During my first decade after graduating from CHS, I attended Cortland State
receiving a BS and later a Master's degree in Physical Education. I taught Physical
Education for a couple of years, along with other jobs, living in Ogdensburg, then
in the Syracuse and Cortland areas. I also did some traveling during this time with
a college friend... backpacking through Europe for a couple months in 1972 (saw
some of the Munich Olympics). Four years later I saw some of the Montreal
Olympics which was the beginning of a six week cross country trip. Shortly
afterwards I moved downstate.
While living in Dover Plains, NY, and then in New Milford, CT, I worked at a developmental center for
five years. I married in 1977 and we moved to Texas in 1981, living first in Houston, then San Antonio
and lastly, Abilene. After about four years in Texas, we moved to Liverpool, NY and have been here ever
since. I went back to teaching, but in the field of Special Education.
The decade from '87-'97 saw the birth of our daughter in 1990. We remained in Liverpool and I taught
primarily in the North Syracuse School District.
In the years '97-'07 life was fairly quiet; we were busy with work, raising our daughter and taking a few
family vacations.
In this past decade we saw our daughter graduate college and she move into her own place nearby. I retired
from the North Syracuse School District in 2012; my husband retired in 2014. We have been traveling
more, having spent some time in Florida the past three winters. We'll have enjoyed two weeks in May of
this year hiking and sightseeing in Arizona. Then, we are looking forward to snorkeling and beach walking
in Grand Cayman in September.

50 years of growth
1967 - 1977: The age of wide-eyed innocence in a big city has begun. I moved to
Poughkeepsie, New York in July, became employed by the State of New York as a
Recreational Therapist at Hudson River State Hospital. Life was very interesting,
full of challenges, excitement, love & new experiences for this shy country
bumpkin....
Purchased my 1st car (a Mustang convertible, shift on the floor & an 8 tract tape
player). I was the Queen of route 9!
Entered Dutchess Community College part time, played a level of sports never thought possible (New York
State Fast Pitch Softball Champions), got a great education, enjoyed Po-keepsie Hudson River Pete Seger
Folk concerts. Went to Woodstock on the back of a motorcycle, honing my Professional & Personal
skills....
I transferred to SUNY Brockport Summer of '71. I graduated with Honors in 1973. I seemed to handle
the transition to full time College kid with relative ease. Friends, Family, Sports & continual growth
dominated my life.
Moved to Buffalo after graduation to play fast Pitch Softball with the Buffalo Breski's; interviewed for a
Teaching job in Niagara Falls, was hired two weeks later by the City School District. I was happy, healthy,
loving life & moving up the scary ladder of growth.
Dad passed in 1974.
Even though I did my student Teaching in Rochester, teaching in this inner city environment was going to
take a lot of intestinal fortitude, strength of purpose & learning to adapt in order to be successful.
1977 - 1987: Survived the Blizzard of '77!
Transformed a VW bus/camper; was big into hiking & camping. I actually managed sections of the
Appalachian Trail. Purchased first house in Akron, NY, a log cabin; my country roots found their way
back into my life. Gardened, canned, and arts & crafts. My 2 fur babies are the loves of my life.
Continued Graduate School, Urban Education was my calling. Experienced the unpleasantness of
unemployment; what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger!
I went back into Education in 1983. Enjoyed Coaching VB, BB & SB. My class assignments have
become much more pleasant with maturity.
1987 - 1997: So many changes in personal & professional priorities. I moved from Secondary Ed. to
Elementary. Another set of challenges to conquer!! I Spent 15 wonderful years learning to communicate
with the wee ones. It took 3 years to garner the knowledge, lesson plans to memory & understanding when
a change is necessary to be successful and in control of a class of 30 energized individuals, I likened to ants
at a picnic. Lot of smiles, love, hugs, hand washing, colds, patience & discipline with kindness was who I
had evolved into. Integrating my professional area with classroom curriculum, focusing on children with
multiple challenges is purpose in life. I was meant to be where I was, in order to enhance their quality of
life.
1997 - 2007: Sold my country digs. The 2 hours of daily driving was taking its toll on this aging soul. I
was moved back to the Secondary level to assist in the closure of LaSalle Senior High School. Became the
Department Chair, and was being encouraged to enter the rheum of Administration. Gracefully declined, I
wasn't made to wear a suit & push papers. I was at my best in the midst of the classroom! It was time to
think about the last segment of my teaching career. Winter driving, early classes, late nights after coaching
were too stressful. Purchased a smaller home in N.F. & was once again where a higher power thought I
could be put to good use.
