Message from the Member of Parliament Julie Dzerowicz
I am delighted to extend my greetings to all those participating in Season 15 of The Long &
McQuade Singing Contest. It took a lot of determination, love and creativity during these
unprecedented times to find a safe way for the show to go on!
As the Member of Parliament for Davenport, I am proud to represent the largest Portuguese
community in Canada and would like to extend my profound congratulations to John Santos for his
leadership and vision, his wife Lisa and the many volunteers for making this event possible. It’s a
wonderful opportunity for those from all backgrounds to showcase their talent in a welcoming,
supportive, and festive atmosphere and a testament of the strong multicultural fabric of Canada.
The Singing Contest continues to grow and expand in popularity, from its humble beginnings
rooted in the Portuguese community into an amazing platform for beginners and experienced
singers to introduce themselves not only to Toronto but to all of Canada.
I also want to extend my deepest thanks to Long & McQuade and OMNI Television for their
partnership and invaluable support. Events that showcase and promote new and emerging
Canadian artists can only happen with your generosity and kindness.
Finally, a heartfelt congratulations to all the talented, courageous, and dedicated singers who made it
this far and best of luck in the finale! Every day you put yourself forward to do something difficult
or challenging or out of your comfort zone – you win. You move closer to achieving your potential
and your dreams.
Best wishes for a successful and memorable event, and I look forward to seeing you all in person
next year!
My very best regards,
