An Analysis of Traditional Malay Architecture in Disaster Management Through the Lens of Islam Sharika Tasnim International Islamic University Malaysia [email protected] According to the Holy Quran, the three terminologies that typify disaster are musibah, bala, and azab. Islam allows the application of science to disaster risk reduction. Moreover, humans need to be prepared with relevant knowledge in a disaster. Al-Ilmu (knowledge), ikhtiar (effort), and tawakkul (trust in God) are three fundamental Islamic notions for minimizing disaster risk. A practical guide for disaster readiness may be found in the Qur'anic account of Noah. Based on the verse's interpretation, God instructed Noah to prepare for the coming adversity that would destroy his homeland. The order might suggest that humankind should work together to lessen the damage of disaster. Among all the natural disasters, flood is the most frequent natural disaster in Malaysia, recording the highest losses. The concept of Traditional Malay houses in Malaysia was generated from communities who settled along river banks. This is because rivers and their tributaries served as crucial transportation routes in the past. Therefore, communities were innovative in design strategies to protect from floods. The paper offers a detailed investigation of the architectural characteristics of Traditional Malay houses in adapting to flood hazards through the lens of Islam. The content of secondary works from print and online sources and studies are evaluated for this research using a qualitative research methodology. In addition, to acquire thorough and trustworthy information, expert opinions are considered through semi-structured questions. From the research findings, using Traditional Malay architectural concepts is a good approach through the lens of Islam. This is because the houses are built on stilts could be more advantageous to protect people from floods. Nevertheless, such architectural features are rarely incorporated while building a house in a flood-prone location. Hence, it is significant to highlight the implementation of the traditional Malay house's architectural principles to further this research.

Autobiographical Memory, Personality Traits and Spiritual Well-Being in Malaysian Muslim Young Adults Sofiah Atiqah International Islamic University Malaysia [email protected] Autobiographical memory (AM) is highly important in the maintenance of psychological health and well-being, as higher use of AM to serve self, directive and social functions are significantly related to higher levels of psychological well-being. However, the literature examining the AM in relation with spiritual well-being (SWB) is scarce, particularly in relation to the individual differences of personality traits that may potentially influence the relationship. The present study seeks to be the first to examine the relationship between autobiographical memory, personality traits, and spiritual well-being among Malaysian Muslim young adults (N=112). Participants were asked to retrieve three selfdefining memories and rate the significance and emotional valence of each memory, alongside questionnaires examining their functional use of AM, Big 5 personality traits, and SWB. Results revealed that individuals who retrieved more positive memories have higher SWB. Furthermore, individuals with higher levels of extraversion, agreeableness and conscientiousness, as well as lower levels of neuroticism, were also found to have higher SWB. Nevertheless, the moderating effects of personality traits in the relationship between AM valence and SWB were found to be non-significant. The field of AM and SWB is still in its infancy, and there is much to explore with regards to emotions, AM, SWB, and the potential role that personality traits may play. Theoretical and clinical implications of these findings as well as future recommendations for further research are discussed.

Development and User Engagements of Integrated Islamic Psychospiritual Program (i-ACT For Life) Mobile Application for Management of Psychological Distress Dr. Jamilah Hanum Abdul Khaiyom, Amani Fadzlina Abdul Aziz, Dr. Ahmad Nabil Md. Rosli, Dr. Che Amnah Bahari, Dr. Nur Sakinah Thomas Abdullah International Islamic University Malaysia Al-Madinah International University [email protected] Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic has challenged the ways of modern healthcare delivery, and remote methods of delivering evidence-based mental healthcare are more important now. Digital mental health interventions can reduce cost, transcend physical limits, and increase flexibility and autonomy of users, making its use arguably vital in managing the mental health impact of the pandemic. Objective: The study elaborates the development and user engagements of i-ACT for Life, a mobile application of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)-integrated with Islamic spiritual strategies for management of psychological distress. Method: The mobile application i-ACT For Life was developed based on the cloud-based instant messaging i-ACT for Life program that has been tested for its effectiveness. The program comprises five weekly modules, each corresponded to an ACT core process and was supplemented with Qur’ānic verses, Hadīth, and religious/spiritual activities. The micro-contents were designed in infographic format, 7 interactive exercises, 11 audio exercises, and 7 psychoeducation videos. The users are encouraged to take Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale-21 items (DASS-21) before and after the program. The current mobile application is integrated as part of Selangor Mental Sihat (SEHAT), a comprehensive mental health application involving mental health awareness, literacy, screening, early intervention, and subsidized psychiatric intervention sponsored and managed by Selangor state government. Results: i-ACT for Life mobile application was live in SEHAT since October 2022. As of May 2023, the number of users for SEHAT and i-ACT for Life is 94,523 and 9,445 (9.99%), respectively. 10/14 people complete the program between 5 and 6 weeks. In terms of outcome measure, 4/14 users (i.e., completers) completed both the pre- and post-DASS21. Conclusions: The total number of engagements suggests that the i-ACT for Life mobile application is accessible for the users. However, sustainability of user engagements needs to be improved by increase promotion of the program.

