What is the difference between a HydraFacial and microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion exfoliates and removes the top layer of skin to reveal the outer layer. The HydraFacial compa- ny was the rst company to develop a patented microdermabrasion system in 2001. They soon discovered that microdermabrasion could evolve into a multi-step process to accomplish much more than exfoliation alone.
Today, HydraFacial is a multi-step treatment that cleans, evenly exfoliates, and removes impurities and dead skin cells while simultaneously replenishing vital nutrients, including antioxidants, peptides, and hyaluronic acid. Noticeable improvement with HydraFacial occurs instantly.
Using various tips and solutions, HydraFacial is customized to suit your skin type and concerns. This includes oily or dry skin, sensitive skin, and ne lines and wrinkles. In addition, HydraFacial can be customized to include lymphatic draining and/or red or blue LED therapy.
What are the bene ts of lymphatic draining?
When lymph ows, cells are bathed in fresh uid causing the skin to look fresh and alive. And, 33% of the lymphatic system is in the face.
By enhancing HydraFacial treatment with mechanical lymphatic drainage, it is possible to stimulate and increase lymph ow to assist in draining stagnant cellular uid and toxins. What are the bene ts of LED (red or blue light) treatments?
Light therapy is the application of light energy to the skin for therapeutic bene t. It is a natural photo-biochemical reaction like plant photosynthesis. LED light therapy provides an excellent nishing touch to HydraFacial treatment.
Light in the red and infrared spectrum produces at least 24 positive changes at a cellular level. Energy delivered by the LED light enhances cellular metabolism, accelerates repair and replenishment of damaged skin, and stimu- lates production of collagen. As a result, skin texture, skin tone, and elastin improve over a series of treatments.
Blue light therapy helps improve the appearance of oily or congested skin and can be used to treat Propionibacte- rium acnes—the causative agent of acne. In addition, porphyrin, a compound generated by P. acnes bacteria, is photo-sensitive and reacts to blue light.

Take-Home Guidelines
HydraFacialTM is the only hydradermabrasion procedure that combines cleansing, extraction and hydration simultaneously, resulting in clearer, more beautiful skin with little-to-no downtime.
The treatment is soothing, moisturizing, non-invasive and generally non-irritating. As with most procedures, visible results from HydraFacial will vary from person to person.
What to Expect During and Immediately After Treatment
Your skin may experience temporary irritation, tightness, or redness. These are all normal reactions that typically resolve within 72 hours depending on skin sensitivity.
You may experience tingling and stinging during the treatment area. These sensations generally subside within three hours of treatment.
Client experiences may vary. Some people may experience a delayed onset of the previously mentioned symptoms. Contact us immediately if any unusual side effects occur or if symptoms worsen over time.
Next Steps
You will likely see results immediately after treatment and your skin will feel smooth and hydrated for one to four weeks. For improved, longer lasting results, consider take-home products and monthly HydraFacial treatments.
The treatment area is more susceptible to sunburn, sun damage and hyperpigmentation. Avoid direct sun exposure and use a minimum of SPF 40 sunscreen.
Aggressive exfoliation, waxing and products containing acids should be avoided in the treatment area for a minimum of two weeks pre- and post-treatment.
Avoid the use of Retin-A type products pre- and post-treatment.
