Listening script





Unit 1
Kabaddi is the national game of Nepal. It is a team game with seven players
in each team. Raiding and tackling are the two main skills in it and the
scores are given on the basis of these two skills. It is played in a rectangular
court. Though it is our national game we don’t have a decent record in
internationals. India does it pretty well in Kabaddi and the game is very
popular there.


Unit 2
Dipika : Hello, Dipson. What’s up? Why are you dragging your leg?
Dipson : You know, I have a cut on my left leg.
Dipika : Oh, is it? How?
Dipson : I stepped onto a knife at home.
Dipika : That’s funny! Are you taking the medicine?
Dipson : Yes, I am. The doctor says it will be alright in a few days.
Dipika : All the best!
Dipson : Thank you!


Unit 3
There are about 300 people in the village. Most of them are farmers. A
few are engaged in trade and government hob. Paddy is the main crop,
they grow. Vegetables and orange are their cash crops. Many of them keep
cattle. Cattle give them milk and manure. Some villagers sell the milk in the
nearby town.



Unit 4
At 8.30, she had milk and corn flakes.
At 9.05, she felt difficulty in breathing.
At 9.15, she was rushed to hospital.
At 9.45, she vomited blood.
At 10.35, the son came.
At 12.10, she died. The son was lucky to see her just before she died.

Unit 5
Johney : May I come in, teacher?
Teacher : Johney, you’re late again!
Johney : Sorry, teacher! I missed my bus.
Teacher : You should have come earlier.
Johney : Yes teacher. But you know the homework...
Teacher : Stop making an excuse. Not again, okay?
Johney : Yes, teacher.
Teacher : Come in and take your seat.
Johney : Thank you!


Unit 6
A good listener is always a good listener. So we should speak less and listen
more. It is good to take our turn before speaking. We must be thankful to
those who listen to us. We should feel free to ask things we don’t know. We
should also tell other what they want to know from us. Great people have a
good listening and speaking habit. They are frank too.



Unit 7
Arjun : Look at my new shirt. How is it?
Sara : Wow! It’s so beautiful.
Arjun : Thank you!
Sara : Where did you buy it?
Arjun : At ithari.
Sara : How much did you pay for it?
Arjun : The marked price was Rs. 2,200 but I paid Rs. 2000 only.
Sara : That’s a good price and you are looking smart in it.
Arjun : Really! Thank you so much.


Unit 8
Michael Phelps is the all time great swimmer. He was born on June 30, 1985.
He is a US citizen. He has a number of records in his long international career.
He has the most number of gold medals in the Olympics. In Beijing Olympics
he had alone won eight gold medals. Besides medals he has won many titles
and prizes. He stands as an icon for young athletes around the world.