Development of Situational Judgement Tests Items Using the Fuzzy Delphi Method Azad Iqram Nadmilail, Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohd Effendi @ Ewan Mohd Matore, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siti Mistima Maat Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia [email protected] Situational Judgement Tests (SJTs) are known as a measurement method to evaluate respondents’ views or interpretations of the work-related environment that reflects the actual work scenario. In fact, SJTs also a psychological measurement that hypothetically highlight a variety of situations to test candidates who are able to describe a variety of constructs as appropriate. Several studies have used face-to face discussion and in-depth interviews to construct SJTs items. However, both methods have lack of implementations. Face-to-face discussion and in-depth interviews pose biases, lack standardization in terms of the process and criteria used, as well as can be time consuming and resource intensive. Therefore, the Fuzzy Delphi Method (FDM) is used to overcome those deficiencies and gaps. FDM can reach a consensus among the expert panel and allows for flexibility in ratings, rankings and feedback. Most academics employ FDM's seven steps. For a more organized and systematic implementation, this innovation uses nine steps includes (1) identify constructs, (2) selection of experts, (3) SJTs item development by experts, (4) rating items by experts, (5) convert likert scale to fuzzy scale, (6) obtain triangular fuzzy number of threshold value, (7) obtain triangular fuzzy number of percentage experts’ agreement which a total of five items that obtained a threshold value of less than 0.2 and did not reach at least 75% expert agreement were eliminated, (8) defuzzification process to obtain fuzzy score value and (9) finalize selected SJTs items. FDM leads consensus building, flexibility in rating and capturing diverse perception from experts. Thus, FDM can be implemented online for efficiency and cost effectiveness, as well as reducing the potential for biases and subjectivity.

Development of the MindCARE Module: Psychological Intervention on Stress Reduction Among Teachers from Rural Areas Ega Asnatasia Maharani Ahmad Dahlan University [email protected] This study aims to evaluate the development of MindCARE (Mindfulness for Compassion and Relieve Stress) module to reduce stress and improve psychological well-being among teachers. The MindCARE module was designed based on the mindfulness-based stress reduction protocol, with Islamic spiritual elements added to accommodate the socioreligious context of the local community. According to the literature review, there is a scarcity of published research on teacher stress in rural areas of Indonesia and how to manage it using strategies from standardised protocols. To develop the module, the researcher used the Sidek Module Development Model. The content validity was assessed by subject matter experts (SME) thoroughly. There are two reliability methods that were conducted, namely face validity and content validity from external critics. Seven expert panels were appointed based on their expertise and experiences in Mindfulness approach and module development process to determine the level of this MindCARE content. The seven experts consist of four people with academic backgrounds from four universities in Indonesia and Malaysia (UAD, UPI, UNDIKSHA, Monash University) and three certified mindfulness practitioners with more than 5 years of experience. They work through the initial draft independently to maintain objectivity. The evaluation scale consists of a seventeen point satisfaction scale with options ranging from 1 (Strongly disagree) to 5 (Strongly agree). The four aspects that become the assessment criteria are: module objectives, module content, format and language, and module usage. In addition, some experts made several suggestions to enhance the module's syntax, sentence structure, and terminology, as well as its overall structure.

