EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Trans-Ocean Coatings & Chemicals Sdn Bhd (or better known as TRANS PAINT) is a manufacturer of diverse range of decorative
and industrial paints as well as coating materials. Established in 1984, TRANS PAINT is a subsidiary company of Yung Kong Co Bhd
group. Situated at the Bintawa industrial hub in Kuching, our manufacturing facilities span over an area of three acres.
Consistent with our strict quality policy, we have invested substantially in enhancing our production facilities and placing great
emphasis on research and development. The consistent effort paid off not only in continuous introduction of new product range,
but also the attainment of SIRIM certification for several products since 1986.
Enjoying strong backing and experience sharing from our parent company, the management team instills professionalism into all
aspects of the company. This has led to the award of the prestigious ISO 9002 certification in recognition of its quality
management system in 1998 and was later upgraded to ISO 9001: 2000 in 2001.
TRANS PAINT is currently enjoying a commendable market share of the local paint industry. With strong marketing and
distribution system locally, we are fully geared to explore the overseas market. Our vision is to become one of the leading
manufacturers and exporters of paint products in this region.
The principal objective of TRAN PAINT is to meet our customer and the relevant regulatory requirements in all aspect of the
manufacturing of paints and related products. We believe in ‘Customer Satisfaction’ through excellence in product and service.
In ensuring customers’ satisfaction, each and every of our products undergo the strictest quality control. To further enhance
quality, on-going research and development projects are being carried out in our laboratory to explore alternatives and new
products that are competitive and will meet the needs and expectation of our customers and users within the company.
Understanding the importance of quality employees to maintain our high standards, TRANS PAINT also puts great emphasis on
the continual effort to upgrade the skills of its employees to help them prepare for greater challenges not just today but also in
the years ahead. Management seeks active support and participation of all staff in the implementation of quality improvement.
As a corporate citizen, TRANS PAINT will strive to balance the pursuit of growth with responsibility towards the environment. We
undertake to continually meet the relevant environmental regulatory requirements as well as going the extra mile to minimise
wastage of materials and resources by recycling and material re-use. This commitment is no mere lip-service, but is highlighted
by our activities on a daily basis and recognition awarded by the relevant authorities.
The increasing demands for paints and chemicals require an efficient production setup. Some of our sophisticated machineries
include high-powered mixers and dissolvers; a variety of imported grinding mills and a range of specifically designed mixing
vessels. The very recent expansion of our plant has spaced up a reasonably vast area for the acquisition of some larger
production facilities. All these are in line with our quality policy that is to meet and satisfy our customers’ need.
A fully equipped laboratory is the core for all quality assurance, quality control and compliance requirements. The
manufacturing and marketing capabilities are underpinned by continuous product research and development commitment of
the laboratory. With the aid of advance measuring and testing equipment such as the accelerated weathering machine,
corrosion tester, colour spectrophotometer, digital viscometer, abrasion scrub tester, impact tester, gloss meter, cupping tester
and much more, TRANS PAINT accepts the challenge of competing with other players in the industry by ensuring its products are
at least at par, if not superior, than the rest.
We believe that customer satisfaction is not all about quality products alone but rather the perception of the product meeting
the needs and expectation, in terms of the overall qualitative characteristics and affordability, of the users. Our product range is
designed to meet the requirements of different consumer market segments and they are aptly grouped into product lines which
are characterised individually based on quality and price accordingly.
Colour WavesTM Computerised Colour Tinting System is another innovative solution from TRANS PAINT which incorporates the
trendsetting two base paints system into a computerised colour tinting dispenser that allows its users to explore the unlimited
colour possibilities for your lifestyle. Powered by the dedicated colourant technology from The Netherlands and combined with
high quality base paints formulated for our local climate, the result is an exclusive range of products that is distinctively superior
from its class in terms of brilliance in colour, hiding power and other crucial paint properties. Our machines are strategically
located throughout the region for the flexibility and convenience of our customers be it the home or project users.
After almost 30 years of experience in the paint industry, TRANS PAINT has more than doubled in size and market share
especially in the past ten years. With a natural desire to grow steadily, the management has targeted not only
larger opportunities, but also a broader range of markets. The mere fact that its products have been well
received throughout this region should stand as sufficient testament to the expertise, depth of acquired
experience and quality for both products and services provided by the company as a whole.

