1967-77: The first decade… ah… let me think… Four years at Russell Sage
College in Troy, New York, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in French
Literature and a minor in Spanish, along with the credentials to teach French and
Spanish.

I was married in 1971 and spent a year in Schwabisch Gmund Germany
where I worked as an Education Counselor in the Army Education Center.

Upon return to the U.S., we settled in Rochester, New York, where I earned
a Master of Arts degree in education and curriculum development from the Warner School of the
University of Rochester. My first teaching position was in Penfield, a suburb of Rochester.

1977-87: In the summer of 1976, we moved to Cambridge, MA. Here I secured a teaching position in
Newton Public Schools as a Spanish teacher and department chair at Weeks Junior High School. During
these years in Cambridge we traveled extensively through Europe. In July 1977 I lived and studied in
Durango, Mexico.

Coming back to New York in 1981, we landed in Manhattan, but soon moved to Fairfield County,
Connecticut. Greenwich and then New Canaan. I was appointed French/Spanish teacher and World
Language Department Chairperson in Scarsdale Middle School in September 1981 and that position was to
last for close to four decades. Our two beautiful daughters arrived in 1984 and 1986.

1987-97: This decade saw the raising of our daughters and family vacations to Colorado, Hawaii, and
Cape Cod. I received a second Master’s from Fairfield University. While our daughters attended summer
camp in the late 90s, I resumed French studies in France through the University of Wisconsin.

1997-2007: These years saw our daughters’ high school graduations from New Canaan and college
graduations from Colby College and Boston University. Something about New England in this family! I
went back to school to earn another Master of Arts, this time in French Language and Civilization from
New York University. Most course work was at the NYU campus in Paris. Gee whiz, someone had to do
it!

2007-17 The decade of downsizing…

After selling the family home of twenty-eight years, I moved back to Greenwich while exploring
real estate in Manhattan. After a long and through search, I settled in Murray Hill the Fall of 2012. What
is fun about my building is that my brother’s oldest son lives here, too! It has become a scene for regular
family gatherings! Some different than the farm on Waterman Hill!

I retired from teaching last June 2016. However, I continue to consult for my district until they find
my replacement.

I was recently elected to the Board of Managers for my condo association where I am secretary and
co-chair of our Health Club. I am leaving July 10th for New Zealand and Australia, and thus, I will not be
in attendance for our reunion. This trip presented itself with friends who had already booked the tour. This
October I have plans to visit Peru: Lima, Machu Picchu, and the Sacred Valley. I am now making good on
my retirement commitment to travel while I can!

I am sending a great big hello and am very disappointed to miss this once in a lifetime event. I am
hoping that maybe there will be impetus to try for other events to gather the group together as we continue
enjoying our well-deserved retirements!

1967 – 1977: I wanted to work for a while after high school, but my father insisted that I enter
college … so off to St. Lawrence University. While attending SLU I worked part-time as an
announcer for WSLU-FM (precursor of National Public Radio). I withdrew after 3 semesters
subsequent to a severe concussion, but was fortunate to obtain a full-time position at WSLU-FM as
program director. I held that job and also sold advertising for WPDM radio until the fall of 1970
when I chose to return to college … this time across town at Canton College. At ATC I majored in
accounting, minored in data processing and fell in love … with soccer! Although ineligible to play
due to my stint at SLU, I was allowed to practice with the team. In 1972 I received an AAS degree
in accounting and transferred to the University of Idaho. I earned a starting berth on the soccer team
both seasons. As 1 of only 3 Americans on the squad, this was truly a cultural shock. During my
college years I worked 3 summers for Whalen, Davey & Looney, a CPA firm in Ogdensburg and, while performing an audit,
met my future wife, Sharon. She moved to Watertown prior to my graduation in 1974 with a BS in accounting. Because of my
growing relationship with Sharon and the fact that my father was getting on in years (he had retired by this time), I returned to
the North Country. Joining the staff of WD&L full-time, I played in an adult men’s ice hockey league and the following year
qualified for a semi-pro soccer team in the Canadian league, but left before the season began to become assistant comptroller at
the House of Good Samaritan hospital in Watertown. Sharon had a dog named Mitzi whom she rescued as a puppy in 1971.
She said, “You marry me; you marry my dog.” The 3 of us were joined in holy matrimony in 1975! We both liked traveling and
began dabbling in antiques as a sideline business in 1976.