We closed LaSalle in 2000 & opened the newly constructed consolidated city wide Central High School.
Holy shit!! So many teenagers from across the City tossed into one massive structure. Kids whose family
members had been rivals forever, were expected to be integrated, function with civility & respect upon
entering that September.
Many hours of meetings, policies, expectations were met for the most part with a peaceful transition. We
were one!
I continued to co-chair this site, however, my heart was involved with my Special Needs classes. Before I
retired in 2005, I wanted to make sure the ground work was in place for these students to enjoy all that life
offered their friends.
I was working towards a doctorate. I developed specialized movement modalities, a curriculum for High
school aged students with multiple and diverse physical & psychological challenges. We participated in
the Special Olympics, climbed rock walls, went skating, camping, swam and provided an environment of
fun activities never before attempted. I was able to accomplish my goal, put a lot of smiles on the faces of
children who had few reasons to smile & memories to last me the rest of my life. In 2005 I retired from a
most enjoyable & rewarding 35 year journey through personal & professional growth and
accomplishments.
2007 - 2017: The last decade of retirement has allowed me to follow my passion for volunteering while
chipping away at the "bucket list", world travel &, even with the pitfalls, an appreciation for the way things
turned out for this upstate kid who was blessed to have been born & raised in a simpler time.
However, when life hands U lemons, U can choose to make lemonade, pies...

A lifetime ago we left behind a high school experience hopefully filled with many
delights, perhaps a few setbacks, and a set of skills and strategies to guide our
subsequent passages.
Following high school graduation, I earned a BS in elementary education
from SUNY Oswego and embarked on a 25+ year career in education. In 1976, I
married the love of my life, Tom Coseo ’66. We have three great children.
Matthew, our oldest, graduated from Colgate University and the University at
Buffalo Law School. He is chief counsel to the Saratoga County Surrogate Court Judge. He and his wife,
Mary Kate, who is a contract attorney for General Electric, have two children, Ian and Christian.
Our middle child, Mark, graduated from Cornell University. He is an orthopedic surgeon serving in
the U.S. Navy. He is currently stationed at the Portsmouth Naval Hospital, VA having previously served
tours of duty in Japan, Afghanistan, and Guantanamo Bay.
Sarah, our youngest child, also graduated from Cornell University. She completed her doctorate at
Harvard University in epidemiology and currently has a joint appointment at Harvard and Dana Farber
Cancer Institute in cancer research. She and her husband, Rob, a search consultant, have two children,
Cameron and Caroline.
I retired from teaching in 2009. Tom, who served as a superintendent of schools for 30 years,
retired in 2011. We enjoy travelling, gardening, and most of all, fulfilling our roles as “Nana and PopPop.”
Gail (McClain) & Buzzy Hill
Buzzy and I both received our education degrees (Buzzy from Canton ATC -1969
and University of Buffalo in 1971, Gail from Potsdam State in 1971).
After getting married in 1972, we made our home in Saranac Lake, NY where we
both taught school and raised our two wonderful daughters.
In 2003 we decided to leave the "frozen tundra " for a warmer climate -we moved
to The Villages, Florida where we are living the good retirement life - we spend our
days enjoying the vast number of activities provided to us in our growing
community of more than 130,000 people - all golf cart accessible.
We are blessed that our two daughters (Lisa who lives in Rochester and Amy who lives in Orlando) are
both happily married and have given us 4 wonderful grandchildren whom of course we adore.
Other than a few "old age" body repairs, we are healthy and happy and hope to continue to grow older
together.

After high school I worked at P&C for 17 years.
In 1971 I married Ronald Burns and had two beautiful daughters Hope and Jamie.
My marriage ended in divorce 9 years later.
I married Howard HASKINS in 1983.
In 1987 I went to work at EJ Noble hospital, first as the switchboard operator, then
cashier, then to billing clerk, and now switchboard-assistant cashier.
I'm still working, not sure why. I have lived in Gouverneur for the last 40 years.
I took my first airplane ride about 5 years ago. My daughter Hope and her family took us to Disney world,
and my daughter Jamie took me to Colorado to see my sister and her family. Ok that was enough flying.
It'll be the train from now on.
More or less my family has been my life. I'm a Reiki master. This has happened in the last 3 years.
Well, this is it, but I have been very blessed and happy.

