37 The strategy for reducing heat without relying on energy, often referred to as "natural heat reduction" or "heat reduction through building design," prioritizes the use of natural elements within the design or concept to manage heat within a building or space without the need for mechanical or electrical systems. This approach harnesses natural factors such as ventilation, shading, thermal insulation, and heat retention to achieve a desired and comfortable temperature inside the building. Principle Local building contexts can be influenced by factors such as climate, culture, available materials, and construction practices. To gain more accurate and up-to-date information about the building context in Kaeng Koi, consider consulting with local architects, builders, or municipal authorities. 39 Local building contexts can be influenced by factors such as climate, culture, available materials, and construction practices. To gain more accurate and up-to-date information about the building context in Kaeng Koi, consider consulting with local architects, builders, or municipal authorities. Here are some general considerations that may apply to building contexts in this region. Materials and human activity Cause of heat accumulation The picture shows a table of material that accumulates heat. Heat-absorbing materials are designed to absorb and retain heat energy from various sources, such as sunlight or other heat-producing elements. These materials are commonly used in applications where heat retention or storage is desirable. Here are several types of heatabsorbing materials.

40 The architectural features and urban planning characteristics of the enchanting island of Koh Kood are defined by a diverse array of structures within the area, each varying significantly in size. The proximity of these structures has given rise to an urban architecture that is well-suited for harmonious architectural planning by the local climate. The deliberate creation of a city with narrow streets, alleyways, and winding paths aims to establish a cityscape that is conducive to comfort in high temperatures. The variations in temperature lead to changes in air pressure and airflow within the interconnected pathways of the city. Alleyway segregation prevents direct sunlight from reaching the ground surface, enhancing the overall thermal comfort of the environment. This urban design approach on Koh Kood seeks to integrate a variety of architectural elements that not only contribute to the aesthetic charm of the island but also prioritize adaptability to the unique climatic conditions. The intention is to create a city that seamlessly blends architectural diversity with thoughtful urban planning, ultimately enhancing the overall livability and sustainability of the island. 41 Solution for Kaeng Khoi Adapting a passive cooling strategy to a hot city like Kaeng Koi in Saraburi requires thoughtful consideration of the local climate, building structures, and urban layout. Here are specific strategies you can implement to enhance passive cooling in a hot city. 1.Green Spaces and Urban Vegetation:Increase the number of public parks, gardens, and trees within the city to create shading that aids in heat dissipation. •Reduce surface temperatures of concrete and asphalt by introducing greenery, ultimately decreasing the amount of heat absorbed. This approach can lead to a potential temperature reduction of up to 2 degrees Celsius in the surrounding areas. From the color diagram, it can be observed that there is an industrial area with a significant number of industrial factories in the region. This concentration of industrial facilities obstructs the wind direction, leading to the accumulation of a substantial amount of heat in the area. It is noteworthy that the industrial zone is situated in the windward direction of the municipality of Muang Kaeng Khoi, contributing to the exacerbation of hot air circulation. The picture shows Landuse of an industrial area in Kaeng Khoi. Hot air Public Space Cool air

49 ENERGY AND GREEN Kaeng Khoi District, Saraburi Province One of the important industrial sites of the capital of Thailand cement. It has the highest lime production in the country. This area is polluted by industrial estates. impact Causing companies to try to use clean energy for a better environment. So what is the right answer for using clean energy in Kaeng Khoi? What will help improve the quality of life of people in Kaeng Khoi? about Kaeng Khoi Kaeng Khaoi fresh market | Taken by Artittaya Chumchai

50 ENERGY AND GREEN Clean energy is energy that comes from renewable, zeroemission sources that do not pollute the atmosphere when used, as well as energy saved by energy efficiency measures. Clean energy can be broken down into two categories: natural energy such as wind, water, sunlight, and geothermal. Another type of clean energy is man-made energy, such as waste energy, bioenergy, and biomass energy. energy use in Kaeng Khoi Thailand has solar radiation intensity of 18.2 MJ per square meter per day and Saraburi province has an average solar radiation intensity of 18.5 mega Jules per square meter per day. This figure shows that out of all renewable energy options, Solar energy is the most efficient in generating electricity for use in Kaeng Khoi. But the survey found that in urban areas, solar panels are only used at railway junctions and installed in small numbers. Energy is an extremely important factor for human existence. Especially electric power which is a fundamental factor from the household sector, transportation sector to various industrial sectors. With the energy demand, there are more and more day by day. But the amount of that energy is limited which can run out one day or another day in the future. Therefore, clean energy is an alternative energy source that will help support the demand and need for use that will replace energy from traditional fuels. It also helps prevent various environmental problems that may occur and mitigate the effects of various pollution problems. (Association for the Development of Environmental Quality (Thailand)) So, clean energy is considered the energy of the future that will help drive this innovation district to continue sustainably.
