VER PARA CRER
É ver para crer. A expressão atribuída a São Tomé nos tempos em que os apóstolos ainda andavam pela Terra aplica-se por inteiro ao escrito que se segue, e muito a propósito porque de São Tomé continua a tratar-se. Diz-se que nestas terras achadas pelo homem no meio do Oceano Atlântico há quase cinco séculos e meio, exatamente no dia de São Tomé, pode encontrar-se o Paraíso. Aqui se garante que sim, que no arquipélago adequadamente batizado como de São Tomé, e também do Príncipe, há lugares que fazem parte do Paraíso. Porém, dizê-lo e escrevê-lo não basta, diria o santo e com as suas razões. Até porque as palavras são insuficientes para relatar o que está ao alcance da vista e dos outros sentidos. Por isso, é ver para crer. São Tomé e Príncipe espera-o.

SAO TOME AND PRINCIPE SEEING IS BELIEVING
Seeing is believing. The words attributed to Sao Tome in the days when the apostles still walked the Earth applies fully to the writing that follows, particularly because it is still referring to Sao Tome. It is said that in these lands found in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean for almost five and a half centuries, at the very day of Sao Tome, Paradise can be found. It is definitely guaranteed that, in fact, in the archipelago properly baptized as Sao Tome, and also Principe (Principe), there are places that are part of Paradise. Yet saying it and writing it is not enough, as the holy saint rightly said. Especially because words are insufficient to describe what is within sight and other senses. Therefore, seeing is believing. Sao Tome and Principe awaits you.

VOLTA À ILHA
A volta à ilha de barco é um dos marcos no calendário de muitos aventureiros de São Tomé e Príncipe, mas também de muitos que escolheram o país para viver ou passar merecidas férias. Realiza- da, na maioria das vezes, no primeiro fim de sema- na de Fevereiro, a volta já conta com um número considerável de participantes, muitos deles vetera- nos e outros a serem “batizados” no trajeto, que é feito em barcos de médio porte ou em jet skis.
A concentração é ao amanhecer do dia e o por- to da cidade é o ponto de partida para uma das aventuras mais cobiçadas de São Tomé. Zarpamos do porto e, logo no início da viagem, somos agra- ciados com a vista espetacular do Ilhéu das Cabras,
que nos enche de ânimo para esta tão desejada aventura.
O verde das paisagens que nos acompanham é revigorante! Há momentos em que a extensão do manto verdejante se perde por entre a tonalidade azul do mar. Os ilhéus que vão aparecendo deixam- nos com vontade de saltar do barco e permanecer ali, esquecidos à costa da ilha.
A nossa primeira paragem é depois de Gua- dalupe no caminho de Neves, onde a tripulação convida-nos a mergulhar nas águas tépidas da La- goa Azul. Seguimos, hipnotizados, e com os olhos firmes nas paisagens. Entre um balanço e outro, deliciamos uma bebida e um petisco, que estão in- cluídos no pacote desta rota inesquecível.

A segunda paragem é na Baía de São Miguel. Que lugar fantástico! Pela primeira vez durante a viagem é possível ver, de longe, uma cascata es- culpida no meio do verde. De novo, apodera-se de nós a vontade de querer ficar mas ter que partir nesta descoberta pela ilha de São Tomé.
O nosso próximo e último destino é o Ilhéu das Rolas. Nesse trajecto, o mar começa a ficar um pouco mais revolto e o balançar das ondas faz-nos querer aportar no destino final. Finalmente, chega- mos! Moradores do Ilhéu aguardam-nos com uma refrescante água de coco e um cântico acolhedor. É maravilhoso!
Recuperamos do agito do mar e conseguimos apre- ciar a belíssima vista do Resort do Grupo Pestana, onde o rústico se mistura com o moderno. É a nossa primeira paragem no Ilhéu, para repor as energias depois do
balanço das ondas, com um buffet repleto de comi- das típicas, muitas frutas e sumos de frutas da época. Depois do repasto, o convite é para uma visita à linha do Equador, paragem obrigatória. Aqui foi construído um miradouro com uma deslumbrante e panorâmica vista sobre o Ilhéu.
A noite cai e o cântico dos grilos é o nosso som de fundo, acompanhado do cantar das on- das que convida a um momento de introspecção até à hora do jantar, com menu típico e acom- panhado por uma animação musical com sons tradicionais.
No fecho desta experiência, foi eleita a nova Di- recção da Volta à Ilha 2020, que renova o convite aos aventureiros de plantão para arrumarem as malas e partirem connosco na próxima edição de- sta apaixonante volta pelos encantadores recantos de São Tomé.