Empowering the Wellbeing of Muslim Parents having Children with Autism through Biopsychosocial-spiritual Coping Siti Patonah, M., Yakub@ Zulkifli, M.Y., Durriyyah Sharifah, H.A., Golden, K.J. Universiti Malaya Monash University [email protected] Awareness about autism is progressively on the rise; many initiatives from various parties have been raised to ensure person with autism (PWA) is given the proper attention. Currently, autism is grouped under the category of learning disabilities in Malaysia together with Down’s Syndrome, Global Developmental Delay (GDD), Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD), Specific Learning Disability (SLD) and Intellectual problem. Although learning problem is part of their syndrome, behaviour issue is the most significant problem that affects the mental health of parents/ caregivers of PWAs compared to those of atypical children or person with other disabilities. PWAs are reported to frequently have bad tantrum, aggressive tendency, and being oversensitive to noise, crowds or unfamiliar space. PWAs also have difficulties in maintaining their social interaction and communication. Thus, caring and raising PWA with these symptoms throughout his/her lifespan has additional challenges. Meanwhile, enabling a balanced lifestyle of parents of PWAs is critical in maintaining their well-being. A holistic coping, which integrates aspects of biological factors (physical/ physiological), psychological factors (mental/ emotion), social factors (environment) and spiritual factors (soul), would be ideal for good quality of life of the parents. Study used a mixedmethod, sequential, explanatory research design in exploring the complex, dynamic process of coping and its impact on the wellbeing of Muslim parents of PWA. The quantitative phase involved 49 parents (40 mothers and 9 fathers, Mparentage=41.10 years; Mchildage=11.03 years). The study identified (a) the demographic of the parents and explained the significance of demographic difference on parental stress, quality of life and parental spiritual level, (b) the relationship between parental stress, quality of life and spiritual condition, and (c) coping strategies implemented by Muslim parents of PWAs in addressing stress/ conflict. In conclusion, a biopsychosocial-spiritual model of coping is proposed for Muslim parents of PWAs.

Error Analysis on Undergraduate Theses in IIUM Dr. Homam Altabaa, Norsyazwina Zulkifli International Islamic University Malaysia [email protected] This study is an Error Analysis (EA) of written dissertations by undergraduates from the English Language and Literature major in IIUM. It aims to uncover the most common errors in the writings of students to enable them to identify and remedy these errors. Despite the abundance of studies on EA conducted with multiple samples and backgrounds, only a handful of studies concerning EA can be found and accessed in a Malaysian context. Thus, this study uncovers the most common errors committed by ESL tertiary scholars in Malaysia, focusing on their theses that adhered strictly to academic writing standards. Using Stephen Pit Corder’s EA framework, a qualitative approach was employed to find the errors in the written samples. Additionally, this research also incorporated Lunsford & Connors’s study in 1988, which is then compared and contrasted with Malaysian-based articles and with insights of specialists to find the classification of the most frequent errors that will be more suitable to be adapted for Malaysian language learners. These views were collected through interview sessions with English Language and Literature lecturers. The results of the study indicate that the most common errors are word choice, punctuation, preposition, plurality, verb, article, pronoun, ambiguity, and subject-verb agreement. Therefore, this paper has contributed to Error Analysis in theses which will benefit language learners and educators, including researchers who are interested in the Second Language Acquisition (SLA) field.

All the factors mentioned are expected to contribute to the development of religious identity among college students in Malaysia, but spiritual struggle and crisis are expected to play a particularly significant role in shaping identity. Overall, this study highlights the complexity of religious identity formation among college students and emphasis the need for holistic approach to studying this phenomenon. The findings provide a framework for interventions that consider the impact of psychological, social, environmental, and spiritual factors on religious identities unique to Malaysian college students.

