NATIONAL SPORTS DAY Grades Pre Nursery- III “Obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.” Engaging in sports and physical activities is crucial for people of all ages, offering benefits for physical fitness, mental wellbeing, and the development of valuable life skills such as teamwork, discipline, leadership, and goal setting. These skills are essential in both personal and professional aspects of life. To honour the spirit of sportsmanship and commemorate the birth of the legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand, the school celebrated National Sports Day with great enthusiasm. The celebration, which spanned two weeks, involved learners from all Pre-primary and Primary Grades who enthusiastically participated in a variety of carefully planned activities. The event culminated in a grand festivity that also saw active participation from parents. The Pre-Primary learners engaged in intense skill-based activities like stretching, yoga, and various balancing games, enhancing their gross motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Similarly, Primary learners tested their flexibility and agility with activities like energetic mass drills, balancing races, and hurdle races. The event was a joyous celebration of sports, uniting individuals across cultural and social boundaries and fostering camaraderie and social cohesion.


Festive fervour


HINDI DIWAS Grades Pre Nursery- III “In the colourful mosaic of Indian languages, Hindi shines as a vibrant and versatile gem.” Hindi serves as a bridge connecting the heartlands of Bharat, transcending geographical boundaries with its vibrant tapestry of cultures, traditions, and stories. 'Hindi Diwas,' celebrated annually on 14th September in India, commemorates the adoption of Hindi as the official language. The school takes pride in instilling values and virtues in learners, ensuring value-based learning. To promote Hindi language, a range of activities were conducted in the Primary Block. Nursery learners explored the language's richness through 'Mitti ke Rang, Hindi ke Sang,' an integrated activity where they learned about natural colors and their names in Hindi. Grade Prep learners recited Sant Kabir Das' Dohas in 'Kehat Kabir, Suno Bhai Sadhu,' honouring Bharat's rich literary heritage. Grade I learners recited Dohas and their meanings, deepening their understanding of Hindi literature. In 'Doha Vaachan,' Grade II learners recited and explained famous couplets by Sant Kabir Das and Rahim Ji, revealing the teachings within these couplets. Grade III learners hosted a poem recitation, 'Hindi Ka Mahima Mandal,' showcasing the language's significant cultural heritage. Hindi Diwas celebrates India's linguistic diversity and cultural richness, emphasizing the importance of preserving and promoting Hindi while respecting the nation’s multilingual fabric. The celebration inspired learners to take pride in their language and heritage, fostering a harmonious linguistic coexistence.


JANAMASHTAMI CELEBRATIONS Grades Pre Nursery- Prep “Always follow your inner self and do what it says” ……Krishna The sweetness of honey, the taste of curd, the merriment of breaking the colorful Dahi Handi is what Janmashtami is all about. To seek Lord Krishna’s blessings, ‘Krishna’s Divine Delight’ a delightful event was organized on September 4th and 5th, 2023. The Junior foyer, adorned with Vrindavan-inspired decorations, created a picturesque setting. The opening skit by the PrePrimary learners beautifully portrayed Krishna’s divinity and set the tone for the celebrations. The presence of our Director-Principal, Ms. Anita Malhotra and her insightful thoughts added to the occasion’s grandeur. The guests were elegant mothers dressed as Yashoda Maiya joined the tiny devotees to perform the aarti. The celebration that followed featured interesting and interactive activities for mothers that featured the mother-child duo singing and dancing to the tunes of various Krishna songs further enhanced the Janmashtami festivities. Enactment of the story of Krishna’s life served as a source of learning for all. The learners of Primary Grades impressed everyone by reciting Shlokas with deep devotion. Our passionate learners explored tableaus depicting Krishna’s life. As a follow-up, students were encouraged to express their thoughts and reflections in Hindi as a part of “कृ ष्ण जीवन दर्शन” activity. Through creative decorations, interactive activities, and musical expressions, students gained a profound understanding of the festival’s significance and imbibed the values associated with Lord Krishna’s life. Celebrating Janmashtami at our school indeed served as an educational, cultural, and spiritual experience for our learners.