ISLAND TOUR
The tour around the island by boat is one of the marks on the calendar for many adventurers in Sao Tome and Principe, but also for many who chose the country to live in, or spend a well-de- served holiday. Held, most of the time, on the first weekend of February, the trip already has a con- siderable number of participants, many of them veterans, and others to be “baptized” on the way, which is done on medium-sized boats or on jet skis.
People gather at dawn, and the port of the city is the starting point for one of Sao Tome’s most coveted adventures. We sail from the port and, at the beginning of the trip, we are graced with the spectacular view of the Ilheu das Rolas (Islet of Ro-
las), which fills us with excitement for this long- awaited adventure.
The green of the landscapes that accompany us is invigorating! There are times when the extension of the green mantle is lost among the blue tones of the sea. The islets that appear make us want to jump off the boat and stay there, forgotten off the coast of the island.
Our first stop is near to Guadalupe on the way to Neves, where the crew invites us to dive into the warm waters of the Lagoa Azul (Blue Lagoon). We continue on, hypnotized, and with eyes firmly on the landscapes. Between rocking back and forth, we delight in a drink and a snack, which are included in the package of this unforgettable route.

The second stop is in Baia de Sao Miguel (Sao Miguel Bay). What a fantastic place! For the first time during the trip it is possible to see, from afar, a waterfall carved out of the middle of the green. Again, we have the desire to stay, but we must leave this discovery on the island of Sao Tome.
Our next and final destination is the Ilheu das Rolas (Islet of Rolas). Along the way, the sea begins to get a little rougher and the rolling of the waves makes us want to land at the final destination. Fi- nally, we arrive! Natives of the Islet await us with refreshing coconut water and a welcoming song. It’s wonderful! We recovered from the bustle of the sea and managed to enjoy the beautiful view of the Pestana Group Resort, where the rustic mixes with the modern. It is our first stop on the islet, to replenish energy after the rolling waves, with a
buffet full of traditional foods, lots of fruit and sea- sonal fruit juices.
After the rest, we are invited to visit the equator line, a mandatory stop. Here, a lookout was built, with a stunning panoramic view over the islet.
Night falls and the song of crickets is in the back- ground, accompanied by the singing of the waves that invites you to a moment of introspection until dinner, with a traditional menu, accompanied by traditional musical entertainment.
At the end of this experience, the new Directorate of the Tour Around the Island 2020 was elected, which re- news the invitation to adventurers on duty to pack their bags and leave with us on the next edition of this exciting tour through the charming corners of Sao Tome. Have a good trip!

HISTÓRIA
Os primeiros seres humanos conhecidos a chegar ao arquipélago de São Tomé foram os navegadores portugueses João de Santarém e Pedro Escobar, que desembarcaram na ilha de São Tomé em 21 de Dezem- bro de 1470, no reinado de D. João II. O desembarque no Príncipe deu-se em 17 de Janeiro de 1471. Esta ilha começou por ser batizada como Santo António, desig- nação alterada pelo mesmo monarca em homenagem ao príncipe D. Afonso, seu único filho, falecido antes de ser coroado.
A colonização iniciou-se no princípio do século XVI com a chegada de portugueses proscritos e judeus castelhanos sob as ordens de Álvaro de Caminha e An- tónio Carneiro, com o objectivo de introduzirem o cul- tivo da cana-de-açúcar. São Tomé tornou-se o principal exportador africano desse produto ainda no mesmo século. A produção desenvolveu-se através da impor- tação de mão-de-obra escrava de Angola, Cabo Verde e outros territórios africanos, e também do Brasil.
Levantamentos de escravos contra as condições a que eram submetidos – ficou nos anais o coman-

