Principal’s Message “The true test of a champion is not whether he can triumph,
but whether he can overcome obstacles in order to triumph.”
– Gareth Stein, The Art of Racing in the Rain.
Dear Readers,
It is gratifying to take a round of Shiv Vani's campus, throbbing with a multitude of
activities: students practising netball, fencing and throwball on the playground. I can also see
students carrying guitars and violins to music rooms and students coming out of the art room
proudly carrying artwork in their hands. I see students preparing in the school auditorium for
assemblies and celebrations of special days and events. What I enjoy seeing is the excitement
in their eyes as they actively engage in enriching activities. It is very fulfilling to hear the story of
their winning moments and the rigorous training and tireless practice they have undertaken to
win the laurel.
When I listen to the excited narration of their experiences, I reflect back on the 36 years'
journey of Shiv Vani. Many moments that stand out as defining are the ones in which we were
challenged and had to respond with a considerable amount of effort. What I remember are the
times we worked very hard to achieve a goal and I look back with a sense of fulfillment and inner
joy. Today, Shiv Vani stands as one of the top 20 schools in West Delhi as surveyed by the
“Times i3RC-Top Schools in Delhi NCR Survey-2017”.
Lately, when I asked our students to tell me about their school life, I was fascinated to
see the enthusiasm with which they discussed topics and activities. Moments as these give us the strength to create a conducive school environment that
inspires children to become lifelong learners. It is important that we offer students a wide range of experiences to complement the pursuit of academic
excellence. Students need to explore and experiment, to discover their talents and be inspired and challenged to achieve. This year, Shiv Vani has been
accredited with the British Council's prestigious International School Award for the period 2017-2020 in recognition of our work to bring the world into
the classroom. We believe that as a school community, we learned a lot from working with our international partner schools. I would like to congratulate all
students who took part in these activities and thank the teachers for their unstinted guidance and excellent team work.
Education is not just about academic success: it should develop the students’ self confidence and personality. I felt elated to see the students
setting up their business startup in the school and eagerly displaying their enterprise at the PTM. They impressed everyone with their display of business skills,
eloquence and enthusiasm. They have learnt a skill for life by participating in this program that fosters the entrepreneurs of tomorrow by giving students
worldwide the chance to plan, setup and run a business in the school. Every student takes part in numerous events like class assemblies, Festivals and Fortnight
celebrations, house competitions, Inter and Intra school events and clubs. Having a positive view of themselves is also encouraged by the wide variety of sporting
opportunities offered. This year's Annual Sports Day was an excellent example of team work, good sportsmanship and recognising natural talents
enhanced by hard work.
A core focus area at Shiv Vani is the inculcation of values among children. The world not only needs well educated and articulate people but also
people who are empathetic and compassionate. We need people who extend their hands to help others and stand up for the rights of the less fortunate. Shiv Vani
was established with the mission that we give our students the best education and more importantly teach them to be able to exercise their knowledge with
conscience, kindness, morality and dignity.

Vice Principal’s Message A Tribute to our Founders
As we begin the year 2018, it is a time to reminisce and reflect on the ups and downs of
2017. The year 2017 started on a sad note with the passing of our Founder Chairman Shri B.D
Narula on January 21, 2017. Even though the school's Founders Shri B.D Narula and Founder
Principal Smt. Sneh Narula have passed on, their spirit and enterprise live on in the enduring
legacy of the institutions that they established and the hearts of all whose lives were touched by
their nobility. Shiv Vani's Founders were true “Karmayogis”- focussed and hardworking
visionaries and from them, the entire Shiv Vani family of staff, students and parents have learnt
many valuable life lessons- chief among them is the spirit to endure and persevere in the face of
hardest challenges. Life can be full of numerous problems, obstacles and tragedies-big and
small but real courage lies in not only surviving them but moving on after overcoming all the
challenges.
It is from our Founders that we draw the inspiration to keep improving the facilities,
infrastructure and programs at Shiv Vani. Each passing year shows more and more upgrades and keeping pace with the latest advancements in education and
pedagogy. Just as we learnt from them, we motivate Shiv Vani students to be trailblazers, be game changers and act for a better future. All the curriculum programs
and co-curricular activities like NCC, sports, music, dance, clubs etc are geared towards developing Shiv Vani's students as global citizens. We motivate our
students to be good at academics, co-curricular activities and above all be sensitive and caring citizens who can do their bit to create a better world for future
generations.
We are proud to inspire and motivate our students who have imbibed Mahatma Gandhi's mantra of “being the change they wish to see in the world”- one
example of this are Shiv Vani's students Vaishnavi Tiwari, Arushi Sood and Arnav Mehta who are committed and dedicated Sanitation Club members, keen to
implement the “Swach Bharat” Mission. Recently they participated in the International Global Sanitation Conference in Cape Town, South Africa proving that young
learners can be instrumental in catalyzing change in their communities. This is just one instance among the numerous accomplishments of Shiv Vani's students as
the following pages of Trinetra illustrate.
My message for students is that Each one of you is cherished and nurtured as a valued member of the Shiv Vani Family and we are proud of you.
Reach high for the stars that lie hidden in your soul
Dream deep for every dream precedes the goal