1977 - 1987: Recruited by other hospitals, I accepted the position of comptroller and business manager at Adirondack Medical
Center in Saranac Lake in 1977. It only lasted three months! Having undergone a bout of pneumonia, the hospital’s chief
medical officer wouldn’t reinstate me because he believed the cooler, damper climate there was a contributing factor. Back in
Watertown I began employment with a CPA firm as a senior accountant and business consultant (big title, small salary!). In
1979 a fellow hockey player and I found ourselves coaching 2 girls’ ice hockey teams of different age groups! Sharon and I
used our vacations to travel, but were limited by the time available. In 1982, however, we were able to accumulate vacations,
personal days, etc. and took a trip around the country by car. My father died 3 months later and, although I loved coaching, was
too heart-broken to continue. Dispirited, I tried a change of pace in 1983 by reverting to broadcasting as assistant manager for
the non-profit WPBS-TV in Watertown. After 7 months of 16-hour days I was still downhearted and burned out as well. I
moved on to a different CPA firm where I performed strictly corporate work. We modified the focus of the antique business to
buying entire estates (contents only) as a service to families who didn’t know what to do or where to turn. Our greatest
satisfaction came from rendering assistance to these people through guidance regarding legal services, estate taxes, etc. My
mother remarried and in 1985, having sold the homestead on State Street, moved away.

1987 – 1997: Mitzi had become our child … going everywhere and doing everything with us. We were devastated when she
passed away in 1988. I still carry a picture of the three of us. A congenital spine problem manifested itself in 1990. The
neurosurgeon said it was inoperable and suggested I find a profession that didn’t require much sitting. The condition worsened,
I was declared disabled and my accounting career ended in 1993. While exploring my options, I puttered in real estate part-time,
but gave up the RE license in 1996 to concentrate on our antique business. Owing to the large quantity of inventory being
acquired, we made a switch in 1997 to selling almost exclusively to dealers.

1997 – 2007: In 2004 I had an operation to remove a nodule from my throat which turned out to be an extremely rare cancer in
early stage 4. I was given a 10% chance to live another 2 years. We immediately closed the business, so I could devote my time
to medical research. Early in 2005 we traveled to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX, the world’s largest such facility.
They explained that this type of tumor has already metastasized by the time it is large enough to detect and, therefore, was still
somewhere in my body. My mutation was only the second one they had encountered and, to their knowledge, untreatable and
incurable. Through blood testing they determined that it was present, active and growing … but they couldn’t locate it. A
contrarian by nature, I discovered information about attitude, diet, exercise, etc. which I incorporated into my lifestyle. I give
thanks to God every day for blessing me with another sunrise … and each year I return to MD Anderson as part of their ongoing
research. The tumor continues to grow, albeit slowly, and they still haven’t found it. (Even so, they tell me I’m their healthiest-
looking patient.)

2007 – 2017: Sharon retired in 2008 after 22 years as bursar at Jefferson Community College. Tired of living in a small house
on a busy highway, we moved into a much larger home at the end of a dead-end road in 2009. Built on a former pasture, we had
a blank canvas for landscape projects which we are now just finishing. We have continued to collect antiques and twice have

seen dealers whom we dealt who appear on “American Pickers”. In 2017 I had surgery to remove another cancer which was
totally unrelated to my other one.

1967-77: Graduated CHS and attended SLU, graduated in 1971 with a BS in geophysics. Married Barbara
McCarthy. In August 1971 we moved to Atlanta Georgia to attend Georgia Institute of Technology and
graduated in 1973 with a MS in geophysical science. Following a brief training cycle in Ft. Huachuca,
Arizona, we moved to Dallas Texas and began employment with Atlantic Richfield as an exploration
geophysicist. Our first child (Marcy) was born in May 1974. We eventually transferred to Houston, Texas
and continued a career in oil & gas exploration. We transferred to Lafayette Louisiana in 1977, where our
second child (Allison) was born that September.

1977-87: Our twins (Rebecca & Sarah) were born in April 1980. We fell in love with the Cajun culture
and decided to do what we could to remain here to raise our children. Our primary focus was on raising
“Our Girl’s”. We were deeply involved in their schooling and extra-curricular activities. In 1978 I went to
work for Entex and eventually became exploration manager. In 1985 I left Entex and went to work for
Sandefer Oil & Gas to help start-up their Lafayette office.