dado pelo rei Amador em 1595 – determinaram a emigração gradual de numerosos colonos para o Brasil, afectando a economia da região. Piratas e corsários holandeses apoderaram-se do Arqui- pélago entre 1641 e 1648, até que Portugal reto- mou o controlo sobre as ilhas.
No início do século XIX, João Maria de Sousa e Al- meida, um rico proprietário de São Tomé, introduziu na ilha a cultura do cacaueiro, planta importada do Brasil. Conhecido como o “Primeiro Barão da Roça de Água Izé”, Sousa e Almeida iniciou assim o ciclo económico do cacau e do café, que viria a dominar toda a economia da última fase do período colo- nial. A população foi reforçada com mão-de-obra contratada em outras colónias portuguesas como Angola, Cabo Verde e Moçambique em condições muitas vezes ultrajantes e que estiveram na origem de numerosos levantamentos, sempre reprimidos pelos instrumentos políticos coloniais. No início da Primeira Guerra Mundial, São Tomé era um dos prin- cipais produtores mundiais de cacau.
No início dos anos cinquenta do século passado as autoridades coloniais portuguesas voltaram a
tentar reforçar os mecanismos de exploração em regime de monocultura através do recurso a mão- de-obra forçada, reprimida e escravizada, métodos de que ficou como exemplo mais flagrante o mas- sacre de Batepá de 3 de Fevereiro de 1953, cujo principal responsável direto foi o governador Carlos Gorgulho.
A partir dos anos sessenta, o início da luta ar- mada pela independência em Angola, Moçam- bique e Guiné-Bissau encorajou o movimento pela independência em São Tomé, primeiro através da criação do Comité de Libertação de São Tomé e Prín- cipe, depois transformado em Movimento de Liber- tação de São Tomé e Príncipe (MLSTP), que assinou em Argel o acordo de autodeterminação com as autoridades portuguesas saídas da Revolução de 25 de Abril de 1974. Este passo abriu o caminho para a independência, celebrada a 12 de Julho de 1975.
Manuel Pinto da Costa foi o primeiro chefe de Estado, cargo que voltou a ocupar na sequência das eleições presidenciais de 2011, sucedendo a Miguel Trovoada e Fradique de Menezes.

HISTORY
The first humans known to reach the Sao Tome archipelago were the Portuguese naviga- tors João de Santarém and Pedro Escobar, who landed on the island of São Tomé on December 21, 1470, during the reign of King John II. The landing at Príncipe took place on January 17, 1471. This island was initially named as Santo Antonio, a name that was changed by the same monarch in honor of Principe Afonso, his only son, who died before he was crowned.
Colonization began in the early sixteenth cen- tury with the arrival of Portuguese and Castilian Jews proscribed under Alvaro de Caminha and António Carneiro orders, in order to introduce the cultivation of sugar cane. Sao Tome became the
largest African exporter of this product still in the same century. The production was developed by importing slave labor from Angola, Cabo Verde and other African territories, as well as from Brazil.
Uprisings of slaves against the conditions to which they were submitted – the one led by king Amador in 1595 is written down in the an- nals of history - led to the gradual emigration of many settlers to Brazil, affecting the region’s economy. Pirates and Dutch corsairs seized the archipelago between 1641 and 1648, until Por- tugal took control of the islands.
In the early nineteenth century, João Maria de Sousa e Almeida, a wealthy land owner of Sao Tome, introduced cacao culture on the island, a plant imported from Brazil. Known as the “First Baron of Roça de Água Izé” (Agua Izé Planta-

tion), Sousa e Almeida began in this manner the economic cycle of cocoa and coffee, which was to dominate the entire economy of the last phase of the colonial period. The population was increased with labor force contracted in other Portuguese colonies such as Angola, Cabo Verde and Mozambique in often outrageous condi- tions that led to numerous uprisings, always repressed by the colonial policy instruments. At the beginning of World War I, Sao Tome was one of the main world producers of cocoa.
In the early fifties of the last century, the Portuguese colonial authorities tried again to strengthen the op- erating mechanisms in monocultures through the use of labor forced, repressed and enslaved, methods amongst which the massacre of Batepá of February 3, 1953, is mostly remembered, hav-
ing Governor Carlos Gorgulho been directly re- sponsible for it. From the sixties, the beginning of the armed struggle for independence in Angola, Mozambique and Guinea-Bissau encouraged the independence movement in Sao Tome, first through the establishment of Sao Tome and Prin- cipe Liberation Committee, later on transformed into Liberation Movement of Sao Tome and Principe (MLSTP), that signed in Algiers the self- determination agreement with the Portuguese authorities after the 25th April 1974 Revolution. This event paved the way for independence, cel- ebrated on July 12, 1975.
Manuel Pinto da Costa was the first Head of State, a position he was reconducted to after the presidential elections of 2011, succeeding Miguel Trovoada and Fradique de Menezes.

