voids are highly prone
to be clogged during the utilization of porous concrete pavement over time. Therefore, the objective of
this project is to determine the water absorption and compressive strength of porous concrete by using
rice husk ash. Furthermore, The compressive strength test was carried out for 7, 14 and 21 days to
measure the compressive strength of concrete. So the aim of the investigation is to study the behaviour
of porous concrete while replacing the Rice Husk Ash (RHA) with different proportions in concrete.
Cement is replaced by weight Rice Husk Ash (RHA) at 15%. In conclusion, test results have reflected
the compressive strength achieved up to 15% replacement of cement with RHA will be optimum without
effecting properties of fresh and hardened concrete.

SYNOPSIS
Zinc roof is widely used in Malaysia especially at the traditional village houses due to economic reason.
Zinc has high thermal conductivity, resulting to uncomfortable living space for people because of the
excessive heat inside the house. Zinc-roofed houses will be exposed to heat in hot weather and if there
is no effective ventilation, the house space will be very hot and uncomfortable to stay in. The purpose of
this study is to determine an alternative method to lower the temperature inside a zinc covered house.
The proposed method is by flowing water by using water pump throughout the area of the zinc roofing,
where heat transfer process will occur upon contact. The process will dissipate heat from the zinc but will
increase the water temperature. Heated water will then free fall by gravity into a tank through perforated
tube with very fine aperture, as water droplet. By the same heat transfer process, ambient air will lower
the water temperature, which will be recirculation back to the roof. The tests show the system was able
to lower the temperature of the zinc covered house, and can reduce cost of cooling, thus suitable for low
income rural population in Malaysia.

SYNOPSIS
Lightweight cover drain (LCD) is a product consist of two types of concrete which are lightweight and
pervious concrete. This type of product can be classified as a filtration concrete cover drain. Recently,
metal cover drain that are stolen regularly by vandalism could cause pedestrians have been plagued
with having to avoid uncovered drains. The function of pervious concrete is to filter the rubbish in order
to increase the water quality. Therefore, this product replaced the existing metal cover drain and could
enhance the quality of water in terms of turbidity, pH, Dissolve Oxygen (DO) and Total Suspended Solid
(TSS). Thus, the main objective of this research is to compare the water quality before and after the
filtration process through the pervious concrete. The other objective of this research is to determine the
performance of lightweight concrete and pervious concrete strength. This product is designed with
interlocking method to avoid the water flow to the drain directly. Due to that, flow rate test has been done
in order to ovoid flood problem. The dimension of cover drains is 59.5cm (L) X 39.5cm (W) X 6.5cm (H).
While, for the dimension pervious concrete is 39.5cm (L) X 19.5 (W) X 6.5cm (H). Lightweight concrete
contain cement, fine aggregate, clay aggregate, and perlite. The materials for pervious concrete are
cement, coarse aggregate, and zeolite. The result revealed that strength of lightweight concrete meets
the standard strength of lightweight concrete.

SYNOPSIS
This study is to produce the Aggregates Motorized Flakiness (AMOF) machine that can be used to
isolate the aggregates according to the specific sizes. The existing tool that were called Flakiness Gauge
Index are performed manually in distributing the aggregates one by one by using hand. Therefore, the
study was conducted to produce time efficiency in segregating the aggregates accurately without any
mistakes. The test were done to compare the time taken in isolating the aggregates by using Aggregates
Motorized Flakiness (AMOF) and the existing tool which is Flakiness Gauge Index. Besides, it is also to
determine the accuracy of each aggregates goes into each slots. The materials used to produce AMOF
are recycled Aluminium Composite Panel (ACP) for the body frame of the machine, recycled steels to
merge all the ACP by using rivets & vibrator motor to shake the aggregates. The size of the machine is
400mm width and 930mm height. To prepare the products’s drawing, Sketch Up & AutoCad software are
used in order to obtain the real view of Aggregate Motorized Flakiness (AMOF) machine in Highway
Laboratory. In this era, there are no product that can separate the aggregates to the specific sizes by
using vibration motor. Most of the time, they are done manually.

