series-coupled barrels account
for an eight-day power reserve
and there is an exhibition back
through which to appreciate
the miniature mechanical
marvel. The face of the watch
in grand feu enamel with the
hour aperture at six o’clock
is the quintessence of
understated chic. But
then we expect nothing less,
for, like their creator,
L.U.C watches are subtle,
intelligent, understated and
unapologetically horologically
highbrow, which is why
Karl-Friedrich is a regular
presence on stage picking up
prizes at the Grand Prix
d’Horlogerie de Genève.
By the looks of it, he will need
to invest in a larger trophy
cabinet for the next 25 years.