O Parlamento é unicameral, a Assembleia Nacional, com 55 membros. A Constituição mais recente data de 2003. A Ilha de São Tomé divide-se em seis distritos: Água Grande, Cantagalo, Caué, Lembá, Lobata e Mé-Zóchi.
Região Autónoma do Príncipe é o distrito único da Ilha do Príncipe.
A capital do País é a cidade de São Tomé; a ci- dade de Santo António é a capital do Príncipe.
O Príncipe é uma Região Autónoma desde 1995.

The government and the political system of the Republic is semi-presidential and a representative democracy, with a President and a Prime Minister as head of government. The Parliament is unicam- eral, the National Assembly, with 55 members. The latest Constitution is dated of 2003.
The island of São Tomé is divided into six dis- tricts: Água Grande, Cantagalo, Caué, Lembá, Lo- bata e Mé-Zóchi.
Pagué is the only district of the Island of Prin- cipe.
The country’s capital is the city of São Tome; the city of Santo Antonio is the capital of the island of Príncipe.
Principe is an Autonomous Region since 1995.

GEOGRAPHY AND LOCATION
The archipelago of São Tome and Principe is com- prised of two main islands - São Tome and Principe - and about a dozen islets, including the Cabras, Santana, Rolas, crossed by the Equador line, Sete Pedras, Cocos, Jalé, Catarino, Quixibá, Gabado and Coracora associated with the island of São Tomé. The islets of Bom Bom, Portinho, Boné de Jóquei, Mosteiros, Caroço, Tinhosa Grande and Tinhosa Pequena are located around the Island of Principe. The archipelago resulted from volcanic eruptions in underwater platforms and has a total area of 1001 square kilometers, in the Atlantic Ocean.
São Tome and Principe is located in the Gulf of Guinea about 300 kilometers from the west coast of Africa. The island of São Tome has an area of 859 square kilometers, with 65 kilometers in length and 35 kilometers at its widest point. The orographic features of the land and the country’s location next to the equatorial line pro- vide impressive and strikingly beautiful scenery with lush vegetation distributed by valleys, some of them very rough, crossed by numerous rivers and streams. Pico of São Tomé (São Tomé Peak) is the highest point of the archipelago, with 2014 meters height.
São Tome and Principe is the second smallest African nation in the region, after the Seychelles.
POPULAÇÃO
São Tomé e Príncipe tem uma população de 197.700 habitantes (156,84 habitantes por quiló- metro quadrado), de acordo com o censo de 2017.
A população de S. Tomé e Príncipe resulta de uma mescla de descendentes de escravos, de tra- balhadores contratados em outras regiões de Áfri-
ca e de colonos europeus, sobretudo portugueses. Estes grupos deram origem a uma população com enorme riqueza e diversidade cultural.

The population of São Tome and Principe is of 197.700 inhabitants (156.84 inhabitants per square kilometer), according to the 2017 census.
The population of Sao Tome and Principe is the result of a mixture of descendants of slaves, work- ers hired in other parts of Africa and European set- tlers, mainly Portuguese. These groups gave rise to a population with remarkable cultural richness and diversity.
About half of the archipelago’s population lives in the city of Sao Tome.

CLIMA E VESTUÁRIO
O clima é tropical húmido. As tempera-turas variam entre 21oC e 30oC, com frequentes precipi- tações sobretudo no sul da ilha de S. Tomé e no Príncipe. Existem duas estações climáticas: a seca, entre os meses de Junho e Agosto, conhecida por gravana; e a estação da chuva, nos restantes me- ses. Ao longo do ano há em média 1760 horas de sol, valor que desce para 1300 horas entre 500 a 1000 metros de altitude.
A orografia montanhosa do território proporciona vários microclimas. As zonas mais elevadas têm uma grande pluviosidade podendo atingir 7 000 milímetros, enquanto as zonas baixas, sobretudo na região Norte e Nordeste de São Tomé, registam menos chuvas, que podem ser inferiores a 1000 milímetros anuais.
O vestuário comum no país é informal e leve. T-shirts e roupas de algodão são recomendáveis.
CLIMATE AND CLOTHING
The climate is tropical and humid. Temperatures range between 21oC and 27oC, with frequent rainfall especially in the south of the island of Sao Tome and Principe. There are two seasons: the dry season, between the months of June and August, known as gravana; and the rainy season, in the remaining months. Throughout the year, there is on average 1760 hours of sunshine, a figure that drops to 1300 hours at 500-1000 meters high.
The mountainous orographic feature of the territory provides a variety of microclimates. The higher areas have more rainfall which may reach 7000 mm, while the low-lying areas, especially in the North and Northeast of São Tomé, there is less rainfall, which can be less than 1000 mm per year.
The common clothing in the country is casual and light. T-shirts and cotton clothes are recom- mended.
FORMALIDADES PARA O VISITANTE
Nem todos os cidadãos necessitam de obter obrigatoriamente visto para visitar o país. Nomea- damente, os cidadãos portugueses com estadia in- ferior a quinze dias não necessitam de visto. Caso não exista consulado pode requerer uma Autoriza- ção de Entrada junto do SMF (Serviço de Migra- ção e Fronteira) através do email [email protected] (sete dias úteis para obtenção de resposta).
De acordo com o Despacho Conjunto no 1 D.R. no 117, de Outubro de 2011, o preço do Visto de Entrada em São Tomé e Príncipe é de 490 STN (Do- bras de São Tomé e Príncipe, cerca de 20 euros). As crianças pagam metade. Todo o pagamento feito na Fronteira deverá ter um comprovativo.
Na fronteira o visitante deve apresentar prova de que possui bilhete de ida e volta e comprovar uma quantia de subsistência de 100 euros diários.

