Today we face various ethical challenges in the field of sciences and technology which cannot be solved without holistic ethical science guidelines and policies. This handbook puts together the guiding principles and discussions related to Islamic ethical science policy for Malaysian Muslim Majority countries and other Muslim countries worldwide. Indeed, it should not just approach the Muslim countries rather the guidance of Islam brings mercy to the whole world, “rahmatan lil ‘alamin”. It is not only for Muslims but for the whole of mankind. This is our world that we should protect and preserve together. This handbook also proposed Nur framework for Islamic Ethical Science Policy and the Tawhidic Science framework as a reference, as the researchers suggest reversing the Enlightenment metaphor. Rather than viewing science and technology as a source of light (nur), dispelling the darkness of Islam, Muslim scholars should instead imagine Islam as a beam of light, refracted by the prism of science and technology. Islam appears from the prism of modernity as a multi-coloured spectrum of responses. Each colour of the spectrum, each different response, is clearly rooted in the Din of Allah. Such an approach presumes a synchronisation between Islam, Science, and technology. A case study of Recombinant Collagen Like-Protein (RCLP) is hoped to generate an in-depth, multi-faceted understanding of such a complex issue in its real-life context. In fact, the role played by ethical science and technology will be increasingly important in promoting “sustainable development,” which aims to leave a nice living environment for future generations and maintain and develop our own generation’s living standards.
