ii Show Dogs Ireland

Welcome
Would you believe that the Munster Circuit is upon us again. We have had
a busy show season to date and have not had a weekend break in the last 2
months. We hope you will get a chance to relax and enjoy each others company
between shows. We look forward to seeing the UK and overseas visitors that
make this one trip a year. Keep it friendly in spite of the competition because at
the end of the day we all take the best dog home.

This issue is packed with show reports because we were unable to produce
our June issue. This publication is basically my baby and unfortunately due to
moving house and family circumstances it had to take a back seat for several
weeks. I had forgotten how much effort is required to move house. And oh boy;
don’t we accumulate some junk. I have lost count of the number of trips to the
recycling centre. Just glad we had a van!

I think we were all shaken by the demise of Dog World. We had become
so accustomed to the weekly delivery. Although we have lost a significant
publication we must feel for all those people who have lost their jobs. We hope
they will quickly find other rewarding employment and their experience will not
be lost from the fraternity.

It seems that more and more exhibitors are travelling to Europe and beyond.
Sitting at home it is wonderful to read about their travels and successes through
social media. It is encouraging to see that Irish dogs can hold their own in
International competition.

So as we look forward to the annual “dog-cation” we hope the weather will be
kind. It is the one week of the year that the show officials and exhibitors look
to the met office for good news. Wet clothes and damp dogs is not a good
combination when you are away from home for a few days.

The Show Dogs Ireland team will of course be at the shows. Why not come by
and say hello and check out our range of merchandise.

Enjoy the competition and time with friends.
See you there.

Howard’s An Easter Classic

The Easter Weekend is a must in the calendar of the dog show
exhibitor. The first of the weekend events started with the International
show at the National Show centre on the Saturday. The hard working
Combine Canine Club team certainly know how to run a show. Large
rings, grooming areas well marked out and a large blue carpeted Best
in Show greeted exhibitors as the doors opened..
As sponsors for the weekend event the Royal Canin lead by Mary
Davidson were kept busy with enquires and talking with BOB
winners as they came by the stand to collect their winners gifts. The
show drew an entry of 1580 before Obedience and Agility making a
total entry of 1615
The stakes classes were judged by Johnny Muldoon. For his winner

from a large class he chose was the Alaskan Malamute CH, LUX
& INT CH LIBERTIA REGGAE MASTER handled as usual by
Scarlet Burnside who co-owns Marley with her father Mark. Still
smiling from her great win at the Crufts International Junior Handling
finals the team have now qualified for the Fosse Data Ireland/Happy
Dog/Show Dogs Ireland Champion of Champion finals next January.
Just pipped at the post was Sarah Jackson and Susan White’s Maltese
CH, NL & INT Ch BENATONE RINGS OF GOLD.
This was the International show of the weekend so the winners of
puppy classes for dogs of 6 - 9 months old could not complete for

Juniors Journal

Hey guys,
I hope all is going well for you all this year. It’s great to see so many young people
having such great success in the breed rings and see everyone supporting each other
after all, us junior handlers are the future of dogs.
The summer show season is now sadly coming to an end for this year and the circuit
fast approaching! So best of luck to everyone competing on the circuit! I see that there
are a few new junior handlers which is great to see.
I would like to congratulate Scarlett Burnside on her well deserved win at Crufts where
she represented Ireland in the International Handling finals and more recent winning
at the 4 Summer Night shows in Split!
Exciting News! The Junior Handling Association has now confirmed that we are
having our own Open Show on Sunday, the 19th of November in the National Show
Centre in Cloghran. Any support would be grateful as the club is trying to raise
enough funds to bring our junior handlers out abroad on a trip next year!
If anyone has any breed news please send it on to me or if
anybody has any questions please don’t hesitate.
You can contact me on my e-mail

catherinebroaders@yahoo.ie
Big Congrats to all the Juniors on their wins!
Keep up the great work!
