INDUCTION PROGRAMME

PURPOSE

The purpose of the faculty-student mentor-mentee system is to provide guidance to students
on academic matters and to foster a close and constructive professional relationship between
students and the staff of the Faculty. While all lecturers in the Faculty are potentially academic
advisors to all students who seek their advice, each lecturer (mentor) is assigned particular
responsibility to a small group of students (mentees).

ROLES OF MENTORS

In essence, the key roles of mentors are to:
1. Assist their mentees to gain an understanding of the curriculum, the faculty’s
expectations of its students,and theStudent's requirements (for example, in respect of its
student registration system);
2. Provide advice and guidance to students regarding academic matters;
3. Provide feedback and opportunities for reflective review following the release of End-of-
Block and End-of-Posting results;
4. Assist students in solving problems and, when necessary, refer them to an appropriate
authority or resource person;
5. Perform any other functions as required by the Faculty.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF MENTEES

All students are encouraged to meet with their mentors, regularly to discuss their learning
progress including any academic problems encountered.

The students and faculty of Chettinad School of Pharmaceutical Sciences celebrated World
Pharmacists day on 25th September 2019. First-yearB.PhThefirst students created and displayed
collage posters on the theme of “Safe and Effective Medicines for All”. The posters were very

27th September 2019 SaplingPlantation Drive

To add to the enviable collection of medicinal plants thriving in the Herbal Garden of CARE, the
faculty and students of Chettinad School of Pharmaceutical Sciences organized a sapling
plantation drive on 27th September 2019 within the CARE campus. The purpose of this drive
was to plant flowering medicinal plants which will be tended to by the students themselves,
instilling in them a sense of responsibility and ownership while acquiring knowledge.

29th to 31st October 2019 - Meditation classes for Pharmaceutical
Sciences and Physiotherapy students of CARE.

Heartfulness is a heart-centered approach to life and enables the person to live every moment

by the heart. Through this, we live naturally and our life is enriched by superior qualities such
as compassion, sincerity, contentment, trust,and courage, us to follow a simple and subtle
practice of meditation that connects each of us with the light and love in our hearts.

19th and 20th October 2019 – IPR Olympiad

Chettinad Institution Innovation Council (CIIC) organized a two day Intellectual Property Rights
(IPR) – Olympiad Online Examination for Undergraduates in association with Intellectual’s
Society for Entthree-days Research Development (ISERD), New Delhi. This Olympiad targeted
undergraduate students from Chettinad School of Pharmaceuticals, Faculty of Allied Health
Sciences and Chettinad,School of Law and was conducted on the 19th and 20th of October
2019.

STUDENT OUTREACH ACTIVITIES

25th September 2019 - Outreach Program

Chettinad School of Pharmaceutical Sciences conducted an awareness program on “Safe and
Effective Medicines for all” for the students of class 10 and classes BKMclassesol, Kelambakkam
on 25th September 2019. TheFirst-yearr Pharm students mime show on the safe and effective
use of medicines. They also gave speeches in Tamil and English to emphasizethe role
ofpharmacists in the health care sector. CARE wholeheartedly believes that this outreach
program conducted by our students will contribute in its way to reduce the risk of irrational use
of medicines.

25th October 2019 – CARE Shares – Diwali Celebrations at Anbagam

To experience the joy of sharing and spread the light of wellness and happiness, faculty and
students of Chettinad School of Pharmaceutical Sciences organized Diwali celebrations at
Anbagam Home, which is located at Panangattupakkam, Kayar Road on 25/10/2019. Anbagam
is a special school with residential facilities for retarded and multiple disabled individuals and is
under the administration of the All India Physically Handicapped Welfare Trust. The
Undergraduate students of Pharmacy school distributed sweets and snacks to all the inmates
who were sheltered in the home. They also entertained them with songs, dance and gifted
them specially handcrafted gifts which had been creatively put together by the students
themselves. Such trips help the young generation to realize the value of life, both physical and
mental, and to appreciate the value of small possessions that may seem insignificant at times.
The students were grateful for the enriching experience and to Dr.P.Veeramani, founder and
Director of the Institution for allowing them to meet and interact with the people in need.
