School E magazine Middle School December to March- 2019-20

Issue
LVG-11/3rd Quarter/2019-20

“No, this is not the beginning of a new chapter in my life; this is the beginning of a
new book! That first book is already closed, ended, and tossed into the seas; this new
book is newly opened, has just begun! Look, it is the first page! And it is a beautiful
one!” — C. JoyBell C.

It is with great joy that we present yet another intrusive edition of our quarterly e-
magazine, Different strokes. The e-magazine is a solemn effort by the school to allow
the parent community to be aware of the happenings of the school and be a part of
their child's journey towards their goals. As Kemmy Nola correctly said, “Don’t run
away from a challenge. Instead, run towards it, the only way to escape fear is to
trample it beneath your feet and the more difficult the victory; the greater the
happiness in winning is.” In the same way, the school presented a plethora of
challenges for the young learners and made sure that each one of them emerged like a
shining star.
With the commencement of the new academic session for grades X and XII, learners
are all geared up to put their best foot forward. With their books and their golden
pen, they are all set to document their glorious achievements . Passion Paathshala
was yet another unique feature of all the other successful events organized by the
school for the learners to deliver their understanding to the parents; allowing them a
sneak peek into their child’s life. The Citation ceremony is a mega event held every
year to give recognition to the talents of the outgoing students and to encourage them
to hone their skills and flourish in times to come. Each student appearing for the
class XII board exam is felicitated with a citation during the ceremony. The Work
Education Display Exhibited the immense talent of the students and was much
valued by the parents.
Last but not least finally the time has come up for the learners to put on their
thinking caps and be ready to showcase their dedication, hard work, and commitment
with the commencement of their Annual Internal Exams.
We take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to our parent fraternity for
their unconditional involvement and constant trust. We have faith that this
relationship is built on trust and love and it will forever continue for the betterment of
our children’s holistic development.

The purpose of school education is to encourage the
development of skills and attitudes to promote lifelong

learning. Since its inception in 2011, Lotus Valley

International School, Gurugram, has blossomed into

an abode of perseverance and excellence, providing high
quality teaching and learning experiences to enable each

child to reach their full potential.

I would like to congratulate and applaud the Principal,

Mrs. Anita Malhotra and her dedicated team for their
relentless efforts towards imparting holistic education

that aims at rearing a breed of young minds filled with

self-confidence and motivation, and ever ready to take DR SHAYAMA CHONA
up challenges. Padma Shree & Padma

Bhushan Awardee

My heart filled with immense pride to witness the wholehearted participation of the

learners in innovative programmes like the Passion Paathshala and Learners Led

League, which not only allowed the learners to showcase their talents but also encouraged
them to take ownership of their learning. Out-bound excursions gave them an opportunity

to experience new environments and enjoy a day away from the classroom. The Learners

Conclave was also a wonderful platform for the senior school students to exhibit their

talents in varied areas like debating, fashion, dramatics etc.

Our children’s learning and development thrives on an effective partnership between home
and school. I truly value the continual support of our parents in all our endeavours. My
best wishes to my grade X and XII students who are appearing for their board exam.
Our young Lotusians are not only equipped to pass examinations with flying colours, but
are also well prepared to take on the challenges of life with confidence.

I wish the school the very best for all future endeavours and hope the mentors will
continue to nurture the hearts and minds of the students, as according to Aristotle,
“educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.”

Dear Parent and Learner, Mrs ANITA MALHOTRA
Time flies! As we step into another exciting academic State & CBSE Awardee
year, it is important to retrospect and introspect on
the learnings taken in the sessions gone by. We are
never too ripe or too old to learn more; for when we
cease to learn, we cease to grow.

I would like to emphasize upon, to all learners, the
power of now, the right time is now! The habit of
procrastination, especially when it comes to learning
can have detrimental results not just in their report
card but also on their vulnerable mind. Often, when I
meet parents, I am asked as to how the child can
work upon his or her gaps in order to achieve the
desired results. My simple answer is, consistence in
hard work and perseverance in their course of action
and most importantly ‘keep going’ attitude!

The school fosters complete support to learners when it comes to their understanding of
subjects, concept clarity and assimilation of the topics taught. I urge every learner to
take the best from their teachers and never undermine their advice.

Become fearless in the pursuit of excellence. We must aim above the mark to hit the
mark, therefore keep your goals and aspirations high, never compromise on anything
less than perfection in your hard work, enthusiasm and vigour. Knowledge without
action is futile. So, GET SET GO, to realize your dreams and success is bound to
be yours!

I urge all parents to continue to participate in this beautiful journey of learning of
their ward, the symbiotic relationship between school and parents leads to the victory of
our children.

I would also take this opportunity to thank the editorial team and every member
involved to put up this edition of the e-magazine. I am sure you will enjoy reading it
as much as we have enjoyed putting it together.

Awakened Citizen Programme has been guiding the learners to unleash their
potential and guide them towards the infinite innate possibility of ‘I Can’.
The teachers have been trained to facilitate this programme by the mentors of
Ramakrishna Mission.
On 28th January 2020, the mentors guide, Mrs Indrani Roy and Mrs Nandini from

“In Play children learn together to change the rules to meet the situation they face,
which is a powerful social Experience”- Joan Almon
Lotus Valley International School marked the 3rd
edition of the “Learners Led League, 2019“ on
Saturday, 14th December 2019. It provided a
platform for young learners to promulgate the
teaching-learning process with the spirit and
colours of Christmas.
This is an annual event where parents share
personal academic space with their ward, leading
through the in-roads of classroom learning, the
efforts, growth, and experiences through the
Learner’s Profile File.

The Principal, Ms. Anita Malhotra opened the event amidst a cake cutting ceremony along
with the school staff and the youngest learners of the school.
Grade IV learners filled the air with an exhilarating musical extravaganza in the form of
dances and carols with the joy and cheer of Christmas whereas learners of Grades V-VIII
displayed their Learner’s profile files and involved parents in interesting games with
immense enthusiasm and showcased their talents with pulsating dance performances,
humorous skits, melodious songs, mesmerizing magic shows and much more.
The vibrant day left all in memories to stay and to certainly prove that “Children learn as
they play. Most importantly in Play children Learn how to Learn”

Lotus Valley International School firmly

believes in partnership with parents for the

progress of the institution. One such event,

Passion Pathshala with Parents, was conducted

by the learners of Grade IV on the 4th and 5th

of February, 2020. It was an opportunity to

help our committed learners take on the

responsibility of imparting knowledge,

teaching various engaging topics to their

parents. The teaching-learning session was

amalgamated by learners showcasing their

Profile folders which had a record of

activities that the learners were engaged

in throughout the year.

The entire purpose was to help parents
gain a better understanding of the
innovative teaching pedagogies that are
being adopted in the school. It also helped
them gauge their child’s understanding of
important concepts in each subject.

The event Passion Pathshala with Parents was a grand success as it brought back fond
memories from childhood times for the parents and enthused our learners with
unwavering confidence to be able to conduct an event with a great amount of
accountability and ownership.