Ken: I will not be able to make it North for our class reunion. I have recently had
stent surgery for blocked arteries in my legs. Thankfully everything went well and
I am on the mend now. I will try to get the bio done soon. Is it ok if I send it on an
email? I was so looking forward to seeing many classmates, but don't think the trip
would be good right now.
1967 - 1977
Graduated from Canton ATC in 1969. Moved to Syracuse to begin my career of 38
years and many moves with Mobil Oil Corporation. In 1972 I married my husband,
Carl. Funny thing is that I met him in Syracuse, while he was attending Mortuary College and he was from
Madrid.
1977 - 1987
My daughter, Caryn, was born in January 1978. Later that year my Mom passed away from cancer. To
our delight our second daughter, Melisa, was born in 1981. In 1983, the office in Syracuse merged with
the Albany office and we then moved to Albany.
1987 - 1997
Our living in Albany was short lived when the administrative functions were relocated to the Headquarters
in Fairfax, Virginia in 1988. This was a great place for history and sightseeing adventures. The weather
was terrific with little snow. We thought that this was where we would stay. My youngest daughter started
playing clarinet. I often thought how proud Mr. Baffaro would be to know my love for band had passed
down to her. In 1994, they transferred the administrative portfolio to Malvern, PA. Again we went on
another adventure.
1997 - 2007
Pennsylvania was a wonderful place to live. Again, it has great history and lots to do. In 1999 Mobil
merged with Exxon and this proved to be an education in itself. The FTC is tough with many rules. My
daughters were married and my four granddaughters were born during this time. I just cannot believe how
grandchildren change your life for the better. I thought having children was the most rewarding period of
our lives and then the grandchildren came along. We rearrange our lives just to spend time with them. In
2004, my last move with the company was Moncton, New Brunswick. I had a two year assignment to
transfer the U.S. business to Canada. That was the hardest two years of my career. Funny how I came full
circle almost, as I was back near the St. Lawrence River. In 2006 I retired and moved to Florida.
2007 - 2017
Retirement is absolutely the best job to have! I spend as much time as possible with my family and we go
on little adventures when we can. I recently had surgery and not ready yet for a trip. I will miss you all
and hope to see you next time. This bio made me realize how lucky I was to grow up in Canton. I went
down memory lane thinking of band, sand banks, cheerleading and all the good times we had. Mr Baffaro
would be proud again, as my youngest granddaughter is now playing clarinet!

After CHS I headed down to the end of my family's new home/street on the "Martin
Track" and attended Canton ATC. Two years later, in July, 1969, I took the
southern route to Syracuse to find a job. As my parents pushed me out the door, my
Mother told me "Don't accept the first job you interview for", and my Father
said "Don't go into debt and buy a car right away, Syracuse has buses." Within two
weeks I had a new job, the first one I interviewed for, and a new (used) car,
complete with car payments. I joined Patty O'Driscoll (Fisher) and two college
friends in an apartment, which led to many new friends, great times, good parties
and many wonderful memories. Syracuse has been my home ever since.
Through the ensuing years I had many addresses, roommates, cars, a number of job/employers, many
sports activities, and many great friends and good times. Most of my employment years, after starting and
ending in the Accounting field, were spent in the insurance industry, Aetna L&C, MONY, The Hartford, to
name a few, as a claims adjudicator. I resumed my love of golf and downhill skiing in Syracuse. The
skiing lead me to many winter trips out west skiing in Aspen and Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Sun
Valley, Idaho, Banff, Alberta, Canada. A racquetball, then skiing, injury resulted in a knee replacement in
January, 1997, but, I was back skiing before that winter ended.
In the 80's I spent much time traveling back and forth to Canton, as my Mother's kidneys shut down in May
of '83 and she spent the next six years struggling with dialysis and treatment in Burlington, VT and
Syracuse. She passed away in April '89, at the young age of sixty six.
When Carrier Dome opened in 1978, I got season football and basketball tickets, a number of years later
giving up football, but, still continuing my basketball season tickets, to this day. I bleed Orange! By 1989
my knee prompted the end to my downhill skiing and my winter activity was SU basketball and golf in the
summer. I coached girls little league softball for a number of years and was the Director of Athletics for
Onondaga Hill Assoc.
In 2010 I joined a national women’s golf association, EWGA, which led me to friendly, fun, competitive
golf tournaments around the US - San Diego, CA, Florida, New Hampshire, PA, Massachusetts, etc., and I
was President of our CNY Chapter for two years, 2014 - 2015. I continue as a member of the organization,
and play in three leagues.