PROCEDURES FOR THE VISITOR
Not all citizens need to obtain a visa to visit the country. For example, Portuguese citizens with a stay of less than fifteen days do not need a visa.
If there is no Consulate, the visitor may require an Entry Permit at the SMF (Immigration Border Services) through e-mail at [email protected] (se- ven working days to get a response).
According to the Joint Order No. 1 D.R. nr. 117, of October 2011, the price for an Entry Visa in São Tome and Principe is 490 000 STD (four hundred and ninety thousand São Tome and Principe Dobras, equivalent to 20 euros). Children pay half of this amount. All payments made on the border must have a receipt.
At the border the visitor must provide proof that he/she has a return ticket as well as of an amount available for subsistence equivalent to 100 euros per day.

Não compre as aves, sobretudo papagaios, que habitantes das ilhas possam tentar comercializar; É expressamente proibida a compra de aves e arte- sanato a partir de carcaças de tartarugas;
Em vez de distribuir doces e brinquedos às cri- anças nas comunidades, faça doações colectivas, aproximando-se das escolas, creches e associações de moradores;
Respeite as tradições do povo são-tomense;
Privilegie os produtos e serviços locais; o arte- sanato são-tomense é rico e diversificado, vá ao encontro dos artesãos e artistas.
Tome as precauções próprias de uma viagem para um clima diferente daquele a que está ha- bituado. A proteção da cabeça é recomendável, tal como o protetor solar. Os repelentes devem fazer parte da bagagem, sobretudo se pretender deslocar-se a regiões do interior das ilhas, onde a vegetação é mais intensa. Não esqueça os medica- mentos pessoais de uso comum.

Respect the traditions of São Tome’s people; Favor local products and services; São Tome crafts is rich and diverse, look for the national artisans and artists.
Take your own precautions adequate to a trip to a climate different from one that you are used to. Pro- tecting your head with a hat is as important as using sunscreen. Repellents should be part of the luggage, especially if you want to visit the interior regions of the islands, where vegetation is more intense. Do not forget to take your personal medicines.

STP Airways, the national airline of Sao Tome, flies on Fridays between Lisbon and Sao Tome. The return trip is on Saturdays. People who arrived from Cabo Verde, Angola, Mozambique, adjacent re- gions of the Gulf of Guinea, Brazil, Portugal but also of Castile, some to be masters, others to be slaves, who, together, ended up car-ving the coun- try that is now São Tome and Principe, unique, personalized, looking forward with confidence and creativity, united in its differences. There is still a tough road ahead to combat illiteracy, to realize the aspirations of the whole population, but the country has the collective essence to achieve those objectives dreamed up by Alda do Espírito Santo, a writer, and the first Minister of Education who wove with her talent examples of the multiform cultural web of the independent and sovereign São Tomé and Príncipe.
DANÇAS
A dança é uma das expressões culturais mais amadas pelo povo de São Tomé e Príncipe. As noites equatoriais, principalmente aos fins-de- semana, são marcadas pelas explosões dos ritmos africanos e dos corpos, seduzindo inapelavelmente os visitantes.
Os ritmos musicais e as danças de São Tomé e Príncipe refletem as múltiplas influências das várias origens africanas, e não só, do seu povo. Muito em voga nas discotecas continua a “kadance”, a par da tarraxinha, considerada específica do Ar- quipélago.
Mas são muitos os outros ritmos que inundam a noite, noite tantas vezes universalizada pelo con- vívio com os viajantes, e que podem ser a puíta, o funaná, o kuduro, a kizomba, dombolô, kuassa- kuassa, reguê (reggae), pop e rap. Fora das discote- cas conservam-se raízes culturais mais profundas, associadas a rituais de génese tribal como a ússua, o socopé, o bulawê e a danço-congo, considerada a mais genuína e africana, dançada com emocio- nante envolvimento pelos Angolares.