1987-97: Our girls flourished and our circle of friends expanded. The oil & gas business went through
numerous cycles, but we remained prosperous and happy.

1997 -2007: The girls all grew up to be fine young women. They succeed through high school and college,
eventually married (four weddings in five years) and are well established with families of their own. They
are the pride of our lives.

2007-2017: We took the opportunity in 2004 to start an exploration company (Kitty Hawk Energy), where
I remain quite busy navigating the highs & lows of the oil & gas business. We love the challenge and have
no intention of fully retiring, unless of course the business environment forces us to. We have remained in
Lafayette for the last 40 years and thoroughly enjoy the unique culture and cuisine that is found in this area.
All of our girls have remained close to us and to each other. We have been blessed to have 10
grandchildren and remain deeply involved in all their lives. Barbara (aka Bebe) is constantly “standing by”
to help as needed and I (aka Bepa) am the Mr. Fix-it guy in the family. We travel whenever we get the
chance (usually cruises), enjoy annual visits back to Canton to visit family and spend a month or so on the
beach in Gulf Shores Alabama every Fall. Life is good.

The 70’s: Married to my best friend and neighbor growing up Arnold Cota. Moved
to Rochester NY and stayed only a short time as the city wasn't for us. We moved
back to Pyrites NY, our hometown and had two boys Arnold JR and Christopher.
Settled into family life there,

The 80's: Just a normal family. Both of us were working to making a go of it. Arn
worked at St Lawrence University and I worked at Britts Department store until
closing and then for Ames Department Store. Went to work for a small fuel oil
company, then for People's Oil and when that was sold to Griffith Oil, went there.
One of the guys who worked with me started his own company, Kunoco. I helped start the company and
become office manager and there is where my career started in management.

The 90's: In 1993 with both boys graduating from college: Arn Jr from Potsdam State majoring in
computers and Chris from Clarkson majoring in Engineering. We sold our home and moved to NC. I went
to work for the Town of Holly Springs in the inspection Department as Office manager and permit
specialist. It started out with just my boss and me. But that didn't last long as the building boom hit big
time. The small sleepy southern town started to grow as did the Department. It became like an extended
family for me. I worked with a great group of guys who were fantastic. Then I hired a girl and there were
three before the last one, whom I worked with until I retired, had the same work ethic that I did. We joked
and said she was my southern version as my boss repeatedly told me I would always be a true Yankee. But
he did say however he was very unsure of hiring a Yankee, but soon learned that he could come and go as
needed and the running of the office would not skip a beat. It was as he told me many times, it was in the
best hands possible. We now have two Grandsons by our oldest son. We lived by them for 10 years on the
Deep River where our son and family along with Arn and I both built new homes.

2000: The end of 2000 I had open heart surgery to replace an aortic valve that was a birth defect. I was out
of work for about a month. After this things went along smoothly until our retirement in 2013 with me
leaving the town. By then we had decided to move to SC to be closer to our youngest son, Christopher,
who was the proud dad of our granddaughter. She was diagnosed with Autism at the age of one year old.
We wanted to be close to him in case he needed us. Well, our house was on the market for a while. It sold,
but the sale fell through. We just couldn't understand why it was not selling. Then came the day it sold.
We packed up and with a lot of crying from me, left our oldest son and family to move to Woodruff SC,
where our new home was being built. Then came a dreaded phone call from our youngest, who, through a
very emotional call, told us that his wife had passed away. Then it became clear to us that God had brought
us closer to Chris to be there, like we promised, to help him. We rented a Travel Home for a few months,
then moved in with him until our home was completed. That brings us to the present with peace of mind,
Love and family. Our oldest Grandson has now graduated from college, and youngest grandson ready to
enter in August. Granddaughter is now 16, beautiful and a pistol. Although she is still non-verbal, her dad
installed a program on her iPad that she talks through. Chris has remarried to a beautiful girl from Slovakia
which makes our family proud. Life is beautiful, but we don't want to get to secure, in that as we all know
things can change in a minute.