RAKSHABANDHAN CELEBRATIONS Grades Pre Nursery- II Ties That Bind: Raksha Bandhan Insights Brothers and sisters: a bond that withstands the test of time, growing stronger with each passing day. Raksha Bandhan remains a joyful and beloved occasion that celebrates the beauty of sibling connections and the shared journey of life. With the tying of Rakhi threads and exchanging of sentiments, Raksha Bandhan becomes more than just a festival. It is a poignant reminder of the strength and beauty found in the connections we cherish. Every festival brings with it abundant joyful learning, our educators imparted a valuable understanding to their students by nurturing a strong sense of pride and connection with our cultural roots through a jubilant celebration of the Rakshabandhan. The Pre-Primary learners approached the festival uniquely by crafting Rakhi using millets. In a bid to reinforce the significance of "Eat Right India" and promote the "Dignity of Labour," these young learners prepared Ragi ladoos at home and heartwarmingly shared them with the dedicated support staff at the school, symbolizing their appreciation for the support staff. Likewise, our Primary wing, learners were treated to a meaningful video presentation about Raksha Bandhan. Apart from acquainting learners about the festival, mentors also aimed to deepen their understanding of Indian traditions and history. Encouraged by this newfound knowledge, our zealous learners enthusiastically created their own Rakhi using environmentally conscious materials such as kidney beans, coriander seeds, spices, moong and masoor dal, and more. This festival taught our fervent learners the values of love, protection, and the significance of relationships in our lives. The celebration of this occasion each year, reminds us about the beauty of the enduring bonds that shape our lives. This celebration at our school exemplified the institution’s commitment to nurturing wellrounded and culturally aware students.


DUSSEHRA CELEBRATIONS Grades Pre Nursery- III “Festivals are the threads that weave the tapestry of our cultural heritage. They connect the past, present, and future generations." - Debasish Mridha Dusshera, also known as Vijayadashami, is a vibrant and significant Hindu festival celebrated in India with great enthusiasm. This year too Dussehra was celebrated with great zeal, symbolizing the age-old message of goodness prevailing over evil and nurturing a deep connection to cultural heritage. In the Primary wing of the school, Dusshera came alive through a multitude of exciting activities. Our tiny tots of Grade Nursery crafted colourful quivers filled with Arrows of Virtues and burst the balloons representing Ravana's vices followed by a meaningful message of removing one negative attribute from self. The Dasagriva craft allowed the dynamic learners of Grade Prep to create models of Ravana's ten heads, symbolizing the overcoming of undesirable qualities thus promoting the quality of embracing positivity and goodness. To reinforce good values and personal safety, students learned the story of Laxman Rekha, integrating the 'Circle of Safety' concept. Learners of Grade I showcased an assembly on how the festival of Dusshera is celebrated in various Indian states, followed by a storytelling session. Students were also engaged in an intriguing craft activity where they wrote down words symbolizing inner vices and pledged to eliminate them. Our fervent learners of Grade II delved into introspective extempore sessions, contemplating personal improvements and creatively decorated kalash cut-outs to create ‘bandanwars’ for classroom decoration. Likewise, Grade III learners were briefed about Nav Durga through a PowerPoint presentation followed by learners written expressions about virtuous qualities they aimed to embody. Furthermore, during the Hindi class, learners recited and explained the meanings of two chaupaiyan from the revered Ramayana. The multifaceted Dusshera celebrations beautifully combined tradition with contemporary life lessons, fostering a holistic and memorable learning experience for all learners. It truly represented our cultural heritage and moral development, capturing the essence of Dusshera.


DIWALI CELEBRATIONS Grades Pre Nursery- III “Embrace each day with a spirit that sparkles, leaving no room for the darkness of negativity to linger.” The Diwali celebration in our school's Primary Block was a vibrant embodiment of the festival's spirit, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil. Beginning with storytelling sessions for Pre-Nursery and Nursery, young learners explored Lord Rama's story and crafted 'Shubh Labh' adorned diyas. In Grade Prep, activities cantered around wisdom, happiness, and cleanliness, with learners cleaning their favourite classroom spots and making lanterns to represent Diwali's light. Grade I learners expressed their enthusiasm through drawings and writings about Diwali in their creative books, made paper rangoli, decorated diya cutouts, and pledged to celebrate a green Diwali, emphasizing environmental conservation. Grade II and III learners decorated Diyas, exchanged them with peers, and enjoyed a class party, revelling in shared laughter and camaraderie. Overall, the school's Diwali celebrations, rich in cultural activities and a focus on sustainability, created lasting memories of joy and unity among the learners.