equatorial nights, especially at the weekends, are marked by explosions of African rhythms and bo- dies, hopelessly enticing visitors.
The musical rhythms and dances of Sao Tome and Principe reflect the multiple influences of various African origins of its people, and beyond. “kadance” continues to be the most favorite rhythm played in the discos, alongside “tarraxi- nha” deemed to be specific for the Archipelago. But there are many other rhythms that inundate the nights, and often universalized through contact with visitors, namely puíta, funaná, kuduro, the Kizomba, dombolo, kuassa-kuassa, reggae, pop and rap music.
Outside the Discos, deeper cultural roots are conserved, associated with tribal rituals such as ússua, socopé and danço-congo, deemed as the most genuine and African, danced with exciting involvement by the Angolares.
AUTO DE FLORIPES
A ilha do Príncipe tem igualmente o seu auto inspirado na temática carolíngia e as lutas entre mouros e cristãos de que estes saem sempre vence- dores: o Auto de Floripes, representado em 15 de Agosto, dia de São Lourenço. A declamação chega a prolongar-se por 12 horas ou mais e decorre em terreiro ao ar livre, interpretada igualmente por atores rigorosamente caracterizados.
O Auto de Floripes tem origem europeia, inseri- da no remoto espírito medieval do “maravilhoso carolíngio”, supondo-se que a versão santomense tenha sido inspirada nas representações em Trás- os-Montes e levada para o Príncipe no séc. XIX, já na época da cultura do cacau, portanto bastante mais tarde do que o seu congénere “Tchiloli” na ilha de São Tomé.
AUTO OF FLORIPES
The island of Principe also has its play inspired by the Carolingian theme and the struggles be- tween Moors and Christians, of which the latter were always the winners: the Auto of Floripes, played on August 15, on the day of celebration of Saint Lawrence. The recitation lasts for 12 hours or more on a plantation, in the open, and
is played by rigorously dressed up actors. The Auto Floripes is of European origin, set in the remote medieval spirit of the “wonderful Caro- lingian”, with the assumptions that the São Tome version of the play was inspired by the represen- tations made in Tras-os-Montes and brought to Principe in the nineteenth century, already at the time of the cacao culture, thus introduced much later than its counterpart “Tchiloli” on the island of São Tome.

São Tomé e Príncipe é um território privilegiado para os amantes do mergulho, sejam experientes ou iniciados. Há excelentes possibilidades para todos, únicas mesmo, porque estamos em pleno Atlântico e temos ao nosso dispor as águas mais transparentes e límpidas de todo o Golfo da Guiné. Caracterizados por um relevo bastante acidentado, os fundos marinhos oferecem uma grande varie- dade de configurações, tanto a 10 metros como a 50, com recifes, paredões, cavernas e outras curiosidades submarinas. Relativamente preser- vada, a biodiversidade marinha é rica em espécies emblemáticas do Atlântico, tais como tartarugas, golfinhos, baleias ou tubarão-baleia. A plataforma
insular em volta da ilha é reduzida, colocando os mergulhadores diretamente em contacto com as espécies pelágicas como atum, corcovado, olho- grosso ou wahoo, além das espécies de águas profundas como pargo luciano, badejo, raia, peixe trombeta, entre outras.
São Tome and Principe is a privileged area for div- ing enthusiasts, whether experienced or beginners. There are excellent possibilities for everyone, even unique, because we are in the middle of the Atlan- tic and we have at our disposal the most transpar- ent and clear waters of the whole Gulf of Guinea. Characterized by a very rugged topography, the seabed offer a wide variety of settings, both at 10 meters and at 50 meters, with reefs, cliffs, caves and other underwater curiosities. Relatively un- spoilt, marine biodiversity is rich in iconic species of the Atlantic, such as turtles, dolphins, whales or whale shark.