Hoping everyone is doing well and I sadly miss the ones who are no longer with us. Enjoy your time at the
reunion, if attending, and be safe.

- Went to Oswego State College; at various times I roomed with Greg Segar, Dan
Dwyer & Steve Rose and also played hockey with them. I graduated with a
B.S. in Education. A few years later I went back to school and got my MBA.

- I student-taught in Biology at West Genesee High School in Camillus, NY and
they offered me a position of teaching Earth Science. I did that for a year, but
didn’t want to stay in teaching so I tried various sales’ positions before finally
taking a job with Niagara Mohawk, where I worked 23 years in various
management positions – primarily Finance, Purchasing and Inventory.

- I finished my working career with NRG Energy, an Independent Power producer – working out of their
Oswego office. I retired in 2014 and to keep myself busy during the winter, I drive a school bus for
West Genesee District part-time. Funny how things go in a circle.

- I still live in Camillus, NY (just outside Syracuse) and still see my life-long buddy Greg Segar (who
also unfortunately couldn’t come to the Reunion). Greg lives in Jamesville-DeWitt, also a suburb of
Syracuse.

- I married out of college and had 3 boys by my first wife. All 3 are married and 2 of them each have a
boy & a girl. Unfortunately, one lives in Denver, one in Milwaukee and one in the Philadelphia area,
so I don’t get to see them as much as I would like. I re-
married to Patty, my current wife, when I was 40. She
has 2 boys, one which also has a boy and a girl. The
son with her grandchildren lives in the Syracuse area,
while her other son lives in Raleigh, NC.

- Patty and I travel as much as we can. We’ve been to
Europe at least 7 times and will be going to Ireland this
fall. Most of the time we travel with another couple,
but will be going alone to Ireland. Patty plans all our
trips and schedules everything from flights, booking
rooms, transportation (car rental, trains, buses) and
stops. You would be surprised how much money that
saves and the upgrades you can acquire. We also take
cruises every winter usually in the Caribbean. We
usually go for 10 to 12 days and always with at least
one other couple. Now that both my and Patty’s
parents have passed away, we will be taking longer
vacations, especially in the winter.

- That’s my life in a nutshell – I’m happy, healthy and
grateful for all that life has given me. And of course,
looking forward to the rest of my journey and our 75th
reunion!

After I graduated from SUNY Canton in 1970, I married Jim Brunner, also a
SUNY Canton graduate. He then enlisted in the Army and we were stationed in
Miesau, Germany from 1970-1972. Our close neighbors in Germany were Mike
and Marie Gushea McDougall!

In 1972 we returned to Endicott, NY so my husband could work in the family
Lumber Business. Our daughter, Allison, and son, Kyle, were born a few years
later.

In 1985 I was hired as a secretary in the Union-Endicott School District. I started in the Music and Art
Departments. A few years later I was promoted to Administrative Assistant to Assistant Superintendent. I
retired in 2013. After 18 months of retirement, I decided I wanted to work part-time. I currently work as
secretary in the guidance office of our middle school (9:00-1:00 with summers off)!

After I retired, I looked for a fun activity. I have always loved drums so I learned how to play tenor drum.
I am currently a drummer in the Maloney Memorial Bag Pipe Band. On my “bucket list” was to someday
march in the New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade – and I’ve done this the last three years!

Our daughter, Allison, and her husband, Gordo, currently live in Australia with our two grandchildren. We
traveled there in 2015 and hope to go again this year. The move was work related with Lockheed Martin.
We are hoping they move back to the States in a couple of years!

In 2014, on Facebook I found my Canton “BFFs”, Marie Gushea McDougal, Donna Hammond Buelt, and
Linda Jubinville Golembiewski. We had a wonderful reunion on our 65th birthdays on Anna Maria Island,
FL. We also connected with Patty O’Driscoll Fisher that week. It was like we had never been apart!

In addition to traveling, my husband and I love to kayak with our dog, Cody. We paddle around the
Southern Tier of NY, and the Adirondacks!