I've had two holes-in-one, in back-to-back years.
I retired in July, 2014, and continue "working" at my pet sitting business, where I stay at client’s homes
caring for their animals, while they're away. I volunteer at St. Joseph’s Hospital in the Family Medicine
Dept., as a sort of receptionist, and at local golf tournaments. In Dec. 2014 I had a hip replacement. I've
been fortunate to do a little traveling outside the US, to Paris in 2011 and Italy in 2015. Plans are being
discussed to travel the US in an RV next year with a friend.
I feel blessed to have my health and a happy life in Syracuse, filled with many wonderful friends and
family. Our brightest star is my eighteen month old Grand Neice, Makenna, in Canton. Life is good!

1966 – Senior Year I met and went out with Sheila Cougler. I joined a Band with Dan
Dwyer, Warren Barkley, Jamie Blankman, Tom Curry and a few others who rotating in and
out. We had 3 different Band names and played a lot at St. Mary’s Gym.
1967 – Worked at Kraft Cheese and then couldn’t eat cheese for 2 years (making sure to
avoid cheese I made). Sheila got grounded after many of our late Friday dates. Used my
dad’s TV van for Saturday Class parties, like to Pyrites Flat Rock.
After Graduation, I spent more time with Sheila. In the Fall I attended RIT (Rochester
Institute of Technology) in EE (Electrical Engineering) at downtown Campus. I joined
Freshman Hockey Team. Hitched rides or took the Greyhound back to Canton every other
weekend.
1968 – I made it through all my Freshman classes, except 3rd semester Chemistry. I retook it in the summer at
Clarkson and Passed. Sheila and I dated all summer of ’68. We planned to wed in the summer of ’69.
I went back to RIT to their new Henrietta Campus. I worked for the Grounds Crew, mowing lawns and planting
trees, in between classes. I joined the Varsity Hockey Team. More Great Guys.
Sheila & I married Nov.’68 and we moved into a Rochester City apartment. Sheila worked in RIT’s Admin
Mailroom.
1969 – Hockey, Classes and Grounds Crew. Kenny Dan was born June ’69. What a joy. I got summer work at an
Industrial Laundry. Went back to RIT in the fall. Selective Service Lottery was Dec.1, ’69. Out of 365, I got
number 359. It changed my life. I called Fay Peters, who was on the Canton Draft Board, and went 1A, since I had
no chance to be drafted. At RIT I changed from Full time student to Part-time student and Full time Employee with
their Physical Plant, working on Boilers, Campus heating and air conditioning, Building Controls and Automation.
Started another season with the Hockey Team, but when I switched to Part-time student, I had to leave the Varsity
Sport. Sheila came back to work at RIT as Physical Plant Secretary. I worked days with school evenings or school
days and worked evenings or nights. RIT paid my last 3 years of school Tuition. We moved from City of Rochester
to Farmington.
1972 – Became Supervisor of Campus Building Controls and Automation. Graduated with EE and stayed another
year. Sheila became Physical Plant Purchasing Buyer. Sheila & I organized our Canton HS 5th Year Reunion.
1974 – After 5 years in Farmington, we moved to Victor. We have now been in the same home for 43 years.
Our Farmington neighbors, who we barely knew, whose kids played with Kenny, helped us move to Victor. We
shared a pizza and they invited us to be their partners in a new Bowling League. After 43 years we still go to dinner
with them and other friends every Friday. I was recruited by Johnson Controls Inc., one of the control companies
used at RIT, as their Engineering Supervisor in Rochester. I loved the work. Their headquarters are in Milwaukee,
WI. After a year I became the Engineering Manager. I designed Heating, Air Conditioning and Building
Automation for Commercial Bldgs., Hospitals and Schools. I got JCI to also move from the City to Victor.
We visited friends in LA and San Diego. Visited Las Vegas and signed up at to buy property in Florida that Ed
McMahon promoted and which hosted the ABC Superstars TV series. We still have the vacant lot in Rotonda Lakes,
FL.
Joined the Knights of Columbus and gained 60 friends. Played in the Metro Hockey League for 4 years and was
Assistant-Coach for Brighton HS Hockey for 3 years. Was the Treasurer for our winter Couple’s Bowling League
for 9 years and Treasurer for a summer men’s Softball League for 7 years. Sheila and a friend ran Bingo for the
Church for 8 years.
1985 – A buddy and I took over Bingo for the KofC, doing it for 10 years.
