For the seventeenth year, the Choir members of South High again had the pri-
vilege of participating in the All-City Music Festival. This season their own director ,
Roland Hinrichs, directed the choral portion of the program.
These talented performers were called upon again for the production of "Music and
the Spoken Word" as well as "Sound Off" and "Music for a May Night . " Later
Commencement will conclude their final performance during the year of 1965 and 1966.
In preparat~on for these accomplishmt::11ts, the singers have advanced through
lesser cho irs, picking up their experience and knowledge along the way.

The Computer Club promotes
interest in programing.
South High's Computer C lub is designed to promote an interest in "programing,"
trans la ting huma n probl ems into m achin e language. According to its sponsor, Mrs.
Ja net Taylor, "We have learned to program the 1620 computer in two languages,
Gotran and Fortran. The problems we have the computer so lve range from matrix
multiplication to physics formulas. Punching the program on I. B.M. cards is done
on South's Business Department key punch machine, but the Computer Club goes to
the University of Omaha to use the ir computer. We plan to visit some of the larger
computer centers in Omaha, such as the one at Offutt Air Base. "

The Future Farmers of America is the national organization of, by and for
boys studying vocational agriculture in public secondary schools unde r the pro-
visions of the National Vocational Education Acts .
The FFA is a n intra -curricular activity having its orig in and root in a definite
part of the school curriculum vocational agriculture. Among other things, m e mbers
learn through active participating how to conduct and take part in a public m eeting; t o

Amid roars of laughter from an enthusiastic audience, a cast and crew of a hun -
dred South High students presented Fred Ballard's LADIES OF THE JURY. The adept
maneuvering of the "ladies," of one lady in particular (played by Joyce Koutecky),
furnished the hilarious yet clever solution to the prob lem of "guilty or not guilty."
The play was presented November 19 a nd 20, 1965.

The Junior Division of the Reserve Officer's
Training Corps is conducted in conformity with the
provisions of Section 40a, National Defense Act of
1916, as amended. While the program will give
the student a n elementary knowledge of military
arts and sciences, it is a voluntary program and
does not in any way obliga te the student to pursue
a military career.

The Junior ROTC program supplies colleges
with cadets who have a basic concept of m ilitary
science and who are interested in pursuing a
m ilitary career after comple tion of their college
education.