After CHS I attended Middlebury College in Vermont, enjoying typical crazy
college life in the late 60's and playing football, basketball and golf. Upon
graduation in 1971, I married Debbie Lewkowitz (CHS '66) and attended Cornell
University, receiving my MBA in 1973 and then fulfilled my ROTC military
obligation at Fort Gordon, Augusta, GA. I began my working career in Springfield,
MA with the accounting firm Coopers and Lybrand. In 1976 I accepted a position

After High School I attended Canton ATC in the Agricultural curriculum majoring
in Dairy and Food Science. I graduated with High Honors at the top of the Ag
Division with an Associate in Applied Science Degree. After college I worked for
Jefferson Bulk Milk Coop in Evans Mills, NY as a Lab Technician. I later took a
job with Kraft Foods in Canton, NY as a Lab Tech there. In 1973 I started working
for H. K. Webster Company Inc. in Lawrence MA as an analytical chemist. I lived
in Manchester, NH, and after marrying Diana Pike from Norfolk, NY in 1975, we
moved to Derry, NH and later bought a home in East Derry, NH. Diana and I
enjoyed Square Dancing and joined the local square dance club, The Spacetown Squares. The name came
from the fact that East Derry was the birth place of local hometown hero, Allen Shepard. We became
members of the New England Square and Round Dance Association (NESARDA), and in 1976 we helped
host the Annual New England Square and Round Dance Convention in Manchester, NY and served as
Directory Chairmen.

In January 1981 Diana and I moved back to Canton, NY. I started working for New York Dairy Herd
Improvement Association (NYDHIA) as a Field Technician. I later took a job with NYS Mastitis Lab as a
Farm Tech and a Lab Tech. From 1983 until 1987 I worked at several places, sometimes two or three at a
time, including Corning Glass in Canton in the Building and Grounds Dept. and later in the Specialty Glass
Dept., NYS Dept. of Ag and Markets as a food inspector, Heuvelton Whey as a Lab Tech and Evaporator
Operator, Kraft Foods again as a Cheese Maker, part time for The United States Postal Service as a Rural
Carrier Associate, and Coakley Hardware as an Animal Feed Consultant. On November 5th 1981 my first
son, George Andrew Pike Caswell was born in Massena, NY. On April 29th 1984 my second son, Geoffrey
Taylor Pike Caswell was born in Syracuse, NY. To finish out my second decade after graduation, I joined
the Masons, and on May 20th 1986 I was raised a Master Mason in St. Lawrence Lodge 111 in Canton, NY.

In September of 1987 I started working for the United States Postal Service full time as a Rural Carrier
out of the Russell, NY Post Office. Also in 1987 my wife and I purchased our present home. It is the old
Raymond Bullis Farm on CR 27 (Waterman Hill Road) 5 miles out of Canton. It is known locally as
Oleoacres, one of the cheaper spreads. I raised sheep for meat for ten years, maintaining a flock of 132
ewes at one time. I switched over to meat goats and have cut way back on numbers. I now maintain a
flock of 15 La Mancha/ Boar Goat cross does. Presently I have 28 kid goats running around with their
mothers. On September 6th 1988 my third son, Geordan Nelson Pike Caswell was born in Syracuse, NY.
On December 12th 1989 my fourth child and daughter, Cassondra (Casey) Georgana Pike Caswell was
born. I became very active in the Masons and moved up through the chairs (offices) over the years
becoming Master of St. Lawrence Lodge in 1992.

Masonry became a big part of my life, and in 2005 while serving as Master of St. Lawrence Lodge 111
for the third time, I got involved in the local Boy Scout Troop that the Masons had at that time sponsored
for 75 years. I have served as the Committee Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, and presently the Chartered
Organization Representative. I am the Secretary for three of the Masonic Organizations that I am active in,
St. Lawrence Lodge 111, the Valley of Norwood, and St. Lawrence Masonic Charities.

From 2008-2010, I served as Staff Officer for the Grand Lodge of New York from the 2nd St. Lawrence
District and from 2014-2016 served as District Deputy Grand Master. In 2007 I joined the Scottish Rite
Valley of Norwood and the Valley of Syracuse becoming a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason. I have served

in all of the chairs in the local Valley, and in 2016 was awarded the Meritorious Service Award by the NY
Council of Deliberation. Last year I became a Shriner, joining the Karnak Shrine in Montreal. In 2011, I
retired from the USPS, but stay busy with Masonry, tending animals, gardening in the summer,
maintaining fences, fields, and buildings, and visiting and enjoying my grandchildren.