SYNOPSIS
Brick is the most important tiny piece for construction works and used by human for many
Years back. Cement brick or clay brick can be used to build homes as well as garden
structures such as retaining walls, driveway and walkway paving. Furthermore, they are
frequently used in the construction of low-cost housing for the numerous reasons. The
crushed stone that goes into the manufacture of cement bricks is often what gives them
strength. Present work investigates the feasibility of incorporating effluent Water Treatment
Plant (WTP) produce copious quantities of solid waste in the form of sludge that is
deteriorating water resources, agriculture lands and human health. From the previous study in
Malaysia, the disposal of sludge from sewage water treatment is a big issue for wastewater
plants in Malaysia. While studies show that the volume of sludge is expected to rise, disposal
options are limited due to stricter environmental regulations including a ban on burying sludge
in soil, due to its high heavy metal content that could cause adverse impacts to the
environment. Additionally, they have found that dried sewage sludge could be an alternative
cement material for concrete in developing countries. This sludge is been added as a
additional material into the bricks. This sludge bricks are economical and considered
environmental friendly compared to conventional cement brick formation and there is no firing
step involved in its formation. Sludge bricks are very much attractive in construction of small
houses. Studies found that, by adding sludge as material in the brick can produce
compressive strength as same as ordinary bricks. Adding sludge as the material will help our
main problem statement which is, sludge will be decreased if we use it as a one of the
material in brick or construction work in our country.

SYNOPSIS
Efficient waste management has become a major concern throughout the world in both the developed
and developing countries. The European Environment Agency has projected that total municipal waste
produced by the European countries will increase by 25% in 2020 as compared to 2005. The plastic is
high generated among the waste and not easily decompose. In this study is approach the use of
Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) waste as the main material and convert it to carbonaceous adsorbent
through KOH activation. In order to determine the physical and chemical characteristics of the produced
carbonaceous adsorbent, Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy
(FT-IR) and Porosity measurement are used. The adsorption isotherms of MB have been studied using
Langmuir, Freundlich, and Temkin models for the produced carbonaceous adsorbent. In addition, the
obtained results show that the Langmuir isotherm model has the best fitness with R2 value measured as
0.992. The present study shows that PET bottles are appropriate precursors for producing
carbonaceous adsorbent.

SYNOPSIS
Conversion of palm waste to activated carbon have attracted significant attention due to their
lignocellulose chemistry and abundance. Activated carbon also called activated charcoal is a form of
carbon processed to have small, low-volume pores that increase the surface area and available for
adsorption or chemical reactions. Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) is the wastewater produced by
processing oil palm and contributed to environmental pollution due to the production of large quantities
of products during the process of oil extraction. Chemically modification of activated carbon for the
treatment helps to improve the environment from pollution that affecting human health. The process
used to modified the structure with high temperature and add chemical (HNO3) for this project to
synthesis activated carbon from physiochemical activation using Palm Kernel Shell. In conclusion, the
results of the present investigation reveal that activated carbon can be prepared conveniently and
economically from plant sources likes Palm Kernel Shell (PKS). The adsorbents from PKS have a
capacity to remove the oil and grease and identify by using USEPA Hexane Extractable Gravimetric
Method.

SYNOPSIS
The slump test is the most simple workability test for concrete, involves low cost and provides immediate
results. Slump test is very important for construction to determine concrete strength. Due to this, slump
test is usually a problem for construction such as counting tamped, height of tamping and water
discharged. This is the problem of human error. The test method is used as a generic tool for
classification of mixtures and can address various capabilities. The purpose of this study was to produce
an innovative product to avoid minor problems that could lead to the collapse of the project. However,
innovate the slump test tools is to avoid the error. Tools for innovate that used is digital counting,
stainless steel height adjustable, clip lock for the trampoline and rubber for the bottom of the slump cone
to reduce the rate of discharge of cement-infused water during the test. So after this innnovation will
reduced the error. In addition, we also collected data for ph readings on cement mixes before and after
testing. This is because it is related to the environment.

SYNOPSIS
Nowadays, there are variety of paints equipment in the markets such as brush paint, paint roller and
other newly invented tools. These tools are used to apply the liquid paint on any surfaces. There are
two types of liquid paint, water based and oil based. Painting on a curve surfaces required many
directions to paint which is very time consuming, causing more paints volume needed to ensure the
painting job can be done and it also could affect the costing of painting work. Plus, using unsuitable
painting tool also affecting painting job. Hence, an idea to construct an innovation of a flexible paint
equipment was produced. The innovation product consisting of flexible frame where it can be applied
on circular and flat surface. The built-storage will be attached as a part of the product where a certain
amount of paint will be stored. For the frame, a flexible stainless steel was welded with a steel then
assembled with plastic tube and for the material of the frame, fibre wool was attached as it was a
good paint absorber. The result for testing is required from the comparison between the volume of
paint used and time taken to finish paint circular surface between innovation paint equipment and
existing painting tools like brush and paint roller.
