Sound Off '66
La Cinema
LA CINEMA, the theme of SOUND OFF '66,
presented acts which ranged from cleaning women
to Academy Awards. This production appeared on
the South High Auditorium Stage on May 5, 6, and 7.
At the right and below are pictured just six of
the many SOUND OFF acts, sponsored by R. Tipton
Biggs and Howard Johnson, South High English and
vocal music instructors, respectively.
Popeye and his Oliveoil aren't doing the frug, and
our South High girls are better groomed than they
look here as "The Group."
Below are four more satires on the treatment of
varied subjects by the motion picture industry.

The May Fete
The ''Sweetheart Tree" was the theme of May Fete,
w hich was held on May 27, in gym 310, of South High
School.
Observed by the Royal Court of club representatives,
the three crowned queens a ppear ABOVE, l eft to r ight:
Ja net Grace, Queen of Popularity; Gail Seaman, Queen of
Athletic s , and Kim Parker, Queen of Achievement. Other
royal candidates of the court were Diane Al ston, Maria
French , Linda Johnson , Joa nne Mucha, Nancy He nson,
Nickkii Naujokaitis, Christine Hovey, Pamela Jones,
Cheryl Kirkegaa rd, and Gloria Williams.
Emil Belsky was the Maste r of Ceremonies. M us ic for
the processional was provided by the Ambassadors under
the direction of Roland Hinr ichs . A royal dance followed
in gym 310 with music provided by The M isfits Combo.

Spring
Concerts
Three concerts were
presented in the school
auditorium during the spring
of 1966. On May 18, beginning
at 8 p.m., the South High
School choirs presented their
annual vocal recital.

experience they have had the opportunity to re -
ceive at South High.