Our Connection – Ralston, The Netherlands
The Colour WavesTM system is developed in close collaboration with Ralston
Colour & Coatings of the Netherlands. Being an independent Dutch family
business since 1916, Ralston boasts of nearly 100 years of experience and
innovation in the craftsmanship of paint making.
The Ralston range of colourants initially developed to cater for their own use
in high-end products was later introduced and marketed internationally
following huge successes in their home ground. Now, with the roots of the
company and its products in the Netherlands, Ralston colourants are widely
used and appreciated around the world. With enthusiastic business partners
in more than 28 countries Ralston builds a network of expertise that
benefits all parties.
In 2005, TRANS PAINT chanced upon the Ralston colourants and knew right
away that it was the right choice for its tinting system to take off. The two-
base system coupled with dedicated colourants for water-based and alkyd-
based paints were out of the ordinary even to date. The promise of superior
end-product in terms of the colour brilliance, accuracy, repetition and
performance totally changed the mind of sceptic users of computerized
tinting system.
Our partnership with Ralston took on to greater heights as we gradually
increased our machines throughout this region as the sole user of Ralston
colourants in Malaysia still to date.

Roles & Responsibilities to Painting New
Surfaces
A. CEMENTITIOUS SURFACE Requirement
pH reading below nine (9) -
1. (with pH paper or pH pencil
2. 1. Surface Preparation – Cement Work Contractor on wetted surface)
Description Moisture Content [below
a. In general cementitious surfaces may be highly alkaline sixteen (16) Wood Moisture

especially when new. The moisture and alkalinity in Protimeter
fresh masonry may combine to attack many types of Choice of patching
coatings by a process called hydrolysis which compound or plastering
subsequently leads to film deterioration (chalking, must be compatible to
colour fading, loss of adhesion etc.). Depending on the specified paint system; use
environment, the substrate needs at least thirty (30) cellophane tape to test
days to cure or until a maximum surface pH of nine (9) adhesion to substrate
is realized. pH reading below nine (9)
b. Moisture content in the substrate can be checked with
a moisture detector. A typical unit would have simple Moisture content after

c. Cracks must be patched using appropriate compound and pH below nine (9)
such as mortar, plaster, caulk etc. paying attention to
the suitability of the materials in your application Absence of any salt
(exterior or interior). deposits on surfaces
d. Joints and patches must be checked for its pH level as
well before painting, with the same treatment as the
cement substrate.
e. In the event that a particular surface is repeatedly
(over a span of Two (2) months) detected with
moisture content above the minimum requirement as
stated after the normal curing period, it is evident that
a moisture source is present. The source of moisture
must be permanently eliminated by filling all cracks
with suitable patching compound and repair any leaks.
Once the rectification job is done, a follow up test is to
be carried out to ensure compliance.
f. Efflorescence, crusty white salt deposits leached from
masonry as moisture passes through, is common in
many masonry surfaces. It must be removed
thoroughly prior to painting and the cause must be
determined and corrected to avoid reoccurrence on
painted surfaces.
3. 2. Paint Application – Painting Contractor
Description Requirement
Priming:
a. When all surface preparations have been carried out Alkaline Resisting Sealer:
soundly, the surface is ready for painting. The first coat One (1) coat of TRANS
of paint to be put on would be the alkaline resisting PAINT NU-COTE WALL

b. The sealer [one (1) coat] must be let to dry-out for at Twenty four (24) hours
least twenty four (24) hours before proceeding with coating interval
the finishing coats. On the other hand, it must not be
exposed for more than one (1) month to avoid paint pH reading below nine (9)
film deterioration.
Acrylic Finish:
c. A check on the pH level should show lower values than Two (2) coats of TRANS
that obtained on the substrate. PAINT NU-COTE WEATHER
Finishing: Modified Acrylic Finish:
Two (2) coats of TRANS
e. A 100% acrylic system finish is usually recommended PAINT NU-COTE EMULSION
for exterior job. For interior application, acrylic or or TRANS PAINT NU-COTE
modified acrylic system finish can be used. Two (2) OCEANGLO
coats are required to give optimum overall durability.
4. 3. Maintenance - Owner
a. Periodical cleaning of the exterior surface is deemed necessary and can reduce the
detrimental effects of time, abrasion, the environment, impact, and other forces have on
the aesthetic and protective properties of the paint. An interval of twelve (12) months is
recommended between each cleaning, depending on environmental conditions.
B. METAL/ FERROUS SURFACE Requirement