Thanks for trying to get in touch with me, through my brother, Don. I use my
husband's email address, as I am limited in my computing ability. I was not able to
open the spreadsheet you sent. If there are specific questions you want answered,
please send them to me.

I am married to James (Larry) Doyle, and retained my maiden name. I retired in
2011 from St. Law. Psych. Center as a psychiatric social worker at the Ogdensburg
Outpatient Mental Health Clinic. My address is 633 County Route 28A,
Ogdensburg, NY 13669.

That probably covers much of what you may want to know. I am interested in hearing about plans for a
get together. If you haven't heard from John Hill, let me know. I see him occasionally, and could give him
a phone call with your address if you like.

Hope to hear from you at some point in the future. Sally Clark

Sheila Cougler Reasoner

After graduation I went to ATC for one year. Ken and I got married in 1968 and moved to
Rochester where Ken was a student at RIT (Rochester Institute of Technology). I got a job
at RIT in the mailroom. Our son Kenny was born in 1969 and after a short maternity leave, I
transferred to the Physical Plant/Facilities Department of RIT where I was the staff
accountant for several divisions of Physical Plant. I was later promoted to Senior Staff
Accountant/Purchasing Agent; responsible for buying basically all of the nuts, bolts, paper
towels, and everything used on campus. I was also involved in issuing the purchase orders
for major constructions projects. I processed the invoices for payment thru the main RIT
accounting department and reconciled the monthly financial statements in accordance with
the RIT policies.

After about 12 years in those positions, I became aware of a job in one of the colleges of RIT—NTID (National
Technical Institute for the Deaf). I transferred to NTID as the Sr. Staff Accountant where I was responsible for
training approximately 30 budget secretaries how to keep the budget records in accordance with the federal
regulations. NTID was federally funded and their reporting system and fiscal year was different than RIT’s. I was
responsible with coordinating the closing of the books for all of the departments of NTID, totaling $40 million plus
per year.

About 15 years in this position, I started thinking about retiring. RIT’s policy said you had to be at least 50 years old
and the length of service had to total 75. Well by the time I would turn 50 in 1999, I would have worked 31 years at
RIT and would be able to retire. In 1997 I started telling people I would be retiring in 1999. Everyone said I
couldn’t retire, because they needed me to handle their accounting issues, and who would be there to solve their
problems. It was time for me to do something new. So on November 30,1999 I was officially retired and threw
myself a retirement party, a 50th birthday party and the announcing of my new business, The Shopping Genie, as a
personal shopper.

This has been my professional side for the past 50 years, so now some personal info. While Ken was still working at
RIT we both played on a campus softball co-ed league. I continued for several years after Ken left RIT. I also was
on a campus co-ed bowling league. Ken and I were on a couples bowling league. I have been a Jazzercise member
for almost 20 years, which is exercise to music. 3 nights a week. It includes cardio, strength, balance, yoga, Pilates
& kickboxing. We use exercise balls, resistance tubes and weights. It is a great workout and I have met many great
friends.

We went through some tough times in 1985 when our 16 year old son, Kenny, died from a car accident. And then in
1987 my dad died from a heart attack. We have great friends and families that were always there when we needed
them. We had that same support in 2007 when Ken’s dad died and again in 2013 when Ken’s mom died.

Our families continue to grow with nieces and nephews getting married and having babies. As The Shopping
Genie, I shop for clients who are Too Tired To Shop, or Don’t Like To Shop or have No Time To Shop. I also
shop year round for Christmas gifts for all of the nieces and nephews. On the Cougler side, I have one sister and two
brothers, 8 nieces and nephews with 6 spouses and 10 great nieces and nephews and one more due in Sept. On the
Reasoner side, Ken has three brothers and two sisters, 15 nieces and nephews, 6 spouses and 9 great nieces and
nephews and one more due in Aug. This is such great fun filling my retirement time.

As Ken has indicated in his bio we have taken some great vacations while we were both working and now that Ken’s
retirement is working in a “travel company”, we are able to travel even more. We get to Canton 2 to 3 times a year
because my mom is still there. She sold the farm and had life use of the house, but decided that she did not want to
take care of that big house about 8 years ago. She now lives in Howe’s Apartments on Judson Street. At 93 she is
doing well, but is starting to slow down. My sister and both brothers are also in the area, so when we are home, we