Learning Arabic Prosody: The Fun Way Through Malay Songs Dr. Nursafira Lubis Safian International Islamic University Malaysia [email protected] Many students find it difficult to learn the Arabic prosody (al-‘Arudh) and some were even alienated from it due to their inability to attribute poetic meters in Arabic poetry. This study aims to expose the difficulties experienced by students in terms of studying Arabic prosody, and then identify the solutions to overcome those difficulties, in addition revealing the extent of Malay musical melodies used in learning the poetic meters in an easier way. This study also aims to assist the students in reciting Arabic poems correctly and to help them learn Arabic prosody delightfully. By using the qualitative method, semistructured interviews were conducted for the process of collecting data and important information. Ten Malaysian students majoring in the Arabic language and literature from International Islamic University Malaysia participated in this study. This study concludes that the problems faced by the students in learning Arabic prosody are related to the students' aversion to the subject. Among the most important solutions to overcome difficulties in learning Arabic prosody are teaching the subject using musical tunes that fit with the poetic meters, creating an interactive environment between two parties i.e., students and instructor in the classrooms. This research found that the Malay musical rhythms such as “Aci aci buka pintu” and “Ikan kekek mak iloi-iloi” could be a useful educational teaching material to help learn Arabic poetry since these kinds of melodies are familiar to Malay learners. By using this approach, the students pay more attention in learning Arabic prosody, hence they could understand the course in a more effective way.

Managing Organisational Change: The Role of Polyphony Noor Khairin Nawwarah Khalid, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aini Maznina A.Manaf International Islamic University Malaysia [email protected] Despite the profound impact of polyphonic practices in helping leaders and organisational members to achieve a successful organisational change effort, many organisations are still unable to engage in excellent change communication activities. As such, the organisations will face difficulties in achieving their short and long-term goals, create more misunderstandings among employees, and diminish both employees and customers’ trusts. Previous research studies have also progressively highlighted cultural factors has been one of the influential factors that affect the communication behaviours of organisational members and leaders during change. Since research that focuses on middle managers’ polyphony practices especially those in a collectivistic society has been minimal, this research was conducted to examine how polyphonism is practiced by the studied organisation during organisational change. Using middle managers’ conversations on emotional reflexivity during change, this research was conducted to obtain a rich understanding on the studied phenomenon. Communicative Constitution of Organisations the Montreal School (CCO TMS) of Organisational Communication theory was used to guide the present research and semi-structured in-depth interviews with thirty middle managers of a Malaysian organisation were carried out. The data was analysed using thematic analysis. The data revealed polyphony is strongly enforced by the respondents and their leaders through five steps of practice: mutual recognition, mutual trust, dialogic sessions, mutual understanding, and mutual agreement. The respondents also acted as polyphonous leaders: leader and decision maker of subordinates’ interactions, and leader for ideas’ diversity. The themes also reflected the emotional reflexivity practiced by the respondents which are self-consciousness, empathy, self-control, motivation and social skills. This research helped to contribute new traits to the unique face of Malaysians’ identities. It also shows the importance in attending to middle managers’ conversations on change since middle managers’ acceptance towards change are being influenced from their emotional reflexivity and organisation’s polyphony practice.

Module Development and Content Validation of Islamic Psychology of Self (IPS) Noraini Abdul Wahab, Jamilah Hanum Abdul Khaiyom International Islamic University Malaysia [email protected] Background. Singaporean Malays are dedicated to practising their Islamic beliefs and customs but face challenges regarding identity, social relevance, employability, and economic stability. 79% of Muslim patients first seek treatment from an Ustaz or a Bomoh, which delay proper medical treatment and worsen the burden of illness. The SMHS 2010 also found that 37.6% of Malay Singaporeans discontinued mental health treatments. The Singapore Mental Health Survey (SMHS) 2016 identified a link between Malays with a more substantial religious commitment and a higher risk of developing schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders. Aims: The development and validation of this 2-session module aim to enable Asatizah (religious teachers) to work with mental health practitioners to treat Singaporean Malay Muslims with psychological distress. It pre-orientates participants to Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), an evidence-based treatment for psychological distress. Method: The Islamic Psychology of Self (IPS) was adapted from MUIS's Adult Islamic Learning (ADIL) modules to incorporate the Maqasid Syariah with psychological tools and explores how Ruh (spirit) and 'Aql (intellect) impact Nafs (soul) and Qalb (heart). Five subject matter experts (SME) were invited to rate the 25-item content validation form using a 5-item Likert scale, ranging from (1) strongly disagree to (5) strongly agree. Results SME's feedback appreciated the module's content while recommending simplifying several items within the content. Content Validity Index (CVI) revealed a score of 0.924 at the item-level content validity index (I-CVI) (1 being the acceptable CVI value), while the average score for all items on the scale (S-CVI/Average) was 0.68. Conclusion: Based on the results, the practitioners’ guide was refined to 1) include workbook references, 2) additional notes for Asatizah, 3) reminders for participants to seek Islamic knowledge with accredited Islamic institutions. The module is currently being used in a mixed-method, randomised controlled trial to evaluate the effectiveness of MBCT-IPS.