INDIAN CONSTITUTION DAY Grades I - III “Our constitution is an idea rooted in justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity.” Education is crucial for the moral and spiritual development of learners, making them aware of their rights and responsibilities in society. We celebrated Constitution Day to highlight the significance of constitution in our daily lives. This event allowed learners to explore fundamental rights, key principles, and citizen duties. Various activities were organized to commemorate this day. Grade I learners engaged in class discussions to understand civic values, rights, and responsibilities, with a focus on the right to food and the responsibility to avoid wasting it. Mentors used the Lotus Promptuary to introduce the Preamble, enhancing comprehension and fostering patriotism. Grade II learners participated in the 'My Rights My Duties' activity, learning about the Constitution and related terms through a PowerPoint Presentation. They explored how rights and duties are interconnected and wrote about the Constitution's significance. Grade III learners undertook a project to create their own class constitution, developing a sense of civic responsibility and understanding the principles of an inclusive society. The Constitution Day celebration was a valuable experience for young learners to understand the fundamental principles of the constitution.


GURUPURAB CELEBRATIONS Grades Pre Nursery- Prep ‘In the mosaic of life, festivals are the vibrant tiles that create a masterpiece of memories, love, and cultural richness’ As a democratic country, India embraces a rich cultural tapestry woven from elements of all faiths. The multifarious religious influences expose its inhabitants to values of spiritual growth, selfreflection, and a deepening connection with faith and community. To absorb the moral values propagated by different faiths and festival celebration, and commemorate the birth anniversary of Gurunank Dev ji, our learners of PrePrimary wing celebrated Gurupurab in the school premises with a lot of fervor and enthusiasm. It was a perfect occasion as learners got together to reminisce the teachings, noble work and the ideals that Gurunanak Dev ji preached for the creation of a peaceful society. Mentors created Guru-durbar set-up in the school, giving learners a feel of Gurudwara. Learners of Pre-Nursery and Nursery covered their head with cloth, prayed and offered flowers and relished the ‘Kadha-prasad’. Class discussion on the ideals of honesty, brotherhood and service for others was done followed by showing informative video module elaborating about community service of ‘langar seva’ in Grade Prep. Also, other virtues preached by him like selfless service for others, gratitude, shunning temperament evils like ego and greed were discussed. Learners joyfully coloured Gurunanak Dev ji’s portrait and took a vow to follow his ideals in their own lives. The celebration reminded us to inherit the virtues associated Gurunanak Dev ji’s teachings which are imperative to lead a happy and peaceful life.


GRANDPARENTS DAY CELEBRATIONS Grades Pre Nursery- Prep ‘Grandparents are a delightful blend of laughter, caring deeds, wonderful stories and a whole lot of love’ Grandparents are the epitome of patience, kindness and generosity. They play a crucial role in preserving and passing down family history, traditions, and cultural heritage. Their guidance shapes their children as well as grandchildren, molding them into emotionally secure individuals with a blend of values, wisdom and unique character. Our school believes in imbibing learners with high moral values and deeprooted principles that give them wings to fly, and at the same time keeps them grounded to their roots. To irrigate our learners’ mind with water of wisdom and love for family members, Grandparents Day was celebrated with great fervor in the Pre- Primary wing. The celebration ‘Connecting Generations-Uniting Hearts’ saw participation of enthusiastic grandparents in a myriad of games and activities, which brought joy to both the young and the young at heart. The day commenced with Doha recitation by our learners followed by showcasing their dancing skills. Our young at heart guests participated in identifying the songs of Golden Era to reminisce the grace and glory of the time followed by fired-up performances as they unveiled their talents through story recitation, singing, dancing and even enacting their favourite character. The programme concluded with a Certificate of Love presented from our learners to their Grandparents crafted with deep affection, as a symbol of gratitude, love and appreciation The event strengthened the bond had grown stronger and their love deeper.


CLASS ASSEMBLIES Grades Prep - III “Speech is power, speech is to persuade, to convert, to compel.” At Lotus Valley, Class Assemblies are a key platform for enhancing learners' public speaking skills and boosting their confidence. These assemblies address important issues and involve learners in a variety of performances, promoting open dialogue, teamwork, and parent engagement. Learners from different Grades participate in assemblies on diverse themes, such as the ill effects of deforestation, Teachers' Day, and global warming awareness. They use songs, music, dance, and skits to effectively convey their messages. COALITION OF FOOD SYSTEMS TRANSFORMATION IN INDIA (COFTI) The School participated in the coalition workshop on Transforming Food Systems, along with over 100 stakeholders from diverse backgrounds reflecting a collective commitment to addressing food system challenges. This workshop is part of the Coalition of Food Systems Transformation in India (CoFTI) and focuses on ensuring healthier diets within planetary boundaries, following the 2021 UN Food System Summit.


WORLD FOOD INDIA Food Future Foundation Lotus Valley coordinated with the Food Future Foundation headed by Mr. Pawan Agarwal, Ex CEO, FSSAI, to build awareness amongst the masses through COFTI - Coalition for Food systems Transformation in India .
