Useful Points

1. ‘Letter ’ is a symbol of a sound.
2. ‘Alphabet’ is a set of letters.
3. There are ‘26 letters’ in English Alphabet.
4. ‘Capital letters’ are big ones.
5. ‘Small letters’ are small ones.
6. ‘Noun’ is a naming word – persons, places, animals, things,

etc.
7. ‘Pronoun’ is a replacing word – I, We, You, He, She, It,

They, etc.
8. ‘A, An, The’ are called articles.
9. ‘Singular ’ means one and Plural means more than one.
10. ‘Sentence’ is a group of words making sense – I am

intelligent.
11. ‘This’ and ‘That’ are singular and ‘These’ and ‘Those’ are

plural.
12. ‘Adjective’ is a qualifying / describing word – good, kind,

brave, etc.
13. ‘Verb’ is an action word which is also called a doing word

– going, playing, eating, sitting, etc.
14. ‘Adverb’ is a modifying word – bravely, happily, today,

early, here, etc.
15. ‘Prepositions’ are linking words – in, on, at, to, from, under,

above, etc.