Play And Learning Activities Innovation for Autistic Children Syarifah Zafirah Syed Azman, Suriati Sidek International Islamic University Malaysia [email protected] lay is an important learning aspect that helps child development. For children in the autism spectrum, play can be challenging as their social communication abilities are unlike typically developing children. In Malaysia, the inclusivity and accessibility for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are limited. Hence, this article aims to innovate an inclusive and accessible play and learning activity suitable for children with ASD This play and learning activity are intended to be applied in an inclusive setting where atypical and typical children could play together. It will also tap into different stages of development such as physical, language, socio-emotional, and cognitive development. The Arousal Modulation Theory, the Cognitive Development Theory, and the Social Schema Theory were discussed as the theoretical background on which this play and learning activities are based. Using the theme “Jungle Rumble”, the play and learning activities highlighted in this article are a book to read, an art project, and a game to play suitable for ASD children aged three to seven years old. It is hoped that the proposed play and learning activities can promote physical, language, socio-emotional, and cognitive development, and also will provide an opportunity for children with ASD to mingle and learn with typically developing children in an inclusive and accessible setting.

Political Misinformation: Assessing Determinants of Tabayyun among Gen Z Dr. Siti Nur Izyandiyana Ab Hadi, Hazwani Abdul Wahab, Dr. Sharifah Sofiah Syed Zainudin Universiti Teknologi MARA Melaka Universiti Sultan Azlan Shah Universiti Putra Malaysia [email protected] Internet usage in Malaysia has been steadily increasing, primarily driven by Gen Z, the dominant user group. With easy access to the internet, they heavily rely on new media platforms. Unlike traditional media, new media offers a greater degree of independence, fostering extensive and open discussions. However, without effective information control, negative effects may arise. In the context of Islam, it is essential for individuals to practice tabayyun, which involves analyzing and verifying the accuracy of received news or information. To explore the factors influencing Gen Z individuals aged 12 to 30, this preliminary study was conducted. The focus was on their practice of tabayyun when consuming political information and news via social media. The study involved 190 students from Universiti Sultan Azlan Shah (USAS) and employed a quantitative research approach utilizing online questionnaires. Factor analysis has been conducted and produced four constructs namely responsibility, authority, self-awareness, and understanding. Then, correlation and multiple regression analyses were conducted to examine the relationship between tabayyun practice and various potential predictors. It was found that these variables statistically predicted tabayyun practice, F (4,185) = 98.324, p < 0.005, R2 = 0.68. All four variables added statistically significantly to the prediction, p < 0.05. This finding shows that responsibility, authority, self-awareness, and understanding factors are the main predictor that causes Generation Z to practice Tabayyun when they receive political information through social media.

Self-Disclosure as An Islamic Persuasive Communication Technique in Digital Media Intan Zahrah Mat Hussin, Mohd Helmi Yusoh International Islamic University Malaysia [email protected] Da’wah is one of the main components of Islam which is meant to call and invite people to be closer to Allah SWT. Da’wah activities require preachers to apply a particular set of communication skills and methods to attract the target audience. Muslim women in the early development of Islam were the great contributors to da'wah, as important as Muslim men. However, there are some misconceptions about da'wah, as this activity is usually associated with Muslim men. The Muslim community should consider improving the situation, as both genders are important in conveying Islamic messages efficiently in this current period. Thus, this study would like to explore the potential of the da’wah technique employed by Aida Azlin to improve the situation in the Muslim community. The persuasive communication framework proposed by Jamieson (1989); Electronic Eloquence Model (EEM) has been applied in this qualitative content analysis research. The data has been deductively analysed through one element in EEM, the self-disclosure element. 20 episodes of Love Letter were selected using a purposive sampling method from January 2021 to June 2021. Based on the result, three themes have been found: showing her natural side as an imperfect human being, sharing experiences from multiple dimensions of life, and continuously learning to improve herself as a Muslim woman. The findings of the study are important to be used as a guide for female preachers in conveying Islamic da’wah through digital media effectively.