Kenny Dan was into boy scouts, football, baseball, paper route, church, HS Cross Country and HS Basketball. He
enjoyed making meals and worked in the kitchen at a Victor Restaurant. At 16, he was in an Auto Accident, sliding
off the road into an abutment Dec.24, dying the next day. So Sad. Sheila’s dad died two years later.
Sheila & I struggled through it. Worked a lot, but stayed close to friends
Sheila changed jobs to work at RIT’s NTID (National Technical Institute of the Deaf) as their accountant.
1986 – We started Cruising, going to Mexico and Southern Caribbean. We traveled to Hawaii, drove to Maine and
visited my 3 brothers and 2 sisters in Kentucky, Ohio, Nebraska, Virginia, and PA. We visited my folks, Sheila’s
mom, brothers and sister in Canton a few times a year. We visited cousins in the Chicago area.
We traveled to Germany, Scotland, Ireland, England and Netherlands by car or Van with friends. We’ve been on 19
Big Ship Cruises.
1999 – Sheila celebrated her 50th Birthday and Retired after 31 years at a great party.
JCI work was Very Good, working for the branch in Victor, then serving the Northeast Area of branches, and then
serving Milwaukee while staying in Victor. I finished the last 6 year in Tech Support, still in Victor, handling calls
from all over the US and Canada. I again loved it.
After 30 years at JCI and missing a second Vacation with friends, because I ran out of days, I decided it was time to
Retire. I organized the 2005 JCI Christmas Party and made it also my Retirement Party.
2006 – I had a friend struggling with a family Travel Business for Adult Groups, JR High and HS schools and
Colleges. He had no bookkeeper. I became his bookkeeper for Free and he sends me on trips that I want as the
Escort. Sheila also goes for Free. We’ve been all over.
2007 – Dad died in September and mom travelled between the kids for 6 years. She died in 2013.
After 11 years, I still enjoy the work, the family business and the travel.
We did our first River Boat Cruise with friends in the French Bordeaux Region with Uniworld and loved it better
than the Big Ship Cruises. We then did a Viking River Boat Cruise on the Rhine from Switzerland to Amsterdam.
2017 – I just finished organizing the Church’s Parish Photo Directory, so this Algonquin Reunion Yearbook was
easy.
Mike Robinson
'67-77 Went one semester at SLU and then in June of 68 enlisted in the Navy. In
August of 68 married Cheryl Coffey ( class of 68). Went to Great Lakes, Ill. for
basic training and then down to Pensacola , Fl. for class A communications
technician school.
Next stop Skaggs Island, Ca. for about one and a half years. While in California
daughter #1 (Sandra) was born in June of 69. She was born on Travis Air Force
Base and the hospital bill was a whopping $5.00, which was a lot of money for an
E3 pay.
Finally made E4, Petty Officer Third Class and didn't know what to do with all that money (oh yea, I was
married and got a kid). The next stop was back to Pensacola for a class C school. I graduated with flying
colors, but then again, so did everybody else. My Final stop was one and a half years in good ole Guam,
nice place to visit, but not to live. It was HOT and HUMID, but there were worse places to be. Daughter
#2 (Jody) was born May of '72 and she was a bit more expensive @ $7.00. I was Honorably discharged at
Treasure Island, Ca in May. Came back to Canton and have been here ever since. I worked at Gibbo's
Market for one year and at Martin's Beer Plant one year. In March of 74 was hired at Niagara Mohawk as
a meter reader.
'77-87 In 1980 got a lineman's helper job and in ‘81 got a job in the materials management dept. as a stock
handler. Bought our house in ‘86 and still there today (and Cheryl's still with me, wow).
'87-97 Still with Niagara Mohawk, but have moved up to a storekeeper A. First two granddaughters were
born during this decade. I joined the VFW golf team (aka drinking team). It was lots of fun. Spent some
of my spare time helping out at both VFW and AmVets.
'97-07 Promoted to Storekeeper B. During this decade saw grandkids popping out all over the place,
another four of them. We now have 4 granddaughters and 2 grandsons, and we spend as much time as
possible with them. Retired in 2006 at age of 57 and it's the best job I've ever had.
'07-17 Lots of hunting, fishing, golfing and traveling, life is good! Our oldest daughter lives in Gilroy,
Ca. and we try to get there at least once a year. Sometimes we fly and other times drive. I prefer driving
and take our time to see some of the sights. We've been to Mount Rushmore, Grand Teton National Park
and Yellowstone to name a few. We also like Myrtle Beach a lot and get there maybe every other year.
