YOUNG MINDS AT WORK ........ AARADHYA NEGI VI - BRAHMAPUTRA MORPHING Chaos was in the air. But then, what could you expect from a party. They danced, they sang, and of course, they gossiped. Loquacious fellows. Some children brushed past me, heading over to the DJ. Of course, they didn’t apologize, their hearts darker than the pitch-black whirlpools their eyes were. Stemming my annoyance, I took a long sip of water and cleared my thoughts. If I got angry…well, the last time that happened, I nearly burnt down my class and several people were left injured by my long, scaly tail. I still remember that day vividly. Flames crackling and hissing all around me, the teacher protecting the students from the monster I became, and everyone around me was crying. ‘Whatcha doing here nerd?’ I jolted back to reality, turning back to face Jake. Matted black hair, combat jacket, jeans, a permanent smirk on his face, and a big fat jerk. And that was when the universe played one of its little jokes on me. The electricity got turned off, cutting off the music and lights. Of course, the one light powered by the generator had to have me in the spotlight. Everyone’s eyes were on me. I clenched my fists and took deep breaths. ‘Huh nerd?’, Jakes voice jarred into the small calm world I was trying to create. I always repressed my anger at times like these. I didn’t want to be judged. I knew what everyone would think of me, and I was too afraid to accept it. But looking at Jake and everyone around me, something sparked in me, and suddenly I didn’t care what everyone would think. I chose to be who I truly was. I chose to embrace change. I chose to morph. To morph into who I truly was; Eldon, the dragon. AMOG DOSHI VIII - COLORADO RUHEEN BAJAJ VIII - COLORADO

YOUNG MINDS AT WORK ........ NYSHA DHINGRA VIII - NILE THE GAMING ERA Nowadays, youth and children alike are quite fond of ‘Online Gaming’. They spend all of their time on their laptops, computers, PS and other devices playing games. Gaming is a serious issue in the present era, as people get addicted to it. Children have stopped going out to play and make friends. Moreover, spending all this time in front of the screen is bad for the eyes. In fact, the population’s vision has significantly declined in the past 10 years. This sudden upsurge in the gaming industry has caused children to spend more time on their screens than on their studies. People have also started wasting a great sum of money on getting the best gaming equipment and this mistake has thus caused them to have insufficient money for other things, which are significantly more important. In conclusion, we can say that gaming has had a very negative impact on the general public and I would strongly advise everyone to spend their time online wisely. ARYAVEER KAPOOR VIII - MISSISSIPPI A FRESH START A blank page lies before me, crisp and clean, A canvas waiting for the artist's dream. In this moment, I stand at the edge of time, With endless possibilities, a rhythm and rhyme. The past is behind me, a story told, With lessons learned and memories bold. But now I step into the unknown, With courage in my heart, seeds to be sown. Each dawn brings a promise, a chance to start anew, To chase after dreams, both old and new. With every step, I leave behind what was, Embracing the future, without a pause. So here's to new beginnings, a fresh start, A journey of discovery, a work of art. With each breath I take, I begin again, Ready to embrace whatever lies within.
YOUNG MINDS AT WORK ........ ARSHEYA SINGH IV - BANYANS SUNSHINE Sunshine, All of the time. Sun rays, All day. No clouds, no moon. No night, no noon. No eve, just morn. I’m feeling torn. Want the sunshine to fade And the darkness to invade. Crying, screaming, tearing up. All my tears in a cup. And then I drink it, Bit by bit. Sunlight on my eyes, Suspicions arise. They can see the wetness, feel the cold. Tell me to do as I’m told. No tears. No wears. Lacerations on my heart. Breaking it, part by part. Shredding my soul. A gaping hole. No, I’m not good. Can’t stand where I stood. Torn flowers, uprooted trees. Scattered petals, fallen leaves. I’m dead, but bring them to life, Sunshine. ANUSHKA MUKHOPADHYAY IX - VINDHYAS