Social Interaction Between Students: Local and International Students’ Experiences at a Malaysian University Dr. Sohela Mustari International Islamic University Malaysia [email protected] Recent studies are giving importance on the social interactions of students by focusing on the internationalization of education; however, most of these works are based on western societies and so far of my knowledge no recent research has done on the social interaction of students in Malaysian universities. Keeping these research gap in mind, this research intends to know the nature of social interaction between the international and national students of Malaysia. The field for this research is chosen International Islamic University Malaysia purposively as the highest number of international students from different parts of the world are available in this university and equally the local students enrol here for their higher education. The study relies on the qualitative methods in collecting and analysing the data. A total of 20 interviews were conducted where the local and international students were selected equally to fulfil the research objectives. Apart of these interviews, observation was also a tool to collect the required data. This research has found evidence of a lack of interaction, social cohesion, and socialization between the local and international students where differences of language, hesitation and cultural prejudice are some of the important factors behind these. Based on the findings number of suggestions are provided for the individual lecturers, university authority and the student groups to implement more designed activities where local and international students can share and work together to exchange their views, to be more interactive and socialize with each other. Finally, the findings provided important information that would be useful for future research between local and international students in Malaysian higher education settings.

Standard Guideline for Reporting Vaccine-Related Issues in Governing Media Conduct Wan Norshira Wan Mohd Ghazali, Shafizan Mohamed, Mohd Helmi Yusoh, Nur Shakira Mohd Nasir, Hamidah Idris, Kamaruzzaman Abdul Manan Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) International Islamic University Malaysia Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris [email protected] “Standard Guideline for Reporting Vaccine-Related Issues in Governing Media Conduct” was developed with the aim of assisting media practitioners in making proper choices in addressing vaccination issues specifically and purposely. This guideline is unique as it presents a contextual and evidence-based content that is mostly relevant to Malaysia. In this guideline, there are four processes to be undertaken by media practitioners when handling vaccination reporting starting with general considerations, which media practitioners are reminded to perceive their roles to assist individuals in making an informed decision on vaccine uptake. This includes report cautiously by maintaining accuracy over being the first to publish; avoid featuring comments that could reduce vaccine confidence; proactive to current vaccine issues and reactive to their related concerns; use responsible and positive headlines; focus on issue-specific reporting; understand the details of information before reporting; consider appropriate photos and other supporting materials that will not create fear towards vaccination; and acquire expert views before publication. This is followed by portrayal and exposure strategies in reporting, verification, and affirmation. This four-step process is then concluded with the rule-of-four that encapsulates the dos and don’ts of vaccination reporting.

Studying the Relationship between Internet Addiction, Sleep Quality, and Social Connectedness Among Malaysian University Undergraduates Aisyah Mursyidah Binti Ugi Suharto, Dr. Siti Inarah Binti Hasim @ Hashim International Islamic University Malaysia [email protected] The rise of excessive internet use has affected many Malaysians, particularly university undergraduates, with regards to their quality of sleep and level of social connectedness. Compulsive use of the internet interferes with the circadian rhythm as well as closes off one’s effort from being used to interact with the social reality of the surrounding. Thus, the purpose of this research is to study the relationship between internet addiction and sleep quality as well as internet addiction and social connectedness among Malaysian university undergraduates. This quantitative study employs convenience sampling, in which the Google Form (survey) containing informed consent, demographic information, Internet Addiction Test, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, and Social Connectedness ScaleRevised are shared on various social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, WhatsApp, Twitter, Facebook, etc.), to collect 155 respondents. Individuals who are eligible for this study are Malaysians, aged between 18 to 30, currently enrolled in any Malaysian university as an active undergraduate only. Exclusion criteria are people with mental illness. Using Pearson Correlation Coefficient in SPSS, results showed a statistically significant positive correlation between internet addiction and sleep quality (r = 0.306, p < 0.001) as well as a statistically significant negative correlation between internet addiction and social connectedness (r = -0.180, p < 0.001). Findings indicating links between internet addiction and interpersonal and biological issues can be further studied as well as the importance of correct time usage in Islam is highlighted. This study can be referenced by agencies intending to implement well-being programs. Limitations and suggestions are further discussed.

Task Difficulty and Task Complexity (T2dc) In Reading Assessment: Inspiring The Next Esl Learner Generation! Ahmad Naimullah Rozilat, Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohd Effendi @ Ewan Mohd Matore Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia [email protected] Reading is a complex cognitive process. Assessing reading requires an understanding of the intricate nature of reading tasks. Unfortunately, teachers’ lack of assessment competency in reading continues to pose significant challenges when it comes to meeting students’ cognitive level. ESL learners, on the other hand, face two primary obstacles in their language acquisition journey; the difficulty and complexity of tasks. However, these challenges present opportunities for innovation by facilitating the refinement of assessment accuracy and thus, accelerate many improvements in reading. Therefore, this study will explore the dynamic interplay of task difficulty and task complexity in reading assessment. Conceptions of accurate and appropriate assessment in reading will bring into the exploration of what are task difficulty and task complexity, their characteristics and the impact they have on reading comprehension. The new ideas are focusing on the knowledge of how task difficulty dynamically interact with task complexity to allow for targeted instructions and intervention to design effective reading assessment strategies while gaining insights into the students’ strengths and weaknesses. Language assessors will benefit this knowledge to effectively select appropriately challenging materials, foster higher order thinking skills and yield meaningful measures of reading proficiency. This innovation presents the following commercialization’s prospect insights for future research collaborations with English language industry players such as ELTC, Teacher Training Centres or ELS Language Centre with community and networking project based. Further implications in other reading assessment approaches such as computer adaptive language testing will unlock additional implications and opportunities for advancement.

The Psychological Pattern of Consensus Among Experts In Judging Content Validity Of Situational Judgement Test (Sjt) For Digital Leadership Using Of Fuzzy Delphi Method Nurhafizah Abdul Musid, Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohd Effendi @ Ewan Mohd Matore, Dr. Aida Hanim A. Hamid Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia [email protected] Nowadays, one of the most prominent leadership philosophies is digital leadership. However, there are still few tools available to assess digital leadership. Unfortunately, the discussion about expert consensus items is limited, especially involving fuzzy considerations. Therefore, this study will assess the content validity of an instrument called situational judgement test (SJT) by using Fuzzy Delphi Method (FDM). There are 13 panels chosen to serve as the FDM's experts. The item should satisfy three conditions of FDM, namely the threshold value (d), the percentage of expert consensus, and the fuzzy score (Amax). The questionnaire uses a seven-point Likert scale based on appropriateness. There are nine constructs, namely (1) Student Engagement, Learning, and Outcomes; (2) Learning Environment and Spaces; (3) Professional Growth and Learning; (4) Communication; (5) Public relations; (6) Branding; (7) Opportunities; (8) Empowered Professionals; and (9) Learning Catalyst. Each construct has 10 items at the first level. According to the results of the study, only 45 of 90 items are appropriate for inclusion in the SJT to assess teachers' digital leadership roles, i.e., five items for each construct. The findings have important implications to recommend any other empirical ways of assessing SJT items to increase the validity aspect of the items.

The Role Of E-Government in Enhancing E-Democracy: A Study of Selangor Local Governments Nazreena Yasin International Islamic University Malaysia [email protected] Electronic government (e-Government) is a research field that studies the use of information and communication technology (ICT) in the public sector. E-Government aims to promote people's participation by using the services provided by the government and utilising modern technology to increase democratic engagement via e-democracy. This study uses Marianne Kneuer's framework to examine the impact of e-government on democracy in Selangor. Since there is little literature that addresses the local government website in Selangor and its relationship to the concept of e-democracy, it is critical to demonstrate the role of e-government in promoting e-democracy. Selangor local government websites can promote e-democracy by exploring three categories: free and equal access, e-participation, and e-governance. The results show that all four local government websites perform differently based on the proposed categories and the survey conducted. They make different progress and have taken many initiatives to promote e-democracy on their websites. This research examines the contents of the websites of the selected local governments in Selangor and how they relate to edemocracy. The result shows that the websites of different states perform differently. The results collected discuss challenges to the effectiveness and efficiency of e-government and e-democracy at the local government level based on the results collected and interviews conducted with the website administrators.

Wattpad is a website that enables writers to publish new user-generated stories. It aims to create a social community for both amateur and established writers with readers by offering free and paid reading as well as ease of use. Although past literature posits that such application has received worldwide recognition, the use of Wattpad has yet to receive much response in Malaysia as opposed to other countries. This study thus explores the roles and functions of Wattpad particularly for Malaysian writers as the main users of the application. This was achieved using a qualitative analysis obtained from interview sessions with 11 informants that comprises of Malaysian writers who use Wattpad for their writing needs. The results indicated that Wattpad has various roles and functions towards Malaysian writers as well as the local creative writing industry. In this regard, the roles of Wattpad can be divided into four fractions, namely as a community of writers and readers, collecting creative writing works, facilitating the transition from traditional to digital writing, and supporting the Malaysian writing industry. Meanwhile, its functions can be categorised into three groups, which are for the readers, writers, and publishers. Such findings show that Wattpad can compete with other competitors in establishing itself as an online platform that facilitates writing and reading worldwide. The findings are related to intervention-based research and has contributed to impactful research in human sciences.

Taksonomi Fink: Memartabat Nilai Ma’nusiawi dan Amalan Penyayang Dalam Subjek Sains Melalui Pembelajaran Berfikrah Patronella William Yaw, Assoc. Prof. Ts.

This work addresses a methodological dilemma faced by Muslim learners of Comparative Religion, a modern approach in the study of religions. They were demanded to detach from their faith when studying religions other than Islam. In other words, they have to be neutral. This is called suspension of judgment. It is to prevent them from being judgmental towards other religious truths. On the other hand, the traditional methods introduced by scholars of Kalam were critical of other religions. They made it mandatory to decipher religious truth from error as they were all out in defence of the creeds of Islam from false allegations and rectifying the flaws of other religions. Such, in the view of modern scholars of religions, is exclusive, prejudicial, biased, and non-objective. This book therefore attempts to resolve such a methodological dilemma. It offers meaningful intellectual engagement via an integrated approach by recognising the Kalam methods and the modern methods as they are both indispensable in the contemporary study of religions. Department of Usul al-Din and Comparative Religion HASLINA IBRAHIM

The appeal of institutional religion has diminished over the years, while the interest in spirituality has increased. Spirituality as compared to religion is considered as a more inward expression of faith. In this sense, spirituality is a path to seek a personal, contemplative, and transformative relationship with the sacred. Paulo Coelho’s The Alchemist (1988) portrays the elements and themes of modern spirituality. The novel depicts the protagonist’s spiritual path towards self-transformation. This research utilises the framework proposed by Joseph Campbell (1990), about the archetypal journey of mythical and religious heroes, to analyse the spiritual quest of Santiago, the protagonist of The Alchemist. This analysis of the archetypal journey and symbols reflects the personal, universal, and experiential nature of modern spirituality. This research also explores the mythical implications of the novel that form a universal spiritual experience for the readers. Ultimately, this research revolves around the subjects of modern spirituality, archetypes, myths and their interaction in the novel. The study concludes that the popularity of The Alchemist can be in part attributed to its archetypal presentation of a spiritual journey that modern readers can identify HOMAM ALTABAA Department of English Language and Literature NADIAH ASHAARY Department of English Language and Literature with and internalise.

This book argues for the inclusion of philosophy in Islamic Education to train students to have wisdom. Wisdom is the highest achievement of the human potential. Wisdom is both cognitive ability to make correct judgement with the available knowledge and the personality characteristics formed from the practice of intellectual knowledge concluded by cognitive processes. Studies have shown that cognitive skills can be enhanced through doing philosophy. Therefore, this book elucidates the concept of philosophy and the doing of philosophy to show how philosophy promotes excellent thinking. It also demonstrates how philosophy can be implemented in Islamic Education through a WAN MAZWATI WAN YUSOFF Department of Fundamental and Interdisciplinary Studies ROSNANI HASHIM Kulliyyah of Education pedagogy called Philosophical inquiry method.
